reboot loop help - Focus General

hello, my friends samsung focus it's stuck in a loop at the samsung screen when I try putting the phone in format data mode(DOWN+CAMARA+POWER) and does not work it keeps rebooting and I can put it in download mode, I tried flashing the phone with the wp7 usb downloader and it keeps rebooting, now I tried installing MAGLDR and still does not work. any help would be appreciated

sounds like you/they tried to flash a 1.3 rom to a 1.4 device or vice-versa. sadly i don't belive there is a fix for this. if you can i'd try to see if att/rogers will swap you a new one.

You should hold (DOWN + CAMARA) more tiem and wait, your phone is going to format/MAGLDR mode. Also, I have seen this happen several times.

bricked?!? -SOLVED-

I've tried the "brick fixes" on this forum, but without luck so far... I can get into download mode, and I've tried flashing with odin from this post which says "passed" to me. After this is reboots into a black screen after the "galaxy S" screen, and nothing can be done except making the capasitive buttons light up...
All help is appreciated!!
FYI I don't have a SD card installed during odin...
Solutions in #6 and #7...
Thanks a ton

Sounds like a boot loop, but I can't figure out why you would get one with the stock odin flash. Try doing a factory reset? it shouldn't be needed, but who knows?
how? tried the "hard reset" whitout luck

In recovery.. there should be a factory reset option. I thought odin did that though.
when it is resetting I can read "mbr checksum error" or similar in yellow text before it's wiping data etc...
Try this ...turn you phone off but keep it plugged into you cpu usb cord and open oidin, next put your phone in download mode and put the needed files in oden and click start I had a hard time getting odin to work right for some reason this may not help but it worked for me. Good luck I don't think you bricked I think you can come out of this.
I assume that you used the partition in ROM Manager? If so I had the same problem as you. The phone would boot up to a black screen with only the buttons working. What I did was flash Eugenes 2.2 Froyo Rom, I surprised that it booted up and worked. After that I flashed back to stock rom and it work as it did before!

I turned the phone off while the usb was connected when the phone if off open odin ounce its open boot up the phone and boot it into download mode from there odin will connect and you can put the files you need into it and click start. This worked well for me when I needed to revert back to factory vibrant after flashing the "Real lag FIX" kernel that made my ear piece not work and some of my buttons not work but boy was my phone snappy and my benchmarks were awesome but what good does that do when your girl calls you and you cant hear her and all she can hear is you saying hellllllllooooooo .
I"ve been trying to flash with odin now for about 2 hours. It gets stuck on DO NOT DISCONNECT. And never finishes.

You have managed to get into download mode right? My device is up and running stock now, but gonna try some other ROM now =)
Glad to hear your phone is back up and running .
i know this is an old thread, but i figure this can help someone later... brick is a common search term, and i figure this will come up in a search and this will save time for others...
here's what happened to me. i was flashing back to stock and was in download mode. the blue bar was moving etc and murphy and his dumb law decided to kill my my usb port... i thought the phone was DEAD! nothing i did woke the phone up. no battery indicator, buttons didn't do anything... it was all black. holding up/down and power didnt turn the phone on and into recovery or download mode... the phone was DEAD...
then after scouring the forum forever, i finally got the phone into download mode...
NOTE: i don't recall if the usb wire was plugged into the computer or not... i think it was though...
NOTE2: samsung drivers should have been installed already...
- remove the battery
- hold vol up and vol down buttons
- reinsert battery
i thought WOO HOO!! I GOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE!!!
the next issue i had was getting odin to recognize the phone... it didn't detect what com port i had. but after a lot of reading, i finally got it to work...
- open odin first
- then get into download mode using the steps above...
after odin recognized the port the phone was plugged into, i flashed back to stock rom using the instructions given on this site... and my dead phone works again...
i was able to fix a dead phone!! this phone could be un-brickable!!
i hope this helps...

I'm just guessing that you had a custom rom in, just before this happened?

Nope. I really don't know what rom it was running, because ordered this off Ebay.
After it arrived it's just been doing the same thing.

*Update* Now my PC is just not Detecting the phone at all.
I wonder if your USB port is bad and maybe it's rebooting due to low battery?

Nope. USB Port is not bad. And Battery is Fully Charged.
Did you tried the goldcard method,
here is a link for the best and easiest way to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597837
give it a try, I'm optimistic for possitive results
but don't forget to use samsung stuffs instead of htc
good luck
I have Samsung focus with a similar problem and have tried each and every thing to recover it but NO LUCK.

This is why I wondered about the USB port.
Same story, after many reboots i was able to boot into OS. Strangely, removing the battery and waiting for a couple of minnutes (maybe more) seems to do the trick. The phone boots up and you can really use it... until the next reset. Installing all the updates - to mango - was a pain in the posterior... and the phone works.. sort of.
I think that these phones are just faulty and if there is a way to return them - do it.

SM-G950F Ultimate Bricked - GOTO NAD TEST; CURRENT TEST = FACTORY NAD

Hi,
I have learned a lot from you guys and was able to successfully flash different firmwares on my G950F. Unfortunately, while using Odin my computer crashed and my phone is now stuck on this screen saying [SMD NAD] GOTO NAD TEST -- CURRENT TEST=FACTORY NAD (all in red). I can't change into download or recovery mode to reflash or reset it. In general none of the buttons and combinations seem to change anything.
Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.
------UPDATE
After a few hours the phone shut down and I was able to go into DL mode.
Let the phone die then charge it and try again

This happened when I flashed a Combination file in A720F; I just waited a minute, then the phone rebooted twice and then it started up.
I thought I was bricked the phone.

J5 not booting up

First it started right into Odin Mode. After holding Volume Down and Power to exit it, the screen went black (as expected). However, afterwards it won't boot up again. Tried normal boot, recovery and download. Removed the battery and put it again, didn't work. Also tried various cables and outlets. Tried the sequence for download mode (holding Power + Volume Down + Home, then pressing Volume Up - even if it didn't show anything on screen) and connected it to my PC. The computer played the sound as if a device was connected, then after some seconds Windows said that the USB device was not recognized. Odin did not recognize it either. Samsung 300K tool doesn't work as well. Do you have any suggestions, please? It's quite urgent.
Try installing official device drivers Inform us after that what's happening. Thank you

I can't. It's not booting at all. Never rooted it or changed its ROM.
You mean it doesn't even show download mood or recovery mood?

Yes, not even the charging battery logo when it is powered on. Tried using an USB Jig, fails as well.

I'm sorry to say that.. It's a hardware related issue... U need to take it to service center to repair Thank you
I've flashed marshmallow stock on stock lollipop via Odin but after completion J500H boots and immediately resets or off after first boot screen appears. so please help that why this problem is here???
Also please tell that custom ROM can be installed on the J500H or not ( bootloops and restart issue immediately)
Is it possible to flash again? If yes...
Then first wipe delvik cache then flash again, before flashing make sure to untick auto reboot on odin's log option... After flashing done don't reboot immediately first wipe delvik cache then restart...
If it doesn't allow you to flash then u need to take it to service center...
Yes it's possible to install custom rom using Odin but sometimes it fails if usb debugging is not enabled! You can search on Google for that or any thread here.
