iPad3 Overheating. Stick with the 7.7 - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

iPad3 owners are saying it suffers from overheating and get's too hot to hold which is a deal breaker for a handheld device. No overheating problems with the 7.7.
http://www.techshout.com/macintosh/2012/19/new-ipad-running-a-temperature/?#

No issues with my ipad3 even when it restored everything over the icloud.
Yes it will get warm under heavy load, but then I'd be worried if it didn't as it shows the heat sink is working.
The sgs2, and tab7.7 plus everything will get warm under load, its normal

The problem people are having is not that its a little warm, but that it's so hot that it's uncomfortable to have in their hand. Surely you don't think this is acceptable?
It's great that yours do not have this issue but aparently a lot of other people experience it
My 7.7 get a litte warm if I'm charging and dowloading or using the gps at the same time, but it's not much.

No issues with the wife's either. She's been using it the whole weekend, including 4G.

I doubt the news source to be honest. No such reports of it being too hot on arguably the biggest Mac forum ( Mac rumors)
Also, I don't see any evidence of the report saying a lot of people report it being to hot to touch, just 'mixed' reports.
Sensationalist news IMO based on nothing

If you Google for "iPad 3 Overheating" then you will find loads of overheating reports from many different sources.

I think that Ipad users are not accustomed to their devices running warm, I've been using a friends Ipad2 for a week and played a few movies at 720p in software mode just to put as much strain at the processor and it does get slightly warm, the Galaxy Tab7.7 on the other hand or mostly any other andriod device (aside from the other tabs ) do get warm alot so we andriod users find this normal, the long time ipad users find this new and probably bothersome.

Many iPad3 users are reporting it is too hot to hold which is completely unacceptable and something unheard of on the 7.7 or other Android tablets.

The overheating reports are widespread (try Googling) so not just one bad device. If you listen to the video carefully then there are also reports of lag, probably due to the processor not capable of handling the screen resolution.

A lot of people are also reporting that theirs run perfectly fine, I guess its luck of the draw.

When your iPad3 is too hot to hold then it is not much comfort to know that some others are OK. Apple needs to improve it's quality control for this situation is unacceptable.

Mine isn't running hot and I just was playing that new Air Supremacy HD game while streaming audio to a Bluetooth speaker. I suspect this may not be affecting all units.
However, the comparisons of the new iPad to the Galaxy 7.7 are kind of overwrought here. They are very much different devices due to the different size.
Whether or not you like the OLED screen versus the "Retina" display is really a matter of personal preference.

Not too surprised by the reports. We've heard the same thing about previous iPads. And when you sell 3 million new iPads in a week, there are bound to be more than a handful of bad products in the mix.
I got my iPad. Mine gets warm when I'm playing games or watching videos for a long period of time. Usually don't notice any heat at all when doing regular things like surfing the web or reading. Mine definitely doesn't get uncomfortably hot fortunately.
If someone is interested in an iPad, I probably wouldn't let this discourage you. It's a pretty nice tablet. And I think the chances are probably small you'll have an issue with it getting too hot. If it does, return it and get your money back.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/19/new-ipad-10-degrees-hotter/

I have two iPad3's.. They do get about the 10 degrees warmer those reviews are stating.. it's not too hot to where you can't hold it, but it's definately annoying.. It really feels like you're holding a laptop in your hands because of the heat now.
Night and day feeling from a iPad2 as far as heat goes.

Hot when playing!!

Is it just me or when you play the phone gets ridiculously hot??
Try playing avatar...download it from the game center...after 5 minutes of playing, apart the battery going flat in seconds, the display becomes so hot it almost burns!! The battery temp was 42°!!!
Anyone noticed the same?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Anybody has notice it?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Think 42c is ok, it does get quite hot but the phone will have its own threshold to don't worry bout it. Top left is where cpu/gpu is.
yes the phone do heat up when i try to torture the CPU, especially near the rear camera, but I still find the temperature level acceptable
Watching videos long period of time over wifi makes the screen almost untouchable.! Ditto the hottnes to from the rear of phone by camera.!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
for me display is not main concern, the area around the camera is getting too hot to touch lol. And it wasn't even a 3d game! It was the game cyberlords....
Although i can say not all games have this. I also played Baseball superstars 2011 for over an hour with no problems with heating.... very weird!
I have had the same issue, But only while it was in a case and charging...
Getting it out of the case helped enough, didn't become untouchable at any point
Sgt dutchy Try a Samsung official vented case there 7.95 on ebay
Mine also gets very hot around the camera and sim card area. I usually take my gel case and battery cover off and stick it in front of the a/c for a few mins. That brings its temperature down
Cpu's get awfully hot when running games..........
Sent from my S using Tapatalk
Ok then I guess it's normal...just wondering if the camera would get any damage being so near the cpu...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
my girlfriend is the same way
Got my SGS2 2 days ago... and played Avatar a lot. What exactly do you guys expect from a dual core 1.2ghz CPU squeezed in a 8.9mm case??? You either have NO IDEA about technic or your hobby is to complain.
Ok, it gets warm... but it's far away from being hot or even "untouchable".
Why don't you try to use SetCPU and set down CPU volt ? I think it may make the phone work cooler. :d
Before you guys are quick to jump, I thought this was some fluke as well, but I experienced this for the first time last night. Only had my browser running, was viewing a fairly graphics intensive site, and boom, I could barely hold my phone anymore.
Now, keep in mind, I've had the device since 5/4, and have done just about everything on the phone, including lots of gaming and web browsing. Not sure why it went hot potato this one time... could be the rogue process theory... but it got so hot that I could no longer hold the device. Just keep a lookout for this, especially if you have a cover on the device.

And judging from your signature you run the latest firmware (WKE2)?
I think downplaying the heating issues is not a good idea. The atrix doesn't heat up much while on 3G or playing 3d games. It seems while being great looking, the thinness of this phone is the Achilles heel. Maybe some people are okay with it being hot but samsung should not be allowed to get away with it while we are at it.
I also think there's some process making phones very hot as well. I noticed 2 months after jailbreaking my iPhone 4 that it got extremely hot to touch after using wifi for a couple min. Also some 3d games started to make it hot while they never did before. After a week of that I simply restored it to stock and the heating was gone..
I know it's a different phone and os but my point is the issue can be fixable probably. I would like this to be solved or else the sensation is looking better slowly.
this is disappointing, so we got a crappy camera and now the screen heating up to a point its unconfortable to touch it? :\ im having second thoughts now
The phone still isnt released in portugal.

Camera works great, no idea where you're getting crappy camera from. Plus, the negativity is completely unwarranted. This is still by far the BEST phone I've ever used and has exceeded all expectations... and mind you, my expectations were high.
But, that doesn't mean there aren't going to be bugs. With a dual core running at 1.2GHz + 1 GB of RAM, what you have is basically a complete computer system in your pocket. I remember back in the days, there were programs even on my PC that would cause the system fan to kick in and make the CPU go bonkers... it happens. I seriously believe this is a software bug... either with the rogue process issuing a device call that is causing that particular chip to overheat... or it's just a flaw with the current driver controlling the hardware. All things that I firmly believe will be fixed over time.
Good news is, I've been using this phone nonstop since I got it almost 2 weeks ago, and it's only happened once. I'm personally not too worried.

Please....i need ur smart and honest opinion

Im using xperia arc as of now but im planning to buy sgs2 just for future proofing of a smartphone device..but im reading a lot of negative comments as to overheating aand yellowish tint on the screen and pinkish discoloration in the cam..or all u sgs2 users, can u comment with full honesty on ur device? Iys really my first choice..htc sensation will be my 2nd choice.. Will that overheating be fixed with a firmware upgrade? How bout the cam, battery and discoloration problem?
please please i need a smart and honest opinion..
► Well, I don't have any Overheating issues. I don't think there is any overheating issue if I am not wrong. Yes, it could be possible that some devices are damaged in manufacturing, but that's very few. Also keep in mind that the device will be heated if you play game for prolonged hours, if you play games while charging, if you put a bad/fully back covered case while charging/playing, but that doesn't mean Overheat. Always check Temperature of the battery before quoting it as 'Overheat', without a figure that term is meaningless.
► Pink spot in photos were a firmware related problem, which is gone away with new firmware releases. You could also try to update the Camera firmware separately.
► For Yellowish tint in display see this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079444
Besides, no device is perefect, each and every has their own problem, you just have to find a near perfect one, which I believe GSII is. You can go for Sensation too, then you'd have to visit XDA for much more time, as it will have more problem than GSII
Regards.
The only issues I have had is a broken USB port which I got a swapped out phone for, so no problem there.
The battery life is great as far as I am concerned even when moderately hammering the phone...4-6 hours of screen on time per charge depending upon what you are doing with it. It's only bad if you use badly coded apps installed I think.
Hardware issues such as a dodgy screen can easily be resolved by taking the phone back for a swap.
Software issues will all get sorted out with firmware updates I believe. Not that I really think there is much wrong.
People complaining on forums is a bad method of judging a phone, after all millions of people have the phone and there are relatively few real complaints on here.
I say go for it, you won't regret it, have had many phones by lots of different manufacturers and this is genuinely the first one I cannot stop playing with. It's a real life changer to be honest.
1. No yellow tint here, at least me and my friends can't see it on my phone even if it exists and general opinion is that it exists on every SII to a lesser or greater extent.
2. Pink spot on camera here, no matter which official firmware i updated with Kies, no matter what camera firmware i installed. It only pops up in certain conditions, that's why people say they don't have it or say it's fixed.
3. Overheating - depends on what one considers to be overheating. My battery temeprature never got past 48 % degrees, but this temperature feels hot for your fingers when touching the screen or back cover.
thanks for both of u guys...
implanning to buy maybe this last week of august..
in my xperia arc experience, i didnt encounter any overheating..in fact even when im playing need for speed or heavy gunnerm or gt racing which are my 3 fave games my phone dont event get warm...in charging, yes, but only for the first 30 mins i guess..
i feel it gets warm only when im using 3G when browsing..
i hope those problems as just an isolated issues...btw, im working ins saudi arabia as of now..im not sure about the latest firmware available here. i heard about gingerbread 2.3.4 already released for SGS2..is it already available in ur country or u still have to flash it yourself?
If your not in a rush maybe you could wait till the holidays, its rumored that a new andriod reference device ( the Nexus S ) will be out by that time, also a new Galaxy S line device for sure.
For the issues you posted:
1.) Overheating - Some phones seem to run hotter than others, ive been through a couple of replacements and this one I have runs hotter when gaming/surfing and also runs noticeably hotter when charging.
2.) Yellow tinting on the left side - Luck of the draw, if your buying the phone for its screen it might tick you off depending on how severe the issue is that you got on the phone, Using a 2.3.4 kernel alleviates this issue but the left side is a tad bit dimmer and is noticeable proportional to the yellow tint. Some users are not affected by this because they plainly dont see it (which is great) others have accepted this as a "normal" defect hence why samsung never rectified this issue. There are also legit QC issues on the screen refer to this
3.) Pink spot on camera - we dont really know if all phones are affected by Im guessing NOT due to the very low participation on the thread in XDA and also a very low or non existent internet media coverage about this, a very minor issue TBH.
4.) Battery Life - Its great, dont expect it to out last any netbook or laptop though.. I believe only the IP4 can outlast the battery on the S2 especially with wifi 24/7 with tons of IM and email apps.
i see no problems with mine .
love it in fact .

Bought from T-Booth, unlocked from Bell to Rogers using an unlock service. Absolutely LOVE the device but the battery life is frustrating. With great power... comes great responsibility in keeping a charger with you. Apparently. lol.
I feel like everyone is being really picky when it comes to those issues, its just like the whole iPhone's antenna gate problem, it wasn't really a big problem because when i had the iPhone, i never dropped a call. I bet you that you wouldn't even notice the issues if you didn't read this forum

Lol, but you didn't have AT&T. You don't antenna gate for dropped calls with that network
Buying a new phone for futureproofing is always a bad solution. No matter what, there will ALWAYS be new and better technology in less than a year after (Moore's law applies here too)... when that is said, the SGS2 really is a good candidate for holding on to in the next couple of years. But don't buy a phone, and think it's futureproofed - it's NOT.
If it's shear power, then the SGS2 really is a good choice, forget about the Sensation... it's really not that good!! I will say that the SGS2 is the best phone, i have ever owned... and that is said very honestly!!
If it's shear design... keep your Arc, as it's a very nice phone, and very beautyfull to look at. It also has a good camera, which is slightly better than the 2 other phones, when it comes to taking pictures in the dark. And it has specs, that is okay, and apart from space for apps - it will stand it's grounds for some time yet. And when it can't cut the mustard anymore, the SGS3 will be out...
Tend to agree, you will future proof for about a month or two, with the rate that new android devices arrive the SGS2 will be out of date by Christmas, but that doesn't mean its forgotten, it will be one fast beast for quite some time until the quad cores arrive next year.
The only problem I have is the incredibly slow charging time even on the standard official mains charger.
No pink tint in camera, no or I cant see this screen yellow thing.
Why the need to upgrade from the Arc in the first place? I came from the Nokia 5800, and that thing is just too limited for my use for example. Good thing S2 came out just in time

Well just got done playing NFS for about 2 hours and its pretty damn hot...can almost pin point it just to the right of the vol up rocker...its not noticeable while holding it BC its so high up...wonder if the purposely put it away somewhere people would put their hands ..... I also noticed the hotter it got the more the game lagged, could be quincedence but it does make sense...

Yup! Its the CPU for sure! That's exactly where the heat is coming from on mine
Mine gets hot enough to make the whole back a little warm after a while. Unfortunately, as one might expect, it does get a little "crashy" when it's hot. Anyone else getting that too? I've been playing games from the Humble Bundle such as Machinarium and Eufloria, and they are prone to force close once the heat builds up. Say 45 mins. No fc dialogue box though; just crashes to home screen.
I'm impressed with 2 hours of Need for Speed... not just the tablet's endurance but your thumbs. =)
Yeah mine gets warm as anything does when being pushed for long periods of time. Nothing uncomfortable though - warms my hands nicely when its getting colder!
I don't know why people are surprised by heat coming from a high-performance CPU/GPU.
Just because it's a mobile processor, that doesn't mean the laws of physics are going to be suspended.

It's a fair point; for the record I'm not surprised about a little heat.
I'm surprised that my Transformer Prime is outperforming it in these games with no heat and no crashes.
I have the infinity too, and it gets kinda hot, but not like the N10. Maybe I dont notice it though too much because it seems like a general hotness throughout the whole back. It's not just pinpointed to the top like the N10. Ah well

Doubtful considering that my Nexus 7 was a turd in gaming compared to Galaxy Note 10.1 Exynos 4412 and Nexus 10 Exynos 5250 is even faster. If anything all I see are a lot of comments for popular games on Google Play regarding Asus Transformer series (TF201, TF300, TF700) not working or has performance issues when it's fine on other non-Asus Transformer series tablets.
Mine gets warm like everyone else's but I'll take that over the laggyness from my TF700.
My nexus 10 got really hot while video chatting through google talk yesterday.
Mine get hot but not to a point that its uncomfortable when I put my hand on it. I am glad its on the top rear though as I dont touch that side ever when I'm using the tablet. My prime and tf700 doesnt have a faster gpu and plus the aluminum back does a great job dissipating heat compared to the n10 which is mostly plastic back. I love gaming on this device.

[Q] Should I buy a Nexus 10?

I'm in the market for a tablet, and everything about this thing makes me want it... Spec wise, anyway.
Reading about tons of issues with it, mostly with light bleed, I'm wondering if i should pass this one up.
What would you do, after actually owning one? Any regrets? What way would you like to have gone instead?
I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Love it. The people complaining about light bleed and such are just (literally) looking for anything to complain about.
It's a great device. No regrets.

The temperature throttling is the biggest issue (if not really the only thing) that was bugging me for the longest time. In short, you'd have to practically sit in a freezer or something to play any demanding games, and even then this doesn't guarantee that the tablet won't throttle due to wattage consumption (in other words, you cannot just sit permanently at the advertised 1.7GHz CPU speed). Games like NFS:MW would slideshow almost at times because of this.
So far, it seems to be less of an issue on 4.2.2 and 4.2.1 custom ROM's, but still present to an extent.
This seems the best bet for me. I just don't want to go through what seems hell and back just to get a replacement if the one i order is defective like so many seem to be. I hate to say that if i want reliability i would have to get an iPad but screwww that.
I'd mostly be using the tablet for netflix, youtube, and web browsing, so as long as i don't have any issue with video playback i shouldn't have a problem getting what i need out of it.
I've changed my mind back and forth more than five times about which tablet to get and this one never leaves the corner of my eye. I need some reassurance!
Since you're not using it for seriously heavy gaming, go for it. It's still your best bet.
About light bleed, I can't notice it in mine unless I crank it up to 90% brightness in a dark room. Not really that much of an issue tbh.
Doesn't warranty cover severe light bleeds?

Does that seem to happen with anyone else, being at 90% brightness? If so, i keep my screens at around 30% to keep my eyes from straining. Maybe out won't be a big issue for me
I play shadow gun on it for hours , and only sometimes in hours , does it throttle down, I put down the tablet for a while get something to drink and get back on gaming . Reading and web browsing are an absolute charm. Flipboard is amazing. Dont worry about the Nexus 10 octa , it would probably be released by June , so the tablet is the most powerful one in the market for atleast six months. and the beautiful thing is apps will be optimised for A15s once that comes out , so its a win win for us users.
Tegra 4 is only available after Q4 2012.
Well i ordered one. Crossing my fingers! Thanks everyone
"Should I buy a Nexus 10?"
Yup.

Cheers! You won't regret it. Let us know of your experience with Gnex. :good:
I used several samsung 7 inch before this one as well as several android smart phones. Is the n10 problem free? No, but I grab it before I reach for any of my other devices. I love it and when they fix the few bugs, I will love it even more.
Someone would have to come up with something pretty amazing to make me buy it over a nexus (no microsoft, not talking to you)

Anyone find Sony tablet z underwhelming after waiting for it so long?

After reading GLOWING review of Tablet Z all over the net from professional reviewer wer and your shared experience on XDA. I was honestly quite excited that Sony Tablet Z finally arrived in Thailand a few days ago.
Today I decided to go check it out with intent to purchase one back home. But after playing with it I honestly couldn't make my self buy the tablet. T_T I will try not to comment on the tablet's aesthetic (which I find so so..).
1. The tablet is quite thin, so thin in fact that it flex!. I don't like that too much.
2. The build-in speakers are horrid. I played one of the promo's vid on the tablet and the sound comes out as very high pitch whine.. couldn't believe no one pick this up earlier.
3. Home screen is quite laggy . Unbecoming of Quad core with 2MB rams. My current phone is Galaxy Nexus (almost 2 years old now) is much better in term of smoothness.
4. One of my biggest concern is the 6000mah battery. Not very much considering it is a 10inch tablet. My tablet habits is not like my phone. Usually it might be left on the desk days at a time before I pick it up and play with it. The last thing I want is to be having to plugged it in all the time when I need to use it.
Since no one really report on the screen on time yet, this is quite a mystery to me.
These are my honest concerns, I am by no mean trying to bash the Tablet Z after waiting for it to arrive for so long, so I will just share my 0.2c and hopefully my opinion will change as more user start to share their experience.
Regards!

You complain because it flexes, has a small battery and the speakers suck, but you would be the SAME guy who also complains if they made it twice as thick so it didnt flex and had more room for a bigger battery and speakers. Do you see whats frustrating about reading this post? You cant have it both ways sometimes bud.

Yup. Just like everyone *****es when a device isn't 1080p, but then *****es about lag and/or power consumption of 1080p devices.
hint: There isn't a mobile GPU on the market that can achieve 1080p or greater without sacrificing UI performance or power consumption. (In the case of Adreno320 - to have good performance on a 1080p screen, you must bump the clock speed at least one step, which bumps up the GPU voltage, which bumps up power consumption.)
Hi,
I got my tablet z from japan 3 weeks ago and used it for 1 week. then I sold it cause I'm waiting for a white one here in US (the Japanese version is black)
From my 1 week of experience, I can respond to your questions:
1. too thin that it flexes: On the contrary, when I had mine, I specifically tested to see if I could bend it. I felt the structure to be steady and firm for its thinness.
2. I find it strange that you complain about it's speakers. Usually tablets come with 2 speaker holes, the tablet Z come with 4. As a result, the speaker quality is much better than usual. I never experienced the "high pitch sound quality"you mentioned, on the contrary, I watched several movies on it and it was excellent.
3.The lagginess is something I can partially agree with you. Out of box, I kind of felt it had a very mild noticeable delay, compared to my old samsung galaxy tab, which was extremely smooth. However, for some reason the "lagness" went away in a few days. I don't know if it's because I turned off all the battery preservation mode, or there was some tweaks in settings. Honestly cant remember. The point is when I sold it I was 100% satisfied with it's smoothness. no delay or stalls in opening any apps, or opening several apps at once. No lagging in shifting between apps.
4. I can vouch that the battery is excellent. I turned off all battery conservation mode (STAMINA mode), and used it moderately: surfing web, reading e-books, mild gaming, a lot of movies. with huge use it could last 2 days before charging and with moderate use it could go up to 3-4. I think the overall efficiency of the snapdragon cpu is the reason.
My conclusion: I think you picked up a faulty demo unit of the tablet z, especially the speaker issue. I am sure mine didnt have that and I'm hoping the white one I'm waiting for is fine too.

Well, my first impression is kind of different. The first thing that came up in my mind when I lifted it up was, this thing is so thin and it's so easy to carry with just one hand. The weight is just awesome and it had my eyes on first sight lol. For speaker, I can understand that it's waterproof so it wont be that loud (I also using xperia z at the moment so I understand that part perfectly well) but I do hope that it will be a little bit louder though because for me it will be most likely use for multimedia. Next, for smoothness part, if you ever have a chance to play with Asus Transformer Infinity with stock ROM (before they updated to 4.2.1) you will say it in different way lol.
I realised that my negative experience will probably angered many people out there and I apologise. I appreciate all input to my post and thank you for your patient.
Two of my concerns, with flex and loud speakers stemmed from having to share the tablets with children. You guys might understand my fuss better if you have children of your own. As for tablet flexing, putting on protective case will probably help but I couldn't help worrying about it.
As for the speakers, I just wish the speakers on bigger tablet are loud. Often time playing video, cartoon, video call on my phone is really annoying. You almost have to put your head next to your speaker on the phone sometime. Kids will probably complain constantly about not able to hear their favourite cartoon. You guys might be right about broken speakers on the promo unit. Will check it out again later.
Thanks.

Flex? Why would u want to try and bend it, just because its thin. Speakers sound great u can use eq to get what sound u like. 4.2.2 will sort any lag but ive not experienced any
Battery on video loop last 6 hrs mines in stamina mode and ive been on it two days
Well if you keep waiting for that ONE tablet your waiting forever. "Usually tablets come with 2 speaker holes".. lol the ones I see have only ONE speaker and this has 2. Yet even that people cry. If Sony put them higher ..duh there in the wrong place and your hands cover them. Now there at the bottom and I read again your hands cover them.. pffft.
Lag.. granted I see that on the screen yet EVERY tablet has something. Its Android lol. One of the things I like about this tablet is its a hit and Sony will be doing everything to fix anything..well my hope is that.

Man you dont have to apologize. People come to praise it you can come to dislike it. Never apologize for things like this..
Is it possible that he bought a counterfeit tablet by mistake, that's why it seemed so bad?

Since that it's a demo unit, you might wanna try out the other unit because usually, demo unit lags due to EVERYBODY touching it and abusing it.
I'm waiting patiently here in Malaysia. Btw, how much is it in Thailand?
Oh ya, sawadiccup. Hopefully the pronunciation is correct.

Not disappointed at all, I was going from a Nexus 10 and was already expecting it to be a sidegrade but I do think that the Xperia Z is a better tablet than the N10 all round...
OP mentioned flex, but I don't notice this anymore than the N10 I had which seemed less well built than the Z. Speakers, could be better but I would still say they are better than most tablet speakers due to their placing. Though I do wish every mobile device came with speakers like the HTC ONE
The main reason I changed to the Z from the N10 was that although the N10's screen looked incredible due to the high resolution colours were not saturated enough and contrast was pretty bad, black level was pretty bad too. The Z has awesome colour and contrast for a tablet and whilst the resolution difference is noticiable it's not a big deal, it's still way better than the average 720p.
love the lighness too, battery life seems to be pretty comparable to the N10 as well...
btw about the launcher .. just download nova launcher...
I actually agree. The speakers are a bit to high pitched for my liking. I may have been spoilt by the greatness of the HTC One in order to come to this conclusion.
The stock launcher is definitely on the heavy side. It's not laggy per se but it does ever so briefly stutter every now and then. I am now using Nova Launcher which is soo much lighter that I have yet to feel any stuttering.
In ter,ms of battery life, I find it reasonable. I've had 4 hours and 40mins of screen time watching big bang theory on vlc player and some surfing and app downloading, and I was left with 25% battery life. Total time inc standy was about 12/13 hours.
The tablet isnt perfect, it does have some kinks that a software upgrade can deal with e.g. Stuttering, but not sure if anything can be done for the speakers.
I do the love the design and I wikk give this a chance and hopefully 4.2.2 comes out soon.

I hope sony comes with an update soon, for phones 4.2 isn't a big upgrade but multi-user support on a tablet is nice
The tablet Z is a step in the right direction, great design, thin, light, and great viewing angles from what I've read in reviews. But it comes with mediocre battery life apparently, older gen processor and one thing that I wanted a keyboard dock or cover of some sort. I've seen photos of one, possibly from the Japanese introduction but I don't recall this being an official accessory, perhaps it was not the tablet Z just older tab S. Perhaps Sony will release more accessories in the fall?
Anywho, I believe the next tablet from Sony will be the one to go for since it is supposed to be part of the "One Sony" ideology.
Well I read a review about battery where they looped the video and wifi on brightness high blah blah and got 7h and 20 min. Not the greatest but not the worst.
Regarding battery life I really don't notice much difference between this and the nexus 10. It really depends what you're doing.
All things considered this is one of the two best 10 inch Android tablets you can buy, the other being the nexus 10, nothing comes close to them IMO. I think I'll get to a comprehensive review at some point.
With an uptime of 1day 2hrs, and a screen on time of 7hrs 12minutes, my charge has run out.
This is on 1 charge with heavy web browsing, moderate YouTube and light gaming (I.e, Wired PS3 controller on GTA Vice City)
Thought that was pretty impressive given my Xperia Tablet S dies after 2hrs of web browsing.
