hi this is my first post so please be gentle.
right looking around the net i stumbeled across this http://bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/iplayer.wgz its basically the Nokia Installer for the Iplayer and ive managed to extract the files from it as it just a renamed .zip file. the file contains Java which could be modified to run on a windows device I think? i thought i would post my findings and im sorry if this has been posted before, i did a quick search and the forum and couldnt find this.
I like the idea if we could modify this and make a panel out of the iPlayer

Doesn't beebHack only allow you to download the content thats meant for the iPhone (H264 encoded)? There are no streaming options yet but you can download anything on a PC and then watch on your X1.
If you can navigate through the various XML files you should be able to find the N96 stream, however I can't even get the first file to open anymore.
Another possible option would be to change the UserAgent of Opera to the one of the Wii and then view the Flash 9 stream.
The only problem I have is that I can't even get YouTube to work in Opera (black/green bars) so I can't test it.
Success! (sort off).
I managed to trick the iPlayer into thinking I'm a Nintendo Wii
useragent: Opera/9.10 (Nintendo Wii; U; ; 1621; en)
however the flash file never played, just the spining bit in the middle.
However I worked my way through the XML files and have pulled out the N96 wifi stream for last nights Buzzcocks.
You should be able to run it in Streaming Media
rtsp://3gp-acl.bbc.co.uk:554/3gpclip/iPlayer/wifi_5273445027664925946.3gp
(note this link will stop working on the 4th Dec).
If I get a chance over the weekend, I might build a webpage which will auto link to the Real stream.
thats a pretty neat idea...

Solved And Working
SOLVED AND WORKING
After spending all morning working on a script to strip out the list of shows and creating a nice gui, I discovered the really really easy way whilst scanning some javascript code.
The iPlayer uses a UserAgent lookup to work out which version to display. eg iPhone, N96 or bugger off, however they have now added support for the Samsung I900.
All you need to do is place this into your UserAgent in Opera.
Code:
sgh-i900
These are the steps for an X1i Vodafone UK Branded
Run Opera
In the address bar enter opera:config (no http://)
Scroll down to User Prefs and click
Scroll down to Customer User-Agent and at the end of the pre-filled text add sgh-i900
Scroll down some more and press Save. You will get a prompt which suggests you may need to reset the phone, but for this you don't.
Now point your browser to http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/ and enjoy.
The quality isn't exactly great on a WVGA screen as it's been built for the Nokia N96. According to beebhack these are the specs
Access Method: RTSP streaming
Video Codec: H.264
Video Resolution: 320 x 176
Video Bitrate: 128 kbps
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio Bitrate: 64 kbps
Overall Bitrate: 192 kbps
ps if you get a BBC 502 error, don't worry. Looks like they are playing about with the site themselves. Just try again later.

wow thankyou I can confirm it works flawessly! I agree the quality isnt that great but I find the flash type resolution bearable. However I just opened a couple episodes of top gear and they open in the streaming media program (is this right?). also i noticed that a lot of frames are being skipped which pretty much makes it impossible to watch, as every other sentance is cut out im guessing about 20 frames dropped every two seconds. anyone else seeing this?
Yup it runs in the HTC streamed app. The quality isn't great, but hopefully the BBC will play about a bit more with the codecs.
Nice. But surely it's the iPhone stream we want access to?
all i get when i go to that site is please switch to wifi??

That's because the Beeb don't want you complaining when your network bill you at £2/mb for watching Top Gear.
Have noticed that it's working fine with my Vodafone R2A rom over wifi and i've made no changes to opera:config or the registry
Ok guys i need some help with this. I don't get what i have to do. Do i have to do something with that file .wgz on the first page? When i enter the settings in the opera:config and then point it to bcc i get the "phone not supported message"????????????????????
Nope, there is no need for any files to be downloaded.
The iPlayer is now using php and User-Agent lookups.
Visit www.whatsmyuseragent.com (on the X1) and report back with what it says yours is.
Um...the user agent is "sgh-i900". I typed it again and it works now but when i get to the page and i click on a video i get:
1 - "Sorry, this programme is currently unavailable to stream"
or
2 - The streaming media app opens and says connecting. After a couple of minutes it says "unable to connect".

Hi guys!
I have recently tried getting TCPMP to work on TP2. Without any luck.
Firstly there seemed to be a problem with it running on WinMo 6.1. That has however been fixed in a thead somewhere here on xda dev.
I have tried all three of these fixes, and while they managed to get TCPMP open after install (Not get the crash.txt msg), it caused the TP2 to crash when opening a video file (even when trying to run the video that comes with the phone (my documents -> movies)).
Anyone know of any other solutions? because i have been searching but havent found anything to get this working.
Cheers!
same problem to me, I can't even play the video recorded with my TP2. It just hang.
its special TCPMP thats, working here. I have this functional, if you want to post it, just let mi know.
JF
Make it so, please.
Why don't you use Coreplayer for playing movie clips?
I'm having not issues playing most types of movie file... Great player!
Probably because Coreplayer is not freeware.
TCPMP is the predecessor of Coreplayer
its here: http://www.digitwins.com/download/TCPMP-0.72RC1.zip
JF
No luck yet
Thanks for the link, but is this version working on yours? At least I was able to open a video file (mp4) without my TP2 crashing like it did with other recomps I've tried, but the image is all messed up with green lines and **** all over the place...
Sorry, Im not using TCPMP for viewing pics. Didnt noticed that. And Im not gonna use it fot it ;-)
JF
Hi there... i'm having problems to get work on tp2 a player that supports subtitles. Do you know anyone? Thank you very much.
Regards.
Coreplayer dont use in touch pro 2
Coreplayer dont use with processor touch pro 2. In the web of Coreplayer it ist possible reed.
Thank you and sorry for me english
I just use this app now works like a charm.
http://divx-player-mobile.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
It is not possible for me :
- Core player can't start, I don't see the app after pressing the icon
- TCPMP-0.72RC1 open, but the videos are not working, it crashes
Is it a problem of 3D driver or somethong like that?
Well I too am using Coreplayer and it works just fine. v1.3.2 build 6909 for ARM. Plays VGA .avi files perectly...
Had the same problem with TCPMP crashing until I unchecked "DirectDraw" in Video Settings (i.e. use GDI or Raw Frame Buffer).
twana, that is brilliant, I'd given up on TCMP having tried every version I could find.
Did you find out how to fix the blacked-out buttons in the toolbar?
Black buttons are caused by the theme you're using. And yes even HTC standard theme is causing this
Hello!
Thank you Twana, TCPMP works fine for me when I put "GDI" in the video settings!
It is great.

Now my babies can watch toons on my rhodium!

coreplayer/tcpmp
Selecting gdi/rawframe buffer in video settings is a must. Also check tools -> preferences -> file associations if you want them to play aac mp4 etc it must be checked there.
As we know galaxys in known for its video playback, but after froyo 2.2 update avi files don't play smoothly.. Other files such as mkv, mp4 are playing as before..don't know what the problem is..can any one help..!!
What format AVI files would be the first question to ask .
jje
AVI used to work.
Actually the AVI files where working smoothly b4 the froyo update..So does this make any sense..?
Just yesterday I watched a .avi movie on my SGS (Froyo, SpeedMod, lagxif) using Mvideo Player.
Except for a few hickups here and there, worked like a charm, as good as on clean Eclair using Rock Player (the same movie).
Other than playing . Recording has an issue . On 720p there is a slight difference òf audio and video synchronisation .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
@JJEgan , i installed Rock Player and when i go for "hardware decoding mode", Rock Player too has the same avi issue, but if i go for "software decoding mode" everything is working fine..

@Darktori gud 2 hear that..but don't u feel that something is fuzzy by what i was telling in prev post about that "hardware decoding mode" thing in rock player..
Well it is a bit strange, but do remember, that movie files can be very different. One car run smoot, and another cal lag like hell.
Did you test on the same file?

ya i did that..actually i did play the same file when i was in eclair, then played after froyo update..
experience
------------
eclair default player - smooth
froyo default player - hickup
froyo rplayer hardware acceleration - hickup
froyo rplayer software acceleration - smooth
I'm playing avi's weekly, .. already played about 10 movies smoothly from my old jpk froyo rom
won't dare upgrading this version since there are no true problems here, ..
@compuse ya better u stick with that..lets find a solution 4 these weird problems..
another one i can notice is in CONTACTS, the alphabets in rightside for quick access has some alphabets missing..haha.. i cant imagine how they r missing these things..
eg :
A
.
C
.
F
Are you using a special kernel?
If you're using a "bigmem" kernel I get the slow downs etc with video playback hardware acceleration occasionally.
Revert to a stock kernel to avoid that. Probably they should give back a little more memory for decoding video.
@ bilboa1 mine is stock kernel..and if what u say is the reason, then it should giv me same issue when playing mkv or mp4 files too..isn't it..?
Seems to me there's some sort of buffering problem. Could be settings of whatever froyo kernel you are using. Also don't forget about hdd fragmentation of file.
Software decoding might be working as its buffering with its own scheme while hardware is using hard written settings in hardware or kernel. Thats my guess

@ ickyboo u have any idea what i should change, for ur information i have rooted and lagfixed the phone..is this issue in any way related to the lagfix..

If you have root, download SGS Tools (search for 'sgstools' in market), from there you can "upgrade stock apps" and update your contacts apk
(and while you're there, you can change your default homescreen to anyone you like, very usefull)

Topic moved to general, as there is no development going on in the thread.
Hey guys , try this video player it's an absolute beast for VFP6 Arm processors . You know how limited P500 is with videos , can only run up to 640X360 and certain dimensions : max 1gb or something like that.
Well with moboplayer I've been runing 720X400 , or even higher with no probs . Thing is , above this resolution you should try to oc the cpu . Moboplayer makes great use of cpu speed unlike other players .
I could refer to this player as the Swiss army knife of video playback considering it also plays some formats of videos with audio files that fail on other players like default vplayer and Mvideoplayer
Unfortunately it does not play Mkv well yet and prolly the only rez P500 might go with a oc'ed 800 cpu is 480p. But as the devs of Mobo said they will be fixing mkv soon .
http://www.moboplayer.com/moboplayer_en.html
Just download the V6 VFP , that's the correct version for our phone .
Cheers and I hope this suggestion has helped many people in dire need of better video playback
I'll download this when I'm in need of it. Thanks! By the way, I remember your video playback problem thread. Glad you found a solution
the best video player so far for Optimus One!
Aye indeed it seems so freexander . I wanted to test yesterday Vplayer but it did not even finish the install . It might be arm V7 only with neon .
I can hardly wait to see if the mobo devs will continue the awesome support VFP 6 and give proper mkv support ;P. It would be awesome if I could at least run videos up to 480p
Working great,..better than QQplayer.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
plays video files that other players shows error.
thanks
does dis plays mkv files?
Hmmmm , not yet . At least I tried a 480p video of about 150mb and it did not work properly . But moboplayer devs said they will adress mkv problems in next version .
Nice! I like how it can change aspect ratio.
tried it, manage to play most of the video files
New patch : 1.0.120
It does not bring the proper mkv support but we can hope
Changelog :

Hmmm tempted! Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm gonna try that 1 if it's better than the mVideoPlayer i'll defenetly swap to it! BTW for MKV i think, not sure, but i think mVideoPlayer plays them! idk how well or not so well tho :x
i ilke it....
I have a 10 inch android pad and have the VFP version. Does anyone know how to make it play full screen? Thanks.
When I play a video from megavideo app, and I choose MoboPlayer, it plays one or two second and then closes. The video doesnt play, why?
Prety much best app for videos....it played a 720p mkv file at 10-15 fps almost same to rockplayer....
So what program do people use to convert their movies to something Moboplayer uses. I tried using Handbrake and Moboplayer said it had to use "soft conversion" and the movie then kind of stuttered. I could just be using the wrong settings with Handbrake, or should I be using something else?
