tl;dr: Can't get mobile data to work, going back to CM7.
Here's my experience with ICS on an I9020A. I wanted to move up from CM7 which worked fine but was feeling stale.
I9020A on Rogers. Baseband was originall AUCKDK1.
I flashed the 2/26 CM9 nightly and the 2012-02-15 GApps. I had a number of issues:
1. Market 3.4.4 didn't work: when I clicked on a specific app it would FC. I ended up having to go back to GApps 2011-11-25 which would let me 'Uninstall Updates' to get back to Market 3.0.2 which worked fine.
2. Wallet FC'd constantly and ran down the battery until I froze it with TiB.
3. Very laggy. The UI is *very* slow compared to CM7.
I could have lived with these issues though in the name of ICS, but my big problem was that I never got mobile data to work.
The carrier signal bars icon sometimes seemed accurate but other times seemed to just mirror the WiFi icon.
I could connect to the carrier network (e.g. System Settings > About > Status would show 'connected') and *#*#INFO#*#* would show that I had an IP address and that everything looked good ('connection type' would fluctuate between HSDPA:9 and UMTS:3 which I think is normal). 'PPP Sent' would show that a bunch of packets had been sent, but 'PPP Received' always showed 0.
I flashed almost all of the radios in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884, to no effect.
I also flashed build 27 of AOKP and tried a bunch of radios but saw exactly the same behaviour, i.e. seemingly able to connect but never actually receiving any data.
I'm now back on CM7 and things are working fine. Bummer.
Check your apn. You need to setup correct apn for your data to work.

I've never had this happen before, I can't get my phone to connect to Google services. Some Google apps are still working and sync is working. The only app I ran across that doesn't seem to work is Talk. It also seems my data is slow to respond to me accessing something on the internet, it will just sit at the 3G signal and do nothing for a while.
When I first flash everything runs great until I reboot then the connection issue starts. Anyone got any ideas?
Running AOKP nightlies, and I've tried several different versions.
Latest Faux kernel.

I always used to have issues with GTalk when restoring from TB after flashing a new ROM. I suggest to never back up GAPPS when flashing ROM's. If that's what you did... wipe everything again and start over but do not restore GTalk. Hope that works for you.
What carrier are you on?
Double check your APN settings (Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names)
If it's WiFi, it's probably a ROM-thing. Reflash or use another one

Alright, so I tried this and it didn't work. Only thing I restored was battle net authenticator.

T-Mobile. I didn't get too check the APNs before I restored from a previous version. It looks like a AOKP build from Dec 24 and its got Faux working on it perfectly. I'll try another build at a later date unless someone has any advice that I can try.
Bumping for hopeful solution to this. I've tried running JellyBro, JellyBeer, newer AOKP and even an older Gapps. I can't seem to solve this problem. ANY info would be appreciated.
Edit: So taking out my sim card and letting the N4 sit on wifi does the trick but as soon as I put the sim card back in it continues to have problems. This leads me to believe its the sim card so i put it into my Gnex and it works just fine...
Bumping again for anyone who has any ideas on how to fix this. Haven't been able to even use my Nexus yet since I've gotten it because of this.

Someone please help, I'm having the same problem, if I solve it, I'll let you know...
I did search for a solution but none of the issues are quite the same and there were no real solutions.
I am running the latest stable PA build on Google Play N4 running on T-Mobile monthly 4G. For the most part the service is fine but it seems that every morning when I wake my service is gone. Going in and out of airplane mode and turning on and off data do not bring back the service but a reboot does. When I look at the status I do have a IMEI number so that is not the problem. Additionally, If I go to Mobile Networks and choose network operators it gives an error saying "error while searching for networks" and terminates the search.
Since a reboot fixes the problem I assume it is not a hardware or SIM problem.

I have the exact same issue, presumably since updating to 4.3 Jelly Bean. I am running stock. After my phone has done nothing for a while, it loses its mobile signal which can only be recovered through a reboot, only to lose it again after some time in standby. Wifi works normally. I run on a T-mobile network through another carrier in The Netherlands. Anyone know where the problem might be coming from?
Same problem with Mobilicity in Canada on 4.2.2. It seems to be an issue with the 1700 aws band.
I haven't had the phone for too long but I was on slimbean 4.2.2 build 7 with a Franco based kernel and used it for about 4 days without any issues or need to reboot. I will try this combo again.
I have also tried radios .27 .33 and .84
Update:
Still had issues using 4.3 jss ROMs. I recently did 2 things and have not had any issues or reboots @ 114 hours up time without using any wifi.
When I removed the sim card I noticed that the sim card's contacts could be touching the metal sim card tray when inserted. I placed a tiny strip of scotch tape on the edge/contacts of the sim card to ensure it could not be shorting out. When I booted up I also went into the phone settings and changed it to "wcdma only" as Mobilicity is 1700 only.

If you guys are on the latest baseband and the latest radio(i.e. .84) and still you are having this problem why dont you guys try the hybrid radio(combination of .33 and .84). I had read in some thread, people solved this problem using the HYBRID RADIO, .
I think you can get he hybrid radio in RADIO COLLECTION thread,.
Hello.
Just today, I have finally decided to update my nexus 4 to android 4.4. I downloaded the factory restore image from Google for 4.4 KRT16S, and installed it.
After reboot and setting up all my apps, I have noticed I'm not getting a data connection anymore. I was connected on 3G just fine a few minutes ago. What's going on?
If i open google chrome and try to go to a page, it says "Wifi and Mobile Data is turned off", however going into Settings -> Data Usage I see mobile data is turned on. I turn it off and back on again to no avail. I can see my phone number and make calls out just fine. I have tried toggling between 2G/3G. I have also tried checking the APN's and they are correct.
I'm lost. No matter what I do, going into Settings -> About Phone -> Status it is always showing "Mobile network state disconnected".
Is this a bug with 4.4, or what?
Edit: Fixed it! The problem was that in the shipped 4.4 rom from google, someone made a mistake with the APN's.
The default T-Mobile APN field was blank. I created one with the APN set to epc.t-mobile.com and immediately it started to work. The DASH is very important, as epc.tmobile.com does NOT work.
I've tried all of the roms with varying configurations. I've tried all of the kernels out as well. However, they all have the same issue: "No apn specified." and the constant roaming glitch where I randomly have no data and all of my applications reset, even while I'm using them. This makes every single ROM unusable. This is even worse for me because I live in a deadzone area, so I can't even use my phone at home because apps are constantly reloading and I never have data.
Does anyone know how to fix this or a workaround or something? It's very disappointing to say the least as I came from a samsung device and now my options are virtually nil.
Okay first thing first, you have a Verizon sim card right?
Use adb to Flash back to bone stock and stock kernel ensure that you wipe data and cache (backup anything you don't want to lose), don't insert your sim card, download your preferred rom. Travel to an area that you get service from Verizon. Insert your sim and activate your phone ensure you get service and have 4G. Then once you have confirmed that everything is okay. Flash your preferred rom once again confirm that everything is fine. Then go home and enjoy your cellular dead zone.

Flash a ROM that is not cm based. (Cyanogen butchered something for verizon)
OR
Install a third party SMS app like hangouts or textra and configure the APN settings yourself. (With hangouts I've never had to, it just works)
AND
Turn on data while roaming to achieve 3g (its nothing but cosmetic, you will NOT be charged extra)

On different ROMs, my experience has been that after a few weeks, my mobile data becomes unreliable (data connection lost, 'x' on the bar symbol in the status bar). Sometimes, mobile data could be restored by switching between 'Global' and 'CDMWMA/LTE...'. More often a reboot was necessary. Then, gradually, the number of reboots increased until I had to reboot multiple times/day. Concurrent with this, GPS lock time increased dramatically (maybe because of no data, but also when I have mobile data connection).
I have now finally found that creating a new APN solves this problem. I just go to \Settings\SIM Cards\Card 2\APN and basically copy the individual settings of the APN of my provider to a new APN and all the problems disappear.
I have an A2017G with 2 sim cards and an SD card.
I believe the Google Carrier Services app causes issues after an update. Nothing to prove that but it seems I have glitches after an update and go to check my settings then it seems to work better.

Where exactly in Settings do I need to go for this?
Also, update: on my 2nd day with RR (2017-12-18 version), I lost my mobile data connection and only a reboot brought it back. So not sure my APN solution works in this case. The APN solution above worked on AOSPExtended. Looks like I will need to continue to look for the real root cause of this.
