I have just heard from a reliable source that there might be a thinner Note released/announced within the next 10 days. This rumour was directly from HQ in Korea. We will have to wait and see. That's the only change that I know about "thinner"......

Seriously? The only reason I can see for making a thinner phone is to fold it, or maybe jimmy open doors?
Quite possibly the reference is to a Galaxy Note 10.1?.. an upgraded tab with the S pen...and its thinner than its predecessor..

asus also announced an "open sourced" tablet with nvidia tegra platform. id say 80% chance its android. i dont see any other linux build stable enough on arm and still pack the support for multitouch.
What does everyone think about the US packaging? I personally want the bamboo packaging like the UK customers!
I think this clear box approach is a bit odd considering most will be sold online.

They seem to be going all out for the US launch, doesn't have the earth friendly of the Europe packaging but it sure grabs your attention now. I like, now Ill have a museum case for when I retire my Streak in a couple of years.

I have the USA release in the Museum display .. It is nice. But I would have been just as happy to have it in a small box like the iphone came in. Easier to ship if I one day sell it. I do NOT see that day coming any time soon. BUT THEN, have had it only 24 hours, still playing with settings and swype .. BTW, I LOVE SWYPE ..
I prefer the bamboo package,

I know this is totally tacky on such a beautiful phone...
I have a note 1 and 3 extra Batteries... Now with my Note 2 I am only running with the single battery. I am leaving for Paris in a week and I wanted to take advantage of having a couple back ups, but don't have time to get them in from Hong Kong. So I decide to see if it was hard to custom fit the Note 1. Turned out pretty simple... Just took some rolled note paper to fill the gap and a tad bit of tape to secure the roll (no tape on the phone). Works perfect as a backup!

OMGGG !! Nice idea !!
I added tape around the 3 non-contact sides. This makes it a breeze to get in and out.
The battery is 75% smaller, so I figure if I get 50-75% of the main battery life as a "back up" then I am golden for now Extra battery fits fine in my Wallet.

I just got my Galaxy Note 10.1 yesterday, yes I know I am a little late to the game, but can you blame me...wow does this thing cost alot. Well I actually work in the wireless industry as an Analysis and also do alot of design/illustrations on the side. I have been rooting phones on the Android side since the G2/HD2 days, before then was sad to say it.....an Apple Fan boy. Thankfully the G2 saved my life :angel:
Anyways, if you devs out there ever need any banners or other graphic design/art let me know, always glad to help out with the talents that I have.
As far as the GNote goes, I bought it mainly to be a On the Go Drawing device with AutoDesk Sketchbook Pro which so far it meets my standards and i'm just loving it. Surprised with all the bad reviews out in the web with this device, honestly its most likely TouchWiz thats the sole fault on those.

Had a back and forth this morning with the Sharp reps, they indeed said "Currently Sharp has no plans of upgrading OS on unit" but when I asked them about the kernel source and GPL compliance I got this response!
Hope these come soon, super excited.
Well, that seems encouraging...maybe this phone WON'T wind up a doorstop...
so it means once they upload the Source code the Dev's can root the device then. it seems to be a good news.
THIS thread needs to be on top. I wonder if Sharp is watching these forums. There's enough fanfare around that the source code should come around. Maybe a Christmas present? The excitement, then. Once we see GSM variants or unlocks, it'll be incredible.
They better hurry. I was way way happier with my gs3. So tired of this thing completely freezing up every other day. Not too mention the external speaker sucks balls and can't hardly hear anybody in calls. Also booting me from a call because my ear touched something no matter how many times I lock the screen. For $140 brand new I guess you get what you pay for. If sharp doesn't pull there heads out of their arses and release the source code like they are legally obliged to then I'm swappin back to the GS3.
