device with 512 ram shows 358 - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

So where is the rest? U8800 has 512 mb. With barely nothing running... most tasks killed I have only 140 mb free to use so most games just crash. Running aurora rom.
I remember.

The system uses a lot of ram but 140mb sounds kind of low.

The rest is reserved for the GPU.

Sweet spot for phone storage memo and phone ram??

Whats the sweet spot for the amount of free ram and free phone storage meomry needed for smooth operations??
my phone has like phone storage memo 52 mb free and free ram in phone is like 70 mb on startup and 45 - 50 mb after few hrs usage..
I really want to install another app which ll take like 5-8 mb ram while it's running, which leaves like 40 mb free ram for other apps!!!
Is 40 mb free ram enougfh for smooth rumming of fone?? (music, videos, opera, and ebooks )
oh, I wish to have so much free RAM
I think 40MB is enough, under the condition, that You will not turn on all these apps simultaneously.
Ah thanks
I ll run only one of em at a time

Internal Memony HTC Hero - How many MB Ram

I am using Eray (from Android market) on my Hero, and it tell my that i only have 165 MB Ram (internal memory) on my Hero. In the specs it say 288 MB Ram.. "Eray" shows both how many Ram i have left and how many i have all in all on the phone.
Can it be true, that i only have 165 MB Ram??
Can someone please check if they have the same amount of Ram???
mine is 165 too
288 - (everything the OS consumes to run) = the free RAM available for you

Ram, cpu scores, and storage

Doesn't the amount of internal storage available effect the amount of ram available? In other words, if I remove a ton of stuff to free up space will that increase my available ram?
What is the minimum amount of ram for high quadrant score performance? I ran quandruant with 168 available ram and get 1080 with everystock dio7 except custokm recover and mixedup overclock latest kernal. I'm getting 9.68 for best linpack score.
I wonder if scores would change if I had 120 free ram. I am curious as to that cut off point where ram amount effects scores.

I ran twice at the following ram levels:
- 970 quadrant with 115 mb ram free.
- 998 quadrant with 130 mb ram free.
- 1006 quadrant with 145mb ram free.
- 998 quadrant with 150mb ram free. Ran 3 times!
- 999 quadrant with 163 mb free.
Seems to me there is zero performance difference between 120 and 170mb of ram from all my tests.

removing programs gives you back internal storage and does not give you more ram "unless" you are removing programs that are running in the background which take up ram then you will gets some ram back and also internal storage.
ram is just a storage for programs to excess when running and after fixed allocation the epic has left over 325.
internal storage the epic has 512 to play with.
two different things

Does android really activates the 576 mb ram

when comparing the hd2 with other devices with only 512 mb ram on system info it hd2 shows (422mb ) on other devices it shows (488) which is higher also hd2 has 576 mb ram which is higher than 512 , that makes me believe that 576 is not really functioning on android
I supose, the 40 or 60mb remaining, are for graphics memory, or system proceces.
I'm not sure.
But if now dont have 575mb... never we get all the ram

Only 528MB of RAM? [Solved]

Hi, I've just noticed that if I go under Settings>Applications, I see 144MB used and 386MB Free, resulting in a total of 528MB of RAM, so I am wondering what is going on with the almost half gigabyte of RAM missing, is this allocated for the OS?
Buddy, what you're seeing is free ram and ram used by your apps. The ram you are NOT seeing is being used by the actual OS.
thanks buddy, that is what I was actually thinking.
