[Q] Clockwork 3.0.0.6

I am trying to get the Clockwork 3.0.0.6 update so that i can flash RoyalGinger, but it doesn't seem to be working. I follow each and every step on true_blue's guide, but it stays on Clockwork 3.0.0.5. Can anyone walk me through how to get clockwork 3.0.0.6 please? I really want to try out the Royal ROMs. I am currently on iced glacier 1.1.6.

it will say that it is 3.0.0.5 in rom manager, but as soon as you boot into recovery it should say 3.0.0.6
Are you looking at the list of recoveries at the bottom of Rom Manager? It will still say 3.0.0.5. Check that option then reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery. Does it say v3.0.0.5 or .6?

Not trying to hijack, but with 3.0.0.6 you can flash back and forth between froyo and ginger right from the recovery screen correct?

ye sir, that is correct
Alright, I'm a noob, but I will try to help. After you installed the zip you opened rom manager, scrolled all the way down to All Clockwork Mod recoveries, and reflashed 3.0.0.5 correct? I actually just flashed this about an hour ago and it worked fine.

try selecting one of the other recoveries and then go back to the 3.0.0.5 and then boot into recovery... idk why it isnt working for you as this is tried and true
or you can try one of the methods in this thread

and you downloaded the new flashable file from the thread right? I had one in my downloads on my pc that I tried to flash today but it didn't work because CWM was updated, so I had to download true's latest. it was just updated two days ago.

You have to do it through a terminal emulator. Instructions in the link below:

Rom manager only works so much and does more harm then good

I don't know if I agree with that statement. ROM Manager has a lot of great features and a lot of utility, but flashing one Recovery over another is something it's not doing successfully right now.
ROM Manager has only one GREAT feature; Fixing permissions. Everything else is suspect to creating problems. Flashing recoveries should be done in Hboot, the right way, not short-cutting via some semi-useless apk.

Have faced this problem quite a few times. Usually when ROM manager comes packaged with the rom I just flashed or when I am playing with the apps2sd commands. Reinstalling RM did it for me every time.

Very opinionated statement based on hear say. Totally disagree.
Reinstalling rm multiple times didn't help me either.I guess gonna have to use Amon RA from here on now on. I used rom manager for all my flashing didn't have single problem until I flashed Amon RA

Of course not. RM revolves around CWM. Which is inferior to AR, btw....

ROM Manager has issues flashing one recovery over another. Hence the need to use a terminal emulator as the instructions I linked explain.

Go to
http://www.mediafire.com/?5otzpnt2ld1lmdo
to download the PC36IMG file for clockworkmod. Change the file name to PC36IMG and put on the root of your SDcard. Boot into the bootloader and accept the update. See if that works for you.

That's kind've odd, because it always restores mine 100%
But then, I have TB and keep current backups of every app w/ Data so I can restore them at will.

Glad that I could help you restore your clockwork, although I prefer using Amon Ra myself. I came across more issues using clockwork, especially when using Rom Manager.

[Q] I did a baaad thing with clockwork recovery.

I installed a custom ROM that came with the rom manager app. Being curious, i clicked it. Something happened, and I booted into recovery. Previously I have had Amon Ra recovery, and now I have clockwork. WHAT HAVE I DONE??? Is this bad, or should I just go with this new recovery. Thanks in advance.

All you did was install clock work, personally I prefer AmonRa on G1, since it has the sd partition setting. CWR is newer so you might as well use it, when you get a newer phone I recommend 4EXT recovery.
Thanks for the fast reply. So I should probably just put AmonRa though fastboot?

That will work but both recoveries do the same basic things. No real advantages, unless you need the Amon_Ra specific features; don't forget CWR has some newer features since Amon isn't updated anymore.

How do I make a nandroid in CWM when trying new roms?

I have my original OS backed up via the 1 click root method.
I have tried [ROM] Jr6 (JRO03D / 4.1.1): MCR - new: button mods, YouTube with preloading! by Paulobrien.
Tonight I flashed [ROM]| Glazed JellyBean|Version 1.1.2|Glazed Mods|Custom Animations|Speed| by Hyperrunner.
Now, I boot back into recovery and select the backup option, and when it is done, the file is only 20 megs in size, which does not seem right.
So can someone help or point me to a tutorial on how to back up my current rom Nandroid style so I can try out other ones and Nandroid back to ones I end up liking?
Thank you,
Whiteice

So I am at a loss understanding this. Maybe you or someone else can help me.
The first rom I mentioned in my OP says it needed CWM to install. Now I see other rom's that say TWRP recovery to install.
I have no idea on which route to go with doing all these.
Can anyone help me out here in better understanding on what I need to do here?
If I need to install TWRP, what do I need to do now since I have CWM installed to install TWRP?
Thank you,
Whiteice

cwm is buggy and twrp is more funtional, and works perfectly. cwm is just a popularity contest in all of android, but its not the best product.

Can't restore from CWM Recovery

I have rooted and installed CWM Recovery on my i9505 with 4.3 official firmware but I can't seem to recover my backups from CWM. It seems to complete the recovery task but at the end, it shows like i've only flashed a new rom and the root and CWM gone. Any solutions?
Thanx.
