1. Download official rom from here http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...d=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDE5NDQ=
2. Extract the zip file and put the DLOAD folder to the external sd card.
3. Go settings, Locations & security settings
4. Choose Install from SD card
Your phone now is like new.
P.S.
To install custom rom you will need root and clockworkmod.

Hey, today I acquired an IDEOS X5.
I have checked out a few things and wondering.
Could anyone make it clear for me within this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13083454&postcount=1
"Ensure that there are no Huawei rom updates on your SD-Card in the dload folder and unplug the phone from your computer"
Where is this dload folder?
Next thing that seems unclear...
"Connect the phone to your computer. In windows it will automatically mount one mass storage device which corresponds to the /cust_backup folder on your phone. If your OS supports EXT3 it will mount multiple devices, look for the one with an images directory and this is the device to use."
Will I get a drive called /cust_backup or something?
Next sup, my phone is using B133, bought it from Teknikmagasinet.se. I noticed the sound isn't the best and camera has strange colors at time by time, plus when I call my voice sound disorted. Recoding sound doesn't sound bad.
So I wanted to try out this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059753
The thing is how do I install and will it damage anything if done correctly?
By seeing the installation guide I am guessing you would have to take the update option, not the install from zip option. Will it be a conflict with my swedish rom as it uses swedish and such things.
I really hope anyone would kindly help me !
Thanks in advance !
You wont have a "dload" folder on your sd-card unless you actually put one there.
Before flashing anything, visit this page and grab a copy of the correct rom so you have a backup of the original - in your case I believe it to be the sweden expert rom (has the swedish in it). http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800
Then put that on your SD-card in a folder called "original rom".
If things go pear shaped during flashing an alternate rom, just rename the folder to "dload" and you can then go into bootloader (both volume keys and power) and it will flash back to original, as if you had just taken the phone out of the box.
To get started first download the above rom and put it on your sd card as i stated.
Then download this recovery replacement: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067490
Next, making sure you have no dload folder on the sd card (keep the backup as "original rom", put the phone into bootloader mode (purple screen).
connect it to the computer, and the cust_backup drive will show up. Rename the recovery image in that drive to recovery.bak, and copy the image recovery image downloaded to the drive. Now you have CWM installed.
From here you can try the BM160 rom by copying it and a bootloader to your sd card and using "install zip from sdcard" in clockwork recovery.
To get to clockwork recovery, turn the phone off, and press power + up volume.
hope this helps.

Glad to see someone giving their time to respond
I used Unrevoked to root and reflash my FROYO and it was fine for about a year. Then the USB port started giving me problems and it became impossible to charge my phone. Sprint gave me a new Evo 4g with Gingerbread. I was able to use Revolutionary to get S-off but have had no success getting the superuser zip on my SD Card. I tried extracting it to my f: drive (not in any of folders) but when I boot to recovery and try to update from my sd card nothing happens. No Superuser!!
The only files or directories I can see on the sd card are these (Over the past few days I've seen other files on the SD card after doing factory resets/erase sd card but still couldn't find Superuser):
-Android >>>data
-Lost.Dir
-META-INF >>>com
-media >>>audio
-rosie_scroll
-rssreader >>>predawn
-system >>>app
>>>bin
Should superuser be in these files?
I suspect that the sd card might be the problem because this is the same card I had on my previous FROYO phone which I rooted. Is it possible that the
Here, go to this link on your phone.

Download that zip with the default browser application or opera. Then, make sure that the zip is in the default download folder named "download". Boot into recovery and flash the zip file located under the "download" folder. There is no need to extract the zip file at all.
So here is my situation...
I would like one flash one of the new ICS roms and have run into an annoying problem.
I created a directory on the SD card called "Root", and downloaded the rom and placed it in the directory. I then rebooted into Recovery and after selecting update from zip on SD card, the file can't be located.
The only file in the Root directory is the first ROM I flashed and gaaps.
I can't seem to locate those files from Es file manager though.. Thoughts??

From recovery your sd card is called SD CARD.
from within say file manager your sd card will be in mnt/external_sdcard.
Some sd cards has a issue being read by cwm recovery. Often formatting the card in a Android phone or with sd format app. if k downloaded the rom file from within windows . In android file manager long tap on the file and click properties . check to see if the file is names xxxx.zip.zip
if you have stock recovery . the file must be on the root of the external sd card NOT in a folder at all. But your message makes me think you have cwm installed . if you are sure none of the above is the issue. Try re download the rom of your choice and try again.
Good Luck

Erica is right. When you copy your file to EXT SD Card, you should copy it straight to the card. NOT put it in some folder. This will make it easy for your Recovery to find.
This is the basic method. Depending on which recovery you use (RA or CWM) there are other locations you can use as well (USB Drive, Internal memory) but best to get familiar with the basic method first.
This worked for me... Thanks.

If you just want to move it to internal storage, then do that^. If you want to make it a system app, then place the .apk in /system/app using a root explorer, fix permissions in CWM and reboot.
Thank you so much for your help. I downloaded 'Apps 2 sd free', and it did the job.
Is there a way to modify the 1.4.3 software update to make it allow sideloaded apps. Maybe editing downloadadmin.apk will do it? I'm not a developer so please keep the solution simple.

You can sideload to the stock firmware. The steps that you take all depend on what you plan on ultimately doing with the device.
If you plan on only occasionally installing an app, you can make a bootable recovery image, and use an update script to install the apps for you. You will have to install a launcher app, or the attached Nook Color App Manager app, so that you can access the apps that you install. The Nook Color App Manager app will allow you to access the installed apps from the factory app list.
Download the attached manualsideloader-1.06.10.basic.zip file.
Also download the attached nook.color.app.manager.apk if you want to use the stock app launcher to launch you installed apps.
Open the manualsideloader-1.06.10.basic.zip file, and place whatever_app.apk file into the /data/app folder
Download the bootable ClockWorkMod version 3.2.0.1 file: http://tinyw.in/0Vw -If using windows, use Win32DiskImager to flash this image to your SD card. Make sure that flash you flash the file to your SD card using a card reader, not while the card is inserted into your device.https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+download
Place the modified manualsideloader-1.06.10.basic.zip file onto the SD card that you just made.
Turn off your Nook Color (If it is turned on).
Insert the bootable SD card into your Nook Color
Turn on your Nook Color
When ClockWorkMod boots Select:
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard
select manualsideloader-1.06.10.basic.zip
confirm that you really want to run the update
Wait patiently and follow onscreen directions
remove bootable CWM SD card from the Nook Color and select reboot
The apps should now be installed on your device
If you plan on installing apps often, then you can use a bootable recovery image, and an update script to enable ADB. You can then just hook the NC to the computer and adb install whatever.apk that you want. You will have to install a launcher app, or the attached Nook Color App Manager app, so that you can access the apps that you install. The Nook Color App Manager app will allow you to access the installed apps from the factory app list.
Download the attached manualsideloader-1.06.10.adb.zip.
Also download the attached nook.color.app.manager.apk if you want to use the stock app launcher to launch you installed apps.

remove bootable CWM SD card from the Nook Color and select reboot
The apps should now be installed on your device, and you can now install future apps by hooking your device to your computer and adb install whatever.apk non system app you want in the future.
For anything beyond these basic functions, you will need to root the device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494901
Re: Re: Modufy Software Update to Allow Sideloaded Apps
I'm talking about editing the zip file that the stock firmware comes in. I want to make the Nook boot to stock and everything be the same as a regular stock Nook, except have the ability to load non-nook-shop apps.

If you remove the ramdisk boot file from the adb version, and add it to the software update along with the Nook Color App Manger app, you will almost have what you are looking for. The Nook Color App Manager app sits in the stock factory app menu, and you just press it to access a list of your sideloaded apps. You can also access your sideloaded apps by opening the factory app tab, press/hold the volume up button, and the tap the library symbol to view all sideloaded apps.
If you did want to bypass using Nook Color App Manager, you would need to rewrite some of the factory firmware. I currently don’t have any of my paperwork with me, so I can’t remember what firmware file to start with.
You know that once you make changes to the software update zip, that the system will not update with it, and you will have to use a custom recovery image to flash the zip file?
Could you tell me what your end goal is with this? What is with the apprehensiveness toward using a bootable recovery image to flash a package, or just rooting the device?
I was just wondering... oh well. I really do not want to root it. I didn't really care about it that much anyway.

It doesn't sound like this is really rooting, just changing a few things to help get the right apps running. Would this method work on the HD?
