Hi,
Motorola repaired my Defy+ (they flashed 2.3.6 retail 4.5.1-134_DFP- 231).
Now always when the phone starts using data on 2G the screen becomes blackband the phone performs a soft restart (I don't need to put my PIN in again).
Sometimes I can work an hour on edge without problems but later I can feel every minute the startup-vibrate.
When I'm on Wifi the phone works normal. I could only test 3g very short so I don't know if that works or not.
Does someone has a solution for this?

Hey guys,
I have a very enoiing problem, when i start my X10 up my GSM signal is good, but after not using the phone for like 3 hours (while in the main time just being in sleepmode), I've got no signal at all anymore and have to restart the phone. This problem doesn't happen if I haven't used my phone for like half an hour and i use it again (while in the main time just being in sleepmode). Is this a wrong setting or something like that? because normally my signal is great, except when I haven't used it for a while (like 2 hours or more)
Regards, Meikrekel
Have any spooky task killer app ?

Nope, that isn't the problem. Tested it, but that ain't the problem
I had this and similar other issues. Turned out to be the se backup app. I use titanium so simply removed the stock backup.
Maybe worth a look for you mate. Use titanium to freeze it first to confirm.

Thank you so much, it seems to work. I didnt have a connection before i removed it, after removing it i already had connection again=D

Ok this is strange, your solution worked for 2 days and now the problem is back:s

The only advice I can offer is that I only used to get this when an app, for whatever reason, accessed the sim.
For me it was the se stock backup app.

Hello, I've installed the Virtuous Galaxy rom on my Iconia and have now encountered a strange (possible) bug.
When I wake my tablet up, I can see that tthere's no Wireless connection. So I go into Settings to make sure the wireless is connecting, then my screen goes black and the flashing ANDROID appears. It's there for a few seconds only and then I'm back to the lock screen with no wireless.
I left the tablet alone to see what would happen and it just cycles through the lock screen & 'reboot'. I can't connect to wireless to download Ti Backup so I'm guessing a full Wipe & re-flash is in order.
Does anybody have some kind of idea as to what could be happening??
Please don't tell me i have to re-flash, my boyfriend just clocked Cut the Rope!!

What's clocked mean ? And are you on the latest

This is not a problem with the galaxy rom as I was experiencing the same issue on the early release 3.1. I fixed mine by disconnecting from the wireless network (must be quick to access settings and disconnect before the tab reboots) then forget the network and power cycle your router..you should then be able to reconnect without the random reboots. Hope this helps

This is not an issue with the galaxy rom. Check your wifi settings as mine is set to always on. Also what kernel are you using as the random reboot issue was solved from unity v3. Sounds like a bad flash to be honest. Always wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing the rom.

If the kernel I'm using is wrong, what kernel *should* I be using? I've never had to fiddle around with kernels before.

This worked like a charm; thanks!
Can anybody tell me what kernel I should be using?
And is there a decent reason to upgrade from Virtuous 1.0.1 to 1.0.2?

Honestly take a look at the rest of the galaxy thread it will give you a indication of what problems to expect.

I'm not really experiencing any problems as such now that I know how to deal with the weird WiFi thing.
What I'm interested in now is the kernel.
Last week when the Onavo data monitor app appeared prominently placed on the market home screen I gave it a try.
Unfortunately it created a very annoying bug on my phone running JVU and Semaphore 2.5:
whenever my phone looses it's wifi connection for any reason it will not recognize and connect to available wifi anymore even if placed directly near the router with full signal strength!
The only way to get it connected again is switching wifi off and then on again...
I already uninstalled the app and did a factory reset but nothing changed. Probably it messed up some system files that don't get touched during factory reset.
As I'm in vacation now and don't have my data cable with me to flash a fresh firmware, is there any way to resolve this issue in other means?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Nobody here with any idea how to resolve this? It's really annoying as even battery consumption goes up very much when the phone looses wifi and auto connects to 3g.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have no idea about your problem. I also have just installed Onavo on JVU firmware for a couple days, but everything is still ok....
So, I'm thinking the cause is from your router!! Why don't you try another wifi network?
Good luck!! ^^
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Thanks for your answer! It doesn't depend on my router. As I said I'm in vacation right now and therefor using many different available hotspots, it happens on all of them... :-(

Any issues with battery drain and onavo? Cause it was sucking mine dry!! I thought it was semaphore's fault (i'm on icssgs 4.2) until i figure it out and uninstalled it. Now it is Almost as prior installing onavo. I have a feeling that it left some garbage behind though.
It definitely left some garbage behind and this thread is about to find out how to get rid of it.
Battery drain was and unfortunately still is very high on my device thanks to the non desired 3g connection instead of wifi...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Try to flash a new kernel again. It may help you updating some files that control wifi.
I used onavo for couple of days, battery drains. Its functions already in ICS roms, Less but good.

I only got my n7 a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately updated to 4.2. I didn't notice any issues. Immediately after the 4.2.1 update I keep getting random connection issues. I have to turn wifi off and on to resolve it.

I had the issue.. 32gb version in the US with the sep build. I actually had it prior to to 4.2.1. I ended up going into advanced properties and changing wifi to always on. Drains battery, but fewer need to turn wifi off and back on.

Yes. I have WiFi disconnects and random reboots since the new update .

WiFi Fixer
I use WiFi Fixer downloaded from Google Play. When the connection is dropped it automatically reconnects after a second or two.
Same on my 7 WiFi stops working at random times turn WiFi off and on fixes it, only started after 4.2.1 update

Thanks for confirming everyone. I have wifi always on and still have the issue. Hopefully it gets fixed...

My WiFi is always on and tethered to my evo3d at least 8 hours a day. Not a single problem under 4.2.1.

Just to clarify, i'm having this problem 100% stock. Not rooted what so ever. Roms/kernels could have this eliminated. But I wouldn't know.

No wifi internet / e-mail / notifications after 4.2.1
I am having a similar issue. Stock Nexus 7, never rooted, installed the 4.2.1 update when it was pushed. Since then I can connect to wifi connections but there is no internet access. While the icon in the upper right has small flashing arrow like data is being sent back and forth, the icon remains gray and no internet-requiring services on the tablet work. I've tried everything that I (and Google Play and Asus support) could think of with no luck.
The only thing they could come up with at the end was to restore the tablet to factory settings. Unfortunately I have application data that I need to back up that I can't access by accessing the internal storage using my laptop (I'm stock, remember?).
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Anyone have any suggestions? It was very frustrating when the Asus representative suggested I use the built-in backup and restore feature:
Me: "That requires internet access to work right?
Asus representative: "Oh....right..."
My Wi-Fi on both my Nexus 7's is very slow. They stay connected fine but I'm getting about 150kbps download speeds. I factory reset one of them to no prevail. Anyone have any insight on this or heard of others with this issue? All my other devices work fine on the same Wi-Fi connection and I tried turning everything else off so just the Nexi where connected to see if the speeds are faster, but they aren't. I'm stock on both devices and both are the 16gb version, one older than the other.

Known issue. I logged a bug with Google and there's actually several open bugs reporting wifi issues. So far, none of the bugs are being picked up by google officially.

I've tried this same thing, and as soon as I installed 4.2, WiFi went to sh**. Completely stock.
So turning wifi off then on seems to be the generally excepted quick fix?

Or use Static IPs. That solved it for me. I had to ask my company to provide a reservation for my MAC Address. It's like back in the 90s when Wifi started coming out using the BellLabs/Lucent chipset.
Here are my specs:
Phone
16gb galaxy s4
At&t
Not rooted
Touchwiz
Android 4.2
MF3 baseband
Router
Apple airport extreme
Auto channels
WPA password protected
I have seen some threads with the s4 running slow on dlink WiFi, but I have an airport extreme base station at home. My phone rings perfectly on 4g/LTE, but nothing seems to work on Wi-Fi. YouTube is slow as hell, play store takes forever to load. A few weeks ago, everything was working great over Wi-Fi too, so I wanted to ask if anyone else is currently having this issue?
My wife's iPod touch works fine on the same Wi-Fi, as well as a thinkpad and macbook air.
I've already tried disabling Wi-Fi power saving mode, but haven't touched any other settings. Any thoughts on what to do? I was thinking about taking it to best buy and switching out the phone, maybe a bad phone? (Not likely because it was working fine a few weeks ago)
