Hey guys. I got a second hand Nexus S today and it came rooted, with a custom rom of ICS installed. It's called Neopolitan or something like that.
I'm wondering how I can probably keep it rooted, but go to a normal stock version of ICS on my Nexus S (So I can install updates straight to the device, etc.)
Thanks
Forgot to say this is the U.K version.
Hi,
I think this thread may help you...

Do you have a i9023 version, right?
look at post #10 on this thread...
will the GSM nexus s that works with tmobile usa run ICS or only the nexus s 4g for sprint/verizon?

Is your bootloader locked? You can see when turn phone on have you got padlock symbol? Then check what recovery you using power + volume up is it stock or clockwordmod?

There is no Nexus S 4G for Verizon. And only the GSM version has an official release for ICS. There are 3rd party ROMs for both of course. But if you want official ICS read the sticky threads in this forum.

Carrier specific ROM...
Follow the unroot/restore instructions in the wiki, and you'll be sorted!
I just got the same phone last month. Follow danger-rat's instructions then wait a few minutes after the update and it will find and download the latest upgrade from Google.
Let it charge up first though.
W00t! Root it!
Lol who wants n1 without cm7 anyway..

All Nexus phones are unlocked.
Just search the forum, there are tons of threads, that's how I could spot the issue so easily...

How about this. All Nexus devices are sim unlocked. Not all Nexus devices currently have an unlocked bootloader, but all Nexus devices can have their bootloaders unlocked easily.
Sim unlocked means that you can put a sim card from any carrier into the device and it will work (irrespective of whether or not 3G works due to carriers frequencies).
Unlockable bootloader allows you to bypass the security of the phone and replace the stock firmware/recovery with 3rd party versions that can unlock more features.

What version information do you see on this screen:
Settings > About Phone > scroll down.
Please tell us the model number, android version, baseband version, kernel version.
There are files to update to Gingerbread that don't require rooting, but it depends on your version.
Hello,
I found a Nice Sprint Nexus S on craigslist. The seller said it was on Sprint. He says is has the fast bootloader, but no Android OS. Is there a way to get the original OS back on it, or even a ROM. Considering purchase, but wanted to verify it is recoverable first. Thanks in advance.
has no android os??
thats a gamble right there sir

From what I understand it only has a bootloader. Can clockwordmod be installed on a device without an OS? That would certainly make things easier. I have recovered galaxy s phones from ODIN, but this is new territory for me.

If you can get a bootloader, you can flash everything using fastboot still. Basically you follow everything at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078213
Doesn't matter if it's locked or not, that should still work as long as you have a bootloader functioning.
Thank you very much.. One last question. Does anyone know which builds and radios are specific to the Sprint model? I want to make sure I have the right one before trying this. Thanks!

Sorry, but I have no idea what you are saying. Try using some proper grammar and, secondly, explain what is wrong. Simply saying that it ruined it isn't enough. Chances are, if you flashed from ICS, that you bricked your Note.

This should be the correct stock UK ROM to install: N7000XXLA6_N7000XEULA1_XEU

Op please confirm that your phone model is N7000. Don't get confused and flash the wrong Note Roms.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
From what I get :
1. You upgraded to ICS.
2. It was bad.
3. You tried going back to GB.
4. You flashed the wrong ROM.
5. You need your phone to work again.
First of all we need to know the model number of the phone. Is it N7000!? N7000! If it is, hold down the power button, the home key and the volume down key. Does anything happen? If yes then most likely you're in download mode.
Now you just want to download stock GB/ICS UK ROM and flash it with PC Odin. How?
Here's how:

Until dev get their hands on the LTE version you have to live with it. I'm sure the Korean Note 2 works on all bands except USA if that's what you're asking.

I thought Korea version SHV-E250s have supports different bandwidths, will it support the 3G and 4G EE in UK though~~~
you can root the E250S by flashing recovery.img found in these forums in odin
DO NOT flash boot.img that is sometimes also in the odin tar file or you will not be able to boot into android or recovery.
(although to fix simply flash the stock boot.img back)
source: I rooted mine
(32GB version, LTE)
Thread open until verified...Thank You.
Any pic to proof? I assume this will work for N7105 too... Care to explain step by step tutorial?

This will work for E250K? I suspect that it should right?
Any progress on rooting the Korean Note 2? How many people on this forum have a Korean Note 2? Mine is the E250L (LG telecom)
I have the SHV-E250L (LG U+) and I going to try to stay unrooted.
This info only applies if you are in Korea but with my last Korean Galaxy phone, I took it to the A/S center to get a broken earphone replaced, and they tapped into my phone for 20 minutes trying to prove that it was rooted so they can deny me a free replacement. I know that is just bad luck with the service staff that day. But once they verified that it wasn't rooted, they gave me new earphones. To avoid that kind of hassle because the service at least for the first year is great (free shattered screen replacements while you wait and such), I think try to keep it unrooted for as long as possible. Let's see how long I can hold out...
Most of the reasons I rooted and put roms in the past was to gain access like wifi tethering, better battery life, and better functionality, but none of those are issues with this device. Wifi tethering is enabled without restrictions out of the box and without extra charge.

Some questions about this device
Hi All,
Since this seems to be the only GN2 version available with 32gb internal storage, I am feeling a strong temptation to buy it. However, I do have some concerns I am hoping you owners can address:
1) Is the DMB antenna obvious? I looked at the Samsung Korea site, and most of the photos don't show it. Does it retract or detach in some way? I know I won't be able to use it in the US so am hoping it will be easy to forget about.
2) Does it have a FM radio receiver like the international version?
3) Is the user experience the same as the international version if English is selected as the default language?
Ideally I would like to eventually be able to flash an international rom into the device, but I know that's not possible now. Are any of the current owners expert enough to offer an educated guess as to whether it will be possible in the future?
Thanks for your help and advice.

No it`s not.
I just ordered a G2 and I was wondering, if it comes with an android version higher than 4.2.2, maybe kitkat 4.4.2, can I still root, install recoveries and roms on it???
This is very important to me, if I can't do that it would be just a freaking huge loss.
Thanks in advance.
Depends on what model number where you purchased it from and and also what country there's a good chance it will have 4.4.2 but no way to know until you get it
