[Q] Selling my Arc - Xperia Arc General

Hi Guys,
So, I have just ordered my Xperia S. Cant wait to get it, should be here next week.
I am going to sell my Arc, to help pay for the S.
What I am wondering, is what is the best way to effectively clean my phone out of all my photos etc?
I know that some times, you can recover files etc from phone and I want to protect my privacy.
Thanks, Devil.

I would install new ROM, and format SD Card. I don't think that some one will loose his time to get back deleted files.

Focus Demo Mode

I bought a focus on craigslist which I am assuming was the store demo because after a minute the demo comes up. Is there a way to get rid of this?
craigslist+demo mode= 99.9% chance of being stolen...
Sounds like you need to flash it with a genaric ROM. Check out the HTC HD7 forum and look under development. Seems a "Football" guy has cooked up a ROM for HD7. It worked great when I flashed my HD 7. Ask real nice and maybe he'll cook up a ROM for you to flash your Focus. What ever you do make sure it's the correct ROM for the phone as it may cause damage if it's for a different phone.
Either that or try to get your money back from the Criagslist seller.
shoot me the imei and ill check which att it was stolen from. Seriously though, thats the demo loop we load up to the devices. it supposed to also wipe the phone out nightly, not let you load a live ID and will not go away even with a hard reset. sorry dude, return the phone to seller and report to police.
I got one of these puppies on Ebay - same thing - stolen unit with the demo ROM. The battery was even dead from constant playing and hmm... the back cover was mysteriously missing." I want to report the guy on Ebay but I want my money back first.
ya me to,
I had something and am stuck now with a demo phone. Who else got one in Vancouver pm me and lets compare who we got from. Its hard to get cash back from craigslist people, the police don't really care so i wouldnt waste my time with them. But a good old lynching goes a long way. Back to flashing from what i understand you might be able to flashthe omnia 7 Rom just don't flash the radio. Focus and omnia 7 are identical phones and the Rom are these except the radios differ. I might try and see what happens. Not much to lose or wait till an update comes out.

Yes my battery cover was missing too. Even had screen burn in at the top that says windows phone
Sorry the device alive is not intended to be removed from the device. I installed them on our windows phones in the store and am pretty sure it stores the demo rom on a place that it can not be removed from. If you do find a way to add a new rom make sure you delete any folder that ends with windows7_samsungfocus.devicealive... Or something like that.

how did you flash the demo rom onto the device, what program you guys use for that, Also what program can we use to look at what files are stored on the phone.

Trust me... you do not want the demo phone ROM flashed on your phone. FYI the guy who commented on having it loaded works at a store that sells WP7 device and has flashed the ROM for demo purposes.
The file is from a zip file that at&t marketing distributes through our internal website.

Is it a rom or just files that are installed on the phones ram partition. If its just files that are installed somewhere then they would be able to be removed, full rom would mean it would require a flashed rom, I read on the omnia7 forum that people there have had recived phones with demo mode on and simply reflashed a new rom and that was all that was required to remove demo mode. the issue with the focus is there is no roms around to flash or the program to flash the phone, im sure the omnia7 flash tool would work on the focus.

I have the same issue with an LG Quantum, so I sent it to LG to have the stock rom put on the phone. I'm pissed that i don't have my quantum for 2 1/2 weeks, but, no demos and fully functional when I get it back!
wrong rom istalled! help!
I bought my focus on ebay but it was stuck in demo mode so I figured to boot the omnia 7 rom as I could not find anywhere a focus rom and I have no idea how to cook one! Unfortunately the phone now does not function properly, its accelerometer sensor is messed and soft buttons are not working.. does anyone know where I can find the focus rom to boot it back? pleasw I am kinda desperate here!
Thanks!

Have you tried playing with registry at all, or anything in diagnosis, from what I hear we will see the update for wp7 on the 31st on jan. I have searched high and dry for the focus rom but there is none around, when the update comes out im sure you will see the rom here shortly after. Does everything else work ok though,
What you mean by playing with registry? I am kind of new to these stuff, sry! so my only hope now is waiting for the wp7 update? and then what I have to do (if for example comes tomorrow!)?
We shall see after 7th feb..
I delete at&t DA on my phone but demo still come up.
Did any of yall bother to check out the phone before you gave the cash to the craigslist seller? Every time ive sold an electronic they play w/ it for at least 10 mins.
Seems like this guy on eBay is selling stolen phones too.....check out his feedback lol

[Q] new on android and arc, what sould i do when i get mine tomorrow

Hi everyone,
i'm kinda new on android, but decided to pre order the arc mostly because of it's sexy curve
just want to ask, what sould i do first?
some people said i should charge it for 7-8 hours and wait (hard thing to do on new "toy") it's that true?
and one more, are there stuff that i need to check so i don't end up having defected phone
Thanks all
Just dive straight in.. won't really make any difference.. all that faffing about with batteries that people used to do doesn't really apply with modern battery technology.. Make sure you set up a google account (you'll need it for Market access) and set your phone to sync contacts with Google, that way if you ever need to replace your handset, all your contacts will be safe and will automatically re-sync back to your phone..
[EDIT - Oh.. and welcome to the World of Android.. you've made a wise choice!]
"Just dive straight in.. won't really make any difference.. all that faffing about with batteries that people used to do doesn't really apply with modern battery technology."
- I totally 100% agree. I'm extremely impatient with new phones, so I always just crack straight on with it.
One thing I would add is to be patient in the first week with the battery. Whilst you don't particularly need to do anything to let it "settle", it will still need to settle in its own time, which looking at peoples responses to the amount of time theres takes before it settles is approx. 4 days, but mine has just started to settle (I got mine a week tomorrow).
I'd say if your new to both the android and arc my first recommendation would be to take a look at the pre-installed "Experience More" widget, which will get you started, and SE have also announced on their blog that they will be updating it based on user feedback and what they would like to see.
Finally, make sure you get at least the SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) installed on your main PC (unless otherwise preffered, i.e. mine is on my work pc) ready for when new firmware is available. I say at least because you can also download the PC Companion (which also comes on the phone, ready for when you plug it into the PC) which comes with some cool stuff, but I never use any of it personally.
Enjoy the Arc

[Q] Stuck between root and non root...

I recieved my Motorola Atrix about 5 days ago with hope that this would be my new baby. I love the phone but im having major problem. I got told the phone was NIB so i take it to att they do all there mumbo jumbo reset it to access my motoblur(first hint it wasnt NIB) so i do all that then i look at the phone for the first time and the font IS TINY like i can barely see tiny, so i see the superuser app and immediately know but since it got reset its stuck between root and nonroot. I have some stupid van helsing font that doesnt have characters for half the ones there supposed to so its confusing to know what im looking at. I need to know the best way to fix this ASAP or im switching back to IP4 or an HTC phone. I had hoped that moto would blow my mind but so far im not impressed especially with customer support. So if anyone could offer a solution i would greatly appreciate it.
Settings > SD & Phone storage > unmount internal phone storage > format internal phone storage.
After that flash the 1.8.3 sbf w/RSDlite (there are lots of guides here) and you should be on the latest firmware and bone stock.

Ok, the helpful bits are up top, this is my personal opinion on the matter:
So you bought a grey market phone that someone screwed up and you want to blame motorola for poor customer support? I can definitely understand why they lock the bootloader and try to prevent rooting...people like the seller and yourself.
Go back to the IP4.

Well, you're not doing some things right, that much I can tell you.
As for getting the card "back" there are several threads if you search this forum alone, for example this.
Long story short, you either need a photo camera and format it there or a newer Nokia phone (Exx or Nxx series) to format the card.

Locked out of used T560NU, need exploit

There has got to be a way around this theft-prevention. This Sammy just as well be an Apple! So, I can only sit here and look at it. I would really appreciate any help I could get. I bet I'm not the only one.
This tablet was bought used on ebay, so I have no way of knowing a google account previously synced on this device. What can I do to get in?
These go together

One of the two things, either contact the vendor through eBay in hopes for aid in getting around it or getting it off with provided info, or contact Samsung and hope they'll pull through for you somehow, though I can only imagine that Samsung would probably very likely have you ship it over to them to handle the matter, Samsung would probably send it back to you or send you back a different Tab E to make up for it
There's ways to erase the settings partition. I cannot tell you how. But be smart. FRP on Android is a joke. (Maybe in future SDK releases they will have it locked down.) But anything I've been handed with a locked FRP, I've been able to erase the partion. Then factory reset again, and reboot like new.
