Well I finally got my KF rooted and loaded up Barebones. I am enjoying it so far. I watch Netflix and saw in the development thread where there is an audio video sync delay because of the build.prop
I looked in the prop and found this information.
ro.product.model=GTI9000
ro.product.manufacturer=TI or T1
what do I need to change the model and manufacturer to to get netflix to sync correctly without the possibility of bricking my fire?

I have a new NC with v 1.2 installed. I have rooted using Manual Nooter and overclocked to 1.2. I really like the ability to access the android market while keeping the original NC UI for reading etc. I am wondering about accessing in-store features, specifically free reading while in the store. I kept receiving errors when trying to browse books while in the store. I could access the network and the NC knew I was in the store. I searched the forums but I could not find anything related to v1.2. The only other change that I made was to alter build.prop for Netflix. Anyone else having any problems in store? Is there already a thread started? If so, where is it? Thanks for all the great work.
I've got 2 nooks rooted the same way (using the latest manual nooter, 6-16) and overclocked and had no problems with either using in-store features, but I also never messed with the build.prop.
Interesting. Do you use Netflix? I thought that I saw that Netflix was no longer checking for Device. I am wondering if I can change my build.prop back to the default and see if that fixes in store problems and still use Netflix.
Hey everyone! I am not new to Android, but I have only had the Kindle Fire for a few days now. I am having a blast with it! I knew that XDA would be the place to come for all my KF hacking needs and you didn't disappoint. Within hours of my KF being handed over by MR. UPS, I was rooted and customizing.
You even saved me from having to go through it all over again because I was informed of the 6.2.2 update before it even hit and was able to prevent it from coming OTA. I manually updated the following day with the file provided here.
So I just wanted to stop in and say Hello, and thanks for all the great information and help! I can't wait until the ICS ROM is running with video and sound so I can load it, too. Sadly, those are two key functions in my desire for the KF so I have to wait for my ICS love.
Hello and welcome.
ICS is actually possibly farther along than you think. Sound appears to be solved.
Video works sometimes. My biggest issue at the moment is the CPU seems to be pegged, so you can just see the power dropping off.
But all in all, ICS is such an improvement that I'm going to try to run it as my daily.
Does the ICS rom still allow access to the Amazon features, or only via apps like Amazon MP3, Kindle, etc?
HI, yes the KF is turning into quite a nice little device.
Kindle app works well on ICS, I love the interface with ICS. No more tiny fonts like with CM7.
The Amazon Prime Videos will not work with ICS, however I could get Prime videos running under DolphinHD when i set user agent to desktop on CM7. Web Videos are currently hit and miss on ICS but I am sure once that JackpotClavin (You rock sir) has done his magic we can access Prime Videos again via the web browser.
Have not tested MP3 from Amazon, but Google Music does work.
I am so stoked with the current state of CM9 ICS with the exception that I can no longer stream video from my DLNA/UPnP server. The problem is that I end up in a never ending search for servers. I have tried re-booting, toggling wifi, re-installing and while it works with CM7, I can't get it to work in CM.
I have searched high and low on xda and Google and found one fantastic user (jdommer) who seems to have solved the issue on the Kindle Fire. Any chance of bringing this fix to the Nook Color builds?

What app are you using? Or are you just doing the file manager/open with routine? View your files with a file manager and click a file to open with a media player?
Would you consider dual booting? I do and it's easy as pie.
Thanks for the reply. I have considered dual-booting but prefer CM9 for everything except this one failing.
With CM7 I used (and have attempted to use in CM9) BubbleUPnP or MediaHouse to brows networked media servers and initiate a stream which is opened in MoboPlayer or the like. The issue is that when opening one of the aforementioned UPnP network browsers, no servers are found and scanning takes an extraordinarily long time to complete.
As I said in my first post, this issue has been solved for the Kindle Fire so I'm hoping the fix could be incorporated into the nightly CM9 builds going forth.
So are we thinking this is essentially an issue with multicast not working properly, or... ?
I've been having problems, too... aVia, MediaHouse UPnP / DLNA Browser, neither one sees my Gentoo/MiniDLNA server. Logitech revue sees it fine, as does aVia on the TBolt. When I install any of those apps on the Nook, it causes some serious issues with network access. Maybe I'm just not being patient and giving it enough time to discover the server, but with both the Bolt and the Revue it was instantaneous.
I'm not allowed to post in the developer thread, so I hope a developer in reading this. The issue still persists in nightly 9/4/2012.

So just got my hands on one of these. One thing I noticed/realized that would be a big deal for my intended usage is being able to enable multi-user functionality so each person that uses it can log in to their own profile.
So far on researching I have seen very little discussion on this matter. At best I see no option in the stock rom and no mentions in third party roms. If this is indeed available in third party roms I would not be averse to giving them a shot. I have also seen build.prop edits to enable that and they seem to be the same edit across devices so I'm assuming it is a standard android thing. I haven't had a chance yet to root my Player but is there a chance adding these build.prop options could also work on the stock rom?
Thoughts? Btw, I have already updated to Marshmallow however I did find a post around here that seems to indicate it is still relatively easy to root so once I get time today I am going to go down that route regardless.
I've seen a workaround that has you side-load gmail apk onto the nexus player, which in turn lets you add an account. Then, there are some apps that check for multiple accounts. Haven't tried yet, I think it might no longer work with YouTube like it used to.
Let's get this escalated to google - star this issue to get it some attention.

I would really like some info on this! cr08 if you are going to mention builprop edits please at least consider linking the info you refer to haha thanks!
I am wondering if anyone has found a working Netflix apk that doesn't have the auto-loading previews, but also works on the Fire Stick (this version).
The newest Netflix version available from Amazon is SUPER annoying, and I have tried about 30 different versions of older apks, but none of them work well enough to use.
The issue is either they don't load at all, or if they do, you are unable to pick specific episodes to watch since you cannot 'move the cursor' over to the individual episodes.
This is an unrooted Fire Stick with sideloading turned on. If anyone has had success with a specific Netflix apk, as described above, please let me know which version it is and/or where you found it. Thank you.
