Read this article. It mentions other Samsung devices confirmed as getting ICS. Is the "galaxy tab 7" our device, or is it referring to the "plus" version?

Well, when u go to the link for the 7.0 it takes u to an advertisement for the 7.0 plus, so probably not. But, I'm sure there are some genius and generous devs on here that are going to give it a try!
It hasn't been 'unconfirmed' yet so you never know. .....
Sorry guys, but theres no ICS upgrade forthcoming from official channels. Samsung has confirmed that the entire Tab line, EXCEPT for the original (ours) will be getting the upgrade. Custom builds are likely in development with source code available but there'll be nothing official.

I think you are right
I'm not holding my breath. They made it pretty clear they weren't going to give it a Honeycomb upgrade, why would they do ICS?. After all, they would much rather you buy their new tablets.
Shame, thank god for the wonderful devs on here Personally, I think Samsung owes it to the people who went out and bought this tab to give us an official upgrade
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
I highly doubt that Samsung will offer an official upgrade to ICS for the original Tab. However, am I right in thinking that the hardware in the Tab basically matches the SoC and memory configuration in the Nexus S? If so surely that bodes well for the ability of the Tab to eventually run ICS seeing as the Nexus S will receive and official version of ICS.
Samsung doesn't even bother to give Gingerbread update for P-1010 and you would like ICS? Get serious. And no devs here bother to do anything for P-1010 also, not even CWM. This line of tabs is forgotten from anybody. If you want ICS buy yourself a proper tablet.
here it says "project stopped".
If you read the thread to the end you'll see that other guys are actively working on it.
Samsung just confirm the dual-core phones because they know that ics will work, for single cores like p1000 they will test first.

Possibly true for other Samsung devices but the P1000 and P1010 (and associated variants) will *not* receive an ICS update. Unfortunately, Samsung confirmed that the newer ones would be the only ones from the Tab line to get ICS.

From qhat I've read: no
I see no reason not to get it... Nexus S got it and runs it ultra fast. That means Galaxy S is more than capable of running it! Also, Nexus S needed to be updated to 2.3.6 to be able to upgrade. I believe we will see leaks for our devices as well. I think that is one reasons Samsung never released TouchWiz 4 for our device, I believe it will come in this ICS update (if they make one).

Day dreaming? Why would they port the old crappy TouchWiz 3 on ICS when they have an already ported and new version of TouchWiz 4?
Also... Samsung Wave got TouchWiz 4 in Bada 2.0 update, I don't see why Galaxy S won't get it in ICS (both are HUGE updates and both devices share the same hardware).
..
To make their clients happy and keep staying with Samsung products? One thing is sure... if they update SGS to ICS, I will keep buying Samsung phones and I'm sure I'm not the only one who will do the same!
Nexus One doesn't have i9000's power...
I hate android fragmentation. SGS is capable to run ICS withouth any problems but its questionable will samsung release update. That fragmentation will cost android, now or later but it will damage androids reputation.
it is a WHEN question not IF
I hear samsung is going to ufficial update sgs to ics... but first sgs II...
Then lets keep our fingers crossed
Me thinks Samsung will not release ICS officially for SGS. But we will get CM9 anyway so I don't care

That's what I thought they'll achieve with ICS... and now we have some Galaxy Nexus models that won't get aosp update, what a mess.
But a lot of manufacturers are working fast on ICS, that's nice to see though (minus the bloat).
Wow, I saw right now a video on youtube with ICS 4.0.3 on Nexus S, it runs flawlessly and soooo smooth. I love the new Launcher from ICS, will it be possible to get it runing on our Galaxy S when we receive ICS officialy (at this moment I'm pretty shure that we will )?

This is the Galaxy tab 10.1 forum. We don't have the same hardware, so this won't help anyone here.
Yup. It was announced two days ago. It was Motorola's way of squeezing the last buck out of the xoom before they can it. They wanted it to appeal to the masses because of ics' huge "success."

I think we're missing the bigger picture here..... Xoom got ICS before the SGT10.1 did, before CM9 was moved out of Alpha, before any other tablet on the market today! Sure, it's a "pure Google experience" device, and Google wanted Moto to get the first crack at it, which is all understandable from the official ROM release standpoint, but where the hell are we in all this? I thought CM9 was a go on the SGT10.1 before any other tablet?
Still waiting patiently, but man, that really sucks for us.....
Pretty sure there are hardware issues preventing a finished port. Check out the Cyanogen interview from another site.

not sure I get you: CM9 is a modified ICS build that uses ICS code + specific hardware drivers (so it's custom for each device); a google experience device is specifically designated by google to be the first with new OS version. So you should expect the GED to get the update before any official CM9 is released. Also, I have to disagree that it "sucks for us" - don't conflate someone else's good fortune with your own bad fortune.

Wasn't the ATP just released with ICS, not updated to it?
Also, I'm pretty glad to see that ICS is rolling out for ANYTHING that wasn't given to it at birth. Doesn't anybody see that this just means things are moving along as they should be? At least in the smallest bit?
ATP initially shipped with HC.
It's no surprise that Xoom was the first - in fact I'm shocked it took this long for it to get an official update release, considering it's been supported in AOSP from the beginning.
As others have said, the Xoom was a Google Experience device. Consider it to be the Nexus of Honeycomb tablets.
I've waited very patiently for ICS on the Gtab 10.1. I think I still have a bit of patients left. Task's rom makes the tab enjoyable for now.

I think you mean "patience."
If the gtab 10.1 gets an official OTA what will that mean for CM9? Would it just be a quick fix to any lingering CM9 issues and thereby push us into a CM9 custom ROM immediately? Or would the CM9 devs have to re-develop the new distribution for release?
You know...
There are two things I always hear in technology forums:
1- WOW! Look a girl in the forum!
2- OMG! You always complain....
But yeah, maybe they are right.. Maybe I complain... a lot...
You know, its not that I am jealous that Moto has got ICS before Samsung.
What drives me crazy is that fact we dont even have an ETA. I wouldnt mind waiting until March or April, but a dead line would be nice, or at least a sign that they are doing something! A beta maybe?? A proof of concept? Photos??
But no... Not even a word, nothing...
Last I heard from Samsung is that they got sued by Apple... Then....
*NOTHING*
What exactly are you looking to do differently on your tab when you get ICS?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
Stardate is right lol
besides the difference in the system build, what are you going to do with it? having HC 3.2 and ICS 4.0, you'll do the same thing. what is so proud of getting ICS first when you do know GT10.1 will get it later on. maybe Samsung just keep it as a secret to do more experience test than others.

Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note to get ICS in March
The development of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note is obviously progressing according to schedule. Isn't it pathetic that Samsung cant release ICS update even for its flagship phone 'Galaxy S2' even after 3.5 months after the official ICS release? With the Android release cycle being 6 to 8 Months, 3.5 to 4 months is a long time for update release.
am I the only one that cant really see that many pro's to ics?? I flashed a few roms with ICS already and its not much different from gingerbread. Having the newest software is nice, but samsung really did a wonderfull job gingerbread.

+1, except that I never had any initial excitement really. Froyo to Gingerbread - while welcome - wasn't earth-shattering in terms of new functions etc, and I can't see GB to ICS titillating me immensely either. Very little I don't like about Gingerbread.
Been on the same ROM for 9 weeks, a new PB (have flashed updates though).
I'll just wait patiently for the SGS3 - Samsung would have to bork it quite spectacularly for me not to buy it.
Looking forward to trying this out, but not expecting the world to change.

Nope, sadly. I'd like to keep this tab for awhile longer and it would be nice if Samsung showed up Apple and keeps updating it (and other recent Galaxy devices) for at least one more version. But, nah. Maybe it will be easier for someone to port 4.1 when the 4.0 source eventually gets out?
But if not...**** it, who cares. A few interface tweaks and some nice features, but the 7.7 will still be highly usable with ICS, I would say.
Theoretically the binary blob drivers that come with ICS source should be able to be used in JB builds? I'm guessing
The main obstacle in current ICS dev is lack of ICS drivers esp as they are closed sammy blobs

I see no technical reason why the 7.7 should not be able to run JB unless JB needs 2Gb of memory.
