Hey guys,
i connect my SGS to mass storage (i'm running JP3 btw) and i can see the internal SD and external 16GB SD i have on my laptop, but when i try to copy something over it says 'error cannot read/write because card is protected'
how can i R/W and turn that off?
thanks!
same for me, sine jp2 and jp3 I cannot write to my external sd card :-(
you have to go to the notification bar and click on the USB connection and a message will pop up asking you to "mount", just click on mount.
Install this widget called 'USB Switcher'
put it on your homescreen and connect a USB cable
Touch the widget and now your phone storage is mounted on your computer
If still can't detect the external storage.
try this:
1.power off
2.take out your sd card
3.reformat your sd card via card reader
4.put in your sd card again
5.start the phone
6.connect USB cable
7.Use the widget above
external sd seems to be a bug for half of us, so strange, all was fine until jp2 and jp3, and the above did not work, usb switch getting FC all the time and should not have to do this should just work as before by mounting it, but ever since jp2 I get the android pic and it mounts ok but will not let me copy/place new files into external, no permission/protection is on......guess have to try jp4
Hmmm yeah no need to go to the notification bar in JP3 cause the android screen pops up asking if you want to turn on usb storage. It must be a problem with JP3 :-(

Using firmware XJG4 version, I managed to access SD card (16 G internal & 8G external from mass storage using 'USB Switcher'
My steps are:
1. Run 'USB Switcher' to unmount SD storage
2. Connect with USB to PC
3. Select mass storage option when prompt
3. Go to PC, 2 drive appears and are accessible.
To confirm the SD cards are unmounted from step 1, run file manager and the SD file directory is empty.
When I plug my Atrix into a device (computer, car, etc) via USB, the SD card auto-mounts. I would like to be able to adjust when it mounts but the auto-mount isn't a huge problem. My issue is that when I unplug the phone from a device the SD card doesn't automatically remount.
Is there a way to set up the SD card to automatically remount? Is there a manual way to remount besides restarting the phone?
I'm going to move this over to the Q&A forums sorry for posting here by mistake.
So... I plugged my adan into my computer and tried to transfer some files to the internal sd after id choose "Enable usb filetransfer mode" and then my computer frooze after a while and crashed. Now everytime i start my adam i get a notification "Preparing SD Card, checking for errors..." and my internal sd isnt mounted. I tried reset it and i tried do a offline recovery for the whole stocksystem.. crap. any ideas?
1) When I connect my nook color to the USB cable, the ROM and the SD-Card don't get detected.
I tried once again to remove the card, boot Nook, then insert the SD-Card; then I connected the USB cable and the SD-Card got detected.
What's the problem?
2) When I connect through Nook's OS, the 8GB SD-Card appears to have 109MB Free of 115MB.
I can't help with the first one, but the second one - seems to be how the card is partitioned, it is only looking at the first partition.
One time after transfering files I do not hit "usb storage turn off" button and disconnected usb cable, now micro sd card not showing up, and even then i connect usb cabble "usb storage mode" not showing up.. Any ideas how to fix it?
Sorry for my english;D
