Hi Guys
I've followed Dark Tremor's flashing procedure and i can see a fair amount of A2SD storage using a Storage info widget....however when i install a program it doesn't seem to install it to the SD card...how can i tell what's going on?
You have to choose to install it to internal memory.
Thanks for the reply.....I don't get an option when I install an app tho?
What Rom are you running?
If you're using a custom ROM, use the ROM's Spare Parts and see if there is an option there to force everything to go on SD or on internal memory. If there is - choose "internal memory".
If not - just go to Settings/Applications/SD Card and move everything you find there back to the phone. Also look in DarkTremor's thread to find the switches you need to use when running a2sd to make the internal memory default storage location.
And understand that as far as the phone is concerned, you're moving nothing on SD card. EXT partition is not recognized by the phone as storage option, but everything that went to /data/app goes on EXT. Please spend the time and search the forums, the ways to check that DarkTremor's Apps2SD is in use were discussed many times and in many places.

Thanks for the info...I did indeed search but didn't find an answer as concise as the one you just provided...thanks again.
Hello everyone,
I would like to know if there any Rom at the moment that uses the Internal SD memory ?
I really don't see the point of having an external SD Card just for the camera (and maybe other apps like the market), when we have a 2GB Internal Memory :S...
For me this is the most important reason why I can't use a Custom Rom since i don't have and SD Card free (I have only one and I need it for my G1 :S)...
Isn't there anyway to fix this ?
Thanks in Advance,
Luis Da Costa

I've never tried Void :S... But I know that Oxygen and CM7 don't use the Interna SD as an SD Card for the Market, Gallery and Camera :S...
The only one that allows using the internal memory as an SD Card is the Miui Rom that I've been using for a while and I really enjoy it (even if I prefer an Original Android Rom) ^^
Oxygen and MIUI are now using internal storage also.
Well.. Oxygen can't connect internal memory to PC so it gets hard to transfer files (But you can acccess HWUserData within the phone).
MIUI just flat out won't read HWUserData but will allow PC to connect to it.
Because of the issues above I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16371582&postcount=376 until my SD-card gets to me through the mail.

All roms that uses HWUserData do not allow to use the Camera or the Album without an external memory card :S....
The tweaked stock ROM I linked saves images properly. Use that if you are looking for a decent, stable ROM that allows for use of internal memory properly.
In miui you can use the internal sdcard, you need to set it in x5 settings.
Also you should be able to access it normally from /HWUserdata and also /mnt/emmc even if you've got it set to external. The apps aren't designed to work with two sdcards though, with the exception of the gallery app.

Could you tell me where i can find the settings? It's not under SD card settings or About Phone sections.
Update: Damn I feel stupid. It was an app under homescreen and I completely missed it while I was bumbling through the settings menues.

And this is Why I am using MIUI and I love it ^^
EVERY 2.3 ROM uses internal, you can choose this in settings. Best for me is CM7. Oxygen is buggy cause it don't mount internal memory to windows after attaching usb, so CM7 is best for battery life and overall
Hey guys, hoping you could could give me more of a 'step-by-step' guide on how to expand my internal memory with my 8gb SD card. Please keep it mega-simple, I only got this phone yesterday, and managed to flash ICS thanks to a very basic tutorial.
Thanks

?? What ROM r u using ??
The easiest way is using application or script that move application to SD card. These things will move your application to your sd card and not wasting your internal memory. it's work perfectly fine.
There are many script available - chose one that match your ROM cause not all script are working perfectly to every ROM.
try search using A2SD and ....... (your ROM) to see which one work and which one donot...... Unfortunately i have to tell u that some script might working well with someone's phone (even u have the same ROM).
The second way is to install the app to SD program, like link2sd, app2sd... it's free on the market. Also this program is not working on everyone's phone. However it's easier to install.
after install script and application there might be a problem like low sound, lag, internet issue etc. so check that everything is Ok after u do anything.
I can't give u a step by step 'cause i dont know which ROM r u using.....

it's different for roms indeed. generally we have app2sd, app2sd+(aka app2ext), data2ext, d2sd, ad2sdx and so on.
the most basic and convenient 1 is link2sd from play store~
i think it's impossible to expand an internal storage. capacity is fixed. i read somewhere that some of space will be used for kernel and ROMs wil use another some of internal memory space to copy system files. so normally you will have internal memory available around 150-200MB depends on partition layout you make. the only way if you want to install many application is as mentioned above to move your application to SDcard, and i think link2sd app is the easiest way to do that
I installed Aurora ICS 4.0.4 on my ideos x5. First i installed "aurora_5.0_experimantal" and then used "aurora_5.0_update20". Everything seems working good but when i remove my external sd card, my phone is not using internal memory for save data. it is asking external sd card to save any data. i.e save screenshot, save picture, recording etc. Did i do something wrong when i was installing rom?
Aurora doesn't support use the internal storage for system datas
Internal memory on our phone is not meant to be used that way. If you want to use it, the ROM you are using must have that functionality.

hi,
I am on a rooted 900w s5 and I'm trying to move apps to the system partition. Mainly, Im trying to move viper to stop it from turning off and on constantly when installed as user. When I try to do this and reboot, the app disappears. Only flashing the app from recovery works but then i get issues with the convolver in viper not working. Permissions are all set correctly too.
Any solutions?
Thanks
Hi!
I 've used Link2SD to do what you want.
I had done this manually in LP , but something changed in MM. I haven't found out the difference because I've used Link2SD and it is easier
Not working for me. Nothing seems to be working
The only way to install apps on system its using a zip file and flashing it from recovery to add those apps on system dir
if you are on Marshmellow, DONT EVEN THINK OF LINK2SD!!!!! _ (it will mess your internal & external Storage. yu'll need to flush stock os again).
the changes between MM & LP are mainly to the Storage Permissions.
Samsung disabled the option to move or link apps and their DATA to EXTERNAL!!!!
THOUGH..... there is an AWESOME App Called: "ROOT ESSENTIALS"
this is how you do it: (in case your premissions is not messed up)
in "root essentials" choose the storage tab and then format your Ext' SD as "Internal Storage". This way you will have all your storage as Internal (up to 256GB)
you can also choose how much % you want to allocate from your Ext' SD to be Internal, And how much leave as External.
-
This is the Only Good Solution I found on S5 6.0
p.s.
I just formatted all as INTERNAL and now my phone have 140GB as Internal (everything is handled as admin!!!)

How is that any different than what marshmallow can already do? Unless you can actually access the sd card when taking it out, it's the exact same.

Thanks for this but I dunno if this will solve my problem. My problem is mainly with viper4android crashing and staring up again (turning off and on) while listening to music. It happens when I install it as a user app which I have to do to get the convolver and field surround to work. To get it to stop crashing I moved the app to /system/priv-app and rebooted. I can't do that on my s5 MM. When I reboot the app disappears. LOL
I'll try your method and see if it works.

its not perfect but, if you do 50% as internal and 50% as External.... you will be able to access those 50% external from any machine (will req' a fat sd to enjoy space)
or
Downgrade from Marshmallow.

Hi
I Can tell what I did.
First data: I have a S5 900H Dualcore. Marshmallow 6.0.1 and it was impossible to mount the second partition using Link2SD I always got an error. So as described in this forum. I downloaded from Play Store the APK Root Essentials, and chosed the tab Adopted or Emulated Memory (I have this APP in spanish and I do not know how is displayed in english) a new window appears indicating taht the SD will be formated, I accepted it, the APP began the process and ask me to download from Play store a plugin to continue the process.
Downloaded the plugin directly in my cell, I flashed it (the plugin is in zip format, my cell is root and has Teamwin recovery) the cell reboot automaticaly and again I opened the Root Essentials, thats all. Whit this same APP you now may choose to move your APPs to the SD card.
Opening the system to see how is my phone now I found that Memory is 49.73 GB used to a total of 64GB (I do not know why those numbers because my Cell has 16GB internak and other 16GB External SD maybe some one may explain this) Anyway it is saying my cell memory has now 64 GB
Internal Memory 16 GB--External SD 16 GB. You cannot find that your internal memory is bigger than before because those ar the phisycally configuration BUT now your phone added the Extrnaal SD to the Internal Memory and works like a unique one.
There is another method you may try and it is using Xposed Apk, it has a module that make the same and links the ext SD with the internal memory. I saw that it works well. I cannot try it because I never could install Xposed App in this cell I alway got an error.
Hope this may help you. Regards!
Thnak you.
So i did not flush the plugin.
How did you flush it please?
Using odin or recovery mode? (and what did you choose? Update?)
Thank you
Does anyone actually have a solution to my issue?

so, you really got me motivated to sort this out. (not about our dear thread opener though i hope he'll fin the answer, but regarding the sd as internal).
i did not quite on Root Essentials and investigated some more. happy to say i found a solution for S5 G900F, Android arshmallow 6.0.1.
this is what i did:
1. Root The Device
2. Install Root Essentials
*note*: there is a plugin file that we need to flush using RootEssentilas, but we will be asked to do so only after : Adopting, and the Revertring. (on reverting we'll be asked to flush the plugin). So....
3. Adopt the Sd. (Adopt the whole 100%)
4. you will be asked to Reboot, so do so
5. after rebbot, go to "Adopt SD" tab again, AND NOW "REVERT" the Process.
* Now you will be Given Ifo To Download the Plugin and Flush it USING ROOT ESSENTIALS FLASHER TAB!
(you would be also asked to Backup System and such, I DID IT maybe 10 Times But NEVER BACKED UP ANYTHING! so IMO, you can skip the backup).
6. Download the PlugIn
7. In RootEssentilas goto "TOOLS" tab and then the "FLASHER" tab, Click "Flash Zip File" and then choose the Downloaded File to flush it.!
8. After Flashing the Plugin Restart your Device
9. NOW ADOPT the SD _ (i have 64gb, I choose 50% so ill be able to connect my phone to Pc and Still Get the other 50% to move Files from Pc to Phone)
***IMPORTANR*** _ YOUR PC WILL NEVER LOAD THE ADOPTED SD!!!! (so if you did 100% from 64GB you will see Only the Real Phisical Phone Storage, on S5 its either 16GB or 32GB)
SO Choose 50% !
10. After Adopting the SD, goto "STORAGE" tab on RootEssentilas , And then goto "APP INSTALL LOCATION" and Choose INSTALL ON SD!! (SAVE)
11. Now install all your games and favorite apps (regullary!)
*****************************************
Now come the important Step
******************************************
12. in RootEssentilas goto "ADOPTABLE STORAGE" tab and then goto "MIGRATE DATA" tab. Click on Migrate Data,
Now pay Atention:
CHOOSE THE SD CARD That Was ADOPTED!!! _ (if you did 50%, the you will have 2 Sd Crads, one as Portable, And second wil be Writen As Oly "SD Card" Which is the Adopted AS Internal, So choose IT)!
after choosing the Adopted SD, Look On the Upper Right For the Three Dots of the Settings, clikc them for Settings and choose "MIGRATE DATA".
Let the Device to its trick, it will move anything it can.
you will see that your Orginal Internal Storage has more free space then Before the Migrate, And that the ADoptabe Storage Is getting Filled!.
thats it my Friends.
Hope This Help Someone.
if ill Do it again, Ill Make sure to Video it.
Specials Thanks for those Hard Core, Digging Friends that gave the the motivation to keep on.
thnka you.

CORRECTED. I Unistalled the adopted memory because I did not like the readings I get. I reinstalled it and now I am getting the correct reading 49.76 GB in use a total of 64GB. The problem I am encountering now is that sometimes the cell reboots.

I got this installed and mostly working I think. Device storage says Internal Storage is 16GB and SD Card is 64GB (I assigned that). Then the portable storage is 120GB from the rest of my 200GB SD. So it's working, though the SD Card in Device Storage is barely full and internal storage is almost full!
