Google Play Video Rejects Rooted Devices - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I downloaded Google Play Video and when I ran it, informed me that because I was rooted, I couldn't play rented videos. What is up with this? I am running CM9 ICS

It means what is says. Either its intentional or there will be a fix shortly.

I received Google's response. Basically, they said it was a copyright safeguard issue. I understand that this was intentional, I OP was in the context of the implications, especially in light of Google's response.
If that is Google's position, is it possible that they could extend this to any of their apps that involve protected content such a Books and Music? The whole "rooted" issue is a Red Herring anyway, because technically, our desktops and laptops are "rooted. "
Is Google starting to get pressure from the OEMs?

Try an app named 'on the air root keeper' from market it temporary unroots the device so that you can use any app

Google Video blocked rooted devices since LONG before the Play rebranding.

There are several ways around this. the easiest is simply to rename the su binary to something like mu. Play your video - then rename it back.

Was this market intended only for phones? I know it said 2.2 or higher, and another site said 2.2 and 2.3...but was it also intended for tablets? for 3.0?
I believe it was, although I'm not completely sure. If you own a tablet I would recommend trying it to be sure.
Also, movie rentals cannot be watched on rooted devices.

Honeycomb has the movie tab already. So I wouldn't try it on my xoom, but I've already got it on my dx. its not bad, seems really cluttered.

[Q] Google Wallet support?

Does the Nexus 7 support Google Wallet? I've only heard one report that it doesn't show up in the Play Store and billions of journos C&Ping that it was rumored to have Google Wallet.
AFAIK the NFC chip has a Secure Element so will Wallet actually work and has anyone tried it?

regardless of hardware support, I read in a review somewhere that wallet is not included. I don't remember which review and hopefully someone else will confirm.
It can use google wallet. I don't know if it comes pre-loaded, but my buddy that works for google says it works with GW.
Yes, Google wallet support

Coolio. So it looks like I just need to sideload the APK from Play if it's not there... Thanks!~
No need to side load it. Just visit play.google.com in the browser and search for wallet. When you get to the point just before opening the app page you'll be asked if you want to open it with your browser or the play app. Select play app and you can install it from there. Its the same process that we vzw gnex users had to go through tob get wallet from the play store.

Market

I went to install an android app via the market on the internet and it doesn't list my Nexus? Probably because it's rooted, but how do I fix this? I've never had this issue with rooted phones before.
Mines rooted and running PA and it shows up in the Play Store. Are you sure you're signed into your google account and sync is on?
Which app?
It has nothing to do with root.

I don't know in your specific situation, but rooting the phone won't make it disappear from your devices in the Play Store.

Any idea how to fix it or if it's an issue with Google and not my phone?
Edit: not sure why but clearing the cache/market data fixed it

Streaming H.264 Videos Help!!

Hello all,
I am a new owner of a Nexus 7 (16G-All stock) and so far so good...except for the blueprint lsat prep website:
Note: I'm sorry, I'm new and cannot post links yet. If you try to go on the blueprint lsat prep website, the homepage has a link to sample videos of the course.
The company claims that it is possible to watch on Android. I have tried to watch using Chrome without any success. Tried it on Iphone, and the video played.
Since I am quite happy with the Nexus 7, I'd hate to have to return it and exchange it for an Ipad.
Please, please help!
Have you tried a third party media player such as mxplayer, or dice player? There are a few on the play store.

I have tried other browser and switched the user agent to iPad and it works, except that the video looked funky and there was no video control.
The sample videos are on blueprintprep dooot com slassh last_phone
Thank you for your help!
This looks like a YouTube embedded video, which works for me as well on Chrome.

Play store "can't update review"

Trying to update my one star review of the Facebook app to 2 stars, and every time it says "can't add review". Also it shows me as a "google user" instead of my Google plus name, seems apps I used before and wrote a review for have this issue. Anyone know how to fix it?

Yes it does that to me as well. I noticed usually this happens when I have a very long review or if I have certain words in the review title.

Apparently something wrong with the google play store itself. Doesn't work on my Nexus 7 either, but from a pc I have no issues
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I don't know if it is related, but I tried writing my first review yesterday (it was from my phone), and a message came up requiring me to set up Google+ in order to write it. I have enough apps spying on me to add another one just to write a review......so I said the hell with it.
Yeah It's stupid it requires a membership to a social network to write reviews

Apparently I too have the same issue.
I see that only with the Facebook app we have this issue. With other apps its okay, I can update my own review.
So what did I do?
I logged into Google play from my PC and after signing in, I was able to delete my old review there. I added my new review back again from mobile.

Lol facebook is bitter, been making such a crap app for long the developers can't take the one star reviews anymore. Yeah I figured that out planned to update my findings in here but forgot. Thanks for sharing though

I think I figured out the issue! Beta testing. I'm a beta tester for Facebook, action launcher, and sliding messenger pro. None of the above can I write a review for, at least not from my device, I can from a pc. Guess it makes sense, Google doesn't want people complaining about beta features on reviews
