Hi,
He have found a possible workaround for the deep sleep reboots on ICS.
Worked for me on a TF101g using [ROM][ICS][3G] CyanogenMod9 (25 Mar) (Cornerstone Available) (Full Working Dock)
Just install the app Wake Lock
1 - start the app
2 - chose option "PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK"
3 - chose "Start on boot?"
4 - chose "Aquire/Release lock"
Done
Note: it may consume more battery because it wont let the tablet go in to deep sleep.
Hope it helps.
It'll definitely consume more battery, but worth it if we can get rid of reboots until the asus team fixes it. What kind of battery hit are you seeing with this?
Nice ill try it
Thanks for sharing. At least it stopped the reboots.

I didnt have time to make a full battery test, but it looks ok to me in 5h almost no use 6 to 7%
But i ll be glad to ear from all of you
I'm happy with the battery life so far only 5-10 percent in 4 hrs
If your rooted just adjust your base CPU to 312. I installed setcpu and set the min to 312 / interactive, and no reboots or sod so far.

Thanks. I'm trying that out now with Codename Android ROM with the built in CPU controller

May try this on my Kindle Fire as it has the same issue with CM7 and 9. Changing the min cpu speed makes it less frequent but it still happens, at least on the KF.

SetCPU didn't help on my system. It still allowed some 216mhz and Deep Sleep cycles to leak through, and I still had the Reboots.
Wake Lock has been working for me 100% for almost a week. Battery drain on idle is running about 1.0%/hr of the aggregate battery power, up from 0.2-0.3%/hr. I can manage that until a true solution comes out way.
Just downloaded and giving it a try now...

As long as it stops the problem I'll have no issue with battery draining!
Thanks for your hard work, Really appreciated
I'll try it and report back later

I'll check for the next few days.
Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the info! I will definitely give this a try today -- anything to stop the reboots until Asus solves the problem ...
Almost 24 hours and no reboot or SOD.
I installed SetCPU and set the min CPU for 312.
I am running this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
The SetCPU fix has been my fix since this all started. See here for more details and don't forget to set your governors to interactive. Also note that this did not work for Vicw in the beginning or now, so YMMV.
Side note: Not to discredit your findings b/c they seem to be working for you, but judging from your screenshot, you have 96% left with an uptime of 23+hours. Are you even using your tablet? 4% battery drain is abonormally low for almost 24hours. Just letting it sit there and not using it is just a paper weight. If the problem is using apps and falling into and waking up from Deep Sleep, then the tablet needs to be used to show this.
If you are getting that type of wickedly small battery drain, please share how.

No that picture was from this morning after charging all night. Typically, in the morning my tab is either SOD or stuck at the Asus boot screen. I do use the tab mainly for work so no real media functions. on an average day of use it the battery drains down to about 20% after 12 hours. The picture was mainly to show the up time and nothing else. I can post a picture of the battery usage at the end of today..
I just saw your referenced post, I had not seen it before otherwise I would have given credit to you for your find. I did click thanks on your post. I was just browsing google search for possible solutions.
You are right tho, this solution has worked best for my situation. So far so good and hopefully it will continue to work. I do know that after flashing any rom it took a couple of days for the RR to start happening and they became more frequent as the days went on. So far im on day 2 and nothing yet.
24 Hours without a reboot now, that's a new record
This seems to be working great, thanks!

Aren't we supposed to have better battery life especially since the JIT compiler is on 2.2? My slide ever since I rooted it seems to get pretty bad battery life using around like 8 hours using it all day for email and ****. But when I had the espresso sense stock ROM I could easily get 14 hours of battery life on the same usage.
Just wondering maybe some mem suckers or something? I'm not using live wallpapers either and I stay on wifi pretty much at my house all day.

I've been using the 806 kernel (thanks dumfuq) with roman's 1.8 ROM and honestly, if you load up the latest SetCPU (I didn't use it much previously), it does the work for you.
I set up 3 main profiles and a couple others. Basically, I wanted whenever my Battery was < 100% to run at max/min 806/600 conservative(but i change this time to time), then Batter was < 15% m/m 600/400 powersave, but the profile the rules all will be whenever my Screen Off m/m 245/245. Now that can be a pain for letting your phone go while it does stuff because it does run a lot slower then while it's off, but honestly this does the trick completely, I've had freakin sick battery life.
Thanks for the replies. See its not too bad its just significantly lower than the slides ota update stock. But I am runing set cpu and that seems to help out alot. Post me your exact profiles and ill try them out. Also I did wipe battery stats and **** when I first flashed everything over but thats been like 4 nightlies ago. Ill do it again tonight when its dead and then recharge it all night.

In order, here's how I liked mine (but again, itll vary on your usage and junk..)
Type=Screen Off, min/max=245/245, priority=100, gov=powersave
Type=Charging USB/Full, min/max=806/600, priority=95, gov=ondemand
Type=Charging/Full, min/max=806/600, priority=90, gov=performance
Type=Battery<15%, min/max=400/400, priority=75, gov=powersave
Type=Battery<100%, min/max=806/600, priority=70, gov=conservative
Obviously, I'm still working and adjusting but for now this is how Ive been running and really had some great bat life. I may change the governor at any given point for perf. purposes, but usually this is what Ive had it at for a few days. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I can help you out a lil more too man.
Thanks
TJD319 i gotta say thanks also for those profiles, I made a CM6 youtube vid for slide thats uploading and i want you to know i gave you full credit for the profiles that i use. they really are a big help, so i want you to know that.
I also would like to say thanks, with your profiles TJD319 my phone has been running mightly fine, no problems!
Remix, cool video, would be a nice refrence for people looking into overclocking/flashing cm6.
I'd also like to thank you for the profiles. I set them up yesterday and as of right now (on #TeamFenix 1.8 with the recommended kernel... not 806), I've had it unplugged for 27 hours and I'm at 38% battery left.
Thank you!

Only the best one out there, called Setcpu. Dont use any of those other ones, setcpu is in its own league.
I downloaded and set up SetCPU for only the screen off @ 245, and wow that alone has helped battery life immensely.

What does that do and how does it affect battery life?
I am yet another VERY satisfied Setcpu customer. Major improvements on an OC'd rom. The cool thing about Michael Huang is he posts the app free here on XDA. Seek and ye shall find.
I'm thinking about going back to the 806 kernel. When using that on CM6 with SetCPU I got up to 4 days with regular use. Now it's 2/2.5 with the 844. I suppose it's a drawback for wanting to play Final Fantasy 7 smoothly.
You guys need to understand the profile settings to realize what you're doing with them.
Powersave: always runs at the minimum you set.
Performance: always runs at the maximum you set (mainly used for benchmarking).
Ondemand: starts at your min, and clocks up according to how much cpu it needs. For ex. if I have it set at 400/806 ondemand, it stays at 400, goes up to 600 if it needs too, and then goes up to 806 if it needs to.
Conservative: same as ondemand, but tries to stay lower if possible.

In the off chance your battery has been improperly calibrated, this will give you the chance to recalibrate. This goes for all android devices. I have had to do it once so far with my slide. The battery wouldn't last longer then 8 hours. Wiped the stats, recalibrated, and voila.

let your phone die. turn it back on, run it until it dies again. keep trying to turn it on til it dies and worn't turn back on. Then plug it in, still powered off, and let it charge til the light turns green (should take 3-6hrs, patience...). Boot phone, still plugged in, and let LED turn green again. Reboot into recovery. Wipe battery stats and dalvik cache. reboot. let your phone settle for about 20 minutes before unplugging it. this should calibrate your battery.

Has anyone else been experiencing increased battery drain this past week? No matter what rom i have installed, apps or how often i wipe the battery stats the battery drain doesnt slow. I have watchdog going for the past couple of days to try and track the problem but its not showing any runaway programs.
Maybe try a new battery.

I have, or in the sense that something likes to keep my CPU awake for long stretches when the phone is idle. Noticed it during the sale but haven't been able to find what it is, as I don't have many apps added to my phone (most goes on my tabbook). Excluding application updates the only thing left I can figure to do, is switch back to Zeam from ADWLauncher Ex.

Not sure what eqjunkie829 has but I'm on CM 7.1.0 and don't have the Amazonlet running. more than usual? no never
turn your display brightness down, turn off gps. they usually drain your battery. have you tried using juice defender? paired with the ics 5.1 beta, i get great battery life. 9 hours in and my battery was still at 60%.
After flashing numerous ICS ROMS lately, I always seemed to have one major complaint. No matter which on I tried my Battery wouldnt seem to last more than 8 hours or so. Well, so far it's gone down only 6% in the last 6 hours with moderate use. here's what I've done (on Doc's Master ICS v5 Final, icyGlitch v14 b5).
***if anyone already has this listed somewhere, I apologize. I tried to find a post telling what to change and i couldnt so this is what i came up with***
1. set min/max cpu to 400/1000
2. use glichassV2 scaling gov
3. ns tools: active scheduler set to fiops
And I must say, Doc's Master V5 has easily got to be the BEST all-round ROM I've tried BY FAR!!! Vibranturk has damn near perfected this stuff.
Don't know if this is going to help, but appreciate you posting it. I have decent life on AOKP Build 26 with icy Glitch v14b5 with CPU set to 100/1300, Glitchassv2, default scheduler, and the 1800mAh battery. But if this helps squeeze a little more out, then all the better. Right now I get about 12 hours with moderate usage.
Sent from my rough sketch of a Vibrant on a brick.
I'm running TeamHacksung's build 16 and the main thing I've done for battery life is to customize the screen brightness levels. I had battery drain issues on it the first time I flashed, but I think it was because something I had done. I odin'd back to stock and reflashed CM7 then the TH 16, everything has been really smooth. I'll have to try out the changes you mention here to see how it goes... I'd love to be able to get the same or better battery life and more performance.

well, i made it to 12 hours. but about a solid hour and a half of that was playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit so i imagine w/o that i couldve got quite a bit more life out the charge.
I had to turn the deep idle off when it came time to charge or it wouldnt charge correctly. and, for some reason it keeps saying that its 100% charged after just a short time. after a reboot the real percentage shows up.
You guys are on GLITCH kernel im guessing to get Glitchass v2 governor?
I shall try this for Euphoria today.
Can't believe i'm saying this but it truly does work. Usually after school my battery would go to a crawl to about 20% today it stayed up about 50% REALLY fantastic standby life.
Thanks OP
x66, if you want to get even better battery life, go into the display settings, in the Backlight settings, and you should be able to edit the 'Other Levels'... Bring those down a bit if you haven't already and you'll get even better battery life as you won't be using as much juice on your screen. Has worked out really well for me.

I did a little experiment with battery life, particularly in standby mode.
Wifi is on, and the weather/clock widget updates every 2 or 4 hours.
After 24 hours not using it at all, battery life went down to about 94%.
On an ipad2, after 24 hours, it is at 99%.
On, ipad2, most notifications if not all are turned off. Could this be the reason for the discrepancy? Any ideas to make it better? Should I have weather update 1 every 24 hours and update manually as needed?
I notice I cannot set the update interval for mail? Is it because it is push and not pull?
Id be greatful with that kind of battery life. Honestly.

It lost 6% in 24 hours. That means it will take over 16 days to drain. I doubt many users will see this as a problem.
I guess you could uninstall any widgets you have and keep it in power saving mode. Turn off wifi. Check the apps section in the settings menu and see which ones are running in the background and uninstall them.
Otherwise, buy an ipad if you want ipad specs.
I'm at 87% at 2 days and 10 hours right now. I have FW .29 and SeanZ's tweaked build.prop. I'm happy with it personally.
Personally I've been pretty thrilled with my battery life. I've never had a device before that would still be at 99% after four-five hours on standby tweaks or not - and the biggest tweak I've done is disabling weather (I've gotta save something for my phone to do).

Get the keyboard and use it like a docking station.
The tablet slips in it pretty easily.
I'm not really happy with the standby time so when I'm not around or sleeping I shut it down.
Probably shutting down WiFi is the most important battery saver. Either by hand or with an app.
edit: Except apps producing wakelocks, of cource. Better Battery Stats helps.

+1 this. I have to say, I was a bit skeptical before I updated my build.prop file. But when I did, I noticed an immediate speed boost and much much much better batter performance.
i just noticed this morning after unplugging my note that even though my note is going into deep sleep the battery drain is still way too much as compared to the previous day...
i checked cpuspy and at first didn't register anything odd except that it goes into deep sleep.. after a second glance only then i realized that instead of running at 200mhz my note was running at 1000mhz during charge..
has anyone here experienced this before?? although i noticed that it seems to be a lot snappier now
i just can't help but worry what lasting damage it may be doing to the processor... and the fact that even though it goes into deep sleep i'm losing about 5% of juice for every 15-20 mins.
see screenshots below. the first was when i unplugged it from the charger and the second... after going to deep sleep

sorry forgot to attach screenshots

ANy new apps that u installed recently ?
Normally , rogue process is going to call an abnormal battery drain ,,,download some sort of process, app moniter and see which process is running and taking most of the CPU time......My guess is that it has to be one of the apps that you have installed or started which is causing this
That was what I thought initially but I don't remember installing anything these past few days as I just froze a few bloatware and was monitoring the device for any issues.
The last thing I remember changing was some setting under the development concerning background process.

this may be the reason - afair this setting kills each process after you leave it, so in readily you might have ended with a constant loop of processes being closed and then restarted by system

i unchecked the limiting of background process but still the same... cpu is still running at 1000mhz most of the time
i did a hard reset by turning off and pulling the battery for a few minutes... still the same although the note still goes into deep sleep but hardly uses other cpu speeds except for 1000mhz...
i tried freezing some of my apps and games, those which i suspect might have required 1000mhz to run but still the same...
i guess i'll just have to wait and see for a little while if this changes...
i'm now thinking of reverting back to GB... since the battery drain for ICS is such a let down and with this problem... i'll give it a couple more days
what ROM are you running?
anyway something in the governor seems to have changed ,your case seems to be a performance governor.
try installing set cpu and set minimum to 200 ,max to 1400 ,and the governor to "on demand"
should fix things for you
