[Request] Original Kernel (last version) with Xrecovery - XPERIA X8 General

Hope, someone could help me out. I have a unlock bootloader, custom ROM....but now I want to try a 2.2 ROM that is only working with stock kernel, with custom kernel it wont install it. I tried to install stock and then install Xrecovery, but no luck, stuck in the SE logo.
So, I am here asking for help, maybe if I have a custom kernel with Xrecovery inside, probably can flash the ROM.
Thanks in andvance for any help.
PD: I dont want to flash to stock, is too risky, lock the loader again, and then flash with SE Updater, then root, install Xrecovery

I9023 recovery problem

I have a NS I9023. It was on stock 2.3.6 with locked bootloader and stock recovery.
I flashed the official ICS ROM which is working fine. But I am not able to see recovery. It's a problem many have reported but I have not come across a solution.
Can somebody please help. I would like to goback to 2.3.6 and wait for the OTA for my device.
Thanks.
You can flash the stock recovery image from 2.3.6 using fastboot and install 2.3.6 using signed update zips from google

Got back to 2.3.6 lock and stock. Phew....
I had to go through the same process for the same reason. After this journey through ICS on the NS, I'm really looking forward to the OTA for our i9023.
I was on the nexusbeam 3.0 rom, flashed back to stock 2.3.6, lost root and cwm, flashed the OTA via the stock recovery and then flashed cwm via fastboot and su.zip via cwm, no problems.
did anyone try that?

I follow this guide and then install CWM by Rom Manager and it working now
After flashing ics4.03 ur recovery and boptloader are overwriten by rom itself. So if u want to access cwm u have to flash cwm everytime. Tats what im doing atm... sad

AOSP roms flash recovery on reboot. To stop this (with root) use whatever explorer/editor you have available to rename/delete the /etc/install-recover.sh
Then flash CWM and it's permanent.
The recovery screen is actually there. Use a flashlight and flash it at the black screen.

What he said. It seems that some people with 9023 can't see the recovery because its too dark, many are remembering button sequence to go through it

You will have to unlock boot loader. Then use fast boot to flash custom rom. Then flash stock rom using the custom rom. You may then lock the boot loader if you like.

Grey Blur... how old is that. Wasn't that for froyo and not gingerbread...
Ok, 2 things, well 3 things actually...
1) Did you actually try to flash a ROM and/or is your phone stuck in a bootloop? If not, and you just want to return to stock, you can flash the 4.5.91 (Android 2.3.4) sbf file. This will fully return you to stock, no root, no cwm, no nothing but stock. Or if your just trying to wipe the theme you installed, try a factory reset.
2) If you did try to flash a ROM and are stuck somewhere... you can still flash the correct sbf file, or you can go ahead an unlock your bootloader.
3) Do not use Tenfar's recovery. Use Rom Racer's or ROM Manager... but you need to unlock your bootloader first.

You are able to flash Tenfar's without unlocking your phone, it's also required to flash Greyblur. I've done it before aswell, I installed Gingerblur without unlocking my phone. Very dangerous yea I know. So do what Swift said, unlock your phone or flash ONLY a 4.5.91 SBF onto it.
P.S. Yea Gingerblur/Greyblur is froyo!

Trouble reflashing ASUS stock ROM for ZE551KL

I accidentally tried doing a factory reset, and flashing an incorrect rom. So I lost the stock rom, and have no other rom to use. I tried using TWRP to flash ASUS's stock firmware from asus's support website, under firmware. Using firmware file: "UL-Z00T-WW-1.16.40.763-user.zip"
but TWRP tells me "E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip'
Error flashing '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip"
I still have access to both adb, fastboot, and TWRP but I cant get an OS to install.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, haven't even had this phone a day yet, and already may have broken it.
I don't have an answer to your question , just got this phone yesterday and am in the process of figuring out how to root and install a custom recovery for this specific device.. I have found many methods to root but none for my specific model. I think you have the same model as I do and was hoping you could lead me to the place that will give me the files I need.. the box my phone came in has the model as ASUS_Z00TD (ZE551KL).. Sorry I wasn't of any help to you, hope you manage to figure out how to flash something that will get your device running again!

Happy to know that it works for you.
Whenever you got stuck in this situation, just flash stock recovery & you will able to flash stock rom again.

Do yo mean this stock recovery? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64441364&postcount=9
How do I flash it? just "fastboot flash recovery stock_recovery.img" ?
If so, I've tried that, and TWRP still boot when I try to enter recovery. Also, once I've flashed the stock recovery, do I just place the firmware on the root of the sdcard as 'update.zip' and try to install it from there?
Thanks for your help already, and sorry about the repetitive questions!

I think since you are rooted and you tried installing the OTA, the boot.img is replaced by the original one, that breaks the phone if flashed on root. so you can try 2 things:
1. Try flashing the EX kernel again. Flash the Uninstaller 1st and then flash it again and then normal boot from TWRP.. if it loops to TWRP, use point 2 procedure.. if it works...
2. If you are being re-directed to the TWRP. press and hold power + Vol down to go to bootloader and then use normal mode.
Personally, I would flash EX kernel again and then boot...
Hope it helps!
If Nothing helps..Make a Nandroid backup, Boot to bootloader by Power+Vol down. and then flash stock from PC..
u can restore the nandroid backup by Titanium Pro..

Try the steps that abhi212b suggested (this was for users that had TWRP installed and took the March OTA when it was available).
As an aside, OTA updates will only install properly on the stock recovery with a stock system and kernel. Thus you'll have to remove root, flash a stock kernel and stock recovery and then you should be able to install the OTA. If you have a custom logo.bin, you'll have to flash the stock logo.bin too.
Thanku so much.

Want stock kernel back

Guys i unlocked the bootloader of NPN 25.137-92 indian retin variant with nov 1 patch. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone with SU, only problem is that cam stops working. Then i installed Elemental X kernel 2.02 as a workround to get the cam working which went ok . But i want to go back to the stock kernel, i dont want to flash whole rom . Is there is a way i get info or download link for the stock kernel. Is it possible that i can just flash the kernel. Will my camera app stops again if i do that?
Please reply

Flash boot.img from your stock ROM using fastboot, just like you flash stock but this time only flash the file boot.img
Thanks for the prompt reply
Before trying the Fastboot method, do a backup of everything in case of a bootloop , after flashing the stock kernel, do a backup with Flashify

The fastboot ROM can't be flashed with TWRP, we have a separate TWRP flashable stock ROM builds that are used specifically with TWRP and other custom recoveries (if available).
So to make it clear, you can't flash the fastboot ROM via TWRP, you need to download stock ROM from the below thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-twrp-flashable-stock-builds-t3675616
Keep in mind to flash only the firmware that matches your device or the last update version you were on and never downgrade to a lower version than your device had when you stepped into the world of custom ROMs, root and etc otherwise you'll end up bricking your device.
Oh wow you just solved my problem i was really worried but this will do it... Yes i go through the instructions and flash the correct one... Thanks again
