Got 4.5.81, want to update it but can't? - Atrix 4G General

A buddy gave me a phone he's had laying around -- don't know where he got it, but it's got 4.5.81. No, I didn't mis-type. Since I don't think it was ever released (trial image or something?), it won't pull an OTA update.
I'd like to keep it as a stock test phone, and leave my own Atrix running CM9. How do I go about updating the .81 phone to, say .83 (or newer) so that it will pull down the latest OTA updates. I'd like to not have to unlock the phone if possible-- want this one to be "stock".
Any ideas??

Cannot update firmware on stock Sprint Hero

Please help out my coworker has a stock Hero on sprint and we are unable to update the firmware. I was able to update mine, our demo and one other co-worker's phone but on hers, every time I actually go into the firmware update it states no updates available. Sadly we work for a sprint store and hers is the only one giving us an error. I've already gone to the point of wiping the device to restore to factory but with no avail. Aside from having her swap out the phone at our repair center, I wanted to see if anyone has had the same problem and was able to get passed it. I saw a couple of posts stating to use the RUU utility, but on a stock rom that we already "RTN'd" I don't know how that would help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've seen something similar. A coworker of mine just got a hero last week (after the MR release) and her phone shows the older software version but it will not recognize a firmware update is needed. I checked the phone's awake time and it was low, indicating the messaging app was not keeping the phone awake or draining the battery so I assumed it must not need the MR update even though it shows the old software version.
A couple others have metioned this... For some reason, some phones shipped with older firmware, version 1.22.651.1 instead of 1.29.651.1. Doing a hard reset on the 1.22 version wouldn't help, but updating the firmware to the 1.29 should. After that, check for the official MR.
You can find the file over here:

the guy at the sprint store (3rd party store) where i got mine from , his hero will not update or even flash back to the stock sprint ruu everytime it downloads the update and goes to apply it it shuts the phone down and thats it no reboot have to pull the batt to get it to power back on again
I had the same problem. I got my Hero on the first day it came out. Every time I tried to download the firmware update it would say no update available. Took it to the Sprint store and no luck either. They finally swapped out my original Hero for a new one and I was past my 30 days.

2.1-update1

Does "2.1-update1" mean I have the recent OTA update?
ECLAIR.UVJI6 under "Build Number" means you have the latest version.
Vibrant came stock with 2.1-update1 and the latest update doesn't change that. Your build and baseband will both end in JI6
Hm, I had a firmware update available last night and I ran it but it "bricked" my phone. I spent all day learning how to get back to stock. I finally fixed my phone, but when I went back to run the update again I get "No firmware."
The same way you got back to stock can get you to the latest update. It's really easy, just make sure you are using Odin 1.3
Are you rooted right now?
No, since I got back to stock I haven't done anything besides redoing some of the old settings I had. Last time I rooted I used RyanZAs OCLF, but I had kind of decided being rooted (or something) was the reason the update broke my phone.
Just odin from my thread. Its the same as the OTA. Undo all your lagfixes and all BS. before trying to do it.
its all explained. Dont see a need for 30 threads on the same thing.

[Q] OTA Download Limit?

Is there a limit to the number of times Sprint will push an OTA update to a specific phone?
I'm not receiving the MDL update anymore, and manually checking says I'm up-to-date, but I'm not being at MDC. I received it the first time and installed it, but as we all know, it broke root access and closed the motochopper exploit. So I reflashed the stock ROM and wiped everything, got the update again but ignored it. Well, I reset my phone again, and now that I actually want to install the update, Sprint doesn't seem to want to push it to my phone anymore.
Edit #1: Saw this thread: New Update is here! Here is how to force pull an OTA update. But I am still curious why Sprint isn't sending it to me automatically if anyone knows.
Edit #2: Woke up this morning and the update had been downloaded. *shrug*

H91010m forced update, now unrootable?

Just bought the V20 because it was the only att phone with possibility of root. Had it 3days and it kept telling me to install update (had auto update turned off). Wanted to read into the posts about how to root. Overnight it installed on its own. Now I'm assuming I'm stuck. I still have a week (this week) left to return it. I'm thinking maybe return under the guise of wanting a different color one just to get one still running the December security patch. Any ideas?
Deserteagleslm, I don't know the answer to your question, but is it possible for you to try and find the actual OTA file(s) on your phone and send them to me? I tried the OTA on my H910 and now it's stuck in a bootloop. If I had the 174mb OTA file at i'm thinking I can use LGUP to do the FOTA option and recover my phone during the upgrade.
thanks
Any idea what folder it would be in or where? If so ill upload to my mega cloud
Look, all I know is for $829 I'm taking this v20 back to att and switching for a new one, within 2 wee return period, and getting another one, turning off updates thru development options so I can root the damn thing. I had a Galaxy S4 that I rooted 2 days after getting it few yrs back and never "upgraded" due to newer phones not having root possibilities. I'm not pissing away that $$$$ on this damn v20..... Yes I'm drunk and mad right now.

Downgrade question - possible upgrade upon restart?

Hey all,
I am very much willing to wipe my phone to do a downgrade.
I have the OP8 Pro, unrooted (never rooted/never unlocked bootloader).
The scenario I see is - I downgrade my phone to 10.15.13 (I have the INAA modell). I'm sure at some point the phone will check for an OTA.
My question - Is it all possible for the phone to upgrade itself if it restarts?
Meaning, is there a time limit that the update is sitting in the queue waiting for the user to press reboot to install? Or can I just somehow figure out a way to silence the system notification of an update pending?
Not sure if that makes sense but my hope is to just go back to 10 and enjoy certain things that just worked out better for me unrooted vs 11 unrooted until some things are ironed out.
Thanks for your time.
No you would need to initialise the upgrade, unless you have automatic updates on.
You would have seen the initial installation begin.
Least that's my experience of it. The update is stored on the phone so you may also be able to delete it.
Turn off automatically download updates.
I downgraded using the special firmware I found (couldn't find official to do it ) and then installed the official EU/UK firmware straight after with no problem

Nice - noted. I think I can start my search as well. Looking to do this tonight.
