CyanogenMod

I've started a thread over on the CyanogenMod forum asking about the possibility of a port now that the Arc's bootloader has been unlocked.
I know it's not as simple as posting and asking and Cyanogen or the team will just cook it up but if we can draw their attention to the fact that the bootloader is now unlocked/unlockable, maybe we could pique someone's interest...
Anyway, if people want to lend their support, here is the thread.

They will support it if they have the phone. But hope to see the support for arc.

There is nothing official yet. Hope to see CM love for arc i think we just have to wait to see devs getting a arc. right now i would like to see clockworksmod on it so i can make a backup of the phone so i can play or try to flash CM

OpenSource ROM

Hello,you all ready know that nobody is developing something good
for our X8.
I meant no overall progress and there is only one dev that can make progress in all three caregory:
1.Apps and framework
2.Libs,tweaks and performance
3.Kernel
Point of this rom is that there are 4 people making by each one covering each category + one (i ddont know how to call it) boss and he's mission is to listen users about ideas and collecting progress from others and intergrating it to rom.
Thread will have 4 posts first boss one then the others one so users for example can download wifi driver without downloading whole rom or waiting for it.
The only thing we need is people for each category + boss.
If any one want to contribute please PM me or post to this thread but first we need to see is this idea good by vooting on this poll.
Will work on this rom: sapabg (app/theme maker)

Well, the thing is that devs do what they want.It's up to them if they want this or not. The best thing is to wait for the reply of some devs

We can use FXP and/or CM71 sources for that?

Nice idea. If a single person can cook a nice rom. How about 4 or more of them joined force to produce a very stable rom.

AChep's themes are all too good! They are the only CM7 theme I use(for now).

Doesn't FXP Kernel have wifi issues amongst others?

As said many times by people. You cannot really compare each rom from your perspective. We have same device but really different experiences. Those we would scrutinize the two ROMS, you cant hardly compare it, mainly there base is different.
I dont wanna be rude, but each time dev's release a ROM here comes the repeated polls and comparison.

This is a poll for determining the number of users using a rom. This is not based on any comparison of the two roms or the one which is better.

And what are you going to do with the figures when people answer the poll? Is it a feasibility study or a research? If that so I will ask people to help you

yup, + 1 to that.
Not to mention that you cannot compare one that has stock kernel support, and one that is customized for a diferent kernel.
...but we live in this society where EVERYTHING gets to be exploited in the end (consumer - based I guess would be the term, right?) ...so, based on hard work of others, some guy puts a cover on it and sells it with profit. (in this case being...what?....the thanks he would get at the end of the day? no idea how that would be an asset....)

Ya you are right, my main purpose of this poll is to do a study of the both of the roms developed by our great DX and nobodyAtall.

no choice for me, as i am with MiniCM+Alfs

well, MiniCM+nAa works perfect for me...
but i will give GDX a try...

Well if u have 2 x8 u can flash gdx and minicm on each x8 and compare it for yourself to study it right..coz each people have their own like and dislike of those ROM..
These kind of poll will only break the devs heart for sure

for me, GingerDX+stock kernel is the most stable, GingerDX+alfs for me sucks, very unstable, MiniCM7+nAa is pretty stable( i have it from 2 days and i don't found any bugs) and it gives the best performance from your device.

Kind of a stupid thread but, GDX and the MiniCM have the CM 7.2 RC1 soo they are kinda the same, but i choose the MiniCm.

I am on GingerDX with stock kernel and modules

No this thread is not stupid,and not disrespecting anyone work.and yes,these are the two best working roms for x8,with the same core,and should be compared.why shouldn't we compare the two roms and choose the winner?every rom uses another kernel,but kernels are not so different also.there is nothing bad about comparing.

[PORT] Anyone ??

Guyz i was thinking of porting this ROM from a week or two.
BUT i am concentrating at studies now cause i have to take admission in college.
if anyone can port it,it would be great
I have not been into latest development by JahlovePL.His MIUI is great.I dont know if it is fully translated or not.
I think THIS is fully translated MIUI.

Dont mind the haters sweetie it will just distract you. The maybe you want to use the release by wind + the translated setting by eg. I was using that rom for a bout a week and trace bugs. I can say that it has very minimal bug and almost all work, so far the bug i see is the random reboot sometimes on mms and in wifi but not so often. Maybe updating the base is good as well. If you will continue then I look forward on it as jah already stopped his GB MIUI port.

I could have tried porting it. but im not free these days.so i just gave link to you all so that anyone can try and take the development ahead.oh i didnt know jahlovePL stopped the development...

He did as he wants to focus on MIUIv4 as soon as nAa release an update with almost fixed all ICS. Im also wondering coz Jah might stopped also as I read somewhere else that he is having Xperia S.

With my last phone there were only about 4 devs actively releasing roms, now we have 2, one working on JB, and one on ICS and JB, its nice to see all the devs for this phone, although I have not flashed custom yet, but from what I heard there isn't much differance between CM9 and stock, I may look into CM 10 when its a little more complete though.
