Hey guys!
Just wondering if anyone has any pictures/walkthrough of how to remove and replace the GPS aerial on the SGS. Pictures with writing would be preferred but any help would be a pleasure.
Many thanks!
Paul!

This is a thread I started last year which also has links to other threads. In the end I soldered a small piece onto it and never had a problem since. Just note that if you are already getting many sat views but no lock these methods may not help.

I get no sats in view. I think I broke it by using a method of pushing on the back. I found it on here, tried it, but guess I pushed too hard. I gave a replacement aerial on the way in the post. Just need instructions on how to fit it. I've done plenty of modding but never opened up the phone; kinda nervous too if I'm honest.

i would be interested as well, since mine never worked.

From what I've seen the problem is not usually the antenna, but instead 2 parts not connecting. One part is on the inside of the back case and the other is on the board inside the phone. These 2 parts are meant to touch but over time they can stop doing so. Pushing on the back case would have pushed the bottom connector (on the board) down over time. Many have opened up the phone and raised the board connector (it's like a U shaped spring) so there is better contact. I broke it leaving just a flat piece so instead I soldered a small piece onto the case connector and GPS has been permanently fixed.

When I get time i'll open the phone up and see.. Any chance you can post a picture as to where it is?

In the thread I've linked, at the bottom of the OP there is link to another thread which has the pics you are looking for. I soldered a bit onto the back casing connector. In it you will also see a pic of the U shaped connector.
Edit: here is the thread with the pics. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970

Pics or it didn't happen!
You probably didn't crack the camera lens, you probably cracked the plastic lens that's over the camera, right?
You need this piece:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-HTC-EVO-Spr...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a5d074580
You can see in the teardown pics that the camera lens is actually under this piece. Better hurry though, that's the last one (I bought the other one for a project I'm doing).
Im suprised that this is such a big issue.. ive never had a problem, neither have any of my friends. Well, ill take that as we are lucky...

Thanks for the reminder for me to be careful with that lens. I hope it's not a problem for you.
Same here.
I too have an issue with my camera. The plastic covering the camera has a dent right over the camera opening. Any ideas on this seemingly simple rplacement part?
That's what I was trying to get but, anyways it seems to not affect the pictures at all... at least on mine...

So i decided to root my G2. When i did i got a phone call and could not hear the other person. I decided to unroot my phone and I still have the problem. I don't think its a hardware issue because i have never dropped the phone from a large height. Ironic that it would be but I don't think thats the case.
If anyone has a fix please reply! I've tried SuperWipe and Wipe through ClockWork and factory reset and everything!! I don't know what i haven't tried yet but a fix would be very appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Probably need some more information regarding what ROM you are running. I know there was trouble with some older ICS ROMs (and GB if I recall, its been a long time) where the mic pickup was terrible and people could barely hear you talking during a call.
EDIT: Opps. Just saw you were talking about hearing other people, not them hearing you. Still, need more information regarding the ROM you're on.
Just got the same problem on Andromadus 99. I will check if its software or hardware related in a couple of hours when I get home.

Yeah that'd be great. The only part that I can take apart is the battery haha.
I'm sure there is a dissasembley guide somewhere on youtube. I'm not much of a guide guy I just like taking things apart so I couldn't tell you. if search ebay or amazon you'll be able to find the speaker I'm sure. if either of you are having trouble pm me and ill walk you through it, @ work now so I don't have time to write up a full guide, only tools needed will be a t5 and small phillips

Hi guys. My Defy met with a tragedy and I need your help here! To start with I went for a vacation to Kerala and my phone got waterogged(I dropped in river!) First it was fine but then there was moisture in the screen and I removed the battery immediately. Since not removing the water would damage the circuitry and I was sans any screwdriver I gave it for service in a local shop in front of my eyes, but despite me being super careful I did not see him lost two parts which I realised only when I opened the phone again at home!
So summary is:
ANYONE HERE GOT SPARE PARTS OR PROBABLY A SPARE DEFY THAT DO NOT WORK? I need two things:
1.) One of the two yellow washers on the circuit.
2.) Black separator on the proximity sensor(between the circuit and front digitizer)
ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET THEM IN INDIA OR OWNS A DEFY THAT IS NO MORE IN USE?!
Since the water sensors are not red yet I intend to claim back warranty!
Thanks in advance
Worst case scenario is me buying a spare and then claim warranty in my original by taking parts from the spare. I am ready to pay at most 5-7k INR in the spare phone!
Pictures of the parts are attached.
This is the part I am looking for. I got the yellow washer.. This are some close ups
Okay so here is the list:
Me: one yellow washer and the proximity rubber grommet.
nogoodusername: Flash module
hsrars-d : Motherboard(But you are in Finland?! )
brajesh.sharma: LCD
Guys now I think we can go ahead and contribute to buy a second hand Defy for about 7-9k?!
I think i have this parts
Tell me how can i send it to you and i will give it for free
You only have to pay for the post send

Hey guys, check out this cool app here-
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helloklick.android
Note:You'll need to buy a really 'cheap on pocket' device to use it which doubles up as a Dust-Plug.. Or rather I should say, it's actually a Dust Plug that doubles up(or even more)..
I just now ordered it and it costed me only US$ 2.24 including shipping money
Waiting eagerly for it to arrive to me..
I'm not posting any links here to the device because I'm not sure as to whether it'll be an infringement of XDA's rules..
For those who're worried that it might get lost while using earphones-it has a solution to it too..
Last but not least, it couples up with Tasker.. :victory:
Here's a quick video, the version of app is old here though, but it'll familiarize you with the device and the app itself-
http://youtu.be/CQJvdU7TPBs
It'll work for Android devices only.. Not sure about the minimum version of Android required though..
Let me know how this turns out for you

1. You better change your thread title because it doesn't have any relation with what are you advertising here.

I did a quick search and liked the idea but the problem I think would be that in pocket, those 4 buttons could be activated due to its placement on the backside, talking of backside of phone, I use a wallet case for my Note 3 and that wouldn't let me use Dimple..
You know what..
I just now figured out that, the button on the earphone would function like the button on this smart dust plug when one is using the earphone.. :victory:
For those of you interested in it, it's called-
360 Universal 3.5mm Plug One-click Shortcut Key
Pretty long name I know..
But what's in the name..
And the name of the app is Klick
It's available here for download..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m=klick&pcampaignid=APPU_57SwU7qWI8WFOL7dgegJ
Great thing-it won't compromise with the security of your phone.
Pre-assigned app will be launched and using that app to navigate further into system will take you back to the lock screen..

Battery performance is still fine for me..
I came across Pressy only after I ordered the Smart Dust Plug for myself and realised that the Chinese manufacturers copied this idea too..
Because they weren't required to put in R&D like the Pressy guys did, it costs only a small fraction of it without the need to wait for it to get delivered..
It's sad for the Pressy guys but you just can't stop the Chinese manufacturers..
InPrivate
Could anyone please share the Activation Code of their Pressy, I want to give the related app a try with my Dust Plug. .
