Hello I am new to xda. I have been over at sdx, where I use to have a Samsung Transform. Now I've moved to T-Mobile and have the mt4g.
I just rooted my phone tried out a few roms and liked the Ice Glacier rom as it is the stock on steroids as some put it...
My question is, does Ice Glacier already have JIT or is there a zip add on I can get for it. I have tried to find it but the search system did not find it for me. I looked the the original thread of the Ice Glacier Rom but did not see a mention of JIT in their post.
JIT is built-in functionality on Froyo and up, that's why you don't find any reference to it. It's just always there.
yes but some still make tweaks to it and make it an add on. There is always room for improvement in stock anything...

jit is on ask the devs if you want, jit was an issue on weaker phones only but is enabled on stronger ones. Jit hacks for eclair made it buggy, but its native for froyo and higher. Scores for quadrant and linpack would be lower with it disabled...

You're going to get the same responses as that guy. Do some reading and answer your own question rather than expecting others to spoon feed you the answer.

Use cm7.1 stable. It's great battery life and most stable you can get. Download from rom manager app.

i like affinity..
MIUI - There are several to choose from.
Sense 3.5 Runnymede - Also several to choose from. I've had great success with MikRunny, Darkside Sense v4.0, and Team RCMix3D. Each has its own things that make it different. You'll want to grab mms fix from any of those threads. Also, if you like trackpad wake you'll need a zip for that, too. Available in several threads.
CM7 variants. There are, like, 50 of these. Absolution is GREAT, as well as TheDerekJay's kang. Dereks has nice features.

Use cm 7.2 with ics transitions by euroskank, with tdj also kernel.
Best available.

Virtuous Unity is a great start...good luck!
You will commonly find four different types of roms for our phone: AOSP, CM, MIUI, and Sense.
AOSP - Android Open Source Project.
This is Android in its most 'pure' form, although it lacks some of the extra features found in other roms.
CM - CyanogenMod
CM roms are based mainly on AOSP code, with added tweaks, apps, and features.
MIUI -
MIUI is a Chinese rom with a heavily customized interface that is translated into English and ported for phones such as ours. While many people love the interface created by MIUI (myself included), be prepared to have occasional elements of Chinese in some of the MIUI apps. This rarely affects usability, but it is a deal breaker for some.
Sense -
This is the default interface on an HTC phone such as ours. Many people love it, especially for the fancy widgets that come with it, although my experience is that it has more bloat and worse battery life than other options.
For battery life, I still like RoyalGinger 3.0 the best. It's an AOSP / CM7 combo. It's based on 2.3.4, which isn't the newest out there, but it is very stable, fast, unbloated, and good for battery life.
You can find out more about RoyalGinger here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12734035
If you want a blacked out cm7 base ROM, check the dev section sometime this week.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

The absolute truth
Hi everyone, I apologize ahead of time if these questions are redundant and can be found in different forums. I recently received a MyTouch 4G from T-Mobile as a replacement for my wife's lost Samsung Galaxy S 4G and am trying to set up a stable system for her.
I've already downgraded, rooted, and installed a custom ROM (currently CM7 7.2.0 RC1) but wanted to ask a few questions.
1) ROM recommendation? Rock-Solid ROM with non-buggy WiFi calling is a must since we have poor reception at home. I imagine that a ROM based off of an official T-Mobile base for the Glacier would be best but I'm not sure.
1a) For such a ROM, is there a preferred standout kernel?
2) Is there any hope for ICS roms to gain solid WiFi Calling capability?
3) Out of curiosity, why are there so many ROM ports? Are they just as stable and functional as one specifically for the Glacier?
Thanks a lot for your answers! I know it's very subjective but I'm hoping to get some good feedback so I don't have to keep deleting her data as I try out different things
Virtuous Unity is an oldie but goodie and everything works. Use the kernel it comes with.
There is always hope for any feature. Wifi calling will work well on ICS eventually. Give it time.
There are many very good roms for other phones that port well. The MyTouch 4G has two "sister" phones that share the same SoC and port easily. Why build a whole new ROM when you can port? Also, keep in mind that a non-ported ROM has to be compiled from source which, for the most parrt, limits you to AOSP, AOKP and CyanogenMod. We have lots of that. Any sense ROM that isn't based off of a glacier/panache build is going to be a port, as well as MIUI.
Edit: I almost forgot. Android Revolution HD is right up there with VU in functionality and is still supported. There is a camcorder fc, but a fix can be found in the thread. Doubleshot cam and 720p setting, as I recall.
Android Revolution HD
Best. ROM. Available.
yeah virtuous is good too, but ARHD is so much faster

I used to have an HTC Sensation (which my 1-year old son tragically dropped into a cup of joe) and ARHD was definitely one of the most stable and popular ROMs.
However, because of his commitment to a stock experience I had to flash several add-ons to get desirable tweaks (battery%, ultra-smooth rosie, extended quick-settings, custom power-button settings).. are these also available for the Glacier version? (I read the thread and it seemed like the latest version does not have these yet?)
Thanks again!
ps. Is it best to keep the kernel that comes with it?
flash rc tweaks. There is a link in that thread somewhere. Also, that kernel is really good. If you don't like it you could try thederekjay's sense kernel, but I doubt you will need to change.
The ROM called LeeDroid is good too, I've been using it for several weeks, no problems.

Thanks!
I installed ARHD 7.0.3 with RC Tweaks and it's been pretty darn amazing. Everything works (so far) and fast!
Thanks again for not letting me flounder around.. very much appreciated!
The real test is whether or not SHE likes it.
Haha.
I'm using CM7.2 RC1 along with thederekjay's Darkside Kernel and i have absolutely no problems and beyond excellent batt. life.

Call me blasphemous but Sense feels a lot smoother than CM.. have you seen how smoothly the screen transitions ? It also looks more polished IMO.
Having said that, is there any way to adjust the haptic feedback level on ARHD? It's too strong for my liking.. tried to search but didn't turnip anything.
Hi guys,
Can you suggest me a fast-stable 2.1 Sense Rom (+rooted) for HTC Hero ?
I'm going to give the phone to a friend, so i would like it to have the smoothest and most stable rooted ROM.
Thank you

Have you considered flashing a 2.2 ROM instead? Reason why I say this is because you'll find more apps that are made for Android 2.2 and above.
There are a number of very stable 2.2 ROMs that provide excellent performance and battery life. For example, I like Floyo 1.2 with Flykernel 13. Floyo can be themed to look like Gingerbread if want. (I know this not within the scope of your question)
EDIT: I guess I should give you a 2.1 suggestion. Try Heroine (it comes with Flykernel 13 too)

You might try Elelinux Sense 2.1 as well. Worked flawless for quite some time. Although you might want to use SetCPU to overclock it (remember to set a screen-off profile with lower speed as well).

colsed for testing
I would like to thank the testers that responded, i hope we can provide a very fluid smooth rom for you. at this point we have enough testers. we will likely open up to one or two more people for additional testing soon.
thank you,
Team Blackout
i would be open to testing later on (cant right now due to lack of time and need my phone working). I see NRGZ28 is part of the team, im currently using his sense 3.5 rom, and (no disrespect meant for the rest of the team) but i trust him cause of the good job he has done with his other rom. So im sure that if this is not already a great rom, it will surely be.
Thanks to all the team for developing for our device, and will be glad to test as soon as i have time on my hands!

PD: any chance of you guys making a sense 4 rom for the vision?? it would be nice!
I can give it a try and see if I can break it if you still need people.

I can do the volunteers, and testing
request to test Blackout ICS
Hello,
I know you said testing was closed but if you reopen testing / have some spare slots / etc. then I'd appreciate Blackout ICS for my Desire Z. (It's S-OFF, etc. ready)
I already have Blackout ICS for my Desire HD (thanks) so I can compare functionality between models.
Also, I have written apps for Android (albeit it in Java), ported adb/fastboot to FreeBSD (which I understand to kernel level).
I have particular interest in having Orange's "Signal Boost" running on ICS, as I have on my DHD.
Please let me feel the love!
Thanks,
Dominic
since a few days I have a spare DZ I can use for all sorts of testing. So if there is still a spot open or you are reopening some spots. I would like to offer that phone up for you guys

I really would like to volunteer, too. Also im using your blackout 3.0.0 and i think this is the best sense rom I've ever used, and i would like to say the problems that I noticed.
I'm using the blackout3.0 rom approximately for one month, and these are the problems I have encountered:
*Wifi hotspot not working
*Screen rotate issues
*FM radio not working (for me)
*Hw keyboard lights not working (actually works for just half-a-second when opening)
*Too shiny menu lights
*Compass is distorted
(If I remember/notice more I will put it here)
Since I'm a SenseUI fan, I will be enjoy testing.
Thanks again for the rom.
Sorry for bad English
