In low resolution screens/settings (under 1024x768) when you go to the settings "APP", under the Metro UI, it opens up like an APP, and it behaves and it looks like an APP, ... so I think there must be something enabling this "Settings" app under low resolution screens; (sometimes I even got the same error "This app can't open" when I try to to open the "Settings" app under my low resolution screen "1024x600" but It always opens up right after I try for 2nd time); so what I'm saying maybe there's a way to enable all this apps to open in low resolution without using that registry hack that makes things look a bit stretch and too small and blur... and... well I don't like it... I don't know, just a thought to anyone with the expertise/willingness to look into this matter...
Id rather scroll down-left right using an app than frown to my screen... there must be a way... i quess.

I would assume that the Settings app was created without the resolution limitation (or as an exception to it embedded into WinRT). It is food for thought though. I don't mind a downscaled screen really, I've used it since Windows Developer Preview came out and I'm pretty used to it lol.

im looking for what the title says. something VGA compatible. it doesnt have to be 3d rendering, that would be cool. just the simple ability to have it go to a screen saver slide show of some favorite pictures would be great.
I have my diamond docked on my desk 8h a day at work id like something to keep the screen from burning in. and also keep my diamond private when i decide to leave my desk for a coffee no need for people walking past and getting an eye shot of a SMS notification that's none of there business.
if this has been made/published before please point me in the right direction as i have yielded nothing good in my searches.
Screensaver PPC
Haven't tried it myself, but will in a couple of minutes.
or this
Matrix SS
Main program works and Matrix add on works.
Too bad, we can't customize our own.
I like the idea of a slideshow of the pictures in your album.
Hi..is there a application for diamond that runs your jpegs as a screensaver??
The standard Pictures & Videos app already has a screen saver. Open the application and go to Menu>Tools>Options>Slide Show (Tab) and check "Play screensaver when connected....".

the iphone browsing experience is great, and is full screen.
On the Leo it is not full screen, even when you zoom out.

I'm a little confused by this. Do you mean Opera 10? I only ask because the default Opera (9.7) that comes installed on the device is always in full screen, except when you use the menus.
same for opera 10.. always in fullscreen except when using the menus
maby i said it wrong...with fullscreen i ment viewing the whole page. only able to scroll down, not sideways.
Opera always goes to fullscreen mode automatically.
And actually it goes to REAL fullscreen, not like on the iPhone where you still have that bar on the bottom taking away screen real estate (that's already very limited on the iPhone anyway, with that low resolution and smaller screen).
Don't know where you found that information that Opera would not do this, but it's wrong.
You can turn that off in the settings, however.
EDIT:

Ah yes, now I understand what you mean. Yes, you can do that also, by setting the "virtual screen width" higher.
if it still wont work, type about:config in your browser
and then go to user prefs and see if there are some options permanently activatet wich do not allow the browser to go into fullscreen!
This is what you're searching for:
- type about:config
- click on 'adaptive zoom settings'
- set 'virtual screen width' to 1000 (or something great enough for all the pages you visit)
- click 'save' and restart Opera
Thanks for the question, I'll include this in my next ROM
I like not having to scroll sideways, but was too lazy to change it
yeah thats it! i was to lazy to get my phone to look it up^^

alrighty. thanks for the answer.
i think im gonna sell my 3Gs
First of all, I love my phone and I love the stock Android browser.
With that said, I see two ways the browser could be slightly improved.
I often find myself managing multiple tabs in the browser (4-6 at any given time). I find that when I go to my open tabs (Menu > Windows), it's very hard to tell which one is the active tab. I think they're listed in the order in which they're opened, but that doesn't help me when I constantly jump back and forth between them. There's no indication which tab is active, and the fact that the font is so large and you have a truncated URL and page title makes it difficult to tell what's what.
Is there an option or tweak that allows the active tab to be bolded/colored differently, font size to be reduced, display to be thumbnailed rather than listed, or to arrange the tabs in a different way (ie; last viewed on top rather than first viewed)?
My second question has to do with locking the orientation of the browser to either portrait or landscape. This would be useful if I'm laying in bed on my side reading webpages. I'd want the orientation to "stick" to portrait so that I'm reading like normal rather than have the browser switch to landscape and have to angle my phone so that the accelerometer switches back and stays on portrait.
Is there an option or tweak to force the browser to "stick" to either portrait or landscape mode for a given period of time?
Browser > More > Settings and check Landscape-only display.
Not sure about the other question though.

Hmm, what I actually need it to do is lock into portrait mode, not landscape.
You should check out Dolphin Browser HD. Tabbed browsing, orirntation settings, add ons, tons more. Just search for it in the market.

Here is a screenshot if how it looks. The tabs at the top can be scrolled to the left or right if you have a few.

HTC did a much better job at tweaking the browser in Android than Samsung. (myTouch slide is my other phone).

I agree to an extent, feels choppy when you choose a window on the slide though, and you're stuck with 3 tabs Max on it, I actually like HTC sense more than espresso.

Solution: An app called "AutoRotate Switch."
Works flawlessly! Tapping the icon toggles between locked and unlocked orientations. Amazing.
I read about it here: http://lifehacker.com/5621959/autorotate-switch-toggles-screen-rotation-on-your-android-phone
Still in search of a solution to problem #1 which was:
Is there an option or tweak that allows the active browser tab to be bolded/colored differently, font size in tab overview page to be reduced, display of thumbnail overview page to be thumbnailed rather than listed, or to arrange the tabs in a different way (ie; last viewed on top rather than first viewed)?
Hi,
I have my PC hooked up on my big LCD, on which I like to play my games.
So to lauch my games on that screen, I always have to switch primary display.
(go to desktop > right click > change resolution > make primary display)
Is there an easier way to do this?
I have searched a lot, but have never found something..
It would be awesome to just be able to manange your apps and configure on which display the have to open..
Maybe Win+P will be good ?
regards
Thanks, but that doesn't really help..
To play my game on second monitor I whould then have to choose the option 'second screen only'.
Which is kind of worse then how I do it now
I am pretty sure full screen programs launch only on the primary display. That has been my experience since 7.

yeah.. that's the problem, but I want it to launch on the secondary display
There's a keyboard shortcut for moving apps between monitors in Win8. I believe it's Ctrl+Win+arrow key (I'm not at my multi-mon system at the moment). I haven't tried it with a full-screen app yet, but you may want to give it a shot. It's said to work with Store apps (which are full screen) just fine.
Are you talking about the Modern UI games or Desktop?
If it is the Modern UI games, then just open the Start Screen on that monitor by pulling your mouse to the lower left corner of the screen until you see the Start Screen "icon" show up and click.
Launch the Modern UI app/game from there and it will launch from whatever screen the Start Screen was on.
Now, if you are talking about Desktop Apps/Games, that's another monster. Most will remember which display they were last opened from.
What I do with Metro apps is click the top and drag down, like I'm going to kill the app, but instead just drag it to whatever screen I want it on. For non-Metro apps like the post before mine said, most programs will remember the window they were on last.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, Metro apps aren't the problem either, like you guys say, they worked that out just fine.
I'm talking about desktop apps (like most games still are, and will be for a while I think).
Most games don't remember the last display the were on, they just open on the primary display for me..
Have you tied Win+Page Down ?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mmfh/
Try this.
That looked exactly like what I need!
Being able to create a rule for an application, so that it launches on the display you want.
But I'm afraid the app doesn't work as perfect as I'd hoped..
I've tried many different settings, but games like far cry 3 or assassin's creed 3 still open on my primary display..
For Far Cry a quick alt + tab does the job (then it goes to my secondary display in borderless window), but it's not perfect..
But thanks! I'll keep it, I'll play with it some more.
Yes, it scans on intervals of time I think, and I haven't used it for games, but I believe you're supposed to make sure the game is in windowed mode first.
Yeah, kind of got it to work for Hitman, but not perfect, like I said.
Perhaps another solution:
Would it be possible to create a shortcut/hotkey to switch primary display?
The advantage of windows 8 is that switching primary display doesn't change a lot for your open windows, or start menu.
They just remain on the same display.
That would make it very easy to quickly swap primary display and start the game from start menu.
Win+P, duplicate displays.
Nope, that won't work either, aspect ratio is different.
I use extended display, so I always just make display 2 the primary before starting the game.
I was able to make a shortcut to het screen resolution config screen now, so I at least don't need go to desktop, right click... anymore now
(shortcut: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl)
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I figured since what I I'm trying to do involves Android Wear, I'd post in the Wear fourms.
So anyways, I recently found the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy app runs on Wear but the app runs in the watch's "landscape" mode, which makes the already impractical app virtually unusable.
Is there any way to Force the app to display in the watch's "portrait" position? It's a square screen, so it would still keep the same resolution, just flipped.
Thanks! And again, sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
I've used "Set Orientation"

I've tried that app before but it always just gives me a blank white screen when I run it.
Luckily someone who had previously decompiled the app I wanted shared their APK with me. They removed the forced landscape mode, and the app now displays in portrait, but I'm still curious to know if there is a way to force an app to run in portrait when it's forced to run in landscape without editing the code.
I ran it on the phone first to see where stuff is.
