[Q] Always boots into recovery? - Droid X General

Not sure why this is happening, but whenever I plug my Droid X into a usb cable that's plugged into a computer, it automatically reboots it into the recovery menu. Even if it was turned off before, it will turn on into recovery. Any ideas why?
My rooted play never does this. Only goes to recovery when I tell it to.

It's supposed to. It's a kind of failsafe that is installed with the recovery.

That's kind of annoying lol.

Don't know why my phone is doing this

I replaced some images in framework-res.apk and pushed it to my phone using adb like I have a million times before but when I reboot it hangs on the boot screen for a long time then all of a sudden turns black and the screen wont come on. I can't even boot into recovery. I can plug it into my computer, type adb devices and it shows that it's connected. I've tried doing a battery pull and even switching batteries. I have no idea why it's doing this. Can anybody help?
Well I got into recovery. Still don't know why it was doing that though
Mine did that same thing once when I flashed bubby323's vanilla lockscreen mod when I had voodoo lagfix enabled... I could still get to recovery but I had to nandroid and change kernels completely before it would boot... have no idea why it happened though... I've kinda blamed voodoo for it personally xP

Weird. Oh well

Booting into Revocery

Ok so I just got my Nexus 7 unlocked and rooted no problem, I have done this on a few Galaxy Nexus phone without issue.
Now here is the strange part, if I adb into bootloader then select boot into recovery it works (CWM Touch) however if I manually go into the bootloader, hold volume keys and select reboot into recover it will just hang at the google screen.
I can get out of that bu holding power until the deivce reboots back to the OS.
I can do this as much as I want, from using adb into bootloader and get into recovery, but not manually. What can i try?
I have already tried flashing stock recovery, and other CWM non touch and all act the same way, what am I missing?
I had the same issue completely stock. No idea what causes it, and I've still not fixed it either.
Good to know I am not alone.
same here! even with 6.0.1.0

I rooted a week ago and this problem drove me nuts. I was paranoid enuff not to wanna flash anything. Within the last few days it was found that you can do the 3 button thing, get into the bootloader and select recovery ONLY if the N7 is plugged into something with a powered usb port. It seems any computer will work, and I read where one guy tried assorted ports like tvs, direct tv box, xbox, etc. These also allowed the buttons to activate bootloader & select recovery. There must be something within the port which requires power in order to get past that Google screen? It doesn't matter whether your on cwm 6.0+ or TWRP. It seems to be a hardware issue as far as I know at this point.
I read where a guy said that during a bootloop, hold power + volume down and wait, sometimes as long as 50 seconds. Eventually it has always worked for him. I've had one bootloop and didn't try that method. I just connected usb cable to the laptop, held the buttons and was in. That is a summary of what I know as of now.

I can confirm that it only works if you have USB plugged in.
Anyone able to get past the red triangle? It seems to just hang there for me
Its a bug with the early CWM Official Port i think, try TWRP Recovery
The only way I was able to get into CWM was to use ROM Toolbox or ROM Manager to boot into recovery. :\ Hangs for me while holding down volume and power.

[Q] N4 cut off, only "download mode" then nothing

I flashed PA, GAPPS and then DER kernel; wiped cache and dalvik and rebooted. It booted fine and I restored all my settings. I ran a benchmark and in the middle of it, it cut off and wouldn't turn back on. I plugged it in to the stock charger and I got the charging indicator. Then after playing with the volume and power buttons I got it into download mode. I then moved to the computer to use the toolkit and reflash the stock rom and when I plugged it into the computer the charging indicator would not come on, went back to the stock charger and now the charging indicator wont come on. Now it won't do anything, no download mode, no bootloader, nothing.
Any suggestions?
I found one other thread where someone had the same problem and he ended up just RMA'ing.
TYIA
Leave it charging undisturbed for the night, try again tomorrow. It'll boot up again most likely.
Careful with the benchmarking. Which I'm sure you don't need advise for anymore I bet..
Let it sit over night on the charger, still nothing.

When you plug in the phone do you get the red notification light? Have you tried letting the phone charge for several hours while off or opening the phone and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery?

You need to get out of download mode. Honestly I mash force rebooting the N4 and plug it in and out of the charge until something works, and every time without fail it works lol

When in download mode press the down and up volume rocker and power button. Try this for some time and it must reboot into bootloader(android with open chest).
(try it when connected to computer too)
If you get it to bootloader you can restore it!!
1. Flash factory image . all info here detailed :::http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
2. If u cant do it yourself download mskip's toolkit and install drivers. Select option to restore to factory image and it must get you back to stock rom unrooted with only bootloader unlocked.

[Q] Possibly bricked my Razr M...

Here's the story:
I rooted my phone, but unrooted using SU after uninstalling system apps and doing some other things. I used Safestrap to form a recovery, but uninstalled it since. Just recently, I rebooted my phone and saw the Safestrap screen at startup, which has happened since I uninstalled it. Not thinking, I tried to boot into its recovery mode, and my phone went black. I cannot turn on the device using any method, and it shows no signs of life. It will not charge and does not register as a USB device on my computer. Does anybody have a solution to this?

try a soft reset (power + volume down for 5-10 seconds)....
to get to recovery, try power + volume up + volume down
then use matt's utility to recover
Do you Remember how low your battery was when all this happened?
If you can get into ap fastboot mode and your battery is charged up enough use matts utility

nexus player bricked

hi all,
i had the nexus player with me and installed cm12.1, everything was working fine, i had it at the hotel i was staying at. no issues whatsoever. but after i unplugged it and brought it back home, i plugged it back in and it just bootloops on the google logo. the bootloader is unlocked.
i tried pressing the reset button while powering it on, but no luck, the leds dont flash quickly to enter fastboot.
ive tried also keeping the reset button pressed again while powering it on, and eventually the led will blink slowly. i then let go, but then it just brings up the google logo again and will bootloop. tried plugging it into the pc while doing this as well, but adb doesnt detect it either.
pretty cant get into fastboot mode or even the recovery mode. any hints or tips i should try? i dont want it to be dead after just 4 months of usage.
Lol I did the exact same thing in pretty good at getting out of a brick but the nexus player is pretty low on my list its actually been like this for about two months now and I haven't touched it
While the LED is blinking slowly have you checked to see if the device is enumerating over USB at all. I believe slow flash indicates recovery mode. Do you ever see Andy with an exclamation mark?

well I was able to get it back up and running by plugging it into my pc and messing with the drivers a little bit, then I used fastboot to flash the stock firmware again and now im putting a custom recovery back on it, all in all its pretty easy to fix so its definitely not dead for good. Sorry im not great with tutorials
howd you end up recovering. i want to get it back up and running. perhaps i can try another pc.
when the led flashes slowly, i have the hdmi cable plugged in, but it just bootloops, never gets to to the android recovery mode. first time ive had a bricked android device.

Boot into the bootloader by unplugging the nexus player and then hold the button on the bottom and plug it in. Let the button go when you see the google logo. Then just use fastboot to flash the stock firmware.
