When I plug my Atrix into a device (computer, car, etc) via USB, the SD card auto-mounts. I would like to be able to adjust when it mounts but the auto-mount isn't a huge problem. My issue is that when I unplug the phone from a device the SD card doesn't automatically remount.
Is there a way to set up the SD card to automatically remount? Is there a manual way to remount besides restarting the phone?
I'm going to move this over to the Q&A forums sorry for posting here by mistake.

So, i had a rooted mytouch with a custom rom.. Pretty familiar with the android OS. LOVING my nexus, except for this stupid problem. (its no my SD card btw, works fine in my girlfriends droid)
Anyways, i cannot mount my SD card when i am plugged in my computer... I am out of ideas. Anybody have the same problem?
what happens when you try to mount it? please provide more info!
i have the same problem, the only time where it'll let me mount my SD Card is when i put it in developers mode.
If I recall correctly from the user guide, you have to pull down the notification area on the phone and tell it to connect via USB. After this you should be able to mount the SD card. Again, if I recall right.
I wish i can tell you more but.. thats it.
You connect the phone via USB. Pull down the notification menu and there is NOTHING there. I cant try to mount it, i don't even have the option to mount it.
Should i record a video of it?
It should at least recognize that it is connected through USB, it does not. I put my SD card in another phone, hooked it up via usb, transfered all my stuff, then put the SD card back into my phone and EVERYTHING works, it reads it fine. I just cant mount my card from my notification menu. Its empty.
*edit* I have also installed the latest USB drivers from the SDK update, still cannot mount my SD card... I am starting to think the problem is deeper for some reason.
I think I'm having the same issue as the op. I downloaded the latest driver and the computer recognize my Nexus One, but oddly the drive the SD card is suppose to show up in is saying I have no SD card. Whenever I try to open up the F Drive(Nexus One SD card) it tells me to no media. Not sure if I'm explaining good enough.

are you connecting it directly into the computer? if not try doing so. If you are connecting it to the computer try a different USB port.
I have two 16gb micro SD's and I've found a similar situation in both cards.
When I'm in usb data mode (either in Android or WM) files will NOT copy onto the SD card. It will show the file icon but there is no data there.
eg. I copy a song onto the memory card, I see the song name + icon on the card. Disconnect USB mode, and go to play the song... it's not there. The phone can't read it.
At the moment I've resorted to sticking my memory card into my N95 and copying data that way... so sad lol.
Any Suggestions/Ideas?
It could be that the data is not actually being written before you dismount. Make sure to properly stop the USB device. Its happend to me before. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

I had some similar problems, I ended up using micro sd in laptop to copy some files over. Or, I rebooted phone after sync and they were there.
Sorry if this is a n00b question... but I've been able to unmount and remount the SD card in my HD2, or connect it to my computer via USB (which unmounts it on the phone side), all while running Android from that same card.
I'm wondering if this is safe to do, or if the only "safe" method is shutting down Android and rebooting into Windows Mobile. After all, the 1GB data.img and the Android system are both kept on the card, so if it is unmounted, you'd think the system would crash or otherwise corrupt data...
Thanks.

I do think the system would crash or be corrupted because if all the files are running from the SD card and then it is removed, then all files would not be accessible causing the system to crash or even worse - corrupt data. Whenever run it from the SD card and connect it to my computer I use the app called "Dual Mount SD" which allows me to still access my SD card (from my phone), which means the android files on the SD card can still be accessed by the phone for the system to still run. I believe this way is the safest.
I read somewhere that someone removed it and nothing happened, but take it from someone who tried it: Do NOT remove the card from the phone when it's running android. and unless the developer specifically says that it's safe to connect his build through diskdrive mode do not connect it that way as well!
I'm using the above mentioned program and it works fine. Music and other media files will be recognized by the music app only after you rescan the card using any free tool available (search the net/market for a tool to rescan the card on android) and that's all you need
This started happening after I've installed a new bigger SD card. I've copied all contents from the old SD card to the new one.
But now I have problems with USB connection as mass storage. It usually resets and after restart, there are many applications missing (blank shortcuts and apps are not in the launcher).
What is going on??
Using your phone as Mass Storage would require the SD Card to be unmounted,if by any chance you reboot in the process, your phone might not automatically mount the SD Card, and therefore you will not be able to access the apps on the card.
You may try to mount the SD card manually, still, that won't fix the icon problem instantly, you might wait or refresh a bit.
But I haven't saved any of those apps on the SD card (if it isn't done automatically somehow).
Hi Guys,
When I put an SD card in my phone and plug it into my PC, windows only sees the SD Card. I hit "USB mass storage" option on the phone after plugging it in, but I still only get access to the SD card.
When the SD Card isn't in the phone windows explorer will see the internal phone storage. I just can't get them both to show up at the same time.
The other weird thing is when I plug the phone in, it unmounts both the SD Card and the Internal Storage (in order for the PC to use them). However, when I remove the phone from the PC, I have to manually remount the internal storage. The SD Card will automatically remount.
Any ideas?
Thx.
