Looking for a new rom (need battary!) - Galaxy S I9000 General

well my curret rom is called pilotex which is an israeli rom.
its ok but it keeps getting stuck. the problem is im looking for a rom which will last like this:
3 hours of wifi at least evrey charge
and also 4 hour of playing games like cut the rope\move the box\sprinkle (those kind of games) evrey full charge
pilotex lasts with those game fine but there are some new games that i wana try out that keep getting stuck like dungeon defender and legendery heroes
is there any rom that can survive 4 hours of gameing or 3 hours of wifi and that it will be fast?
i saw that alot of people use cm7 but i also saw that the battary on that rom goes down crazy (people said they lose 30% in 3 hours without using the phone!)
i dont use 3g almost, only wifi!

Think about the facts. You want to play some newer games without lag. And also you'd like the battery to last long. If you play new graphically impressive games it's normal to have "abnormal" battery drains as the CPU an GPU run at much higher frequencies than they do when playing light games.
So no. There's no ROM that can handle all that you want.

well then for the part of surviving at least 3 hours with wifi on and screen on (browsing the web) which will be the fasts rom?

Try Gamerz ROM.

were can i get them?

ICS - Dark Knight v3
GB - DarkyROM v10.4.2

I have the best battery life with XWJW1 firmware, Midnight 0.9.0 kernel and XXJVU modem... It's really amazing.
I also tried DarkyRom 10.4.2 and 10.2.2, which were both good, too, but not as good as the combination mentioned above.

Roms and battery life!

Hey, I hope this is the right section to ask this in.
I have a MyTouch3G (32b) and I've went through what seems an endless amount of ROMs.
Can any of you suggest to me a good one. All I'm looking for is one that saves the most battery life. Everything else is extra.
If you can't point to a specific ROM, i understand. But what kind of things should I look for when reading through a ROM in a forum to tell whether it is battery-life-friendly?
If this is a stupid question/in the wrong place I apologize. Thank you for your time anyway!
go into the dream forum and get super d 1.8...for me its great on battery can go a day and a half with med to heavy use....plus its fast as hell
I switch between ROMs all the time, but I got the best battery life and with MANUP's 2.1 ROM for the 32B MyTouch. By default that perticular ROM is overclocked to 527MHz, but if you get the OverclockWidget V1.6 (that's the one I use...i forget who makes it, google it) and bring it down to 128MHz when the screen is off, and 384MHz when the screen is on, and then just switch it back to 527 when you play 3D games, It works great.
I have been back on MANUP's 2.1 ROM for the past 2 days, and I just hit 50% battery life, while playing Robo Defense for about 10 minutes, talking on the phone for maybe 3 hours or so throughout the 2 days, and texting maybe 10-20 times...
for me that is normal use, since I only have my phone on me for about 4 hours a day when I'm not at work. give it a shot, and at 384MHz, there is VERY little lag when you use the SpareParts app that the ROMs have on them and set your animations to FAST.
hope this helps...as I still consider myself a noob with the droid (I've only had my MyTouch for about 5 weeks)...
EDIT: with other ROMs, like the SUPER D, or SUPER E ROM, they have the option to grab either the ROM with or without the RAM-Hack (it adds about 10MB to your RAM), but renders 3D gaming useless...not even Labyrinth will play in 3d mode. It's up to you if you if you want that feature or not...
Hey, can you send me a link to Manup's ROM? I can't seem to find it anywhere x.x

Perfect Mixture of Power/Battery Life

I'm currently trying out different combinations of ROM's and kernels to see how much i can push the phone while still getting at least a day of battery life. So if you have any ideas post them.
im using obsidian v5 beta with stock kernel + oclf.. on a day to day basis with moderate/heavy use i can average 2-3hrs on call, 1-2hrs gaming when bored, 30-50 texts, checking facebook and email. Full charge to about 30-40% left at the end of the day (unplugged for 10-11hrs)
im not trying to stay unplugged for 2-3 days like is a marathon.. im just glad it can last me the day without me worrying about limiting how i use my phone and go about my business

So far I think I covered I'm very satisfied with batt life, as far GPS is concerned i've had no trouble getting locks. I havent exactly timed how long it locks though but i'm guestimating within 30secs. I ran it for 2 days no lagfix and it's been very smooth.. Just got greedy so i added a lagfix anyway
Axura stock gets me 30 hours (light gaming, light pandora, heavy texting, moderate web browsing, 3 widgets pulling data, all on 3g)
thanks for all your input guys, the reason for this is im trying to put together a collaboration of different things from separate roms, similar to what frank707 did, and im deciding on what rom to base it off of. i think i might go w/ axura, just for the transitions and the rom works very well.

help to all

Hello all
I got my galaxy s around 3 months ago with 2.2 jpa installed from vodafone.
I soon got mad with my new toy for being slow and laggy and found this site.
well what a site thank you.
After lots of reading weeks and weeks of reading I decided to flash to 2.2.1 js3 what a rom compared to jpa, fast, smooth, usable at last.
It did not end there -gingerbread came out jvk , I was so excited and use to flashing my and my wife's phone I had to do it.
Being so excited I flashed the rom the one with bootloaders then hard reset entered in my apn setting witch I copied down before first flash, flashed new kernel cf-root 3.1 finished.
Well my impression wow wow wow wow and one more for good look wow.
I had other friends with the same phone and did 2.3.3 jvk flash on there phones but that is were the problems started , not flashing that went well it was battery life so after reading up on this site I found out how to get back the life 3 days of life not far off 4 days with very light use.
well how did I do it
keeping the brightness to auto
and turning off wifi , bluetooth and sync and gps off when not needed.
animated screens did most of the trouble half of it anyway.
Now the second part app's watch them like a hawk these little things drove me mad you see some send your android os mad check your battery stats.
why
some are badly written hog everything even when off need to install one at a time and watch battery stat's to see if they are good or bad
you see some use the internet or gps and other things even when they are switched off. this should not happen may be someone could look into this.
after finding out the the apps that are hogging the battery life I asked the people to drain till the phone turns off to full charge twice FIXED.
so in one go I
removed animated wallpapers back to a normal one.
turned off wifi , bluetooth , gps and sync when not needed.
and drained my battery and fully charged it twice.
changed my wifi sleep policy to when screen go's off.
Installed apps that I can trust and watched other app's I installed
also my battery lasted a lot longer after installing HiAPN app to stop the 3g when out and about you see i am on pay n go and even with everything off something was taking my money for internet use 69c a day hiapn stopped this.
the apps I can trust is
igo satnav
ndrive satnav
angry birds 1 - 2 and 3
hiapn
gael fon free
i runner
shadow guardian
drag racing
pool master pro
raging thunder 2
upm ultimate password manager
speed test
colornote
fat booth
shazam
xda app
cover art downloader
file expert
fancy widget
bubble buster
mx moto
lets golf
hd wallpapers
barcode scanner
free music download
youtube
flash
asphalt 5
google maps
I hope this may help some one with there phone.
I am happy with stock jvk and cf-root kernel and crt screen off mod long live gingerbread.
all of this info is from you people not me from a lot of different topics. thankyou the most important site on the web after spankwire no just kidding.
thanks
maybe if you think the same we can have a good / bad app topic for people to check up on and get in touch with google to vet apps for bad code
You joined in Jan and this is your first post. Seriously weren't kidding when you said "weeks and weeks" of reading - Welcome I guess.
Try JS8- I found the battery life with hardcores kernel to be great. I also don't have to turn everything off. That said, I could never achieve 3-4 days worth of usage - I use my phone way too much. Charge it every night.
very nyc

Samusng Galaxy S2 horrible battery.

Hey guys, I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 (over 2 months ago)
At first it was really good with battery life, lasting over a day with medium use.
It started to get really bad, draining down from 100% to 50~ over night with no use at all.
I searched the problem and came across these forums, which said 2.3.3 was a problem sometimes.
Now this is also my first android phone, so I'm not sure exactly how to do all the tinkering around with it. Long story short, I found that changing to 2.3.4 helped a lot. It did, for 2 days, now I'm getting the same problem again. Maybe I didn't do it right? Need help! (also this forum is huge, not sure if I'm in the right spot)
Have you tried flashing a custom ROM and kernel? Pick out a ROM that you like and then install a nice kernel like Speedmod. Lite'Ning ROM v6.1 and Speedmod T39 together really increased my battery life.
Is there like a "how to" section on this site somewhere?
As I said, this is my first Android phone, so I'm a little lost as to how it all works

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND LEAVE ODIN AS DEFAULT. DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE DURING UPDATE OR YOU CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE. YOU ALSO NEED SAMSUNG KES INSTALLED FOR USB DRIVES CLOSE KIES WHEN USING ODIN
Thanks for the help guys.
I "think" I rooted my phone and got a version of 2.3.5, which is also supposed to be better on the battery?
just download 'start up manager' from the market, disable useless stuff that is not need ed, I get more then, a day now worth normal use.

Or also get titanium backup, and freeze all the useless crap on the phone that you dont use. I did that and it went from 7% every hour (despite the fact that there were no wakelocks) down to 0.5% every hour
EDIT- on standby/very little use, that is.
Also after you flash charge your battery to 100percent and calibrate your battery there is a good free app in the market
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well if you're using its smart phone capabilities it will really drain quickly. Specially when on data. What I did was to get an extra variety and an external battery charger-best investment for this phone ever.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
You can also see what drained your battery by going into battery usage: Menu - settings - about phone - battery usage. or create the shortcut on your desktop.
download betterbatterystats to check what processes are burning your battery and stuff. helped me a lot, this app.
Given that you are getting decent performance for a bit, which then drops off, I'd say it was far less likely that the cause was the hardware or the ROM and far more likely that it is something you are doing with the configuration or software.
Try removing any widgets you have added - does that improve battery life? If so, add them back one at a time until you find the culprit. Also, make sure you are not signed into stuff like Latitude - that is an absolute battery killer.
You have seen that you can get decent life from the battery, now you just need to work out what affects that.
It was the 2.3.4 OS draining the battery. I wouldn't touch my phone, and in 8 hours it went from 100% to 20%, with the status saying Android OS 100% in battery usage.
Now I'm on 2.3.5, battery is at 95% after 4 hours.
I'll give it a few days, and see exactly how it goes and if there is a substantial difference in battery life in relation to use.
I almost had the same problem with the battery but i flashed omega rom and so far i have no problems! I always have wifi on when i am at home and 3g when i am not at home and the phone can run up to 2 days!
Have you tried doing a basic search and looking at one of the 100's of other threads crapping on about battery life?
<deleted> sorry
galaxy s2 i9100 Battery Problem!
I am using Samsung Galaxy s2 for a while and I am facing an extremely low Battery Back up. Around 9-10 hrs to the max. I got the battery changed from the Samsung service center and have tried changing alot of different firmwares.
KE4 -> KE7 -> KF3 -> KH3 -> KI3 -> Simple and clean 1.2 KI4.
Nothing works.
I am attaching my "Battery Usage" images along. Please find a solution for me. Thank you.
Calibrate your battery, but you must have root access. When you have root than load the calibrate app.
i am quite heavy users on my sgs2 at first i had battery problem lasting only 5 - 7 hours... i got juice defenders free version from market and well it didnt boost my battery life to 48+ but it did made me last 1 and half day
New battery stats!!
Alright I experimented with the battery to check whether there is a problem with my battery or my firmware/kernel.
I tried the same battery on 2 different Galaxy s2. Battery stats below :
DEVICE 1:
Firmware : Stock KF3 Rooted
Kernel : Stock KF3
Battery Usage : 14hrs
Display : 45mins
Voice Calls : 1hr50mins
Battery remaining: 50%
DEVICE 2:
Firmware : Simple & Clean v1.2
Kernel : SpeedMod k2-18 test3
Battery Usage : 12hrs
Display : 45mins
Voice Calls : 2hrs
Battery remaining: 19%
Now in the above case I have used the same 1650maH battery in 2 different handsets. So why so much difference in battery life on an almost similar usage when I also made sure that the Brightness levels of both the phones also remain same.
Please help me out on this.

Stock GingerBread 2.3.4 UK

Hello people,
Here are some screenshots from the Official Gingerbread 2.3.4 update for Milestone 2. I can say that i tested all the custom roms (CM7, CM9, MIUI), but this Official Gingerbread is by far the most stable, fast and responsive from all (720p also working fine). It is true that after you install it you cannot install another custom rom, but for me that was the best option.
I like the custom roms, the only problem is the recording in 720p ..
now custom rom based on ch gb kernel will work on uk kernel too.
Most stable? Maybe. Most responsive? Maybe. Fastest? Definitely not! I don't want to flame, I just don't want to see some begginers confused by your post. Also it can be faster, because of that >$>$€[ blur thing, which consume both CPU and RAM resources...
And why people are using custom roms? Not because of stability, not because of hw compatibility, but mainly because of really good functions and speed!
But it is matter of choice of course.
Guess you didn't use the new official Gingerbread yet.
Let me tell you one thing: it is DEFINITELY faster. It doesn't use a lot of resources: all com.motorola processes together use about 24Mb on my device. For comparison: SwiftKey uses about 18Mb of RAM.
Does it use more CPU cycles? Only when you tell it to. By default you must choose Blur to be active on a mobile connection. If you don't, it simply doesn't do a thing. And I can tell you, I have it enabled and it certainly doesn't hit my battery life as bad as the Froyo ROM did: I still manage to get about 48 hours of battery life.
So if you don't want to flame, please get the facts right! Stock Gingerbread is perfect for beginners. Should you use CM7 if you want more power? Of course. But don't tell Blur is **** and only uses resources.
I use 2.3.4 official GB ROM on my MS2 too and must say: I like it. I used CM7 before and several issues and everytime the upgrading...
So my MS2 is fast and really good. I don't use Blur so it's fast and 48h battery life is normal (again)
@all other 2.3.4 GB users:
have you found the additional programs: Settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all ? (HipHopOfficial, Revolver TV, Rock on Altitude, True Country, Video Editor Lite)
There are really interessting things, but I can't find a way to start them. I never installed them and did a complete wipe before installation without a restore. So they are not left others from previous trys.
I used all Custom roms available on this forum, and yesterday I installed the new UK GB SBF.
I must say I'm impressed, but still miss some tweeks on it.
It is indeed faster, stabler and smoother than other roms.
What I really miss is being able to control the media player on the lock screen, and the widgets in the notification bar to control wifi, screen brightness, call volume, etc...
At the same time, all this can be solved with 3rd party apps, so I do not see any problems with it yet.
Since I always recharge batery at night, I can only say that I can use it all day long and still have some batery left.
I like CM7 a lot, but I am not regretting one bit about not being able to use CM again...
They have been there since forever
You can access them in Connected Music Player: Go to video's and select GoTV Channels and there they are.
The Video Editor Lite can be accessed via the Gallery. When you have a video, you can edit it and it will open Video Editor Lite. It's the same way Blur has a photo editor It can also be accessed from the Gallery by choosing to edit a photo.
---------- Post added at 02:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:08 PM ----------
The music control on the lock screen is indeed a function I miss as well, since the CH version got it. But well, for now I can live with it
lol guys 48 hours battery? with stock rom? sorry but is hard for me believe it. im using sticking rim frim first day it comes out. actually i tried a lot of things like undervolt e some app for better memory management but my phone have hard times to rech the night.
i use data connection and wifi often and actually using juice defender for comtrol screen light and manage data connection every 15 mins, so seems go better but at max i can do one day then i have to charge it.
so tell me what u mean for your normal use and post some battery stats not that i dont thrust u but just for watch ur phone use.
im keeping using stock rom because i like make videos in hd but ill try ms2ginger rom soon
I've charged my phone today. Right now it's discharging for 5 hours and it's still at 90%. I didn't note I've got the extended battery.
My settings are WiFi and 3G on, automatic brightness and sync on. From those 5 hours 58% was used by the display because I was chatting.

I never knew such a thing existed.
What is its capacity in mAh? And does it charge okay inside MS2?
It's 1820mAh, and it's an official extended battery for the Milestone 1/2 & Droid 1/2 by Motorola. You do need to buy an new battery.

So it fits in just fine inside MS2. What about the mV you get on this? I'm guessing it will be related to the size of the battery and should be more.
Edit: I just found out that it comes with a new back cover too.
hey, how can i install it? im from Argentina, and now im in CM7. What can i do? Thanks
It is a pity that there is no way miui room on this firmware ...(((
Hi,
I'm from Malaysia with a UK set Milestone 2. I received the 2.3.4 update on Nov 2011..and i kinda agree that the new 2.3.4 is more stable and fast than the stock Froyo. And the UI is better too. However like many others i faced the battery problem which drained and with my frequent used i can only get around 6 hours of usage.
Currently i using a Custom ROM from Nightly with ICS theme and i must say, my battery life improve. With my frequent usage now i manage to get 7-9 hours of battery life and with less usage i mange to get around 13 hours..
Nevertheless, the 2.3.4 update for Milestone 2 is still the best if u using stock ROM and i'm glad that motorola do that.
Thanks Motorola..
