How do I SBF Droid X to factory? Can not find RSD Lite download anywhere.
Also do i want to unroot before i SBF?
Here is what happened. I rooted. Uninstalled apps with titanium after backing them up and now i can not reinstall them. I want to get the phone back to out of the box to be able to get a replacement from Verizon.
Please and Thank you!
Google "1kds". It should lead you to all the resources you need.
You do not need to unroot to SBF.
Before you SBF through Windows, I recommend trying the 1Kds Linux live CD method. It's very easy to use and works much better than SBFing with RSD Lite
Note: be sure not to take any OTA updates.

I rooted using Z4. Downloaded 2.3.3 flashed, all works. Had to download bootstrap for DROID 2 ( forum post said DROID x would not work with 2.3.3). Anyway, before flashing 2.3.3 I made a back-up of stock. Recovery will "restore" but bootloader is the "red" moto splash screen and stays there.
Also, tried accessing the back-up via RM, but that method show "red"moto splash then black screen.
So, anyone have an idea how to flash my stock 2.2 back-up?

Instructions stickied at the top of this forum to use Linux to SBF back to stock, then your restore should work after you root it and install Clockwork Mod/Bootstrapper. The driver used for RSD Lite to SBF back via Windows isn't very good, and can be problematic; even if you're not familiar with Linux, I'd recommend doing it as laid out in the Ubuntu Linux SBF thread.

Thank you, came from DROID incredible. Never needed linux. Not sure how/where to find the procedure for windows. Will continue looking and should have mentioned that in op. Either that or just stay on 2.3.3

Posting for my friend...it's his X not mine.
He was rooted with z4 on froyo, then unrooted and did OTA to Gingerbread...but now he realizes theres no root for Gingerbread so he wants to go back to Froyo. How can he do this?
Thanks!

sorry but what is "prerooted gingerbread"???
Getting back to froyo and installing pre-rooted GB
Pre-Rooted Gingerbread - Means that it's already rooted when you install it. It's like having Z4root already installed when you get your phone from verizon.
Check out these links.
Link 1 makes a linux CD that you can use to SBF back to Froyo in about 10 minutes. This is a very easy method to get back to froyo. If you can burn an iso file to a CD then you can do this method.
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html
Then you can use z4root and install pre-rooted GB using the 2 flash method at link 2. Make sure that you use Droid 2 bootstrapper and not Droid X bootstrapper to install the rooted GB.
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/28/download-official-droidx-gingerbread-4-5-596-for-rooted-users/
Follow the instructions closely for ensured success.
This can all be done in about 30 to 45 minutes depending on your computer skills.
Nice post.
Just curious. Once the SBF is done, activation finished and Backup Assistant restores phone book from online....one can leave Froyo after z4root and call it done? (rooted Froyo)

Thank you, option 1 looks pretty easy with Linux...but how do I use the Droid bootstrapper instead of the X bootstrapper?

Once you get back to froyo, you can download the droid 2 bootstrapper from the market. It will cost you another couple bucks but there are known issues with droid x bootstrapper and GB.

Yes you can but verizon will try to update it for you at least once, but from what I hear that will fail because of root and it won't try again.

Kov compiled that form the Droid 2 bootstrap so you don't have to pay for a second bootstrap.
And as far as the update being pushed to you...
I'm not sure if being rooted will be enough.
Use titanium backup to freeze a system app. Like that CityID app.
Accept the update...and it will fail.
And not ask again.

That is what I've heard as well.
So i bricked my friends droid x and its currently stuck in bootloader.
Bootloader
30.04
Err: A5,70,70,00,1F
MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
ok to Program
Transfer mode: USB
Ive been googling around and i havent seen anything. I wanted to know if there is anything.
There is a very easy way to fix it, but before I tell you, I need to know how this happened?
(Eg. installing an OTA update)

Have u tried to sbf?
This is were I would get my proper sbf and use Linux to reflash the phone as stock. Then data reset it. Reboot and start over. You'll get it. If IT's boot up problem occurs after reboot from flash then try different from that one is not working for you or directions not proper

Like mike said, sbf time. Its pretty easy, just download the Motorola drivers, SBF file, and RSD Lite. Can be done on windows or linux.
I would recommend using the .605 sbf file rather then .621, as .621 can't be easily rooted or sfb'd.
Link with step-by-step: ugh, im a new user so it wont let me post outside links. Its stickied on Droid X forums>Rescue Squad>Droid X SBF

Hey yall, quick question. I just rooted my droid x to cm9 (I had .621, brought it down to milestone, rooted it with zerg, and flashed cm9). It runs perfectly, but I was just wondering, can I factory reset my phone still? You know from the settings menu, wiping even the sd card. Can I do that? Its a simple question, but i just want to make sure it wont mess anything up. Thanks.
I believe you can, but it will remove everything.
You can wipe data via ClockworkMod Recovery or stock recovery, alternatively.

Even root and ROM? or just apps and settings and stuff?
Factory resets won't remove root or ROMs. Just apps, data, and SD card if you so choose. If you want to remove root you'll have to SBF stock .621 using RSD Lite.

I currently have Milestone X version 4.5.604 and would like to restore my phone to 4.5.621 (there are some issues with the phone that my insurance will cover and would like to act on those but I assume I need to be on the current system version to be available to this coverage). I am not adept to flashing and was hoping you could provide further insight on how to SBF stock .621 with RSD Lite and/or where to find the stock .621 files.
Edit 1: Might these be the stock files? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517985
Edit 2: I figured out the solution to my own problem and am updating this post for any viewers who are in the same situation as I was. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/331-guide-flashing-droid-x-sbf/ and RSDLite vs. 5.4.4 returned my phone back to 4.5.621 in about 5 minutes.
Sorry for throwing a dead horse of a question out there but I'm kind of on a time crunch. I have my old DX running 2.3.3, (4.5.605), rooted, but no roms and Droid Bootstrap 2 Recovery is installed.
I need to return this phone back to full stock. I have a close friend who's going through some hard times and needs a phone. I'd like to give her a reliable phone that just works. Not concerned about rooting later on, just want to get it back to stock and allow the OTA's to push through.
I appreciate the help.

there is no need to allow ota to push, thats just adding a step
just flash the sbf version you want phone to be on
charge phone, install rsd lite, down load dx sbf, boot phone to bootloader, start rsdlite, select sbf, start
or use ezsbf for dx

I appreciate all advice. Thanks again.
Follow up question. If I'm just looking to unroot and bring back to stock, should I SBF using (Android 2.3.3 System Version 4.5.605 (VRZ_MB810_4.5.605_1FF_01)?
I followed your link SD, to the list of SBF files, and I'm guessing since I never took any OTA's since GB, this is the correct file to SBF.
Thanks again, just waiting for the battery to charge up.
if you flash sbf
phone will be unrooted, and stock, just backup any apps, texts, call logs, contacts..
that you want to save,
because you will need to wipe data, in android recovery
if system version 2.3.4/4.5.621 was never on phone you can flash
any DX sbf 1.13.604 through 4.5.605
and you can flash 4.5.621 if you want, it just changes the bootloader, so you can not use other SBFs
Lmk if you need 2.3.2 , have that and the old tbh tether hack zip .
Edit: looks like i also have 2.2.2 sbf as well.
