it would just freeze randomly when left alone...and i wouldn't even know unless i push the standby key and it doesn't turn on or the time on the LCD is way wrong
worst is i cant get any calls while it's frozen and i can never recieve a txtmsg sent while it's frozen..even if i reboot the txtmsg will never be recieved
even worst is when it freezes while the lcd is on...it just sits there like that draining the battery
i cant figure out why..i report,as well as others, about this problem before but no one has any idea what's causing it
and no, there is no 3rd party programs running and yes this will happen on a clean cooked rom with no options checks off..i've tried everything...my only guess is that tmail.exe or the messaging system is causing it..but i cant be sure
does anyone have any ideas, i have to poke my phone 5-6 times a day when it freezes. is there any memory resident apps that can detect a frozen OS and force a soft reboot? and coders want to have ago at it?
What ROM/Radio/apps are you running? My Titan has never done that except when There were some reg entries I botched when I first got it.
No offense, but it is usually user error when things go awry, from adding bad oem's to the kitchen or messing with the registry entries.
A little more info is needed please.
Mine will freeze up if I leave the wifi switch on and then hit the power button to put it in standby. Or if I just let it time out and it goes into standby with the wifi switch on.
I upgraded to the VZW MR1 update and all is fixed!!
im running D.C.D 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50
but this has been happening since before 3.2.X
no oems added, and like i said i would happen with a clean rom with no apps installed
i tried that to make sure it was a program i installed that was caussing it to freeze
i take it Windows Mobile doesnt have an event log or crash dump

Try radio 3.42.40 Some ppl were having problems with 3.42.50, but I used it for a couple of months ok.
Well, honestly, this is far out of my range of advice. I have been running DCD ROM's since I got my phone, and re-flashing has cured my no wifi/no bluetooth/no whatever problems since I started. Delete the kitchen package, restart your computer, re-download, build ROM and flash again.
Its not the most convenient option, but it will tell you whether you have a hardware problem or not.
I have had many problems with the no2chem rom I am running now, but in comparison DCD's ROMs should be solid. I suggest you re-download the kitchen and build again. Start fresh, then report back.

this happen with all radio's released since 3.40.02...i dont think it's the radio.
and i've tried recooking and reflashing with no success
wat it did try was this....i left the taskmanager running in process view and sorted by cpu usage..if i is a program i might catch it in action if the phone freezes with display on
and it did eventually...the program at the top wen it froze was tmail.exe @ 36% cpu useage...im not complete certain its the cause
and tmail.exe is a base OS file right? it's pocket outlook and i need it for TXTMSG
Do you have a lot of text messages saved? I have about 1500 saved... and if I keep more, freaky stuff happens... like bad restores with PIM and slow texting.
actually, i do about 4000
i'll archive them with PIMbackup and erase them
i'll report back

nope it didnt help...froze 4 times today
had exact same problem u did. did everything possible... nothing worked. turns out its a product defect that it crashes so brought it into telus store and they switched it for me.. since it was still under warranty if u have warranty i suggest u do the same... if not... im sorry mate this is not a software issue.
i had that defected phone for atleast a month.. and trust me when i say this.. i tried EVERYTHING. lol
actually its still under warrenty
i'll bear it and try and see if it is a software issue
i dont want to take it in for servicing if it's really not a hardware issue
the phone is pretty much new still
i might try flashing the official sprint rom and see if it fixes it
did you do a hardreset after each flash that you do. Cause if not you will have alot of footprint left over.
Only one app consistently locked my phone...
CorePlayer. I finally removed it after installing Kinoma Play (full edtion).
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
mine actually frooze when i have it in my pocket only. i found out that if the power on button is held down a long time, it might freeze light that. thats what i learned since i have it. it might strange weird but this is how it freeze with me.
DCD 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50.

It may be because you are going into a weak 3G area whilst its in your pocket (which causes the problem when the phone auto-switches bands) the solution is to try what I suggest and if not entirely satisfied then perhaps try to update the radio.

Do you not gt a 3G signal in your area or have you disabled it on the phone, you always have some type of signal going to the phone whether or not you actually run data connections.
If you are not using 3G then your must be getting an Edge or GPRS connection that you can make phone calls with. Its still worth setting the band type to GSM + AUTO even if you don't get a 3G signal in your area.
hang up etc
I installed everything in main memory and nothing but storage on card and doped to 49% on cpu, until phone is used and the around 55% , I dont know if that might help you but it did for me.
Hey all. I do not know any reports about this so I wanted to make a thread revolving around it.
I do not go out much and have bad data plan, so at home I really lie using Wifi, or anywhere where a spot is available. I noticed now though that after activating the wifi, it can take time, but every so often the wifi would still be connected, but all data moveent halts, as if clogged hole, hence description of the problem. After you close and open wifi connection and it reconnects, everything goes fine until next clogging.
Is this problem specific to me only, anyone else noticed this?
Is this problem 2.3.5 and .35 kernel specific? Is anyone on 2.2 froyo and .32 kernel having this problem?
Custom roms: does current MIUI for example suffer from this?
I am trying to find something abou this, if it is U8800 harware specific problm, then I just continue dealing with it, but if it is software based, I will try to fix it. Even if it needs downgrading or anything.
Yes, had this myself... It's very annoying and it usually happens if I reboot when Wi-Fi is already on, or wake-up the device from sleeping when wifi was on. But I can pretty much detect when it happens, the "Wi-Fi" icon stays gray, which means it did not connect to Google servers properly.
It's not hardware specific, I'm 90% sure it's the kernel (like all other fails in .35). I was using CM7 based on .32 before, and it had super fast Wi-Fi with no fails.
Yeah. I can get little by luttle more nnoyed by the anticts 2.3.5 - i should do the trick for pink screen and reinstall froyo. Is there a froyo mod for the quick wifi access and stuff from notification bar? Ah, like i need that if after it my wifi works perfectly.
No wonder official huawei.com site and product catalog do not list it as 2.3.5 device or offer update for it. For now I really think I am better off downgrading and waiting in lay...
I have had my phone replaced 4 different times and I have the same problem with each one. Whenever I update to a ICS ROM (stock or CM9) my Wifi and Cell signal goes to crap. I lose 10db on my cell signal and my wifi drops a bar or two. Also, my phone seems to randomly lose my data connection and doesn't come back unless I reboot.
This really kills me because I already have bad signal at home at work so it makes my phone useless.
I am probably going back to Gingerbread because of this unless someone can help. Any thoughts?
dear i have also same problem
dear i have same problem plz give me gingerbread link to dowload that version
i am very worry about this plz help me
thanks
kernel
Try changing kernel, like AIR Kernel.
Never posted in these forums before, since I've never suffered any problems with my HD2 until now. So I will post it my way.
Background info:
I have been using tytung's Android ROMS since he was developing Froyo, starting with MAGLDR. Since then I've been constantly upgrading to his next releases. When cLK eventually got stable (around the latest stable GB releases I think), I switched over to that bootloader. Not having any problems. When ICS finally got it's HWA fully working I switched over to this. I had never encountered any problems with my phone ever, which I am greatly thankful for... That was until now.
My problem:
Approx a week after installing tytung's NexusHD2 ICS v2.7, I started having problems with the phone's data connection in general. When I turn on the phone, it MAY get signal to my data carrier. Sometimes I do, other times I don't. I can try to put the phone in "Plane mode", and back to normal. But that has the same effect as when i turn off/on the phone. Other times when the signal bar shows that I either have full or 50% signal (two dots), I am not able to call, send sms nor browse the internet at all. WTF!? I have tried disabling the WiFi but this has no effect. When I search for data providers(carriers?), I may find all of them after two minutes of searching, I'll find none OR it will search for ever and never come to any conclusion.
Searching:
I have searched through nearly the whole developement thread, and also searched through this Q&A thread, but I can't find anyone who suffers the exact same problems as me. There are some threads and problems similar to mine, but none of their "fixes" has killed the problem for me.
What I have tried:
- Tried the WiFixerFree-solution
- Tried different (older) kernels
- Tried flashing older tytung releases (2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6)
- Did a fresh install
- Extending the system partition (in case of bad blocks)
no success
I don't think this has anything to do with tytung's newest release. It's just weird that this recently started happening, especially after working so good for so long. Does anyone have any clue on what I can do now?
Disassemble your phone and make sure the antenna tabs are touching the contacts,I did this and sure enough one was not touching. After reassembling, full signal was restored.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
Omg found the stupidest solution to this irritating one week-long problem.
I tried to extend the system partition even further. Weird that this solution rarely have come up as an option in the forums.
Hope this is helpful to anyone else who may suffer the data drop-problem.
EDIT: Nope... Just a temporarily solution. I can't understand why this should have something to do with the hardware, when I haven't done anything that could harm the phone in any way. But I'll do it asap, and report back. Thank you for the tip.
The 3g connection not working and I can't even use the gprs and I can't enter APNs to let the phone access the internet please please please help me
Now I can use the internet only through the Wi-Fi connection!!!!

Any good news? I have this problem also, after flashing 2.7. I have restored my HD2 back to my previous backup, but still suffering this problem.
The 3G/H signal jumps between 0 ~ 4 bars, but most of the cases it has 0 bar, then switches to edge. If the internet get disconnected, it cannot reconnect automatically. have to turn off data and back on to connect to the internet.
I flash the latest radio, no help. reflash the sd card, no help. reformat the phone, no help.
The last thing i want to try is to part my phone and reconnect the data antenna

if nothing helps/i break my HD2, then it is time to buy a new phone.
Reporting back. Just installed int2ext+, and can report back that after only 3 minutes of use that my data dropped... again. I were not able to call, and neither send sms or anything.
I will get the needed tools to disassemble my phone and TRY to fix the connections. When this is done I will report back again.
Thanks for all tips I have gotten so far! I love this community!
Fffffffffffffffff
NAH! Just disassembled my phone and straightened up the pin that was the problem for this guy
After 2 minutes of uptime, the signal dropped to two bars, then after ten more seconds it dropped to zero... Now it is back to "normal", doing random bumps from 0, to two to four bars. Soooo... f*uck
The pins were my problem, I only have data dropout when going into the market or sending/receiving MMS's now.
i have similar problem too.after using wifi tethering. 3g IS not working anymore till reboot. sometimes 3g automatically change to 2g and vice versa
Any solution?
First of all, hello ! I'm new around here and I just stumbled upon a problem I guess on my new phone ( the L5 II E460 ) so I decided to ask your opinion on this one cause I don't have that big knowledge about smartphones and androids to be honest
The thing is: Sometimes when I use the wi-fi connection home and toggle between the 3G data connection from once in a while the 3G Data stops working. The wi-fi connects back without no issues but if I switch to data it won't show the 3G sign up or H and I can't access anything unless I restart the phone, then everything goes back to normal ( to be honest this happened to me only twice and I have the phone since a month but it's still frustrating and first I thought my phone may be broken but after a little google search I found out that many people have this problem )
What other solutions are to stop this " problem " or whatever it is to occur again ?
Thanks.

I toggled multiple times just to try what you reported but it didn't happen to me.
Did you update your firmware? I also recommend also a full-wipe:
1 Turn the power off.
2 Press and hold the Power/Lock key + Volume Down key + QuickButton.
3 When the LG Logo appears on the screen, release all keys.
I didn't do any firmware update atm, it's still the Jelly Bean 4.1.2
It doesn't happen often, only from time to time and the airplane mode on and off toggle seems to resolve the problem so I'm guessing there is some problem between the wifi and data settings sometimes.

Do the update (through software update in your phone). It stays at Jelly Bean 4.1.2 it's just an update to it. Maybe it solves your problem, as it may have been a known bug. I've updated and I don't have your problem, maybe it was solved. Also do a full wipe afterwards.
Ditto... almost!

I have the LG-E460 (L5 MkII) and JB 4.1.2 updated to May 28th 2013. It is just 10 days old so I have 4 days left to decide to keep or return. This is my 1st ever smartphone, so I am without any doubt a NOOB in more ways than one.
If I understand correctly, my problem seems to be similar. If I am updating the weather, twitter or facebook etc, using my home wi-fi, every now and then I get a message "Network Unavailable", despite FULL signal on my network, and the only way to restore it is to turn Wi-Fi off, then on.
It seems to work just fine by leaving Wi-Fi off, thereby using the mobile data permanently.
Could this possibly be anything to do with the type of network in use? ie, WPA2-PSK etc?
Regards to all,
Mike

I experience wi-fi connection losses too, but not that often and I can live with it. If it's too often for you, return the phone as it is a bug. Others have reported it too (see the lg uk website for our phone).

This is, sadly, the conclusion I have come to. Apart from this one issue, I love the phone and it was the only unit at this monthly price-point that, in reviews anyway, was any good! The other handsets were Samsung Galaxy Ace, HTC Desire C and Huawei Ascend Y201.
I know reviews are not always the best way to choose but, out of the four, the L5 seemed to be "the one" for me, particularly after reading users reviews and studying the spec. sheets for all.
I'm trying to save money, not spend more, so the L5 will have to stay. Because it is new to me, I'm using it WAY more than is normal, just to get to know it, so in normal use I can probably put up with it.
Thank you for letting me rant on; and thank you for a great site.
Best regards, to all,
Mike

Well, I haven't found a cure, but I have found a way round it!
It would appear to be WPA that's causing the intermittent, but common, "No Connection" message... I changed to WEP and it has now been perfect for over 24 hours.
I think I've got this right: in WEP a "key" is only sent at the outset! With WPA, a key is generated every so often and it must be that which is upsetting the L5 and causing it to "have a fit"
Any thoughts would be welcome... I do know the pitfalls of using WEP, but it has proved a point... at least I think it has.
Regards,
Mike
