Pls Help!Contacts synchronization with Facebook - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I have my Note from a week now and I love it,but my last phone was HTC Desire HD,and dare I say that HTC have better personalized their phones. For instance when you add a new contact it automatically suggests a fb contact to merge. This does not happen with the Note, when I deleted a contact and entered again I couldn't manage to merge them again and to put that person fb picture on his contact.
I know that there must be a way,and I am a person that has changed many phones but this is the first time that I thing that Samsung does not have very user friendly system compared to HTC.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Wrong Facebook times

Heya, for some reason my galaxy adds 2 hours to the events from Facebook. Is this something I can fix on my own, or report to Facebook or Samsung?

Hi all,
I also faced the same issues but no problem when reached the normal web site. I don't know what its belongs to, i just send a bug report to fb dev team and hope they can have a look. Is someone here not using SGS but Froyo installed device and have a try?

For facebook profiles you have to use Facebook application first, it'll ask you whether to sync with you're current contacts or not

go to contacts... Then choose the contact you want and edit it. On the edit screen press the option button, the one next to Home button, and an option will come up "join" click on it and choose other contacts you want to connect it to

Calendar and Birthdays Issue

I notice when I save peoples birthdays under their contact, their birthday appears on the calendar, which is good. The issue is though, this same thing does not apply for birthdays that I saved last year or prior. The calendar only reflects newly saved birthdays but does not reflect the old saved ones. Is there a way to fix this?

Its listed as birthday. It should be a repeat I would assume.

All of my birthdays showup but I got most of mine from fb so. But that's strange. You might just have to reenter the birthdays. Did you do any flashing latly.

My fb birthday all show with no issues. It's only birthdays actually saved to my phone. I've resaved a few birthdays in my phone and then they show, but that's what I'm trying to avoid...going in a resaving everything I've already saved.

My problem is I get repeat birthdays in calendar if I have their birthday saved in my gmail contact and they also put their birthday in their facebook profile. You think this smartphone would be smart enough to only display the birthday once, especially when the FB and phone/gmail contact is linked.

[Q] Weird Contact Image Appearing in Messaging App

Hello all,
In my stock messaging app, many of my contact pictures show a weird image next to the contact name.
Image: http://i.imgur.com/rSSuq.png
Can anyone explain why that contact picture appears?
Thank you.
The phone or the silhouette?

It means you haven't assigned those contacts a photo

I am talking about the images of the phone with "SMS" on them, not the silhouette of the face.
Why does this occur for some but not others?

Have you ever had the SIM card in a Windows phone?
I had a windows mobile phone 3 years ago. But I have changed sim cards since then. I just got a new micro sim for my nexus 4. The issue started a couple months ago on my Samsung captivate. Now it has carried over to this device.
Any ideas?

Do you use GroupMe? Pretty sure this is the cause of the issue. I think GroupMe assigns people with dumphones that icon in conversations. If you choose to sync GroupMe contacts with your phone contacts, I think your phone will display that icon for them.

This was the issue. I simply disabled the sync of group and contacts, then reset the app.
Thank you so much for your help.

Contact photos

So this is my return to android after some time and I'm trying to get my device all setup. One of my biggest pet peeves about Android was the terrible resolution of the contract photos.
I have Facebook and installed the app. I went through the sync procedures to get the contacts matched up and noticed that the photos look terrible. But, I have one contact that had a gorgeous hd pic. I don't understand what is different about his contact info but why can I do to fix the test of them?

Suggest you turn off the contact sync in the FB app and install Haxsync.
I second the poster above. Download Haxsync and make sure to check the 'use high resolution photos' option.
