Hi guys,
Do you have to re-enter the activation code once you update WP7? Or it's a one time thing.

If your live services are working properly then you don't have to re-enter the activation code.If not then you have to re-enter it; yes.
Yes, you can.
I hard resetted mine two times. And the code still worked.
The activation code is connected to your live account. So you can use it unlimited times but only on the same account you've used it first time. It works unlimited times, but you can't use it on another account.

So, I've been using WP7 on my HD2 for a couple of weeks now and it's been activated for live services by the registery edit/unlocking/call Microsoft method.
Today it says that my account is blocked for some reason, tried to reset the password but it's still blocked so it seems that Microsoft are taking some kind of stand here. Or it could just be something else.. but considering that I only made that live-account for this purpose I would suppose it has something to do with the cheating on the account and activation. Live services aren't even available in my country
This is the message I get when I'm trying to log into my account:
Sign-in is blocked
Sign-in with (accountname) is blocked for one of these reasons:
Someone entered the wrong password too many times.
If you signed up for this ID through an organization, you might not be able to use the account yet.
Can anyone who has experienced the same issue reply to this thread and tell us about it?
your live mail account is registered to which specific country?
It's registered to the US to get marketplace working, do you think that's why they blocked it?

I'm fairly certain this is the reason unfortunately.

create a new live id at home and try again. make sure you put a very simple password and in your phone sign in to your new live id without a password error.
i'm guessing someone try to get your live id? lol

I think resetting the password would solve that problem

If that's the problem I wouldn't care to try that, because then I'm stuck without marketplace anyways!
Someone might have attempted to access your account. Try to reset your password!
hey guys i have a problem i first had wp7 with an activated live account and then i went to android deleting and formating my sd card now i have installed wp7 again but i cant seem to log on to my live account it asks me for the activation code i still have my old activation code but when i type it in it rejects it it says it is invalid is there a way i can get my old live account running again because when i go to my hotmail i can still see my under the catagory devices my phone
what should i do should i call them again and get a new code could it be that my activation code just got banned or something
ok, so i got an activation code for my HD2 (er, i mean, HD7...) via chat no problem.
but, it says i am in China, which i am not (although i do go there sometimes, my wife is chinese)
i think i should have used my vpn to put me in the UK.
so, how can i remove the activation code and enter a new one?
(i was hoping not to have to reset)
Did you try and remove your E-Mail? Try and delete Windows Live Account on your device and load it again with new Code. But be aware that you'll have to sync everything again =P
first of all, your activation code has nothing to do with the country setting. you choose that during set up. 2nd, you cannot remove the activation code by removing your live acct. 3rd, you cannot remove your live acct associated with your phone/activation code.
you have hard reset to re-enter code.

i didnt think i could change the country code when i was setting up. it can only be linked to my ip.
are you saying if i reuse the activation code on a clean install i can change the country?
anyway, i used Market Select to sort-of change the location and i have sideloaded the apps i wanted anyway.
hard reset, huh? WP7 and M$ sucks big time
So the last time I tried selling my phone, took the cash from the guy and he left, he didn't have time to test the device at my place that it's working and he didn't bother since it's in brand new condition.
Next day while I'm at the movies, he calls me and tells me that the phone is asking him to sign in with the account that was previously synced to this device so he asked me for my email and password. My mistake was, I changed the password to something easy then gave it to him. He then tried to login but it would tell him to sign in with the account that was previously synced but this IS the account. That's when I learned that I shouldn't have changed my password as it would lock the device for 72 hous.
Now that the 72 hours have lapsed, I was able to login to the phone using my email and new password. But how do I sell it? how do I remove all this protection BS and make it in such a way that after a factory reset, the new owner can login with his account?

I am not sure if this is correct but I think you need to enable OEM UNLOCK.
This is accessed in developer options. You can enable developer options in settings. About device. Software info. Then tap on build 5 times to enable go back to settings and you should see developer options. Inside you will find OEM unlock. Let me know if it helps

thanks, I did that, just making sure there isn't anything else I needed to do
I think you have to remove FRP if you set it up in the first place. If you can remove that, everything should be fine after a factory reset.

Yes. Get the old gmail and password from your "other family member" and then factory reset the phone after that.
Boom, all yours.
