We might see ICS next week. They began promoting the Note premium suit last week for Q2. Don't think they want to risk the loss of sold devices. A bunch of phones already got the update. and potential customers might go for another phone if the dont release thr update. Samsung is smart enough to know that. I think
Lets see. I say 14 days max.

I don't get the infatuation with updates...It could be the most solid firmware released ever and people would continue to want updates. Obviously I want ICS but who cares about another GB update?

This is the weirdest release. Malaysia and Singapore roms release which is newer than other region/country. Normally the 2 countries will only receive crumbs from other countries. Take I9100 ICS release as example, even Indonesia has released ICS rom but not that 2 countries.

These updates are actually improving performance and stability. Previously (on kka/ la1) in Trial X game there used to be banding under tires of the bike. Now there's no banding in lc1.
I would rather prefer polished and stable gb than half arse ics.

The LC1 update fixes the weird blacks/greys that get pixelated (specially on gradients) ?
I'm still using the stock firmware release from a Brazilian carrier, was waiting ICS to change firmwares and stuff. But if these upgrades fix it, I'm interested

Just upgraded OTA. Hmm... looks like the banding issues with blacks on the lock screen wallpaper is gone. The video seems to have slightly improved. May need more people with the LC2 to justify.

[I9000M] Bell Gingerbread Update coming Early summer

For your information
Bell will be releasing the update early summer for our dearly beloved device!

woo hoo!
Good to hear that they are going to keeping the phone up to date. I switched to custom ROMs months ago and haven't looked back. ;-)

I'm on JVP but I will switch back to stock for I9000m when it's out.

Ah, this is what I've been watching for. I would like to know what they mean by "early summer", though - we're already 2 1/2 weeks into summer.
Would have been nice if they'd ever released the 2.2.1 update, but anyway, I guess I'll probably stop pursuing FW flashing for now, since updated stock was mostly what I wanted. Then again, I would like to root and do so other stuff...
Thanks for the heads-up.
Thanks for letting us know! The wait since official release of Gingerbread for Galaxy S was rather long and I was tempted to just go for Cyanogen Mod, but the advantage of stock firmware is the full hardware support.
Besides some of the apps from Samsung such as the music player, video player, the camera... are pretty good (and not available for CM7). Also I quite like that a Canadian version of swype is included in the stock fw (can we get that on CM7?)
Of course I don't like the bloatware that Bell includes, and there's a lot to like about CM7 such as the wiimote support, lots of small improvements & settings, the original gingerbread look & feel...
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
I hope it's 2.3.4 so we don't suffer from the battery drain.
I don't mind the bloatware since it's minimal, and stock rom is the only place I can find my beloved french-canadian swype

Awww... I was about to give up waiting for it and flash Faryaab's F1 Galaxy S2 V6 ... the video made it look amazing!
To wait or not to wait ... that is the question!
YAY glad i held of flashing for this long. Will go Official and see how it works. I want it mainly for drivers and CSC as i love using DOC's ROM. Hopefully he will add some of the new features to the kitchen if not already there.

Nice I'll wait for this now as well, heck I held off GB for this long what's a few more weeks. Realized yesterday I have over a month of uptime right now with 2.2.1 JS8, so no hurry to switch.
What made me a bit nervous about custom GB is flashing the bootloaders. It doesn't seem like there's a problem with ones from other regions but with official release so close I might as well wait, go back to to a stock Bell 2.2 ROM and flash the GB bootloaders the 'right' way.
Also kernels and the like for 2.3 seem to be just maturing, I love speedmod with BLN and CWM on my phone right now. Seems like everything but BLN is in speedmod for GB now maybe it will come soon.
we're already in early summer...
i wonder though how much of an improvement it would be over JVQ if at all. I held out sooo long from flashing with ODIN but couldn't stand the lag of 2.2 and flashed JVP and then JVQ a couple of weeks ago; 2.3.4 JVQ seems much quicker than KC1.

Well like I've read in some comments on MobileSyrup, summer is 3 months. Early summer is June 21 to July 20th, Mid summer would be July 21 to August 20 and late summer would be August 21 to September 20. We still have 2 other weeks of Early summer then.

I wouldn't expect it before at least july 14th.
On that date, the SGS2 will be available at Bell stores ... with GB already loaded.
It wouldn't make sense for them to make GB available for the SGS before the SGS2 comes out IMHO...

See that's why held off going to GB, my phone is in the best state it could be in and having anything less is unacceptable. Gingerbread has come a long way since released by Samsung but still not like the Froyo we have today and all the features/enhancements the devs has made.

Awesome News an ICS leak will definately bump NOTE sales.
Not to spoil the party or anything, but from what i read, he says that he will get an answer as to when the ICS leak will arrive. Not that it is arriving tomorrow. Either way, good news for us
says nothing about a leak tomorrow, it says hes waiting for info from an inside source tomorrow.
i think everyone is forgetting that the full ics is due to be pushed out to our Notes by Samsung before the end of march anyway, they still have a deadline of first quarter, so id see no point in installing a leak, id sooner await the official version as thanks to the great team of devs we have here theres some awesome gb roms with ics customisations anyway, once you go ics its gonna to be another long wait b4 we start seeing custom roms.
Hope that the ICS fix the rendering issues.

We need this leak so we can finish CM9, which is a custom ROM. If you want to run a bloated TouchWiz ROM that's fine with me, but the current ROMs here aren't fully customized ROMs since they're only tweaked versions of the original ROMs. CM9 will push the development further since it's built from scratch.
And when CM9 is finished we might see MIUI since MIUI is based on CM.
pfff sgs2 got again ics leak, fuuuuu

+1 I really like finally see CM9 and MIUI for the Note
The SGS II has had over 5 leaks of the ICS Rom. They have all progressively gotten more stable with each release / leak.
I am thinking, the NOTE will also encounter a very buggy leak and start getting better as SamMobile starts "leaking" roms.
All in all, its a good thing since it allows the CM team to probe further with solutions rather than creating them from scratch.

It would seem so, but as has been stated in the CM9 Alpha thread some of the driver components are different, or at least the BLOBs are. This is the reason why the camera does not work there and Bluetooth is unstable. So it's not only the digitizer that has to be implemented anew. Also, if you look at the official teardown pictures from Samsung you notice that the chip manufacturer is stroke out. Many newssites speculated about whether or not this means it's not the Exynos chip working in there (or at least not the 'usual' model). But this is only a rumour, whereas the camera and the Bluetooth module are definately different.

Yes.
Galaxy S, in the eyes on Samsung, has fulfilled his purpose.
But in XDA eyes, it still has a lot to offer!
If you are too afraid to flash an ICS rom on it, you should probably do yourself a favor and throw it to the trash can and buy an iPhone, that gives you plenty of features to afraid (and rich) people.

The value pack is available for the SGS, and is a really cool firmware - possibly the best firmware until now from Samsung.
This is for the international version. Possibly a similar package for other regions and operators.
Since that ROM was leaked, no other leak for the i9000 for long time. I don't expect any other ROM for the SGS from Samsung.
There are some developers here working on the ICS for the SGS. At this point, the only think we're asking from Samsung is to release the source to support the continued development.
it is leaked for SGS only i think not SGS + as i m SGS+ user i didn't find that so it is new for me.there are also less roms for SGS+ and till now there is no ICS rom (unofficial) for SGS+ so for me its bad experience with samsung

Same boat like you. And I find it really strange and odd that AT&T version is starting to see real leaks and not the Original Samsung Note. Unless samsung is taking its time so they can release a good product. My understanding is that the AT&T leak has nothing special at all.
I thought the ICS for the Note wasn't going to come until late May/early June?
We should be able to tell from this release what Samsung will have changed/messed up from the ics vanilla

Did anyone think to consider that Samsung may be just as far along (if not further) with officially releasing ICS for the N7000? I mean, we're talking about a "leak" here, which means a Samsung insider had to have "leaked" the build.
I guess what I'm saying is, the N7000 team may just be less leaky than the AT&T Note team. We'll get ICS when we get it.
I just hope someone can cook a ROM that uses tablet mode... Maybe take elements of the 7.7 HC build and port them over to the ICS Note?
It doesnt matter to me really since I love this phone and wouldnt want another with a smaller screen..
Although it would be nice to have some kind of leak..Maybe I could finally have netflix on ICS..

OMG a dark day in history of human kind...
Obviously Samsung feels the same cause they didn't really want to release either yet...
But seriously, leaks are random, you can't seriously be upset that what has leaked was not the one you wanted...

international version had an ICS leak ages ago. sammobile had the i9220 leak and then made an n7000 version of it, this was like a month or so ago?
and whilst the att version is functional, its not without bugs. its also missing the much anticipated premium suite.
While technically he is right there has been no leak for the n7000 just the i9220. Doesn't matter really because no phone comes close to this bad boy even without ICS..
If I wanted ICS I would have bought a Nexus Prime..
Now that definitely warrants a new ICS thread...

Besides it's a leak on AT&T. It's not even official. Who knows what problems there are still on it. Rather get a fully stable release than get a leak with bugs.

Actually our ICS leak is fully functional. Everything works properly, runs smoothly, and our black crush even got better. So yeah I'd say it's pretty stable. It's my daily driver.

I am upset that a fully functional att version note got a fully working ITS leaked Rom before the international version did. its so unfair

ahaha the day after i sold my samsung infuse gb was release for it
Simple answer.
ICS on N7000 should be easier for them.
AT&T Note: Had to be modified for faster internet access so users can hit their cap faster.
China's i9220 and Intl N7000 should be about the same thing and easier todo.
And leak are just leaks, who knows how someone got access to that? Maybe we already have a fully perfect ROM for N7000 and Samsung still working out to provide roms for AT&T so ICS update can be a global thing.
Could care less
What does ICS bring to the table, other than hardware acceleration,
probably some newer apps.
The current version of GB 2.3.6 runs on my note like greased lightning.
You know good & well when ICS is released for any device, it's going to have
some of the same growing pains that GB did when it was released.
Since my Note is my business connection device, I think I'll hold off on jumping
onto the ICS bandwagon, until I know for sure it's ROCK SOLID stable.
I don't have time dealing with bugs. Thanks to you bleeding heart types though.
If it wasn't for you, we'd never be anywhere, but, I can't afford to have the
device lock up, slow down, crash etc.
