Well it wasn't that big of a deal really...
Does the Bravia engine really make a difference? It isn't placebo, is it? ...Just out of curiosity.

Well in optimus x2 doesnt seem placebo in my eyes , or the photos are fake. Dunno. The second one seems to be more clear.

[Q] bravia engine..!!

hello arc users.. can someone post screenshots when the bravia engine is working and when its not.. i seriously wanna know if at all it makes any difference..!!
Can't provide a screenshots atm, but I was pretty impressed by Bravia. I usually never see any difference with stuff like that (especially in pc games - eh? high res pack? don't notice anything ) - but the Bravia engine really makes a difference when it comes to color.
You can see it quite good on the example pictures (especially the biker/sunset one). If you have rather pale pictures, you won't see so much diffrence, though. It only brightens up what is already there.
However, I usually have bravia switched off to save battery. Would love to have it on all the time, though.

[Q] Bravia engine

we all know that the trip has implemented

No, he actually didn't. What's your point?
"TripNarc V08" bravia engine is working .... you can put on a cd as 007 TW wolf .. by the way is the best ...
It's placebo, So consider it implemented in every rom & you're good to go
I tested the Trip's 50% implemented Bravia engine vs. Wolf's 6.1.3 and there was no difference in video quality. Although, pictures did look a bit crisper via the TripNArc rom. It was not mind blowing by any means.

I almost spilled my coffee with that one!
I really don't get the 50% implementation...
I could be wrong but you either get it or you don't.
Anyway, I've tried all the custom ROMs out there,
differences in display quality are not huge or noteworthy.
Since the drivers (kernel) are the same, not much can be done with minor tweaks and workarounds.
And specifically about Bravia engine, correct me if I am wrong, but hardware plays a big part also.
The only CD with 50% functional bravia engine is "TripNarc v8"
What do you mean "CD"? From my understanding 50% implementation was included in all TripNArc Roms. I tested out .5, .8, &.9 and there were no differences in video quality just pictures.
But the quality of the roms are different ... v5, v8, v9 .... will more clearly in your images and videos in v8.

Just installed v8 on one of my X10s. Going to test it out to see if there is any difference at all between v5 & v9.
Edit: Looks like my v8 is faulty...hmmm...

Great Idea!!!
Thats a really good Idea, of course... to be the second one, i post three battery/symbol mods. Pictures of my Homescreen are added, if someone like them i will post the uot.zip here... battery and symbols are in one .zip file, that means they will be installed together... the third one includes a font... they are for VU 1.31
The background pic is not included, maybe I should say that in addition of this
reserved for further use
...another one...
Added Juwes Ramscript for those who like it...

Ok, here they are... the 10-57-6 File is the one with the digital battery , the 07-02-1 file is the one which i called "coloured tachy" and the 11-58-1 is the mod with the circled Battery and the font...
Just to say it again, with installing the Zip-Files you will get the Battery Symbol AND the Statusbar Symbols... its not possible to apply them particular...

Ok, here some error I met now, basically my mp3 works well, but after I open WiFi and then close it...during I listen mp3 and it works appear a bit laggy like hanging awhile for each 5 seconds and it does keep repeating unless I restart then it works well again. Is it error from sense 3.0 after open WiFi then will crash with mp3?? And this situation happens too for phone ring tone once I close WiFi. Sorry for poor English, hope you'll understand it.

Bravia engine optimization

This thread is in relation to the bravia engine and whether it will be possible in future to keep it ON at all times. Even at homescreens? As we know the screen really looks vibrant with it and many owners would want it to be ON at all times.
I know it wont work on other roms but can it work at least on custom roms based on original XZ rom?
Lets discuss this here as it might be important.

Here's the thing: we already know that the final release firmware will have screen calibration. Surely one of the settings will be tantamount to continuous BE, at least on the saturation side of things? I think we're already getting it, without the need to hack,... though feel free to hack anyway
AFAIK it's not possible
It won't be possible unless someone gets very close to the source code of it. For photos it's a simple processing algorithm baked into the Album app, for videos it's an extra processing that gets done while decoding. You can't simply apply that to the whole screen.

Is this confirmed? And can we get the same effect as a bravia engine ON? Its not just about saturation only though.

Why not? In the end you can see the Bravia Engine just as some tweaks that are being applied.
I think BE2 work only in photos and videos but it well be awesome if some one make it run everywhere :victory:

LOL that caught me
if the XZ has screen calibration then BE2 isnt needed anymore in the home screen/web browser imo
when there's screen calibration included, does setting up and calibrating the screen affect the BE2, too?

firstly what the heck is a wolfson DAC it is something u invented
secondly visit this link http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9505_galaxy_s4-5371.php
dnt say gsmarena isnt authentic and lastly
we have the same DAC manufacturer as htc one that is Yamaha and we all agree htc is best audio plus am saying stock vs stock but if u want mods the pure x mod makes the sound on i9505 rlly magnificent plz dont trash talk am not doing claims am having facts unlike u
u bought a cheaper phone just be satisfied by it dont claim it is better
Have you tried BMSound?
As for the I9505 sound quality, it's not really that bad. It's no Wolfson, granted, but it's also not crap (as the Yamaha DAC on the S2).
My biggest issue are the earphones, or the lack of proper ones, to be true.

I've tried a few as well and so far Viper4Android FX is the best so far, IMO. Nice amount of tweakable options, able to drive the phone hard and clean without distortion...better than MusicFX and much better than any beats audio/ BMAudio implementation ive seen on the i9505 so far. The author seems to have a lot of plans for it as well

The problem with gsmarena is they arent consistent with their testing and as such they aren't particularly trustworth when ti comes to RMAA testing.
-------
Wolfson are well respected, more so for their dacs used in av amps than phones but that's only because people take less notice of what DAC a phone has, generally. That sort of stuff is reserved for us geeks I've no doubt wolfson are top of the pile here. Whether that translates in to audiable differences is a different question altogether though; I think DACs play a far lesser role in overall picture for sound quality in phones than perhaps some people like to admit. Yes we can bench the hardware with RMAA and see the numbers are better, but that doesnt always translate in to better audio quality and i really do think people concentrate on the DACs too much. I believe the rest of the hardware is far more important - the amp, for one thing. That's a different discussion however.
Wolfson best but the i9505 chip set ain't that far behind. Let stick to topic eh? In reality you would have to be running some sweet cans and have damn good ears to tell the difference between both versions of the s4 chip sets. Disagree? Blind test i9500 and 9505 yourself and see if you can tell the difference.... I have and my ears ain't good enough to differentiate between the two.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
Pretty sure that the I9505 with some future decent mods it could maybe even get better sound than with siyah (scoobydoo) sound on the sIII. This chip imo has much potential. I did a tryout with poweramp yesterday I was amazed and blown away to be honest

I'm using viper mod and bmsound atm. There is a post in the at&t themes and app forum for where someone detailed what they did. It sounds pretty good surprisingly. The OP claims that those two work well with bmsound amplifying lows and viper doing a very good job at mids and highs. I'd post the link but at work right now.
This thread has obviously run its course...
