how to define a ringtone for notifications on Aurora - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I know that we can set a ringtone to be used by Aurora for calls, but is there a way to add new ringtones to the "Notifications" list?

Convert the file to ogg format and put it to /system/media/notifications.

Thanks, Jule131

I'm not 100% sure, as mp3 ringtones work. But i know this method works, and that's why i posted it.

you need not convert it. choose the correct permissions using RE. it will show in the list after a reboot

julle131 thanks for the advice tortured me this subject with ring tones

Looks like you are using compression to create the zip. You need to zip in a non compressed format...

What did yo use to make the desc.txt?
Notepad sometimes doesnt' work too good.
I tried to make a new one using Notepad++
and it seems to be good. (tested and it's working)
Here I uploaded it, just rename to bootanimation.zip

you're right once they're in /system/media they should show up when you choose a notification. if not you can just choose a file explorer to navigate there and choose it.

As this doesn't have any kind of development this thread must be in general section.

[Q] Need help with ui lock and unlock sounds

Well, time for my first post. Hopefully I don't come off as too much of a noob.
I was messing around with the lock and unlock .ogg files in my Note 3's ui with Root Explorer. I was trying to change them to the codec noises of the original Metal Gear Solid. But alas, I replaced the files, rebooted, and nothing changed except for the fact that when I lock my phone there's no noise at all. Could someone offer me a solution?
Did you rename them exactly the same as the ones you were replacing?

Hmm... Check permissions and verify they're the same as all the others. Also are you running a custom rom? I know some have multiple locations to toggle the lock screen sounds. I'm running out of ideas here haha. I've changed mine to stock 4.4 sounds before no prob.

I just checked the permissions and they're the exact same. No, I'm using the stock ROM. Probably going to install a custom one and see if that does anything. Haha

What is the exact permissions on those files? If they're the same name, only other thing could be is permissions or the media file itself

Which are the standard sounds? Somebody knows that?

Thanks for these. I copied them to the system sounds folder but they all make the same sound. If I play them through a media player they are fine. Weird.

Yea, it might be from a korean system dump. Anyways, I don't think the name matters as long as the tunes are good
