problem in HD2 battery charging ! - HD2 General

two days before i try change my hd2 rom with sd android.
it way very good and my phone boot up normally with android and working fine.
when i try to setup some application on new os my phone hang up and i have to eject the battery to restart the phone.
after that my phone restart with WM6.5 and everything seems ok but when i plug my phone to charger, it dosen't charge the phone and notification led blink in orange/ green color.
can somebody halp me?

wm6.5 might be the problem
are u running the sd build with the stock rom?
most of the problems do occur due to an incompatible wm6.5 rom
i suggest to try the android build with energy rom in wm6.5 rom development
and use radio 2.15.50.14 from the radio thread
ur charging problem might be solved..
further u can increase ur android's performance by creating an sd-ext partition(max1gb)... but it's just optional...

green / orange flashing led often points to problem battery.
Also look very carefully at the three battery pins, check for bends / cracks.

i change my phone os to android by nand method and the battery charge fine but it discharge about half a day with 30 min talk time.
i reflash it with official 3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14 file and the same problem occur.

It sounds like Samsamuel maybe right and it is your battery going bad.

Check your phone battery temperature. Flashing green/red means also overheating.

[edit] it's your battery then, get a new battery and see if the problem is still there. I had the problem in android where I had a fake chinese battery and it just remained at 0%, and would only charge on cradle charger. If you want to keep the bad battery for a while try to using an external charger and see if it charges it better.

[Q] [NAND] How to charge an empty battery?

NAND is a new experience with HD2 but what if the battery gets empty?
Mine won't recharge.
The LED lights orange but there is no recharge.
Seems like the devs have forgotten this very important thing...
Any ideas?
plug in the usb cable
then turn it off it wont shutdown completely and red led will turn on

Thanks, but the phone is off (battery is completely empty)...
Orange light is on but it does not charge...
Pull your battery out and also the plug. Wait one minute. Put in the adapter first, let it charge for 3 minutes, then startup the device. Pls do and report back

With the phone off it should just charge, magldr doesn't load until turned on so its not nand related
Are you using usb charger or mains?
Ok, thanks. I will test it.

You tell me if I'm wrong but he's trying to charge his phone witch has no power the phone is off and it won't charge so how is that nand related?
If it is a battery that has not been used for a LONG time then you must "shock" it to be able to charge it again. Use a standard 9V alkaline battery and connect the +, - poles to the HTC battery +, - poles respectively using 2 wires - do that for 30 to 60 seconds. Then put the HTC battery back in the phone.
WARNING: Do NOT connect the 9V alkaline battery to the phone. Only to the HTC battery which you have removed from the phone.
Lol same thing happen to me yesterday i charge the phone for 10-15 mins then unplug the phone and pull battery then start the phone once completely in android replug it. I think dft said it was a known problem for nand to not start sometime when plug in although it only happen to me when I'm completely drained.

I'll take your word for it he's probably fixed it by now anyways
Charging while phone is off is buggy for me since I installed MAGLDR.
For example sometimes orange light bulb freezes turned on even i unplug the cable, until I pull the battery.
Firsty I thought that the problem is impossible to be caused by magldr, but now lots of people with magldr installed are experienced battery charging problems ... interesting.
--
PS: Charging on Android was also always buggy for me since the first HD2-Android release.
Some of the problems (randomly happens):
1- Charging stops when it hits to %90
2- Battery level jumps from %90 to 100% while charging (according to the JuicePlotter app, it draws battery graph by time)
I'm using TMOUS HD2 and tried every single Android build since the first release.

I have reproduced this case several times,
but no, I don't have magldr installed,
only winmo and SD android.
I presume this is the bug of HD2 in general, that it won't charge when the battery level is 1% or bellow. Several occasions the phone was shut down during the sleep. Woke up and plug the charger and it always gives me orange-dim-green-dim-red-dim and so on,,, (note that this is in WinMo) and after turned the phone on, it stops charging and 15 seconds after booting, it shut off.
what I always do when I encounter this is performing battery cycles reset.
or,,, just uninstall the battery, wait for 10-30 seconds, re-install the battery, and with the phone off, charge the phone using wall charger.
These are the dangers playing with ROMS people. The rom controls vital functions of the hardware, including the way the system charges. This is a serious flaw that must be addressed immediately, and imo should not have been released if known about. The new territory of nand builds could even brick our phones permanently. I wouldnt mess around without reading reviews first. Android devs here have been quick to release builds overnight because they know it's just running off the SD card and can always be wiped back to winmo. Not anymore, these builds need SERIOUS testing first before being released to the general public.
This is caused from NAND Magldr.
If you have a cable plugged into your phone, either wall charger or USB, it will freeze when the phone shuts down.
Solution!!
Dont have the cable plugged in while powering down android.
If your LED stays orange after unplugging, pull your battery for 3 seconds and start again, it will only do this upon shutdown with some kind of cable plugged in.
This has never happened before Magldr.
This is a big issue... I dont know when Devs Team is gonna look into this and fix it...
Would it brick my phone?
No it won't brick your phone...how I solved it...discussed a couple days ago, here...

HD2 charge from dead battery questions

I have an HD2 I just bought, should be still under warranty (aside from running wp7 and random warranty-voiding stuff) and I am noticing an issue of when I totally kill it, it seemingly won't charge (or no charge light comes on at least) until I pull the battery out and put it back in. Also, I have noticed it doesn't power on from that state (light goes from orange to green) until I pull out the battery and put it back in. Is it just because I'm running WP7 and hardspl3 or radio 2.14.50... (or whatever recommended radio is for wp7). It's not a huge deal but it makes me curious. Also I get occasional restarts upon booting wp7 but it always boots into it (maybe 1 or 2 restarts every ten boots, and it seems to happen more after total kill). Just wondering if people are having similar issues.
WP7 is pretty cool, but I am wondering how many prefer 6.5? I'm an avid Android user (never ran 6.5 except on a Blackjack ii briefly, and yes, 6.5) and I was curious what you guys thought of wp6.5 vs wp7.
Lastly, I am wanting a magldr compatible sd version of a Desire HD ROM with sense and everything that isn't overclocked (I know there are some out there that are, ie DL.DesireZ 3.x).
Please advise.
It's not WP7, it is MAGLDR. MAGLDR does not have a software in it which allows the phone to charge when off.
My advice to you, never, ever, let your phone lose charge. A dead battery is a dead phone in our case, unless you have spare batteries.
I figured something like that. It's not going to botch the magldr flash though if it dies, is it? I would assume magldr is read-only or close to or something like that to where it can't corrupt itself.
I don't see why a dead battery can kill MAGLDR, it'll just leave your hd2 unable to turn on. However MAGLDR, I assume, isn't incorruptible. Well if you're afraid of corruption from leftover flashing, for whenever you want to flash WP7, Android or winmo, perform a task 29 first, flash MAGLDR, and then the OS. Well if it winmo, then a task 29, then simply flashing winmo and done.
Oh and the reason WP7 kept on rebooting on yours was because your sd card was incompatible. My advice is to reformat the sd card with panasonic formatter, full format btw, and then reinstall WP7. If that doesn't work, you just have to get a new card.
A MAGLDR SD desire hd version I know not of. Since NAND came out, SD development has died off so there are only a few developers that still strive in that forum.
Well it restarts hardly ever so I probably am not going to worry about it. It's the stock HD2 sd that came with the phone. The reason I want an sd build is because I want to dual boot.
I don't understand how I seem to be the only one who can charge in magldr.
I've drained my battery many times to the point where it doesn't turn on to calibrate using Android. Pulled battery, reinserted and connected wall charger. Orange light comes on which means it's picking up charge, leave it for a few minutes so it gets some residual charge in it, pull battery and charger, reinsert, boot up, then during boot process plug the charger back in and away you are, charging from scratch.
I too didnt have any problems charging dead batteries via MAGLDR.
Those who are can update to version 1.13 as its now got a workaround for it apparently.
I wasn't aware v13 was even out. Well it's not a big deal. Glad everyone is having this issue . This bug still beats having to wait 20 minutes for my stock Sammy Vibrant to boot up. Damn ridiculous.
Is your battery life worse on WP7 or WP6.5? I get roughly 8-10 hours. I'm surprised it burns that much electricity seeing as how all it is is some colored squares and no data connection or multitasking.
EDIT: Updated to MAGLDR ver. 1.13 without a hitch. Will see how this goes. For the record I was using 1.12.
I guess this is the fix:
"*Fixed Power-Off-Cable-Plug-Stop. Phone now detects this situation and reboots. Battery controller inside LEO needs runtime control during charge, it implemented in OS."
I could do it on the first version of magldr, as long as the Orange light comes on you're good to go, just leave to get some charge then pull everything reinsert turn on, simple...
I found the trick--MAGLDR V1.13
Plug the phone into a wall charger. Hold the call end button as soon as the phone comes on booting into MAGLDR. Let the phone stay at the MAGLDR menu screen for about 15 to 20 minutes. Restart the phone and leave it on the charger. It will have enough power to make it to the android home screen.
sorry for the delayed reply bro but i justr had this problem lately and know abt the fix for it... just go into magldr by pressing the power key for sumtime on bootup... after that plug in the wall adapter for about 20 - 30 minutes... havng done that remove the battery and insert it agiain w/o the charger... start the phone and let it go the main wp7 screen where it will stay for only about 20 seconds... quickly run to the settings menu and switch on airplane mode and put the brightness to the lowest setting... and quickly lock the screen... the phn will start charging fine... now leave it for an hour to charge and then adjust the brightness as u like and turn on airplane mode... it will work fine... take precautions for next time... there is a kind of an odd fix that was in forums...(sorry dont have the link)... when the wp7 is working go to the default camera and go to the video camera mode and switch back to the still camera and press the windows buttn to go to the main screen... the battery drainage is very less in this case and the stanby increases... cheers!

[Q] HD2 losing charge

Anyone else have the following problem?
While running Android I plugged in the usb cable and the orange LED came on indicating phone charging. However after a minute or so it will stop charging with the orange LED gone.
Weird thing is sometimes if I wait long enough (10-15 min) the charging will pick up again, however it only happens once in a while.
It may looks like the cable isn't packing enough juice, but it was working fine with SD build, problem only starts after I flashed magldr 1.3 and moved onto a NAND build (DesireZ).
Possibly try re-installing the same nand and see what happens..backup before handhand
Sent from a noobs hd2
I've updated to latest version of DesireZ NAND rom, right after booting into Android the led starting blinking green and amber, after some research it indicates either the phone overheat or the battery can't be charged.
I immediately swapped back my original HTC battery and problem gone. So I guess it was all because of a faulty replacement battery.
My phone sometimes does the same when I use a charger that is not giving the phone enough power
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I got the same prob here. With the origional battery and a replacement one. The only way i can get the battery to charge is to take it out and ust the docking station that i got as the phone will not even charge when docked.
My battery widget say that the battery is overheated but its cold.
Sort of re-installing it again does anyone know why.

[Q] HTC HD2 died and now won't charge.

Hi,
Since yesterday my phone (leo/hd2) died and when ever i tried to charge it it would go in to a boot loop then back to normal booting (as in wp7 bootscreen) but now a day later it won't even charge! I have checked the pins tried different cables and still nothing. Also there is a small red tab on the bottom of the battery near the connecter which used to be pink.
Maybe your battery is completely drained? If so, check here.
it won't even turn on so i can't perform this > does this mean it's dead?
have you tried a different battery because you have used a WP7 rom and when the battery drains out it can not be charged ( unless charged on another phone) so i recommend you using a different phone to charge your battery or get another battery into your phone
Thanks, i'll try that now. But does the red tab mean anything?
Hi,
I have this very often. Problem is that your battery is completely drained and the phone doesn't have enough power to start.
This is how I solve it:
start charging your phone
when it switches on, keep pressing the power on/off button
you'll arrive in the magldr boot screen.
just wait for about 5 to 10 minutes
start windows phone (it's possible you'll have to remove your battery and put it back in your phone).
Voila WP7 starts without any problem.
good luck!
try an external battery charger/universal battery charger. (i recommend keeping one handy whenever u r messing with wp7)

Piece of crap?
Whoa, cannot agree there...
If you carefully follow all the tutorials, hints and tips here at xda, HD2 runs fast and smooth with several OS´s of your choice.
However, there is still a possibility that your device is defective. Or the cable. Or whatever. But that doesn´t make HD2 a piece of crap in general.
Lol, its the charging port and a defective rom once i fix both i will have to go back to miui ;( Is there any rom which allows charging while the phones off.
Hi,
It's not the rom, it's magldr...
Koen
What do you mean? Do i need to downgrade? Can you charge while it's off?
if u have 1.13 and u can reach the magldr screen then plug it in,quickly switch it to usb masstorage mode. but dont keep it there for long as the screen will be awake all the time.
try keeping it that way for 15-20 mins,it shld give u enuf juice to boot it up

what he meant was that, its not the ROM's fault that u cant charge it while the phone's off,
you see, whenever u plug in a switched off phone,it quickly boots into the magldr mode, before booting ANY OS( or any version of any rom ),and thats y it wont charge while switched off(unless future magldr provides this function)....the only reason WinMo cld charge your phone while switched off is that it dint need MAGLDR before booting
try the usb mass storage method if possible,it works
hope i helped ya
dont forget to thank all the hardworking developers
I always have a problem with aftermarket chargers and charging through USB. It won't chargers in both scenarios....any body has an idea on that?
When my HD2 completely drains i just attach the (original) charger and it will start cycling boot...but eventually the battery will be charged.

Better not do hard reset on the Android, can not help but bring you trouble ... to the charge I had the same case on CM 7.2, after a few reboot is to be changed do not know what the problem was, the developers are working on it, read forum you will find lots of information about
"i can hear a strange noise coming from the charging kit"
I would not use it, it is safer to be charged via USB cable.

Thx for reply. I don't think it's an android ROM problem. I had the same problem when i still used the wm 6.5
here's a solution
Flash Back to Wi-Mo and Check Setings\System\Power\Battery -Do not charge the battery if the phone is switched on and connected to a PC.
How do you know, that the phone is not charging?
The state of the LED (red/green/off) is changed by software (WM/Android), if the device is turned on, while the charging itself is controlled by hardware only.
You should check, if the phone is really not charging, while its turned on. Just ignore the charging LED and monitor the charging state of the battery after an hour, after you started with an almost empty one.
Best regards
@stahlnase, you're right when it comes to Android, but (windows phones) have software to control the charging. Something else;although we have through the nand installation erased entire phone, there are still some Wi-Mo "things" in this case battery setting or GPS was also associated with a Win-Mo settings. Regards!
I'm still not convinced, that the battery doesn't get recharged, just because the LED is not on
But you made an important point about enabling charging, while being connected to PC. Since demian12 is not using the HTC USB power supply, the device might "think" it is connected to a PC instead on a pure USB recharger. I believe, there are differences in the wiring of USB connectors to determine, if its a power and data plug or power supply only.
Regards.

Because your battery is completely empty ... it is necessary to leave some time (5-10 min) to charge, ignore charging indicator, the battery is charging! After ten minutes put the battery out / in and start a Phone.
Go to: Setings \ System \ Power \ Battery.
And Unselect option: -Do not charge the battery if the phone is switched on and connected to a PC.
Done

If you have a good HTC charger and battery doesn't charge after you reseted windows to factory default, then your problem is hardware related.
Of course I have some ideas, but do not have time until Monday to deal with anything. Sorry. I have a suspicion that Nokia charger burned your phone. Of course, should be checked, maybe is a bug in the Android battery driver, and with the help of a trick to make the jump and put everything into place. either way, do not give up, try again and again to turn on your phone.
