[Q] Regarding OEX ROM - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

can anyone inform me which ROM I need to have installed first? 2.3.5 or 2.2?
Thank you.

You need 3.2 kernel. You may upgrade from Tmn stock rom. Use also a 3.2 recovery like 4.0.0.5.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused, don't you mean .32 kernel? Doesn't that mean that I shouldn't upgrade to 2.3.5?

yep 2.2 based rom with .32 kernel. It is the same as oxygen but tweaked. Don't update to 2.3.5 if you want to try this.

alright, thanks!

GB or Froyo Kernel?

Hi!
I'm currently using Epyslon3's CM7.1.0 on 2.2.2 official kernel for my country.
I would like to flash his ICS rom but, I need to flash GB kernel.
I saw a topic on this forum that you cannot downgrade from 2.3.4 kernel.
Does it refers to all 2.3.4 and 2.3.6 kernels depending on a region, or just to that chinese kernel ?
My current kernel is working perfectly, but I don't want to lose downgrade function.
Can someone help me ?
GB kernel to use to try the GB ICS is available either on ICS thread or in the thread in general forum. Search it out
Or you can try Quarx's Froyo kernel build too, no need to change the kernel you are using currently. Check relevant thread here.
And this should be in general or Q&A, not dev forum.
You can downgrade from the gingerbread kernel, but you can't downgrade if you flashed a full gingerbread sbf. So don't worry if you flash a kernel as long as you don't flash a sbf.
So I can flash a nandroid backup and I won't lose the downgrade possibility?

[Q] Unable to install custom ROM after flashing Gingerbread ROM from Motorola.

Hey guys,
After I flashed the Official Android 2.3 Gingerbread SBF from Motorola for my Motorola Milestone 2, I then realised that I can't downgrade to Froyo, and doesn't have Chinese language support but my parent need Chinese language in order to use the phone.
I heard that those upgraded with the official gingerbread from Motorola, can only flash the ones with the GB kernel. (Can I know which custom ROM have GB kernel?
Thanks!

sounds like you tired to install over a froyo rom/kernel, did you upgrade to 2.3 official before installing the .35 recovery and rom?

hi
i am using miui from the last few months now, i installed cyanagen , all these roms are based on 2.3 and at present i am using miui_u8800_2.2.24 andi tried to install rom from this rom only, i dont use froyo, but still the problem persists,
can u help
You need to install OFFICIAL 2.3.5 if you want to use .35 kernel ROMs (new CM7.2, Aurora, new MIUI...). It is not enough if you just install a custom 2.3 ROM beacuse older 2.3 ROMs use .32 kernel, so you need to update to official 2.3.5 which also changes some other files so you can use .35 kernel and from official you can go to .35 kernel custom ROMs.
now different prob

hi
thanks for what u said but
i installed official 2.3.5 but now there is no imei and when i try to load into pink screen to change the recovery, it is not mounting, seems there r no files in it,
please help
and also when i revert back to 2.2 it shows files in boot screen in boot loader (pink Screen) and there i can change the latest recovery 5.5.0.4 but again the problem is back to .32, is there any way i can install only kernel to first change from .32 to .35 and then try to install a different rom (.35)
i would also like to add the official update i used was Android 2.3 V100R001C00B526G001 and now there is one more update Android 2.3 V100R001C00B528G001, currently i am downloading that, i will let u know what happens after i download that

You can change recovery with root explorer. Here is a great guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
Every ROM from beta2 on has locked bootloader so you cant change files when in pink screen but you can unlock it after you rooted it and changed recovery (search development forum for tutorial)
Problem solved
