Hi
I really like blocking unwanted (or maybe all) calls on my blade. Generally i use simcard in my device almost only for internet access. So i need a nice call blocker.
From the past few days im using ICS or CM9 based roms on my blade. Previously i used CM7 roms. In CM7 there is CALL SETTINGS and BLACKLIST in that with WILDCARDS. It works so great that the person who calls us will not hear any call blocking message (like busy, switchedoff, forwarding...). But it seems that this particular feature isn't currently available in CM9 based roms. I have seen entire settings and i cant find call settings in CM9. Hope it gets added soon.
Any solution for call blocking on CM9 , like it used to have on CM7. My main concern is the other person should not hear the call blocking message (i dont want to let others know that im blocking their calls )
Thanks
There's an app called root call blocker
It has five rejection methods. Like u can choose to have it rejected as if ur engaged or let it keep ringing on their end

Yes it is nice. The "fast reject" method present in this is similar to the reject option of CM7.
But the lite version cannot add more than 1profile, but no problem it is more than enough for me.
will also look for any other workarounds.

Dunno if I'm just crazy. I could have sworn at some point I saw an option on my Epic 4G to speak the incoming caller ID out loud. Am I not looking enough? Was it Cyanogenmod I saw it on? Or am I just delirious? If so, could you please help me find an app good enough at doing this, no battery drain, and possible to listen to through bluetooth? I'd love it (not need it) if it also spoke incoming message sender.
There was an option in 2.1 stock rom to enable vocal caller id, but it has been removed in 2.2. So far I haven't seen it in any roms that I've tried, including the unofficial leak. It really irks me that it was removed. I posted about it a while back and didn't get any response.
Caller I'd reader on the market reads the names and numbers out aloud. Hope it helps

I prefer "SayMyName" found on the market. Can read incoming calls, texts, emails and tweets as well as their contents if you so choose. Has a text replacer too for those hard (or poorly) pronounced words/names so you can specify how they are supposed to sound. Been using it happily for a bit on various phones and various android versions and rom builds.
Tasker, IMO. That app does everything.
I'll put in a vote for drive safe.ly, look it up...
Unfortunately, I tried all your apps, and they are all great (especially SayMyName), but none of them will speak through my bluetooth headset! That's the whole point, actually. I have yet to try Tasker, which I will now.

regarding SayMyName.. did you enable Bluetooth/Headset-support in the Advanced Settings? (very bottom of the options)
Saymyname is an awesome app. I actually use it now. Thanks

I dont have it on a Kies updated stock firmware release (updated from stock froyo to stock gingerbread 2.3.3 (gingerbread.xxjvo). Only change i made was csc change from from xen to xeu).Or does it come only on 2.3.4 ? I am confused. Any help is welcome. I dont want to use mods, so plz no recommendations to firmware mods.
The SIP option is NOT welcome by carriers, so Samsung hidden this option but you can put it back with some custom ROM.
just modify the framework yourself and add a little xml and you are done
I am missing this, too. But what is the drawback of using apps like
Sipdroid or similars compared to the built-in SIP functionality? I have seen it on my wife's HTC but found it rather uncomfortable to deliberately select a SIP call when usually using normal phone calls..
Cheers, J

I got the point.
Network providers never been too clever in history. Why care how people use their phone ? They should care how to bill it and be lucky to get money for it.
Somebody really think its getting less ? I mean the VOIP traffic ? I not ...
@t-mobile
Just make a plan and let me pay for voip traffic you XXX XXX (my emotions blanked out)
Make your homework and get the packet billing solution up.
@Brotuck
Bedankt. I am not so lucky with custom roms. I just want to use what our system offers.
@jnbch
My experiance with sipdroid was not that good. The voice quality at 3g in good coverige are was bad. On the other side i used skype (which i really highly dislike) also with good coverige 3g network and the voice quality was very good. I know they use another technology but my hope was that i get a good quality voip through native implemented in android

Don't no about a app but i think cm10.1 has that option , u MAY be able to extract phone app and get it to work on stock ROM .
I guess it will feel strange ! pretty awkward ! although extract the phone.apk from cm10.1 ! though !
Changing system apks on stock will affect your ability to accept and install new otas and will further cause problems doyen the road. Flash the rom. Stock rom is overrated and I don't know why people want to stay on it and they want the features of a custom rom.

My only issues with my Nexus 4 are...
1. No macro on camera.
2. No stabilization on camera.
3. There is a delay when starting a phone call where the other end can not hear you when you strt talking, using either T-mobile, Talkatone, Groove IP or Vonage.
the call vibrate is handy, better than having your phone glued to your ear.
Did you check the dialer settings? Open the dialer, Menu button > Settings and check Vibrate on Answer. Unless that's not available on stock (I'm using CM10.1)
And yes, this is actually very useful. Saves me the trouble of lifting the phone up to my ear only to hear a voicemail box.

It's not available on stock.
People still use Voicemail box? Just tie it to Google Voice's Voicemail. It transcribes your voicemail as well as allows a press play to hear. No more of that "press 1, press * to delete, etc"
On the 4.3 version, does this feature exist?
Just wanna know is there any call blocker app that when people call to my phone, i want them to hear a sound like my phone is in switch off mode? I dont want a rejected sound. I know every telco operator provide you with many different kind of sound when someone try to call you when your phone is in switch off, like unable to reach the phone bla bla bla. I wanted my phone to fakely appear offline or in switch off mode and on the other hand i can still play with my phone, surfing internet and so on.
is there any app or xposed module that can make our phone to do that?
Sorry for my english.
Um curious to know who you are trying to block??
Have you tried 'Call blocker' in xposed framework, maybe you can customise the block mode. Failing that Google (Store/Web) is your friend.

You can either use all volumes and vibration to silent (in which case people calling you will get the same feedback as when you are not near the phone) or you can use use airplane mode (more like when you outside of the coverage area or out of battery). I am actually all 3 (2 mentioned + blocking mode) depending on what I want to achieve.
For the first mode if you will use a program like LLAMA you can even set exceptions (and a different set of exceptions could eventually be set for blocking mode).

1. You can not hide from your telco, you are either connected to them or you are not.
2. If connected the telco gets to decide what other people hear after a rejected call.
3. If not connected (airplane mode) you can still be connected to WiFi and browse the internet.

AFAIK atm there is not such app that can do a job as you require. I'm also searching for this kind of app for a long time, but have not found yet. In the older Symbian phone, I've used the app "ACM - Advanced Call Manager" and it does this job exactly what you need.
If there was an app like that, it should work in the following manner: When there is an incoming call from a number in the blacklist, this app will answer the call automatically and then play the preset announcement (e.g 'The number you've called is not available at the moment, please try again later' blah blah...).
Atm the best call blocker app on Android I've used is 'Call Master', it is very powerful and flexible. But it doesn't has this feature yet.

Please do read the question carefully before answer.
And this is a smart-phone, not a dump-phone so it needs a smart-solution.

Yeah, Finally a very good and professional answer to me. Thank you my friend :good: I'll thank you later. Im limited to 8 thanks already. Yes i use this feature in symbian phones years ago before i take my step to android, like you said the app really do the job. But there are no apps that similar to ACM for our Android atm. I really wish they make one in a short time. For me, it's the best and a must have app for workers like me who dont want to give bad customer service to the clients by not rejecting their calls using samsung blocker.
Root call blocker. Used to use it on my old nexus s. If I recall correctly it made it look like you are out of coverage. But, as the app's name says, you have to be rooted.

Nope, it does not and it can not made it looks like you are out of coverage. The ONLY way this kind of app (if any) works is by auto-answering the call and auto-playing the announcement, that I have said in the previous post.
Root call blocker is just a simplify version of Call Master app, that I have mentioned above. They are from the same developer.
I'm currently using Call Master. Call Master is more powerful and more flexible than Root call blocker.

I've tried all apps calls " Call Blocker" on android before posting my question here, and it doesn't seem to give me the feature that i want. I guess we just have to wait.
Hi, My friend has the Note 7 Global Lavender version, like me, he is 82 years old and is having some trouble with answering calls because of the not-so-easy to use green phone slider. Even I sometimes have problem with this one.
So can someone help me with an alternative and a small guide on how to install it(if not like other Apps) and set it as default, so when call comes in that is the one he see? There is no need to change anything else.
Please don't refer me to google, the problem is not that there aren't any Apps but that there are too many of them, and I can't try them all until i find one without a slider but where you just push the green button to answer call - He is starting to regret he bought this phone, as it is not so friendly for old people.
I hope someone here can help.

Thank you, and yes it looks like what I wanted though it is a very sophisticated app with a lot more functions than I wanted, maybe too much - it is still for an elderly man. Also looks like there have been some complaints that you get more spam calls after you use Truecaller and that they upload your data to their servers for everyone to see - not for me!
I like to hear other options if there are some Preferebly close to the stock dialer, but without slide and only push or an option to set it yourself. And not one that takes advantage of people.
Thank you

You could try google dialer apk from apkmirror.com, it has a simple slide gesture to answer and end calls and isn't too bloated with useless features

Thank you for your answer, I will look at it but would prefer to avoid slide since that is the problem. The Note 7 has slide, but its not easy to use not even for me and I have had many phones with "slide dialer".
Finding "push button" dialer has proven to be some of a challenge, also when you take in mind it should be one not stealing your data
Hope someone can come up with a solution for this
Guess not, but i found this one and it might do the trick, testing next week when my friend available: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luckyme.dadapp2
Update: forget the app above - it works just after install but doesn't do anything when pushing the Answer button. After that it never pop up anymore . Uninstalled it!
If you can root the device and install google dialer framework , you can set the google phone app which has better slider : you just need to slide up, holding the phone icon isn't necessary. And custom roms can also be easier for him as compared to miui.
anyways, i wonder if you could find a feature in miui that makes the incoming calls screen always in 'heads up' mode. That way he just needs to touch the accept or reject. I m not sure if miui provides that

I'm sorry and tank you for your input, but I'm not rooting his phone to solve this - too many things can go wrong because you have to unlock bootloader and then install TWRP first before you can root - or so the guide here on XDA states.
I hope for a different solution
