This is very weird.I'm not quite sure when it happened. Ive put different keyboards on my kindle, but now the default keyboard has a blank slash key.it has the rectangle but no key.It only works on some input boxes. When I click the button it force closes the keyboard.Has this happened to anyone else.Any way to fix it.I don't want to do a factory reset because I will have to re root.
I have this blank spot too but that is because i have Voice Search. The blank box on mine is supposed to hold voice search button, but I'm not sure about yours..
Hope this helps!

Yeah swype works just get it from http://www.swype.com/category/get-swype/ ... You have to install it the root way. But I acctually wasnt talking about swype. Tswipe is different but I like it better than swype.
On 6.3 the blank tile is now filled and voice search is still installed!

Really, in a stock ROM That's what I'm running...
Is there no personalize option on your settings tab, or no vibration option in the personalize screen...?

Ok this one is gonna drive me batty until I figure it out
(Pardon the questions, just want to be sure)...Are we talking about the same thing, the "Settings" tab in Sense, not the "all settings" screen (the WM settings group that looks like the start menu)..?
And, when you're on the settings tab, are you sure you're scrolled all the way to the top of that list?
How in the world does my stock ROM have it there, and yours doesn't??
MINE DOES

I am running the Stock ROM as well and it is exactly as you stated sirphunkee! These guys must be a little confused. That is the first thing I stopped. It saved a lot on battery life.
HERE IT IS AGAIN. START/SETTINGS/PERSONALIZE/VIBRATION!
If I knew how to track registry changes in real-time, I'd just change the setting and see what change gets made as a result. But, I don't

Yeah I can fix that! Here you go!
Hit the keyboard so swype comes up.... Hit the "SYM" Key, then hit the shift key/the arrow pointing up/then hit OPT then you will see it listed and uncheck! BINGO!
Thanks

Sir Phunk have you seen anything on the boards about disabling or turning off vibration during call waiting? I'm running Core Cell V3 ROM and when you are in a call and get another the handset vibrates which 1.) Isn't pleasant to your ear, 2.) Whoever you are talking to can hear it really loud. Figured you might now, thanks ahead of time...
Nevermind, found it on the boards
I have another question related to vibration on the HD2. This has been asked before, in another thread, but has anybody found a solution to the stuck vibration issue? I usually get it from time to time through e-mail notification vibration. It will vibrate in pulses 3 times. On the third time it will hang until I press a hard button. This is very annoying, and I have disabled the notification vibrate for now.

Honestly, no, I don't know off the top of my head where that setting is, I might have guessed in the notifications settings? I'm curious to hear what you found out...

perfect thanks!!!
one question, how would i change the settings on swype?
I got this phone last Friday and am loving it except for one thing. I can't wake up the phone by hard pressing the optical pad. Does anyone know of a way to make this possible?
i know that on the nexus one you had to root and mod for that to be possible.
hope this gets done cause i hate pressing the top power button to wake up.
Download a program called "no lock" from the market. It is designed to make it so you don't have to swipe to unlock but it also allows you to wake the phone with the track pad!
Thanks Scrooge276. I'll try it out.

Your welcome! I was excited to find that this worked (originally suggested to me by attn1) because I missed this feature and that little button on the top is a pain!
There's a thread in the app section for our phones. Same thread title. Hope it helps =)

Lockbot is awesome. I ended up buying the full version.
I installed swiftkey today to play around with it but uninstalled it. However now the input method menu option is still showing in text fields, even though android keyboard is the only choice. Anyone know how to get rid of this? Restarting and reinstalling / uninstalling swiftkey did not help. Thanks.
try clearing data for the keyboard?

Nice idea....no dice though!
Well this is odd...I restored a nandroid from before I installed swiftkey (only had android keyboard as an option) and the input method menu option is still there. Is this how its always been on cyanogenmod or something and I never noticed? I know it used to not show up, but now I don't know when that changed.

So you got it working? If not then go into MENU>SETTINGS>LANGUAGEAND KEYBOARDS and puput a check mark in the box for your keyboard and then long press in a text field and it should be there.
I think the problem is that he can't get the option for the keyboard to go away, not that he can't get it to show up. I've never heard of a problem like this. How did you uninstall Swiftkey?

Yeah that's the problem, its not that the option for swiftkey is still there, its that the "input method" menu option is present in all text field context menus, and when you choose it, the only option is "android keyboard". I believe that in the past, if you only had one keyboard, "input method" did not show up at all. So I restored a nandroid to before I installed swiftkey, and "input method" is still showing despite having only one keyboard, which is why I'm confused.
I just uninstalled swiftkey the regular way from the running tab of applications.
So, if you're running cm6.1, do you see "input method" even with only one keyboard installed?
Ahhh, I see. The input method will always show up, regardless of how many keyboards you have. This happens to everyone and to my knowledge it isn't a bug.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I believe with the stock Sense ROM it removed that option when only one keyboard was enabled, but I guess I never noticed it didn't behave that way in AOSP/Cyanogen.
I just learned that double-tapping the Home button will open S-Voice. That's great, but I'd honestly prefer Google Now. My old droid incredible (Yeah, I made quite the leap with this upgrade) had a physical search button, and being able to hold that for Now voice input was one of my must-haves. Any way to replace that command to open Now instead? (unrooted. Waiting for recovery before I bother.)
Im using nova launcher and I set up my gestures so that when I double tap home screen it shows my recent apps. But you could set it to open google now as well.

try holding down the soft menu button to the left of the home button :good:
then all you have to say is 'Google' and your voice input begins!

Another way is to use an app called Home2Shortcut.
You can follow step 3 in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823194&highlight=home2shortcut (You don't need to be rooted for Step 3.)

Thanks, but I just tried it and it seems the stock double home setting overrides it - so it still goes to S Voice unfortunately.
You have to disable the option to launch S voice by double tapping home from within the S voice settings.
