[ROM] [ICS] Android Open Kang Project - galaxysmtd - build 27 discussion thread - Galaxy S I9000 General

hello people i have opened this thread because the official thread stands a high risk of shutting down
on this thread you can talk about
kernels
best configuration kernel+rom
modds
bugs
fixes
and helping other people
all credit goes to sixstringsg and rom devs!

i got a realy good performence from both samephore and devil kernel but in both i got the android os drain whan phone is not used (5-6%) for 1 hour in wifi...:\
so for me i'm still looking for the right option to choose.

the os bug is fixed in b27.2 i think correct me if im wrong

Great Idea !
Best battery life - Semaphore latest kernel with battery saver mode, didle works perfect, wifi on and network on, and have 4 -8 % drain by whole night ( no drain with wifi only ) It seams that my phone also charges quicker, but that could only be impression by using car charger in most cases to charge it.
When it comes to installation issues. I never had any problems ( full wipe ). To make it complete trouble less get some other ISC flashed before hand, update kernel to semaphore and then flash build27.
When coming from GB use this guide, and files to flash. I did that way when changing from GB to ICS and never had any FC. The only thing you could do is to update kernel after flashing as the one below has a CWM 3 not 5.
And don't flash from your external SD card ( its obvious right ? )

yes you get getprop. issues with b27 when flashing so
download b23 and b27 and put them onto the root of your sd card
also download gapps and semaphore
flash b23
bootloop
pull battery
go into cwm flash b27
also flash gapps and semaphore b4 reboot

I came from be18's B26 to B27 with full wipe and then to B27-2 with only Cache/Dalvik wipe. All good, no loops or FCs.
However, I did have rather high Android OS % and battery drain on both B27 and B27-2. Battery life was great on B26 with Devil 14.2. Tried stock, Devil 14.2 and Devil 1.1.5 kernels on B27 with no improvement.
Now using Semaphore 0.9.1 and that seems to have solved it. Fast, stable and only lost a few percent last night with WiFi on. I recommend B27-2 + Semaphore 0.9.1.
(My settings are 1200Mhz OC, SIO, SmartassV2)

OS Bug
It's still there, I come from full Wipe but it does not matter it's not kernel related it's Rom related. The only ICS out there to my knowledge without the OS bug is Dark Knight ICS 4.0.4 (very fast but not as smoothe and feature rich as this one)

Hello,
can someone help me? Im trying to install AOKP ICS, but when choosing the update.zip it gives the following messages "assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "Galaxys" || getprogp("ro.build.product") == "galaxysmtd" || ... and so on.
I can't install AOKP. I've downloaded and copied the file two times and the checksums match.
Any Idea what might help?

Best rom at the moment?

Hi!
Im thinking about install a new rom to my phone but cant decide which...
I want a rom with so small bugs thats possible but still some features that makes the phone better
I installed this Clockwork Recovery for a pretty long time ago and dont remember what it do
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044585
So I wounder if I need it or just can remove it?
And if I gonna install a new rom, which Recovery is the best at the moment?
Would be very thankfull if somone with more experience could tell me their opinion!
My prefer is void. (2.2.2; #eridanus) by Noejn.
Install Perfect Recovery 4.0.0.5 and try yourself all ROMS.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
Okey will try that rom and recovery
But if im not happy with the rom can I then change back to the orginal?
IF you take a backup with recovery yes,!
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
At the moment definitely VOID 2.2.2 latest
What makes void so great? Dec got rid if his phone so no more updates. Might as well use something that'll get new fw updates..
I believe that Oxygen is the best Rom at the moment. Miui is very good as well, but with Oxygen battery life is amazing (more than 40h, with wifi and BT on all the time) and it's got most things sorted.

It maybe so, but at least camera is fully functional.
So, which ROM would you suggest overall? Fully fuctional, acceptable battery life, speed etc. I'm with B137 v8.2 and I feel I need something new.
FYI, I usually clock the cpu to 1Ghz or 1,2Ghz.
then go for the v8.4 & his new kernel
http://bbs.goapk.com/thread-3177723-1-1.html
http://bbs.goapk.com/thread-3423090-1-1.html
this is the most stable rom atm with good performance. other roms are faster but some things dont work or they are not stable.
your choice.

how do you know that is. good Rom. did you tested it already? so is a room like void with Android 2. 2. 2
i use this rom for almost 2 months now. from v7 i think.
i never ever had a fc reboot etc (except 1 time i had the cpu at 1.5ghz).
everything is working fine, the only small problem lies in the modified franco kernel genokolar used (he modified it to be even more stable),
it has some problems on charging (franco's kernel had them also as i have read, i dont know if its fixed on his newest version cause the modified one is 1 version older than 20 july one).
(u can avoid that problem the kernel creates by not flashing the kernel and keeping v8.4 kernel).
here is a link that i have uploaded both 3
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V99GYVBN
dont forget to install superuser from market or root will not work without it (as everywhere else also).
for the ones that want performance its not the best out there but its still a good one.
i get 24xx at quadrant at 1.3ghz when this void user gets the same at 1.5ghz but i get lower on antutu (3018, made a 2nd run and scored 3167 if it matters) propably cause of the 0.2gz less cpu speed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15978575&postcount=326
but this oxygen user gets allot more than me on 1.3ghz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16303582&postcount=391
(i have also 1.2gb worth of apps installed if this matters)
the good thing this rom has is stability and everything works, from what i read most other roms have things not working, bugs and not that great stability, miui is a VERY good rom also (has its small bugs) cause its based on 2.3.5 but i dont like miui style ^^ (personal opinion).
oh i forgot to mention that its totally stock (except 1 small app with reboot, shutdown etc options).
i made some changes please re-read my answer

bro, thanks for ur info.
btw, my ideos is u8800H, is it compatible also? and i had flash with muui1.7.3 (android2.3), is it can flash back? ( use recovery tools to flash?)
thanks for help.
yeah its for the u8800H also as i can remember. you can keep a backup and if you dont like you can go back anytime...
oh and flash works just fine, i dont see any reason not working.
there is a new miui version that came out before an hour, try it first cause you maybe like it better (since i see you already have miui).

Thank you very much. I have flashed your uploaded three files and would like to confirm that this v8.4 is the best ROM for u8800 nowadays. BTW, since the original ROM is from China, I do hope to have your help to keep update this ROM whenever there is a new version or any changes.
no problem, i can keep you updated, at least until Genokolar decides to put his work here.
tried the v8.4 from Genokolar on my UK Huawei U8800 and it didn't work kept looping at the start screen, so I went back to using the FLB Custom ROM

Neutrino Rom cannot wake up after a long period of idle

I am currently at Neutrino rom V2.5p2 GT
my phone have some problem that it cannot wake up after a long period of idle, such as EVERYDAY I wake up in the morning but I cannot wake my phone up. I have to pull my battery off and back in to reboot the device. This problem made me fail to receive morning calls for a whole week.
I am using Juicedefender, but not sure if it is the cause of problem.
Since this is the first custom rom I flash and I love Neutrino, but I think stability is a must to me. Are the V2.5p2 EE or V2.2 having a better stability? should I try them? or any patch can fix this problem?
Thank you so much!
same as u with 2.5p2 ee
wait for the next build
Sleep of death as its known, not always rom specific many of us experience it on different roms under different loads under different situations.
There's a few of us trying to track down the underlying problem, but at the moment we are all trying out different things which some work for people and not others
so agreed with the above just wait for the next build maybe that will work for you.

Like i've said in the Neutrino thread - it's a CM7 bug that was present in the original weekly.
Flash the 023 kernel, wipe dalvik, reboot.
023 seems to have fixed the problem for me. Going through a second day without random reboots, sleep of death.
Link to the kernel can be found in the faux dev thread, but it's also in my sig.
I think my phone must be hate custom ROMs because it have SOD for Jokersax and Turl CM9 as well as Neutrino ROM. Did flash some faux kernel but solve nothing. Still running Jokersax CM9 although SOD simply because of ICS. My own opinion, don't try CM9 unless you are ready to stay with it until official release.

I didn't enable wifi. Just using data plan. The setting for 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' is Always as default.
I'm using N_01.100.00R baseband, could it be the issue? Any baseband recommend to use in Asia?
I follow what Jokersax said, format /system, wipe user data, wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM. I manage to flash every single ROM and boot normally. Weird.

I am using the default ATT baseband N_01.77.30P.
But from my experience, the reboot / sleep of death issue is most definitely related to WiFi.
Try setting Wifi sleep to "off when the screen is off" and switching to 023 kernel.
Haven't had any issues with this set up in the last 2 days.

Read from other thread with the workaround solution by installing Load Monitor or Wake Lock to prevent phone to go into deep sleep and fail to wake up. Now my phone run at 216Mhz instead of deep sleep when screen off. So far no SOD experience yet. But don't know how my battery life ink this case. Will update again after more observation.
[edit] no luck for load monitor. Get a SOD after 2 hours. Trying wake lock now. So far 6 hours no SOD. Will keep update.

I think the problem is solved with the 023 kernal! 2 days after flashing with no problem even set the wifi to be always on.
I think V2.6 EE version is worth trying since it include the CM7 kernal and claimed to have amazing battery efficient! But the V2.6 version introduced Launcherpro and many changes so I am not going to change it at this point, maybe a few days later.
Can I just flash the V2.6 stock CM7 kernal on my V2.5p2?
where can I find that CM7 kernal???

Why would you want the 2.6 kernel on 2.5p2?
For me 023 fixed the SOD issues.
Anyway, if you want to try the 2.6 kernel, download the rom, extract boot.img from the archive and flash it via fastboot, wipe dalvik, reboot.
If i were you, I would switch to 2.6 entirely. Haven't had any SODs in the past 24 hours since flashing.

Kernel speedmod is secure from BRICK?

Hello guys, I would like to know if anyone has done a fullwipe with speedmod, and if it is safe from brick.
thanks
Yes, it is safe.. I did a full wipe after I flashed a Stock ICS ROM and SpeedMod..
Do you only want to do full wipe or also flash a new ROM?
Thanks for the reply, I have to just do an update from criskelo V11.1 to v11.2 ...
I have no problem or lag.
Just curious because I want to do a full wipe and resume with a video and post it on the forum where you usually scrivo.Li speedmod doubt that it is safe to say that it is safe only notecore

Speedmod got no problem at all. I've been using it all the way.
First of all, this is the safest kernel to do a full wipe to your G-Note. After my last brick (using other kernel), I changed all the way to speedmod.
But yes, Notecore is also another safe kernel to do a full wipe.
Batterydrain on speedmod ? impossible, my friend.
My battery has been so good to last 2 times longer than other kernel which I've tried before, includes the Samsung stock kernel.
You have just to take note, that after installing / upgrading new ROM, and changing kernel, give some time please to your new ROM and/or Kernel to settle themselves on your device. During this period, your battery of course will drain faster due to processing issue.
Don't worry, around 1-2 days, after your ROM and kernel settle on your phone alrd, the battery will do good to you.
And do a battery charging recycle for few times, and you also can use the battery calibrator to clean your battery status (if you are changing ROM).
ehi joker,
i think we have the right answers for the italian forum.
so we can do a full wipe with speedmod.
si vai tranquillo

Didint test CM 9s myself , coz i jumped from Stock to 2ndboot immediately CM 10 Cyanogen, but from what i can read - mostly all 4.0.4 are stable now.
CM 10s are also stable enough, used all versions of Cyanogen by Quarx from 2013 - suggest , if you decide to go that way to start with 0409 ROM. It has pretty good battery management, and no WiFI dropouts..All in all good choice..And no ringtone bug too.
If you get no WiFI and or no mobile signal - check FIRST aeroplane mode - it tends to boot with it on.
Just turn it off - and all works.

Think that read here on forums that SetVsel won't work well with CM10s..and tends to crash the thing ...look it up, not sure about it where i read it. If ur using it - try with something else. Also , read about developers pages - they are doing something wtih 3+ kernel but still very experimental.. check Quarx pages ull find all kinds of it there.

But, its based on 2.3.7 , isn't it? My guess was we are talking about CM10 4.1.2...All 4.0.4 are fully stable and thats CM9. Your talking about CM7 if im not mistaken, and that's way old. For that to put on defy plus - you can leave stock..

cm9/10 seemed too slow to me. stock is somewhat better but nowhere near gb-based miui. and the subject thread does not mention cm10. to me, the improvements of cm10 in terms of features do not make up for the loss in speed.

Best ROM for Battery Life and Stability [?]

I'm currently using Zenfone 5 and I would like to know which ROM is the best for if it comes to battery life and stability (no app crashes)? and what should I do to have dt2w on older ROM?
On 7.1.2 Resurrection Remix and 7.1.x LineageOS the battery is very weak.
> 5.0.2 CyanogenMod 12.0 maybe? or some original ROM (KK/L?)
Yes. Stock based roms will do well for these. Borets ROM recommended as it is updated and the developer is on the forums. But why did you open up a new thread for this?
i made this topic because i wanted to know specifics - which ROM is currently the best considering battery life and no app crashes.
You said that original rom should do but which one exactly? And what about "Double tap to wake" ?
Every developer kept his own rom - the truth is that zenfone is totally useless on every nougat rom. I have to charge my phone 2 or 3 times a day. (Greenify etc does nothing really).

Most ROMs have dt2w except for a few stock based ones. I did recommend Borets ROM

Where greenify works and does something beneficial .
I suggest redmi note 4 or one plus or may be pixel will be a good choice ..thank you have a nice day /night
Buy a new phone and you don't need to worry about your battery life. *double tap to wake also there*

Will these also be ok? I currently have cleanstock ROM but the battery is still weak.
And i can't flash the mnml STOCK ROM.

You must do reboot recovery after wipe everything then flash rom and etc
Try zenodex ROM, it is based on stock KK.
All features can work well
Is it possible that the old rom is not compatible with latest TWRP ?
5.0 stock based ROM, Intalled greenify, L speed, power nap, Amplify, AppOpsXposed, Calibration (Intel Deep Sleep Mode) and my battery still sucks... any ideas?
Soo , which is the best ROM for battery life ? And I need only battery life , no features needed or whichever android version
