Lets be serious, now there are a lot of people who are going crazy over the iPhone 4..dude Apple releases iphones every year(and this year only being slightly more spec'd then my 6 month old nexus)....ANDROID HAS A WHOLE YEAR TO ADD EVEN MORE FEATURES..i say i feel sorry for apple..just my 2cents
..not to mention even gingerbread is going to be even bigger to me than when the smoke clear, and when even more android phones come out people will see the light...
I agree with you 100% but you got'a luv that video calling, c'mon who doesnt!? thats seriously the only ONE thing that would make me consider selling my Adrond and my hd2 for an iphone, but then I remeber its only on ATT, they haave the luxury of making their plans sooo expensive due to the demand on the iPhone, I dont like that!

It's only iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 and they both have to be on wifi?!
Sounds like crap to me
BTW if you really want video calling without restrictions... get the EVO 4g on sprint and you can call over 3g/4g.

Dude like the other person said its only over wifi for all that if you using your iphone over wifi at home might as well use a computer that's why they call it a "mobile" phone should be able to use that feature anywhere. And when skype release for android it will be amazing.
idk about u but im really getting this iphone 4 for sure....as my ipod/backup phone to my Sexy Nexy

Heh, funny thing is, I could do the same if I wanted to get locked into a contract honestly. At least, if I wanted a subsidized price.
But honestly, what's the point? I'd rather have everything all on one device.
dont get me wrong, its a cool feature to have video calling, but i honestly dont talk on the phone that much....plus its another way for crazy girlfriends to be nosy ...lmao not that i have that problem

As much as I hate apple, we can't ignore the hardware specs on iPhone 4. I do not see anyone trumping them anytime soon. Android is a good OS, but apple has very capable and quality hardware to go along with their OS and that's where they dominate.

I can make a gay joke (which may or may not even offend you depending on the team you're on), or a sad, lonely geek joke with this. Tell you what, think of one yourself and pretend I said it.
J/K of course.

First dual-core Snapdragon will be the MSM8260 (the HSPA part will likely lead the CDMA MSM8660). Aside from the modems, they're identical and clock in at 1.2GHz.
Just a bit of a guide:
MSM8x50: 1GHz single core (N1, Desire, Evo, Incredible, etc CPU). Only CPU in teh public now.
MSM8x50A: 1.3GHz single core. Die shrink (same CPU design, but literally shrunk via new technology reducing power consumption and heat output). Due late 2010
MSM8x60: 1.2GHz dual core. LTE support. 1080p decode. support for up to WXGA 1280 x 800 screen resolution. Due late 2010/Early 2011
MSM8x72: 1.5GHz dual core. Support for up to WSXGA screen resolution. (1440 x 9001080p encode/decode, full support for all Mobile TV solutions. MASSIVE overhaul of graphics unit, with it reportedly able to render 80M triangles/sec and 500M+ 3D pixels/sec. Reports have suggested a late 2010 launch, but given that the unit has yet to be mass produced for OEM testing, I don't expect it before 2011.
I wouldn't give up hope that either of the dual-core parts will show up in smartphones. They seem targeted at tablets and smartbooks. It will probably be end of 2011 before we see enough improvements in power consumption to see that kind of performance in a mobile handset.

Hmm.. I smell someone who doesn't know what HW means. What HW specs?
Maybe A4 with unknown frequency that was already trashed in its fastest 1GHz form by either overclocked Droid or Nexus + JIT (and will be blown to bits by any future CPU, at least from Qualcomm's line, seeing that currently in its 1GHz form in iPad it's already below the 1.3GHz Snapdragon), and current Samsung CPUs (in Samsung phones) having x3 more powerful graphics (and later Qualcomm CPUs improving the GPU as well)?
Or maybe 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p video recording and front-facing VGA one, that are available in Evo for some time now, and the already-released dual Snapdragon below supporting 1080p encode/decode?
Ah, you mean the display resolution.. in 1/2 year that'll be pushed even further.

What rumors? It's officially launched, both of them. Here's the dual core:

There are devices scheduled to appear with it until the end of the year (hoping that they'll actually make it on time). Can't say if there are any phones, though.
again, I had video calling since 2007 over 3g on my N80 and it was free on my 3 network. LoL and now Steve says "BOOM video calling" and all people going crazy about it. Go to Asia or Europe it´s just normal and something you rarely use.

Agree that Apples idea of video conferencing is far too limited. If they really wanted to do something right, they could have worked on a standard everyone could have shared, and enabled it regardless of how your are connected.

I think your smell-o-scope is broken. I know a certain professor who can help you
Processor clock speed is just one of the performance parameter of a CPU and on its own means nothing. I will, actually, go further and say, CPU specs alone means nothing to me. It's the total package that counts. I will buy a 2.2GHz thinkpad over 2.6Ghz inspiron laptop and even pay few hundred dollars more. Because I am paying for the whole thing, the chassis, better hard drive, etc... Inspiron cheaps out and thinkpad does not.
Let's go back to phones,
Show me one SINGLE phone that has these specs ( or even any phone that will be launched within a year)
1) Processor capable of doing intense graphics (OpenGL 2.0, HD video)
2) Display with 326 pixel density (Note: resolution alone means nothing. It's pixel density that costs more money)
3) IPS panel. To give you an idea, 24" TN panel costs about $200, IPS $400
4) Tri-axial accelerometer.
5) Triaxial gyroscope
6) 720p video capable camera
7) front facing camera
8) Gorilla class glass
9) Noise canceling mic
10) Pentaband 3G. I travel and i know the importance of it.
11) Wireless n card
these all together are hardware. not just CPU
Let me reiterate my hate of steve jobs and company. However, apple has not cheaped out on this phone and let's appreciate that. I have always said, HTC cheaps out very regularly. I do not think I need to present any proofs of that, search on XDA.
Having said all this, I like my freedom and I will stay with Android. But i will not wear a fanboy hat to defend HTC or google nor will I post rants against them. But please, lets appreciate what other companies are doing good. that too in a socialized manner.
Im gonna move to the iphone 4 inspite losing flash support but getting a high res display nearly like the first webbooks AND hd video recording WITH A SOUND and not this ****y noise/crap audio the nexus one is recording on videos...
whatever guys, i get both!
hahaha
I have to admit the iphone4 is pretty impressive...but its not enough for me to buy one.
I still love my nexus and flash.

Hmm, I see your point. But I think it's not that simple.
I can show you phones that have subset of the features: 1, 6, 7, 9, 11.
Be surprised, Nexus supports OpenGL 2.0 and HD video (if you mean 720p). So does Evo.
Evo supports 720p and has front facing camera.
I'm sure you know Nexus also has noise canceling mic and wireless N. Evo lacks the mic.
Display DPI, another axle in accelerometer, gyroscope and glass (?) aside - they're advanced. Might be important, might be as needless as noise cancelling mic (the only thing it's good for, it seems, is not allowing people to speak to the phone from a distance). Pentaband is a function of antennas, which might be supported on current HW (need to ask RF people, don't have enough knowledge to tell).
On the other hand, how do you compare lacking features? For example, being so excited about DPI, how do you compare smaller or larger screen sizes - what counts as an advantage? OLED vs IPS paned LCD - for what reason do manufacturers need to go back, Samsung already proved that OLED can be made to work great in direct sunlight? How do you compare lack of HDMI out, weak camera, lack of WiMAX/LTE support, lack of removable battery (for as simple a reason as being capable to execute forced shutdown, for example)?
I'm far from being a fanboy for any technology. It's just technology.
P.S. And even if I dig into specs of future phones that aren't rumored on the net yet, I wouldn't disclose them on the forum, don't you think?

It also features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC (near field communication) hardware that lets you read information from NFC tags..."
The phone is pretty much a Vibrant with a front camera and NFC. Hopefully we can get some drivers for the new BT, WIFI and GPS.
Now, we wait for Samsung to begin releasing source for the galaxy s platform, right?
Since 2.2 has gone so slow for the Vibrant, I wonder how long we'll have to wait.
Video of the advertisement for the NS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxUXulxE5o0&feature=player_embedded#at=53
Look at the camera layout, same as the Galaxy S. I don't know. I have a feeling we're gonna have a good port.
^ I got that same good feeling.
^ I just feel that same tingling goodness for port. Can feel how TW, Eugene, and other devs are getting ready.
http://www.google.com/phone/compare/?phone=samsung-vibrant-a-galaxy-s-phone&phone=nexus-s
Comparison Chart.
It's the same damn phone, lol.
I hope getting the BT/WIFI/GPS to work isn't an issue. If we can get CM, Eugene or TW to get a stock GB port, I'd be in heaven.
I was just about to post the same link, ha
http://www.google.com/phone/compare/?phone=nexus-s&phone=samsung-vibrant-a-galaxy-s-phone
Great minds think alike. Speaking of great minds, I hope some of the devs are around to see this. Those guys move fast.
I'm pretty sure since CM likes Dev phones, once the NS goes on sale he will work on it and whatever he does with that is likely to get pushed to us.
Eugene is fast though, I'm sure he already built a ROM for it!
Wow to 2.3.

Koush I know has already ordered one, per a tweet. Team douche may not be able to keep their hands off this samsung.
I notice on the tech specs it doesn't even record 720p video? I guess it'll be easily hackable to do it, but still...
If it's just a vibrant with a working GPS, FFC, and LED flash, I'm all over it lol.
Is the AMOLED screen the same? (As in... pentile RGBG matrix?) That's the only thing that would hold me back...ugh.

According to engadget it has a 4-inch WVGA display...
Does the S not have an sd card slot? Very.. Very odd.
,Alright time for samsung to release some freaking code.
The phone is quite a let down, but this is necessary. Google needs to use devices that have specs in the wild. Coding on a phone with a dual 1.2 GHz processor with next gen GPU and tons of RAM would only make for an OS that is expensive to build phones for, and an OS that cannot be easily backported to older/supported devices.
That being said, I'm not touching it. Too bad it's not Moto or HTC. Samsung is out, AFAIC.
Apple is about to refresh the iPad, so Android Tablet will face tough competition there.
With the release of WP7, and the patch coming up, Android phone manufacturers are going to start facing stiff competition from low-cost builders like Acer, etc. for the phones, especially since those phones do not require anything near the in-house developer work that Android phones need. They need to start standardizing the hardware better so that the end-user experience is better (update, etc.) and the the performance and developer experience can compare to that of WP7 and iOS.

I don't see anything wrong with the Vibrant's screen. Responsive, sexy, sleek.
Don't get me wrong, I like the Vibrant screen a lot. The ONLY gripe I have with it is the pentile matrix, which makes text look grainy/fuzzy compared to normal LCDs. It's not an AMOLED thing, it's their decision of RGBG instead of RGB for each pixel (technically RGBG is 2 pixels). The Nexus One has the same type of thing, but the screen is 3.7" so it's not as noticeable. On a 4" screen it's much more pronounced... I suggest you don't compare text to an iPhone or MT4G so you don't get annoyed when you see what I'm talking about =)

Hello, guys, it seems that Nexus S is finally announced but it has almost the same tech specs, that Samsung Galaxy S had and probably completely the same design.
The problem is that my Samsung Captivate is broken and I am coming to UK in 1 week just for 3 days and Nexus S will not be in stores at that moment. I am not sure wheather to buy DHD in England for a lower price than in Moscow or to wait 1 week more and to buy Nexus S.
What would you advise? Is DHD a GOOD phone? Shouldn't I wait for that Samsung' made phone?
BTW my Captivate was broken because of that Super Amoled screen, I even don't know why (and can't replace it).... Just advise me something
And could you please name some retail stores in which I can buy DHD in London? Not using online stores
The DHD has far better specs than the SGS. Until someone tests the new Nexus S against the SGS & DHD no-one is the wiser.
Hopefully Samsung fixed all the issues with the SGS when making the Nexus S, otherwise you've just got baking hot Android on a really poor handset.
Nexus S is only pre order it won't be in stored anytime this year.

Yes it will, december 16th for UK and 20th for US. Other countries I don't know.
Before the Nexus S was announced I was excited and thought I will be buying it as my next device.
Now that its been announced i am dissapointed to say the least. All it is is a samsung galaxy s with a NFC chip and gyro sensor. I also just found out that it doesn't come with a sd card slot which is unacceptable . The only good thing about the samsung is the S Amoled screen. The build quality on the samsung is poor and cheap.
The desire HD wins hands down for me, with its beautiful design and gorgeous big screen .
Hope this helps .

Nexus S is available on the 16th of December.
however dhd is a spec wise better phone ie more ram 2nd gen snapdragon ect...
however the nexus S is a developer phone you get updates and support from google and its designed to be a reference hence the todays average specs nfc chips front camera ect....
personally id just by the dhd and use a 2.3 stock rom that will no doubt be released soon
as for waiting for dual core android phones ...well if the nexus S is the new reference phone for devs then chances are that our dhd's will be viable till the next dev reference after the nexus S
ethe DHD has higher specs, 720p video recording against 480p, 8MP cam against 5MP, 768RAM against 512, dual flash against one, 4.3 inch screen against 4, metal unibody construction against light plastic, real pixel density against virtual
the nexus S pluses feature better screen coating, much better view angles and deeper blacks but pentile matrix virtual density, frontal cam, NFC & gyro, better battery, less cell radiation and ofcourse enjoyable official OS support
both feature similar processors at 45nm 1GHZ, the DHD processor is optimised can be easily OCed to 1.5, both have great GPUs, the S gpu stronger in theory
the nexus S feels refined and subtle, the DHD is a badass big daddy
looking at the nexus S its clear the DHD is already HTC's answer, I expect them to announce 2.3 soon

Just my 2 cents tho - in theory the SAMOLED and the coating give the Nexus S an advantage ( the blacks, the viewing angles, the power drain ). What they don't tell you is that in practice:
how much "blacker" can it get? trust me u got enough black on DHD to racially abuse it
The viewing angles on DHD are already ~160. I don't know how u hold ur phone but even 130 would be pretty much enough for me
And the less power consumption only counts if "black pixels" prevail in what u got on the display. Read : if u browse/read a book/have a light wallpaper it eats the battery for brunch (consumption is almost twice as high as SLCD)
They're really two completely different phones for different kinds of people. I will have both phones in the house so it's no biggie. But the nexus s gpu is superior and the phone has the benefit of full google support. As an android enthusiast I rate that support highly.

yes me too my wife wanted the desire Z badly but now im convincing her with the Nexus S, the design plus weight is a little female
however i still feel the DHD is better, regarding the GPU we are yet to see a game that performs better on the galaxy S, lots of the sexy stuff in gingerbread we already have in the new sense if not better like copy paste functionality, i also found this interesting the nexus S got rid of the touchpad and has the speaker output at the bottom just like the DHD
as for super amoled, i had a desire amoled and it pissed the hell out of my eyes, i'm a graphics artist and the pentile grid just drove me mad, that was on a smaller 3.7 inch screen, i'm sure at 4.0 the situation is even worse
i wear glasses, sometimes the amoled screen looked so high res and sometimes it looked low, 1 pixels outlines looked doted, its just a silly solution and compared to retina it fails bad in pixel density
if the DHD had the sexy SLCD like the classic desire/Z it would have won hands down in my eyes

This is a hell of a badass statement! I will use it, if you allow me to.
And the point you make about the black/white backgrounds and S AMOLED screen is true. You just forgot to say, to the S Amoled advantage, that it has better contrasts too.
f.
we can't simply fool ourselves and deny the advantages of amoled like the infinite contrast, extreme angles and in case of super amoled the sunlight visibility
however equally reviewers can't just go and shout super amoled wooohoooo, both amoled and super have the active matrix grid, which give it much less pixel accuracy then the stated specs, ie its not 235ppi like they state
just put any amoled device next to slcd device or iphone 4 or even the DHD and you will see what i mean, the definition on amoled is fuzzier
also samoled had extreme colours saturation which isn't accurate but we don't know if this is the case with the nexus S
IPS LCDs or super LCDs are the best solution if you ask me

Maybe the nexus s will get cyanogenmod too. Cyanogen does not officially support any Samsung at this stage, but that may change since the s is a dev phone.
Personally I don't give a flying **** for the samsung. Spec wise there is not much difference but the chitty plastic shell and lack of an sd slot make the nexus s a fail in my book.

i'm feeling a little betrayal from google, after all it was the hero and htc's efforts that made android so popular
really interested to know the details of this google nexus deal
i think you will find its not something major for example the dev android tablet is a motrola one which was demoed the other day, i think you will find android is spreading its dev devices over the differnt manufacturers and not favoriting manufacturers.
i guess it kinda highlets their openness ?
yes i agree they can't favor a manufacturer
Samsung is a more widely known manufacturer. Its only recently that HTC started selling devices under the HTC brand name. Most would end up as a carrier branded handset.
This is a thread to share our thoughs on how would we like our next G2 device to be.
I would love another htc G1 sequel, I'm really feeling these new metal designs, htc keep it up. Would love a G3 with near the same design as the G2 and similar to the htc surround with an 3.8 screen, these are the 2 htc designs I love the most. Also the trackpad should be kept with the design, an 8 megapixel cam wouldn't sound bad either and the same hinge design, except with a loose one, make this one tight htc LOL. Btw I been hearing they fixed the hinge already in the newer batches this year not that I care but I been hearing that a lot.
So what you guys think?

Would love a G3 with near the same design as the G2 and similar to the htc surround with an 3.8 screen, these are the 2 htc designs I love the most. Also the trackpad should be kept with the design, an 8 megapixel cam wouldn't sound bad either and the same hinge design, except with a loose one, make this one tight htc LOL. Btw I been hearing they fixed the hinge already in the newer batches this year not that I care but I been hearing that a lot.
So what you guys think?

I would love to have a G3 but in a 4.3screen and frontal camera and capable speed of 21mps...
I'd like it to print money, grant up to 3 wishes, be indestructible, and turn into a jet and take me to an island it builds.

Yea with the keyboard tho cuz a G3 without a keyboard is not a G3 LOL about the 4.3 I doubt it cuz if its a keyboard phone the screen wouldnt go as big as 4.3 especially htc, cuz imagine how heavy would it be lol and that's the only thing I dislike about the G2

Not a bad idea imagine if a phone could do that! Id be the happiest man on earth lmao
What about a completely metal phone? Absolutely everything, even the keys on the keyboard.

To be honest. I think the G2 from a design standpoint is one of the best. My imaginary G3 would have:
The same type of aluminum design, but as thin as it can be
A Five-row keyboard (number keys!)
A front-facing camera for video chat
4 inch Super AMOLED 2 display (perfect size, not too big, but definitely not small)
A Dual-Core or Quad-Core processor (we should have Quad-Core phones by next year)
An upgraded rear camera with 1080p recording with a good audio codec (not the crap that comes in all HTC phones now that sounds like a metal in a washing machine)
Stereo Speakers (the iPhone has had it for years)
At least 16GB of internal memory (and of course an external microSD slot)
Thoughts? It sounds impossible, but by the end of next year (which would follow the G-Series' two year cycle), this would be VERY possible.
TBH I dislike super amoled I wish they keep the slcd on the G3 because its sharper than Samoled and proven to be. Only thing better is the blacks which are by far the blackest blacks I've seen on a screen but the colors are way too bright/vivid, reds look like they are bleeding.
Slcd colors are much more natural than Samoled
Samoled blacks are blacks not dark grey like on slcd
Amoled has ok color just a little too deep and unatural like the Samoled but better than Samoled IMO
Take a look at the comparison of the 3 and tell me that's not true

I'd like a dual core to save battery a bit plus some speakers on the qwerty kb like the htc surround. More metal would be nice too...

Talking about battery when do you think technology will be so advance that they'll make phones last days with full charging? Imagine a phone that can last 2 days!!! now that'll be nice
Better camera for low light.
more internal usable memory.
dual core
21mps or even by then 42mbps.
i don't use the track pad at all.
slightly bigger lcd.
maybe 1500 or 1800 battery capacity.( save us money from upgrading)
included sd card higher than class 2.
Who are we kidding its probably going to be another year till we see it.
g1 in 2008
g2 2010

I doubt that look at the mytouch 3g line the G2 series could easily get updated like that, but i would prefer to wait longer, makes you get more use out of the phone make it a more worthwhile purchase.

yea true. Maybe that is their secret plan. to release the phone just in time for g1>g2>g3 owners to upgrade.

A five-row keyboard definitely is my own number one with a bullet. The four-row is maddening, given the useless www/com key, and lack of a hard pipe or gt/lt key due to repurposing for the lack of the number row and no way to remap that I've found so far. Using it to SSH into servers for remote maintenance is an exercise in frustration. Actually tempting to swap out for a Nexus S just for that, despite the cheap-plastic feel.
Front-facing camera would be great; a dual or quad core processor as well. Docking station pads and a magnetic sensor would be nice (as from the N1). NFC would be good for futureproofing, though not too useful right now. A better speaker on the back (at least a *bit* less tinny) would be nice... constantly concerned about blowing mine out if my headset drops connection during the middle of a loud music track.
Oh, and a wifi antenna design that doesn't drop 30dB off the SNR when you hold the left side in landscape mode.
I would like the next HTC device to have 8 cores running at 10 zetaherts each, 10 zetabytes of RAM, 10 GTX 485's in SLI, have download speeds up to 4 zbps and have the magical ability to turn into a giant spaceship.

Yea keep dreaming!
Hopefully it'll have @ least a 4" screen, way more memory & a better hinge system. Most likely it'll have dual core processors so it should be interesting.
Sent from my CyanogenMod powered G2.
everybody wants it to be faster, bigger (memory), better. But I didn't encounter any slow downs within apps with the g2/desire-z. So faster and bigger isn't one of my priorities. I would like it to be faster, more memory and stuff but the biggest problem I have with the current g2 is the battery life. Everything is fine and adequate but the battery life is terrible. I can not use the phone as much as i would like because of the battery life. When i travel (3 hours round trip) i can not use the phone for the full 3 hours because of this but i would like to. They should build a phone and a battery that can withstand 10 hours of intensive use on one battery cycle. I would like that a lot. or at least double the battery life. Then it would be adequate.
despite of it's faults, i still love my desire-z, I used a lot of different phones, Iphone 3g/4, samsung galaxy s, desire, but i like the desire-z way better..
http://phandroid.com/2011/05/17/rumor-samsung-hercules-is-a-4-5-inch-dual-core-beast-for-t-mobile-but-it-isnt-a-galaxy-s-ii/
Samsung Hercules is a 4.5 Inch Dual-Core Beast for T-Mobile, But It Isn’t a Galaxy S II
NO MORE COMPLAINING ABOUT GETTING ANDROID UPDATE after Global SGSII because it is a different phone
+ 4.5-inch 480 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display
+ Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
+ NFC support, though compatibility with the forthcoming ISIS mobile payment standard is "to be determined"
+ Category 24 HSDPA (42Mbps) and Category 6 HSUPA (5.76Mbps) for extremely fast HSPA+ support -- faster than any HSPA+ phone currently sold in the US
+ AWS plus 850 / 1900MHz compatibility for support on AT&T’s "4G" network if the merger succeeds
+ Preliminary measurements place it at 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches -- within a few hundredths of an inch of the Infuse
+ 16GB internal ROM, 1GB internal RAM, external microSD up to 32GB
+ Here’s where it outdoes the Infuse: it’s quoted with a Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core APQ8060 application processor, which is extraordinarily unusual for a Samsung -- particularly considering the availability of Samsung’s own multi-core Exynos line; it’s paired with an MDM8220 modem processor
8 megapixel primary camera with flash and 1080p video capture, secondary front-facing camera
+ Like the Galaxy S II, the Hercules won’t have a dedicated HDMI port -- it’ll move high-def video over Micro USB using MHL
The hercules phone does look nice but Is there any definite answer that we arent getting the sg2???
Love it. Now it REALLY won't be compatible with the international Galaxy S II ROMs which are sure to come in the future! Brilliant! And why is the different processor listed as an "improvement?"
Aws :O

Ready to Trade In your Vibrant for this BABY ??? T-Mobile got you covered
http://www.androidcentral.com/t-mobile-wants-you-them-paying-you-make-it-happen
Up to $300 in cash for your used phone . Assuming Vibrant is T-Mobile Flagship phone, we might get $300 in CASH. GREAT !!!
I just hope its audio capabilities is at least as good as the vibrant (voodoo sound or similar capable).
a bigger pos vibrant... No LED Notifications, ****ty processor, ****ty resolution SAMOLED screen... wtf
Looks pretty cool but i'm not sold on qualcom's cpu/gpu's yet. I'd want to see how the sensation performs in the real world before even considering this. Plus how good does 480x800 resolution look when stretched out to 4.5 inches?

The vibrant may be aging a little bit, but it's definitely no POS. Why all the hate?
Yeah I also think 4.5 inches with the SAME resolution as the 4.0 Vibrant is a BIT too big. If they are going with such screen size, at least try to double or 1.5x the pixel resolution. I think I'mma get an international SGS2 when prices settle a bit lower. I don't use 3G anyway.
so does anyone know the definite answer if we are getting a sg2 and this or no sg2??

Get a HTC for your LED Notification. Why complaining ??? It's your choice to get the Vibrant and the whole world knows it does not have LED Notification.

Why complain that Samsung is releasing a "new" phone that's missing basic or "new" features? I haven't said anything against the vibrant maybe you need to reread. I'm content with my vibrant. Love the screen. Would love to have a 4.5 inch SAMOLED phone with a higher resolution to match, a notification led, working gps, dual core processors, 3D cameras, a metal frame, a kick stand, and a battery that doesn't die every 6 hours. This "new" phone is not it.
I'm for technological progress, not releasing "new" things with subpar attributes.
Super amoled plus .. not the same display as the vibrant ... same as the sg2 .. its dual core...

Congratulations. I hope you have fun with your ****ty EVO 3D which will match every single one of your requirements, including that ****ty battery life and a gimmick called 3D on a PHONE. And where have you been? The snapdragon mentioned is a dual core, just not a ARM A9. But then again, you'll be too lost in your ****ty battery life and constantly trying to find a charger to plug in your EVO 3d to even care.

Retard i said nothing about a EVO 3D. I was describing what a new phone in 2011 should look like. And gimmick... just because you can't afford a 3D tv doesn't mean the rest of the world can't. EVO 3D's don't have SAMOLED screens either.
I didn't say the snapdragon wasn't a dual core either. Man you need to go back to grammar school so you can relearn how to read.

Congratulations for reading your own post. If you rephrased it correctly, you could have stated "Along with the dual core processor and the 4.5 inch SAMOLED PLUS screen, I would prefer that Samsung incorporated a higher resolution (already did with SAMOLED Plus and the ridding of pentile), a notification LED, a better GPS, 3D cameras, and a metal frame and kickstand (both useless as they dent and add no useful function unless you can't hold your own device, while increasing the weight of the device).
And funny, as the specs you mentioned correspond almost directly to the EVO 3D.

Yes, in YOUR opinion. Not everyone wants a brick device in their pockets, or a 3D camera as opposed to the better Samsung 8 megapixel camera, and not everyone needs a 3D function that will only drain battery further and add price to the device.
And to your 3D comment, I find no use for 3D whatsoever. It only wastes your eyesight even faster than a normal screen. I would much prefer my 56 inch Samsung LED TV. Funny how you mention how I can't afford anything, as I live in Southlake, Texas, one of the cities in the U.S. with the highest incomes per capital.

Brick device? Where do you get that from. Why not have 2 Samsung 8 megapixel cameras? Why not have 2 Samsung 12 megapixel cameras with swapable lenses? How does having a 3D function deminish battery life? And add to the price? These are $600-700 phones, if these are TOP OF THE LINE phones **** price. I wouldn't buy a ferrari if i was afraid of the price, it's a ferrari.

Because metal would only add weight?
As for the camera, two would again only add size and weight.
3D would require the screen to use more power to display those gimmick 3D effects.
Manufacturers will continue to add those useless functions on a phone and increase the prices for those functions. My Vibrant was 500 off contract without tax, T-Mobile will only increase the price on these new phones with these useless functions. For example, the Droid Charge runs at 300 on contract as opposed to the normal 200.
