What ever you do, DON'T use ROM Manager to install CWM recovery.
-Now use RecoveryInstaller to install CWM recovery.
-If you want to save data use Titanium Backup or similar app
-Download the ROM file you want to use and put it on the micro sd card
-Boot into CWM recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache
- Choose "Install from zip file"
- "Choose zip file from sd card"
- Select the zip of the ROM file
- Choose Yes to install your ROM file
-After the flashing process is done, Reboot
-Enjoy

Flash cwm recovery again from fastboot.
Download the right stock rom for your device from here.
Go mounts&storage, format everything there.
Go back and choose wipe > wipe dalvik cache.
Copy the rom to your sdcard via mounts&storage > mount usb storage, make sure that /mount sdcard is active (also in mounts&storage). Unmount.
Install zip from sdcard, choose the rom you just copied.
Restart, done.

You have to install CWM recovery to flash GingerDX. Then you have to reboot to CWM and choose Install update ZIP from sd card, find GDX zip file and select it to flash it.

how can i install CWM please sir guide me step by step i will be so thankful to u!
Use this to install CWM recovery and copy custom ROM zip file to sd card. After that reboot your phone and tap screen several times until it goes to CWM. Then go to Install update zip from sd card and find it. Press on it, it will ask you to confirm your choice and after flashing ROM do full wipe. Of course make NAND backup before.
my rom was xginv5.0 before now i sucessfully installed gingerdxv10 it gives me CWM then i try to install gingerdxv19 and its sucess to installed but my problem is from xgin5.0 to gingerdxv10 up to gingerdxv19 the interface of my phone doesnt change just the startup only change what is wrong?

Hi,
my A500 has got the stock ICS. I've also managed to root it. Only the stock recovery is still installed. I have no idea how I can install the ClockworkMod there. Or may I naively install ClockworkModRecovery via the Acer Recovery installer? -> Maybe someone can answer that.
My main concern is something else. In the stock ICS image the AcerRing is missing. But the custom image FLEXREAPER has this on board and also offers a variety of ZIPs for customisation the Acer ring (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181).
Can I use the stock recovery to install the AcerRing? E.G. I rename the FLEXREAPER-R5-STOCK-RING.zip file to "update.zip" and copy it into the root directory of my SD card? Then simply using keys (which were the keys? Power+"Vol-"?) and boot into stock recovery mode and then the system installs the AcerRing automatically?
Thank you for your answers.
Install CWM via Acer Recovery Installer program.
Put ROM of choice on external SD
Boot into recovery via Power+Volume (closest to power button). This will put you into CWM Recovery
Goto Wipe menu and wipe data, cache and Dalvik cache
After wipes, choose "install from zip"
Install zip from external sd
Navigate to rom.zip
Install rom
Reboot and enjoy.

I don't think it is enough to flash a mod. A mod just changes colours and styles etc.
You need to install complete Flexreaper Rom to get it work.

AcerRecoveryInstaller warns me, that I have a not supported rom installed. It's the stock rom. Can I ignore this warning and install CWM Recovery?
I want to let this stock rom installed. I just want to install or uninstall system apps etc. or rather as I mentioned above to install the AcerRing.

The zip contains the AcerRing.apk and some META-INF directory. So I think it isnot only a mod of this app. I try to install the extracted apk but it was not successful.

Ok, I think you are right. The zip also contains update-scripts with paths-strings to Flexreaper paths etc. :-(
Just flash flexreaper. Its awesome. I personally don't use the ring though. But the mods are nice
Thank you all for your answers

Before wiping data in CWM
Go to mounts and storage>check if "unmount system" is there. If its "mount system" select it and press the centre key which wil turn it to "unmount system".
Also wipe data and cache in stock recovery before going to CWM recovery.

I have the same problem and I followed the instructions on page 1 of the Jellyblast ROM exactly, also this one. After that I tried different ways with different CWM, choose an older version of the rom, reinstall Kuro Kernel after flashing Rom, delete second partition (ext2)... But I always get the bootloop.
Edit:
Solved: I made a stupid mistake. I chose on the download page the Update 5, because i thought it's the full ROM with update 5. Because of the green colour of the ROM download link, i didn't recognize that it's a link.
Hi,
I have e400 rooted and cwm recovery installed.
I downloaded the rom in zip format.
Upon opening the zip i found a file named "boot.img"
Now i guess this boot.img file is kernel.
Can someone please tell me how can i install this kernel ?
I would really appreciate if someone gave step by step instructions to install custom rom.

You don't have to exctract the zip...you just need to wipe data,cache,dalvik-cache,and the flash the .zip of the rom...

You boot into cwm then wipe date factory reset and wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache then install the ROM(zip form) then reboot system.
