[Q] Start screen with multi-monitor - Windows 8 General

I am having a two monitor setup with second monitor extending the primary one. I am facing a weird issue. Whenever i start interacting with stuff opened in my 2nd monitor, the metro start screen opened in the 1st one vanishes and the latest program/metro app opened before (in the 1st one) occupies the 1st monitor again.
Is that expected behavior. Its very confusing and does it mean there is no possibility to view start screen while we keep working on second screen ??

It's the same for me, so probably it's the expected beahavior.

Yes, this is completely intended. Stupid, but intended. You cannot have your metro start screen span two monitors. You cannot have multiple metro apps open on multiple windows either.

Weather animation

Hi everyone!
I found the weather animation very useful due to my agronomic specialty. So I can quickly react on the situation.
Is it possible to make it repeating constantly (as one animation gone so it repeats right after) ?
P.S. Just in case - I have Cookie`s Hometab and CHT Editor installed. So maybe it can have some special adjustments.
Thanx.
I am intrest in that to..
The device should lock and turn off the screen after a short time (due to battery saving), and whenever you unlock the device, it performs the animation.
So it happens exactly at the moment you need it. Isn't that enough? Unless you want to keep the screen always on. (mobile phone is not constructed for that. It could simply overheat after a while, even with this fast processor.)
Besides, I personally would say that your profession is too serious to rely on this kind of service.
Even if it is accurate enough for your area, it fails sometimes to update the weather for hours. (search for numerous posts on this forum that are regularly appearing on this subject).
I would rather find a few (not one) good independent services covering your area (make sure that they are not using the same source), put them on the firs quick link positions on the home screen and make my judges based on the conclusions drawn from watching them all.
But that's just me...

[Q] Erratic Touch Behavior?

Has anyone run into issues w/touch on this device periodically?
I've been having problems with mine from time to time where a touch is registered in the wrong location... like very wrong, I notice this most often when looking through menus in the system settings.
I fight with scrolling properly in a few diff apps. One in particular is pocket informant. Some times I also have trouble switching home screens and the transition starts to twitch when it hits about half screen then ultimately returns to the screen I'm trying to move away from.
If you would like a video I can try to capture it
Is this common or should I start an RMA and get a fresh new A7 on the way?
I've had this problem sometimes. I think it's because the screen is probably low quality or something is.
Ive also noticed that if I bring it too close to my face to see the side buttons in the dark, my breath on the screen makes things jump around spastically.

ZTE Open C running Firefox OS v1.3 - Review

This is not so much a review, but mostly the bad points I had found when using the new OS.
I posted a while back about the Firefox OS running on a phone, and was very pleased to hear they released a phone for sale in the UK on Ebay. So I made the leap, I brought the phone
Firstly, I am very happy with this purchase! I fully knew it was a work in progress much like the first Android OS were, so I was expecting a few technical hitches, and so far I have only come across a few small glitches/features that I have trouble with.
#1 Copy & paste.
I could not find anywhere on the phone where you can mark text, copy and paste. This being one of the things I used most in all my smartphone experience was surprised not to have on the Firefox OS.
#2 No SIM inserted (Insert a SIM to enable usage)
For whatever reason, this message keeps popping up. It does not affect my data, nor the functionality of the phone but, when coming to view my (Usage) app. Nothing seems to work.
#3 When deleting an app, glitch
Sometimes the screen glitches and you are unable to swipe along the screens because the app is stuck on the last docking screen.
#4 Calendar app keeps loading even when I keep closing it.
I like to have all the apps closed so the battery can last longer. But this app is persistent! Not a problem but I thought I should point it out.
#5 Facebook app. Works like a browser...
To view settings / your own profile in the top left you have to quit the app completely if you have browsed more than one page previous to the main news feed.
#6 No screenshot functionality (unless there is an app?)
Usually, you'd hold the power button and there would be some kind of feature to take a screenshot of the screen but it appears it is not there on Firefox OS 1.3
#7 HARDWARE Issue.
This, honestly really threw me. The battery life on this phone is actually very bad indeed. I thought my Sony Xperia Pro with 1500mAh was bad. But this really takes the biscuit. The ZTE Open C has a Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery and when fully charged. A minute into using it, it drops down to 99%.
After 20 minutes of using it. It had dropped down to 88%.
1hr. 60%...
(Keeping in mind, I only use the browser and Facebook app with data on. I don't use WIFI)
Good points.
The operating system is very stable. It has not crashed in the 4 days of using it. It's surprisingly quick considering it only has 512mb of ram! Nice and easy menus. Market place is very nice, the apps are great! And quite alot on offer already!
Overall I look forward to some updates of this OS soon, and its been a nice insight to how an open source OS can compete with the big time companies!

Need Help Finding Root Cause of UI slowdown

Hey all,
So I've had my S8 since launch and I've enjoyed it but I have an issue that I've been trying to pinpoint the cause of for a few weeks now. At a high level, if I reboot the phone in the morning, I can use it all day as I wish and it works perfectly, no slowdown anywhere and good battery life. I plug the phone in at night when I go to sleep and when I wake up I start using it again. Either right after I wake up or over the course of a few hours the phone begins to slow down with things like notification shade/app switcher crawling until I either a) reboot or b) change display resolution. Doing either of these "fixes" it until the next night and then again when I wake up I have the same issues.
I've been trying to figure out what's causing this. I've tried disabling features, uninstalling apps, etc.
One thing I have found is that when I'm having this problem if I force close 'System UI' in App Manager (this is just restarting that process since you can't kill it really) the smoothness comes back but it doesn't last as long as when I either reboot or change resolution.
My theory is that something is conflicting with the Android UI and over time it's causing it to slow down. Rebooting or changing display resolution restarts the Android UI so essentially same thing.
My first question is has anyone seen this behavior where the notification shade/app switcher (native UI not apps) slow down? I know there's at least some people on Reddit with same issue. If you have this issue does FC'ing System UI 'fix' it for you temporarily?
I'm trying to figure out what is running on my phone while I'm sleeping at night which is obviously causing this. Any ideas would be helpful. Oh also when I wake up and I go into app switcher it only shows like 3 cards where before I go to bed it would be like 10+ so something is killing apps at night too. I turned off Google backup for today and will reboot before tonight to see if maybe that's it.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.
I've had my S8+ since the launch weekend on ATT, always connected to my Gear S3, and connected to my Misfit Ray. I've not noticed any slowdown of the UI. My AOD clock is slow to show the hands if the screen is off when I use the numerical clock AOD, but nothing else observed.
I would guess you've installed (or haven't uninstalled/disabled) some apps that are using a lot of background processes. I removed/disabled the few ATT apps on the device except Call Protect, and I don't use Gmail (resource hog). I actually use very few Google apps, they're just not very well coded, it seems (maybe a "goof off" day every week isn't such a great policy?)
In settings, go to Device maintenance, click on battery, and see if anything strange is going on there under App power monitor.
I've NEVER liked Samsung phones, and I've NEVER been interested in owning one, but I saw the Galaxy Gear S3 and fell in love, and truthfully, I bought the phone as an accessory to the watch, so I'm not an apologist for any shortcomings.
Instead of restarting, go to settings/device maintenance, what's the percentage here? go to optimize, does it help? which apps use the battery most? How much RAM is available. If nothing shows up, you probably would need something like wakelock detector (it needs root) to trace apps usage, especially at night. Also you could try to force stop other apps and see which one is interfering? For example phone is slow, force stop first 10 apps, if not fixed force stop next 10, if fixed, next time force stop one at the time from that batch of tens.
Mines just started doing this the other day. I think I have an idea if the problem, I'm just trying to find proof at this point. I recently downloaded this all to let me see the upload/download speeds if my network in the notification bar. It lets you set the refresh rate, to which I set it to 2 seconds, which I knew regardless would tax my system, I just didn't expect my ui to slow to a crawl.
Delete any Bixby remapping app as well, known to cause many issues including unpredictable lag.

Tab A 8" as Smart Automation Panel

I currently have a several HD Fire's (wiped and running Lineage) as panels around my house. The main one is a 10" panel and it works great. However, the 8" panels (2018 versions) that I have in my room and at my other entrances are all just terrible. They're too slow and the build is such that they can't be kept alive while the screen is off so whenever they do come on the data on them needs to be refreshed and that can often take 15 seconds just standing there waiting.
I'm wondering if my experience would be better going with the Sammy's. I don't believe they'd need to be wiped for starters. They also appear to have a better (faster) processor over the 1.3 Ghz dual core on the Fire's. I guess the main question is, could they be set to keep updating while the screen is off? You don't want the screen on as it will kill the unit life and in a bedroom it would be a total distraction -- even if the screen is just black. Otherwise every time it comes on ActionTiles (the software most everyone uses for smart panels) will show the time as of the last time it was on and data from then as well until it refreshes.
Thanks.
