Qualcomm release Adreno 2xx GPU drivers for ICS - G2 and Desire Z General

Amazing development from Qualcomm !
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/qualcomm-releases-adreno-2xx-gpu-binaries-for-ics/
In order to provide enthusiasts with recent improvements made to Snapdragon’s Adreno graphics drivers, Qualcommhasmade the updated Adreno 2xx graphics driver binaries available here.Note that you will most likely need to be a developer to take advantage of these new drivers since they’ll require integration with the CAF release of ICS, but Qualcomm is providing these driver binaries“as is” to those of you who have requested them.
Official release information:
This release contains the user-mode driver binariesfor Qualcomm’s Adreno 2xx GPUon Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It has been tested with the CAF release M8960AAAAANLYA1030. Supports any Adreno 2xx GPU on Android ICS.

I would hope that these drivers would help more in terms of GUI smoothness than overall benchmark results.

I don't think it will help directly, as the Adreno drivers are for graphics and only provide hardware acceleration. (At least, that's my understanding. I'm not a ROM developer.) However, it could mean that Qualcomm is willing to release drivers if enough people request them, so in the long run it might help.

Yeah this doesn't directly help the camera, because that needs its own drivers. But it shows Qualcomm are willing to get involved with the dev community, so *maybe* they will consider releasing ICS camera drivers too ?

Ok i found the problem, i made the script to just copy over the files but have now edited it to delete the old app and lib first.
I have tested 4 times and all working aok..
You may need to install the original GB Music.apkV2.zip first as this deletes the associated lib then reboot, then install the new music.apk from honeycomb.
Everyone else should not have a problem.. This directly relates to Michelle..
Enjoy! And hit that thanks button!! lol.

That leaks been out for months. The video is new.
two things that make me wonder if this might be faked.. the baseband is the same as android 2.3.6 baseband/radio(see screenshot from my own phone), and the android version says IceCreamSandwich instead of an android buils number. the launcher and the rest of the build.prop can easily be faked.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel
Version 3.0 was released 22 Jul 2011. Torvalds announced that the big change was, "NOTHING. Absolutely nothing."[70] 30 May 2011 saw Torvalds announce, "...let's make sure we really make the next release not just an all new shiny number, but a good kernel too." After the expected 6-7 week development process, it would be released near the 20th anniversary of Linux.

Lol to your credit it's not actually in any distribution yet that I know of. I don't even know if it's been promoted to suitable yet.
And agree, you can easily change the kernel version when you make the build. Just because it says 3.x doesn't mean much

[Q] CM9

Is there developer thinking about porting CM9 to our device? It would be great if they did.
I know we already have ICS on our little device thanks to dzo, but I was just wondering.
One last thing, is there any chance of our device get a official CM9 ROM?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

hey, cm9 it's just a baby for now. let blefish deal with crucial problems like wifi, ril, camera and some others that eventually come with development progress. Once get stable and functional, blefish can improve what's working, making it better.
