I restored my phone from the CM9b1 back to my original ROM (via a full repartition to stock ec05 and update to ei22) and noticed that I'm getting one-way sync issues. I get email notifications, my gmail app has new messages, but when I delete them it doesn't kick back up to the web with the update.
I've read dozens of posts saying to clear data, cache, etc and I've tried to do it all. Verified my account sync settings, auto sync and etc, looked at the data/cache under app management but the clear button is grayed out entirely because it says the data and cache in use by gmail are both 0. There is also no 'gmail storage' piece under app management that I can wipe out.
If I boot to recovery and wipe cache will that help?
Use Titanium Backup to wipe data in Gmail.

$7 in order to delete gmail buggy data? Ugh. Is there a way to do it using root terminal, perhaps?
--edit--
Nevermind - I see the free version on the web market, but I can't seem to search it up from my phone itself in-app.
THAT worked - thank you very much :]
You are welcome.

I am having an issue with my stock Gmail app not pushing my new emails. It just started NOT happening all of a sudden. Any suggestions? Still on stock rom 2.1
Thanks
Are you using any task killers?

i am having the exact same issue, it started today. the only way i can get my emails pushed to my phone is if i go to the gmail app and then do a refresh. i have to do this everytime i want to read my gmail on my phone. and i do not run any task killers. i am running bionix fusion. i have rebooted my phone, battery and sim pulls and nothing is fixing it.
ditto
I'm having the same problem.
Running:
-Bionix Fusion 1.1
-Project Core v1
I flashed the JI2 modem yesterday again to see if it would help improve my battery life. I'm not sure if that's the reason I'm not getting gmail pushed to my phone though.

Same here. NO task killers and have to refresh to get my emails. Only difference is I am on stock.
Had the same problem. Go to menu>applications>manage. Once there, press menu and change the filter to show all apps. Its set to 3rd Party by default. Then, find gmail, and gmail storage and clear the data and cache for both.
Open gmail and it should fix it.

Sorry, but it didn't work for me either. Bad thing is that there are no other good email apps for gmail. Maildroid is what I am currently using just so I can get notifications. One thing I forgot to mention was that it was working fine today before I downloaded Gmail notifier from the market. Deleted it, but it hasn't worked since.

Actually this fixed the issue for me - or so it seems so far.
I am having the same issue, and I also downloaded Gmail notifier from the market. I tried deleting the data and the cache as well, and so far no change.
I have stock JI6, never installed gmail notifier and it stopped working last night. Will try the cache method and report back.
Funny thing is that I have two gmail accounts. The one that's NOT tied to my phone user information works just fine and is getting the immediate push emails.
Same here no new emails are shown in the phone Gmail since last night
is Every other phone having the same problem now?

In this case, i would check settings on gmail server and in accounts & sync. Maybe try resetting the values just to deflag and reflag it.

Emails are pushing again automatically for me after deleting cache and temporary data.
Clear the cache/data and make sure sync is still on. Odd so many had the same issue at the same time though.
Still not working

still not working for me. i cleared the cache and made sure i have sync turned on. i have unchecked sync and rechecked it and still nothing.
I am having the same issue. Right after clearing the data and cache, I got notified of new mail, then it stopped working again.
I've searched and searched and nothing has worked. I can't wipe.
I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

Or you goto manage applications and reset defaults for all google apps...

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

I just FINALLY installed GummyJar 2.5. Got all my apps and settings the way I wanted them. Then, the next day, my phone reboots. When it starts back up, it has the former owners gmail back on here instead of mine. I just don't understand! When installing GJ through CW, I did the clear data and cache. What gives?

Is his account still set to sync on your phone? Just check in settings>accounts and sync. If it is then simply remove it
I figured out what it was. When I was running Titanium Backup, it was restoring "accounts" which was backed up on the old Gmail account. I just restored apps only and Viola!

I'm not sure :s
Maybe its resending any failed messages that may not have gone through before you rebooted
Are you using the AT&T Locker service or AT&T Messages or anything else that might be periodically backing up your SMS data?

It may also be Google attempting to backup messages if you have that option checked.

i think this is the samsung backup, you probably selected auto-backup when you first booted your phone, i had that too but when i reset my phone i didnt check it and it stopped
If you run an AOSP rom this is just the settings defined for backing up what everyone has always come to known: contacts, wifi passwords, apps. There is no SMS backup to google.
Hello,
My play store gave me an error to retrive from the server, so I uninstalled updates and cleared cache and it didn't worked afterwards.
What do I do?
Edit: when it tries to sync with my Google account, it shows "Request Permission" in the notifications, and when I click it, the Google account manager crashes, so I cleared data, force stopped and cleared cache and no luck. What do I do?!?! I'm stuck with an outdated, not working play store!!

1. Make sure you haven't only deleted the cache but also the data of Play
2. Clear the data of Google Services Framework
3. Remove and re-add your Google account
4. Reflash your system partition and/or do a factory reset

You won't lose any apps. After adding, using the settings menu, I think you just need to sync things again, so it won't be a problem.
I simply removed and added back in my Google account.
Don't forget to reconfigure what gets synced with your Google account afterwards.
