Arc s- How to get back to completely stock? - Xperia Arc General

Anyone know? I'm running a rom right now but I want to get back to completely stock like it was brand new.

1. download original firmware.
2. flash it via flashtool.
3. flash relock bootloader via flashtool.
You are ready to sell your phone

Or use wotanclient
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk

Hi. Are you sure you will get back to completely stock like it was brand new ?
I' know when you unlock the bootloader you can't restore DRM rights via flashtool or wotanclient. To check it after flash try TrackID app. If it will not work you will not have DRM rights so your ARC S will not be completely stock...

The phone will remain rooted, no matter use of Flashtool, Update Service, neither PCCompanion. Superuser will be there, so it'll show the rooting to Customer Care

That is so NOT true.
By reflashing firmware, any system modifications (including root elements) are wiped.

I don't know how to use flashtool. I'm only used to flashing roms via fastboot and cwm.
Can anyone explain further? Thanks.

I still don't get it. I understand the relock process, but how do I get the stock rom on there first

now that you have relock you can now flash the stock rom in FTF format file to flash with flashtool then youlll be back in stock rom with bootloader locked....

my question is what root will i use?

You will have to flash back to 2.3.2 then root with gingerbreak...
But here is a whole thread on how to unlock bootloader/root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043630
Here is how you unlock your boot loader - http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions

An unlocked bootloader allows you to issue fastboot commands to your device. It has nothing to do with root. Although it can be used to attain root easer

Right download the .184 firmware here:
http://www.multiupload.com/MDS10FFGTT
And download Flashtool from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/7H4JT35B6G
Unpack the .tft file and place it in the firmware folder of the extracted flashtool application.
Install the gordons gate flash drivers that come with flashtool.
run flashtool, click on flash, choose the .184 .tft file. And follow the onscreen instructions.

Since you are rooted. Get Adfree from the market. It will block adverts on free games, browsing the web etc. Very useful app to have.
If you uninstall apps you cannot use ota again to upgrade to 2.3.4 when its out and still keep root (since all the bloatware needs to be still on the phone for an ota update to work)
I personally freeze the apps i dont want. It stops them from running and frees up ram (making the phone bootup faster, better battery life, all the perks that uninstalling them would give you) but it will not free up internal memory since you are not unistalling the app its still on your phone it just will not run while it is frozen. You would then just unfreeze them to use ota.
If you uninstall them you will either have to reflash again (to get back what you uninstalled, it will also wipe your phone clean again) then root again to use ota and keep root.
Anyways i use Bloat Freezer (which you have to pay for only £0.60 tho) or if you just want to uninstall apps the best to use would be Titanium Backup the free version allows you to uninstall apps. You can also use Titanium Backup to freeze apps but thats only in the paid version.
See here for the thread on what is safe to uninstall or freeze.
i flashed R800i 4.0.A.2.368 UK (newest firmware with xLoud etc) using flashtool and simply used flashtool to root it aswell, worked a treat

Simply flash this .Zip package, the supersu update one, and Make sure you are on advanced stock kernel by @DooMLoRD, reboot the phine twice or something **** that, and voila!
Root acces granted.

I'm sorry, but this isn't news and doesn't require a new thread.
DooMLoRD provided his advanced stock kernel in the 3rd post of Androxyde's thread for the 4.3 FTF.
Obviously, if you have an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery, you can flash one of the many superuser zips that are around, including the more current version of SuperSu provided by Chainfire himself - http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
Common sense, no?

Due to the amount of people that are flashing the leaked update, without the proper knowledge on what they are about to commit and they claim that their apps stop working, all the threads are useful, in my personal opinion.
Sorry if i disturb you, that was not my intention, just made it to help, nothing more.
BTW: I am on unlocked bootloader with DoomLord's advanced kernel, and it didn't gave me proper root access, so i had to improvise
You didn't have to improvise.
The advanced stock kernel has never provided root access automatically, only the means to gain it by flashing a zip containing the su binary, apk and sometimes busybox.

i have a succesfull root on xperia z c6606 (c6603 569)
I started by flashing old 67 firmware. then got root and dual recovery.
then i flashed 569 with superfix and flashed the stripped down 569
then i flashed existenz's latest rom, v5.
after all that, I ended up with Android 4.3 (569) for C6603 on my C6606 without root access. I still had the recovery, but SuperSu was now missing.
So after 5 minutes of messing around, I found this file, UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip, so i put in root of sdcard, and flashed with cwm or twrp (idek anymore) and now I have root access and xposed framework from existenz is working
here is the supersu fix i used
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
the website that actually hosts the file is download.chainfire.eu, but i am unable to post links to outside files.
edit
this information is really only for Xperia Z users whose Bootloader is Locked. This is an alternative method to Doomlords root, which requires flashing custom kernel, which is not possible with a locked bootloader.
Does anyone know how NUT rooted the ftf? I mean if he did that with a prerooted custom kernel, we(locked Bootloader guys) would not be able to flash that. But everyone say there i no way to root the FW with LB. I am really confused.
Does anyone can explain this to me?

This is a flashable zip that can be flashed in cwm or twrp unlike ftf which can't be changed or modified and must be flashed in flashtool
In other word Nut extracted the ftf converted it to zip added the root and recovery so it can be installed on the air without modifying the system files.a

He hasn't rooted the ftf.
He has extracted the contents and made a flashable zip of them that is rooted. Basically a custom rom.
The ftf that is in his topic is stripped and probably only contains the baseband and stock Sony kernel and needs to be flashed in addition to the prerooted zip he provides.

root latest 4.3 xperia sp

1. dont flash the latest 4.3 yet
2. downgrade to 4.2 and root using doomlord method or root by bin4ry method
3. once rooted, backup TA partition
4. flash latest 4.3 via sus, pcc, or ftf
5. unlock bootloader
6. flash custom kernel with recovery
7. boot to recovery, flash supersu update zip
8. reflash original 4.3 kernel
9. restore backup TA
10. enjoy 4.3, root, locked bootloader with intact drm keys!

It would be the same...
However you can also flash Doomlord's 4.3 kernel, then boot to recovery and flash the super su zip for root. The kernel from the leaked 4.3 rom seems to be the same as the kernel from the latest update.
Recovery is lost after going back to stock kernel. Root works.
The root works but Mobile Bravia Engine 2 still lost.

Impossible dude.. Don't ever think about it even in ur dreams..
Every sony models have different firmwares.. We can't use them..
Just wait for some more times until some one will find a root kit for locked bootloaders...
Different hardware -> different drivers -> different kernel.
if you try it... its possible that you get a hardbrick...
twrp 3.0
TWRP 3.0 is out.
https://twrp.me/
TWRP 3.0 is out alright but the Z5 isn't on the list of supported devices? I've seen screenshots on here of v2.8.7.0 and v3.0.0.0 - how does that work?!
https://twrp.me/Devices/
Z3 firmware can be installed on z5.
But your phone boot and cant enter to home.
Randomly reboot.
If anyone can install rooted z3 firmware for unlocked bootloader, please try.
Not any root program can detect phone .
Why not other approach? Find which part is the app with vulnerable exploit and create a Z5 rom including it to root it?

My locked bootloader Z1 was plenty happy to boot a stock kernel with a pre-rooted ROM. But, as @Rajeev said, you need a custom recovery to flash pre-rooted zips. Since we have no LB root exploit for the Z5 yet, pre-root still isn't an option.
How about flashing a Z3+/Z4 ROM/Kernel on a locked bootloader. It's the same CPU (810) so you might be something. If you can at least get ADB going, you might be able to exploit it and dump the TA partition.

I'm pretty sure you can as long as they're Sony signed binaries. I'm not sure if the signatures would be compatible though.

So u want to root ur MM right?
Well u can simply downgrade and root it along with recovery. Then backup ur drm key using TA Backup tool from xda. After that u can flash a pre rooted MM rom
