Im thinking of buying HTC HD2 again (had one, sold it, regret it) from eBay.
Im had an EU/UK version, im thinking of getting US version with more (1024MB on T-Mobile US version)
Do all the Roms with Android, WP7 etc, that are made for non-us version will work with T-Mobile US version ?
is there any resone i shuld no get US version ?
===
Sorry for noob question, but im at work and shuld not be google'ing too much
Android and wp7 work on both types of hd2.
Do Android roms that made for HD2 512 vsersion will work on HD2 1024 US-version ?
US version will work on 3G, HSDPA in UK ?
Depends, most do, read the instructions for that rom.
er,WARNING...you will brick your hd2 if you are not VERY sure.
most EU roms will brick us t-mob phone, and other way round.
read up very carefully before you even think about trying.
search posts from bahakahn,he just bricked his trying.

Only stock winmo roms, (i.e roms containing a regular radio, its the radio that kills tmouses, not the rom) the op asked about android and wp7, both of which work on either,

Wrong, tmous roms will not brick a regular hd2

Lol, its a three n half year old phone, autumn 2009, I know cos I got mine just a few months after release., and there's nothing I said that was wrong, but feel free to point out what you think I got wrong, and I'll explain your noob error.
The OP asked about android and wp7 roms, and i said yes they're fine, because they ARE fine, , the worst that could happen is the phone wont boot the rom and you need to reflash (hence the post saying to read that roms first posts, if it says tmous only, don't flash it to an EU, , simple)
What you think i SHOULD have said was '' yes the roms you asked about will all work fine on a tmous, however EU winmo roms will not work on a tmous.'' Even though the OP didn't ask about winmo, but did ask specifically about two other OS's, you seem to think i should pre-empt his question by answering more than he asked for.
The facts are
1 - All stock roms contain radios - If you flash a regular radio (regular radios are 2.xx.51, tmous radios are 2.xx.50) either as part of a stock rom, or as a separate radio.img, to a tmous, the tmous will be bricked.
That's it, that's all, you can flash anything to a regular hd2, and you can flash any android or WP7 ROM to either tmous or regular, no danger. Some android roms may be specific to tmous but this is ONLY to do with the size of the internal storage, you will NOT brick your phone flashing a tmous specific android rom to a regular hd2. (or the other way around)
2 - this is not supposed to be a newb forum, otherwise it would be called 'xda-noobswhoneedhandholding.com' If teh op asks about android and wp7, and i answer about android and wp7, what's wrong with that? He didn't ask about ubuntu on hd2 either, should i have mentioned that too? If he'd said simply 'will regular roms work on a tmous' i would have answered explaining about the winmo roms as well as the wp7 and android,,, but he didn't, so i didn't.
Scaremongering **** whit.

Ok I had to jump in here, Sam has been posting here in the HD2 forums for a very long time now. I personally have much respect for him as his post taught me much of what I low about the HD2. If he tells you something about the HD2 you can trust his information. Plus I learned the hard way that anyone that comes to XDA to mod their device has to take full responsibility for any bad action that happens because of something they did to their device. It is the end users responsiblity to research and confirm the actions they are taking is safe.
Oh and mods please remove the thanks I gave tleaf100 as that was a total mistake on my part. I hit the thanks button on accident when I was trying to touch the quote button.

Stick to the T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM section and you should be fine.
Unfortunately, the MTTY method will not work for this problem. The OP can't even boot up his phone, so they will never reach bootloader, which is required for the MTTY fix.
To the OP:
You have three choices now
Take the phone to the nearest T-Mobile location and ask them for assistance. They should be able to help you get a replacement phone faster than calling the help desk. Since the phone does not power on, they will not be able to discover the warranty-voiding changes you made by flashing HSPL.
Log into to mytmobile.com and report the phone as missing. They will ask for a police report number, since they are assuming the phone was taken. This only works if you toss the phone and sim card in the trash. If it turns up somewhere, it can be traced back to you and the person found with it could be charged with theft.
Sell the brick on eBay. I know of at least one person on here looking for a replacement screen, so that could be one way of getting a little bit of a return back.
I realize that those are not the choices you were hoping to read, but I am afraid that they are the only ones open to you. Whatever you do, be sure to rescue your 16GB microSD card beforehand, it may be class 2 but it is still expensive to replace.
I plan to buy an HD2 to satiate me from now until September (upgrade) as my HTC Hero is just too laggy for me these days.
Is the process of hacking/installing Android a fairly easy one? Am I right to think that Clockwork is available for HD2? Is it just as simple as any other Android phone when it comes to ROM installation/backup/etc (once Clockwork is on board)?
Does the HD2 (with Android) support bluetooth headphones? Specifically play/pause/skip buttons?
Sorry I didn't research this
Auctions on eBay end soon so I thought it better to get some quicker advice from informed people

Any HD2 can be hacked, correct? EDIT: Is that what LEO512/1024 refers to?
It's the way its listed and yes any hd2 can be hacked the Leo 542 and 1024 just refers to the region 1024 is t-mobile and the other is the European model. Make sure you know which one you get the radios are different on one vs the other

Any ROMs you guys would recommend? Should I stick with 2.2 Sense or go with GB? (I have been running GB on my Hero)
EDIT: Also, there won't be any issues with downgrading this (if necessary), right?
It's locked to Orange btw.
If you're still speaking about the hd2, no there's no problem downgrading its actually really easy no matter the carrier. As far as roms I'm partial to mdj's gingerbread build its far and for me I've been using it for over a month and its pretty much bug free the only issue is slow gps it works but personally I have found it a little sluggish

I bought a second hand HD2 for my parents which has all this Telstra stuff in there running at Winmob 6.5. I would like to load a clean operating system for their phone because they are overwhelmed by all this Telstra stuff. They are not even using Telstra. The HD2 is an unlocked Australian Telstra model which I am unsure as to whether that is still called Leo.
Which of the Android hacks are solid and everything works on the HD2 when installed with no bugs or issues?
Which Winmob 7 root is free and I can install on the HD2 where it runs the phone fully with no bugs or issues?
Which Winmob 6.5 root that is free that I can install on the HD2 where it runs the phone fully with no bugs or issues?
If you can provide links, would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
spend some time searching and reading, you are looking for the 'holy grail' of smart phones and I wish you luck. If your parents find additional content hard to manage they are unlikely to cope with a custom ROM, best buy them a simpler phone that just does what they require straight from the box.
I'm looking for the Loch Ness monster, the ark, and King Solomon's mines. Any links would be appreciated. Seriously, what you are asking for is a difficult, possibly impossible thing. All roms have issues and if your parents are overwhelmed by a stock rom, chances are, anything on xda will be a challenge. Having said that, I think that a basic Android nand rom might work. Several are available in that subforum. You might have to engage in some trial and error to find the right fit, though.
I think one of the best rom for now is HyperDroid , it is very nice very smooth and so far i know had no any problems for me . Everything works just fine

Why would you say that a custom ROM usually has all of the unwanted bloatware removed and are smoother than any stock ROM. They also give you better access to controls on your HD2 and most of the time better functionality than wioth stock ROMs.
At the OP yes you are looking for the holy Grail LOL ........ A ROM is something that is more of a personal preference than just good or not good. what one person may like in or about a ROM someone else might hate. As treo...not! said you wioll have to just go through and test a ROM and see what you think, "Trial and error." The Hyper Droid ias good though it is what I am running noe on my HD2. check my sig for a link to it and other things too lol.

I would suggest WP7, simple easy to use, highly stable, more stable than any OP I have ever used and hav tried all even dare I say it iOS. I have dual boot Wp7/android and I use wp7 90% of the time, re only thing that might happen to them is a slighlty blurred photo.

You are going to have some issues with any ROM. I suggest that you install a clean WM6 (I use NRG), then customize the Sense tabs so that they have only the ones they actually use. That should be stable and easy to use.
If they have trouble with that, I think that WP7 is probably the easiest to use in terms of the interface, but from what I have read it can be difficult to get the HD2 WP7 burn officially recognized as a valid WP7 installation, so that the marketplace & etc can be used effectively. You can look at the HD7 forum for more information.
Sorry but if he wants to put WP7 on his parents HD2 he needs to go to HD2 Windows Phone 7 this has all the info iun these forums for running WP& on the HD2. Also check out the little guide I wrote on HSPL, MAGLDR, and CWM linked in my sig. Well I was not exactly agreeing with you about the WP7 but you had told him to go to the HD7 forums and I just wanted to correct that as the HD7 forums would really be of no help to him. But I know it was a honest mistake.

My HD2 has seen better days - the screen is cracked and the micro USB port is not working. It will cost about £120 to get both issues fixed. My question is --- should I get it fixed or move to a "proper" Android phone, is the HD2 still the best there is or do other phones do Android better?

Hi - please can you create a new thread with your question as it does not relate to my original question.
In short the thread for the Android ROM you are wanting to load will have the necessary instructions for flashing it to your phone. AND spend as much time as you can reading and re-reading the variosu threads on how to do this. If you get it wrong you could permanently damage your phone. If you have any specific questions then search the forums for answers, and if you need to ask a new question please start a new thread.
Thanks

Use the search button and don't hijack other people's threads. Are you seriously that stupid?!
@OP, Sadly I would say that it's time to move on. I compared my HD2 to my friend's SGS2 and another friend's Sensation, and they are a lot better. £120 is a bit much though, I got my HD2 brand new from O2 (or rather, my Dad did, I'm only 14) for £187.
Yea I been thinking the same thing, my HD2 has seen better days (Power Button) and thinking about upgrading to the Amaze 4g, bought my wife a Sensation a few months back and its pretty cool, basically the same just a little better specs, so i think it's close to the end, at least for me, had it since launch day.

Yeah I feel the same way, but the end is near, but it will be a great back-up phone. The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is the possibility of the Galaxy Nexus coming to T-Mobile, but regardless, I will be upgrading within the month.
Hey guys!
So, I finally have two HD2s here, and I'm an idiot so I want a run through of a few things to start off here.
Well, I had a bricked T-Mobile HD2, and I just of recent put a new motherboard in, and it now charges, so I know it works. But thing is, it has had a task29 on the motherboard so I have no clue as to what to do next.
I also have a cracked European HD2 that I bought off a friend for $50. Just has a crack under the glass, and a few dead pixels around the crack. It is running an Android rom of some sort, but I'm wanting to know something.
I want to install either Pdaitejam or Yuki [Back to the Future] Windows Phone 7 builds on both of the HD2s. Now, I wish to be able to do this without bricking either of them LOL.
I need a runthrough of the exact HardSPL and radio, how to install them plus Magldr, and more, so I can hopefully get them running Windows Phone. I already have two live activation codes so I'm good to go.
Thanks,
CJ

Hi.
The best advice i can gine is to go to the Pdaitejam rom thread and watch the video posted in the first post. Works a treat.
only other things i would recommend are. ( certainly in your case)
Flash a stock WM6.5 rom first to make sure all hard ware ( BT WiFi etc) is working OK. Loads of people have got into problems when "throwing" on a WP rom then having issues and not knowing if its hard or software causing them.
Also make sure your SD cards are squeaky clean and formatted.
There are plenty of posts on the order in which to do things . Use the search Luke
Good luck
