I flashed it via Odin from LB1. But i m finding it little laggy than LB1.
(Mind u little means actually very less , i found scrolling contacts n msgs was smoother in LB1.)
Though i will be sticking with indian rom
Thanks for the info. Updating now. Will let you know if I find anything new....
performance improvement
I wonder if there are any apps (or easy way) to actually measure the performance of apps and operations on device so we can capture baseline with each update and then compare it when next update arrive. This way we can be 100% assure. It would be good to have on non-rooted device.

Yes, you have latest Official Indian firmware.
If you dont mind, may i ask what the red jet icon on status bar is for?
Oh Wow!!
The 1-2 second lag after your phone comes out of sleep mode is now gone!!!
Well done Samsung !!
Kies vs OTA?
I found the LB2 update via Kies yesterday. The initial download took around 3 minutes , the second step took over 30 minutes but did not complete .
I did an OTA update today, and the whole process was done in 10 mins.
What is the difference in the Kies update method vs OTA , why does Kies require more files to update?
Kies replaces complete firmware(abt 550MB) while OTA, just modified/added files only. Size of the OTA update depends on changes in ROM

Are you sure? I got the OTA just now and I can still see the lag.
The startup is very fast in standby. Before this, after pressing home button I had wait for few seconds before the swipe to unlock screen appears. Now it is almost less than a second. Overall performance is also faster.

Wonder why I am still seeing the lag. My device is pretty much untouched. Didn't even root yet.
EDIT:
I noticed a pattern. If I have an active download in progress (thereby having the "downloading" icon on notification bar), the wake up lag is gone. In normal conditions the lag is still there.
Similarly when the charger is plugged in, there is no lag. Once I take it out, the lag is back.
Looks like the system shouldn't be totally idle for the wakeup lag to disappear.
It is called a wipe, it clears trash from last fw and it is good. You will spent a hour or so to restore your accounts but it is worth it.

I did wipe the cache on stock recovery but that didn't remove the lag. I don't want to wipe the data and start all over.
I just hope ICS for Note is around the corner.

I think he meant OTA .. the update was available for download earlier , but OTA came in yesterday.
I also installed it and i find its touch responsiveness to be pretty smooth compared to the old versions ...
Dr mentioned that this also has a better battery performance..
Well i found the OTA update on 2nd March itself, hence you are late for the party
The battery performance has improved drastically, No call drops as in LB1, Lag has reduced, google+ as default app .... better than any previous release. Last night my cell was on standby for 8 hours with only 1% power consumption. Hope this helps.

improved wifi reception
Guys I reconfirm here that the wifi reception is definitely better.
Besides another add on that I have noticed is that when I hit the wifi toggle in the notification tray a white pop up appears momentarily telling u about the available wifi signals and u can touch and choose whichever u want to connect to. Earlier u always had to go to the wifi settings to be able to do this.
Hey guys, since 4.4.2 has arrived.. I think its fair to create a thread where all of us can report whatever bugs exist in 10.5.A.0.230.. So that Sony can see this and fix them.. Or it might help our devs..
EDIT:
Bugs i found,
1. Wifi gets disabled by itself, a simple reboot solves it though.
2. Small stuttering on the notification bar.
3. RAM leak exists but gets fixed after a reboot(Google's 4.4.2 bug and its fixed in 4.4.3).
4. GPU drivers arent as good as in 4.3..
5. Over time, the fw becomes unstable'ish and shows some lags and apps take time to open.
6. Sometimes calls won't reach the other side and when it does, the caller(us) wont be able to hear anything from the other side.. This happens a lot like once in every 2-3 days..
7. Sometimes after video recording, there is no sound in the video.. Its MUTE..
7. All 4.4.2 Google's bugs..
If u have any other to add, mention me and i'll add em..
Fixes:
Most of the bugs are solved automatically after a simple reboot, if u face lags do wipe cache and dalvik cache and u will see the difference..
Google Play Services battery drain bug can be solved by disabling the Location service.

It seems to be normal that 4.4 is a bit laggy, try out the following: "Settings--> Developer Options --> Force-GPU Rendering", after rebooting it should be a bit better :good:

Yeah its really annoying for kitkat to have a huge drain off battery
By the way, does anyone already tried this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
Im still on 4.3 but confirmed info from my friend:
Camera app slower start, typical is 7sec but max was 14-17sec, and overall laggy camera menu.
Stock keyboard slower start, and laggy text select option.
Overall speed of menu is worst.
No audio notification via bluetooth
Battery "sucker" system apps.
4.4 stupid SD card limitation(but its google stupid idea)
Worst performance with GTA: SA
PS enabling Force-GPU Rendering or {omg} 4x MSAA is worst thing that you can do, because it make older apps lag or even FC.

It was expected, seems like they didn't put much effort into this, just to give us "something".I knew it they are not delaying the release just to perfect the firmware, but oh well, going back to my favorite AOSP.It was the same case back then, when they released 4.3 journalists version, then they gave us the very same firmware as official, despite the bugs that everyone was reporting. We got what we deserve I guess.

Just got a 7.45MB quick update that had the standard update message - "Stability and security fixes are included. Thank you for choosing Samsung!"
I think it might have fixed the screen mirroring cannot be started bug - haven't had any trouble with it after the update, whereas before it would mostly fail.
Edit: Also noticing a recurrence of Chromecast notifications when casting. Those disappeared after the last update. I think. No crashes so that's great.
Just got the update too. I'm able to screen mirror to my roku3, whereas before the update I'd get hardware errors. Movies now stream, though it gets pixalated. Think that's cause miracast is still in beta for Roku's.
I haven't been able to try out the screen mirroring functions, but I'm glad to say that the homescreen seems more responsive after the update.

I played a full H264 movie on my Microsoft DisplayAdapter and it did not appear pixelated but the tablet was bit slow when the movie was playing- I've got a Roku3 as well, will try it out later.
Battery life seems to be somewhat better after the update - drain is less when using the screen and the tablet continues to be smooth.

What is your glitch? I get something that happens once in a while where the sound is very low resolution and sounds over modulated.
Seems to happen most after playing Clash of Clans.
I've had it do that once and I've had it sound "sped up" once.
And now there's a 4+ Mb CNK2 update. This is more update than I am used to from Samsung. Hopefully this continues and we get to 5.0.4 fairly sooner than usual
No idea what the update actually fixes.

Just got another update today. K2 at the end of the release and still 4.4.2.
Not much for details included in the description on the update notification, just software enhancement and bug fixes.
Happy to report that NK1 & NK2 are both still rootable with the cf-auto-root made for 4.4.2.
Also, I might be imagining it, but it seems like battery life is better on NK2, especially standby time. CPU is definitely entering deep sleep more often than on any other KitKat build for this device.

As mentioned in the root or update thread, the OTA updates contain only patches to the binary code and not full source. It'll have to come from Alcatel.

I am not sure if it is just me - but at least this part is NOT fixed. clearing open apps still has the same stutter that it had before. I restored the animation scale back to 1x and that has not changed anything. Maybe that is how it is supposed to be.
The app launching appears to have improved *slightly* . Whether double tap is more reliable remains to be seen. The update did not reset my launcher setting i.e. it did not revert to the stock launcher .
Overall - so far , I am not seeing anything worth getting too excited about - Not so far at least.
BTW - just to confirm - I now have Android version = 5.0.2 Kernel version = 3.10.49 Build number = 7SQR-UER0

Same here, not too much difference noted with this update. Anyone know if Alcatel includes a changelog someplace with these updates?
I feel differently. This update, so far, is great. The lag I had previously is nearly gone and installing apps is much much faster. DTTW has worked everytime (only tried about 7-8 times so far) unlike previously when it hardly ever worked. I don't notice anything different on the camera but I've only played with it for a short period. I've not used this phone as a daily driver since I got it in May because of the user experience, it just lagged and I hate lag - especially compared to my LG G2. Today however, I put my sim card in and will give it a true test, being the daily driver.
I was going to return it initially but held onto it waiting for an update and glad I did. I simply couldn't understand why this phone was not at least as fast (or faster) than my LG G Pro Or HTC One M7 since both of them are running the Snapdragon 600 (vs 615) and slower GPU. Plus both are also running pretty heavy skins yet both were way faster/smoother than the Idol 3. It had to be software and optimization which seems to be what this update addresses. The screen and speakers on this phone are to die for and I'm glad it's now able to be used effectively. I may think differently in a day or so after a real world test but for now I'm excited about this little guy.
I just got the update this morning, and my initial reaction is pretty good. The phone just feels snappier overall. The notification shade seems to come down very smooth all the time now. Previously, when the keyboard was open, the notification shade would drop a lot of frames when you pulled it down. The camera seems to be doing a better job of getting the correct point of focus too. Also, double tap to wake actually works now! This is huge for me because it only worked about once out of ten tries for me before. I'm happy.
Edit: I'm also seeing about 1.5GB of extra free storage. I wonder if the phone wasn't properly moving apps to the sd card before. I have about 12 games installed, and I have them all moved to the sd card.

My first observations after upgrade:
- system is smooth and fast, but the fact is that it was such before upgrade as well;
- smart battery saving leave you less options as before; you can't use it with screen off time adjustment any more; my impression is that with no battery saving you achieve less uptime than before and with smart battery the same as before but with more restrictions;
- overall color specter moved toward blue and a lot of white; light color letters on white background are sometimes difficult to read;
- safetynet (indicator of secure applications like Android Pay and Pokemon) fails wit the last upgrade; it passed with MM and first N upgrade 336;
- still no trace of wifi calling.
Camera is subject to more deep and demanding analyze which may follow latter.
Overall I'll be glad to get safetynet back and wifi calling sometimes soon.

This update optimizes the system and stability and makes the phone run more smooth. It repairs Taobao app text dialog box on order to prevent blocking input method. It also repairs the problem that call recording can’t add the specific contact. Further, the problems that outgoing call can’t be placed and phone can’t be connected to WIFI are fixed as well. Removed error that Talkback can’t be used. Fixed HuaweiShare autolaunch after WIFI download rate is reduced. Fixed issues with 123006?? and banking (shopping??) apps like Taobao. Power consumption is optimized in order to extend battery life. Screen brightness parameters optimization.
The translate is result of mutual efforts of me and GoogleTranslate and it is far from perfect.
My first impressions after update:
The system is stable and ready for the transition from beta to the production version. It is responsive, smooth and fast. No substantial deficiencies could be detected. There are still some glitches that should be improved though:
1. In order to make the outlook white as a snow (combined with sea blue) the producer made some application text hard to read (white on the bright)
2. Using the power saving mode gives you insane 6 hours of SOT. But the mode fixes screen on when passive to 30 secs time and it can't be adjusted. What could be really annoying in some situations. I would have easily sacrificed 1 hour of SOT if I had option to turn off the screen manually.
3. SafetyNet (connected with payment and other safety apps) fails after every upgrade. Thankfully so far I had it back in a few days and I hope that it will happen this time too. I think that the failure is connected to beta status of the upgrade: Google might consider upgrade as a test version of the system (safe applications don't work on the rooted phone, custom recovery, unlocked bootloader or test versions of the system). I don't understand the mechanism on which the functionality suddenly returns: is it by Huawei's intervention, Google app upgrade or simply recognizing the upgrade as real, not test version.
Finally, there is an improved custom ROM for AL10 and AL00 (HRT-Kangvip) if someone with rooted phone wanna try: http://club.huawei.com/thread-11821416-1-1.html (use GoogleTranslate).

I also upgraded to 5.0 and then I did a factory reset to set all from the beginning...It seems to me that battery runs out a bit faster (first thoughts) and I agree with all written before this post....
I fell in love with new quick tools panel quickly, so dont feel about downgrading so far))
I will wait till our russian coleagues make up a clean EMUI 5.0 (without bloat and perhaps with some customizations) as they did for 4.1 (author: greatslon at 4pda)
Or maybe our honor devs will give us some cure in new builds...

Got a new upgrade yesterday, the version B368.
This time the change log is in Chinese so I have no idea what it is about. At least it still works fine, no complain so far

I am in China, I already got 3 updates since I bought it (3 weeks ago).
That's why I can't really compare with marshmallow as I didn't use it much.
I just found out they still didn't fix the bug when we use the fingerprint to slide photos in the gallery. It works but it's not as smooth as before.
