Me too +1 here, its super fast, faster than ipad2 , and has whole lot of fun features now hope to see a stable version to play all the games

Here's mine just as a point of comparison. I'm running Thor's v96.

I have the face lock settings. But i am NOT using it. I set it up the flashed the acer ring. I like the lock screen ring over the face lock.. I hardly ever lock my tablet. I Think for the most part ics is great. the browsers are much lacking CHROME Will often end up dead at a black screen with more then a few tabs open with text tearing. Stock browers has artifacts and some tearing with the same text issues as chrome.. I think the issue is that acer does not have hardware acceleration tweaked correctly. if at all for applications. it seems the browsers are lagging not the os. as in the past it seemed to me it was android.

Hey Erica, I swear that I remember reading somewhere that Chrome and ICS are not the best of friends. Google is working on making their browser more ICS friendly but it's not there yet.

I think I remember reading that chrome only works on ics....

You are both correct. it only works. WELL KINDA WORKS.. do not get me wrong ITS MAD FAST Compared to stock honeycomb browser. But for me it seems to give me a black screen just at the MOST WRONG TIME EVER. GRRRRRRR. yes frustrating. The stock browser in my opinion is more stable then chrome.but this is from 2-3 days using ICS. it could change.
Thanks guys.

Good words for the thread! I am aware of Androids operating techniques. I am looking for the rom that from boot runs on the least ram. With no apps going except required apps. Thus leaving more RAM for all of your other desires We are well aware(most) that we have a dual core tegra 2 tab with limitations since tegra 3 is about to drop into stores everywhere... we still have a powerful device and anyway I can free up some space from the start, I will take I like minimalist roms... as well as fully loaded. ICS is proving to be troublesome for random people and I want to be one of the ones that says, "Oh... no SOD here. Just smooooooth butter."

This is totally true . The screen shot i provided was Right after flashing the rom NO Email accounts set up. or nothing.
Android Os lets things sit in memory but sorta static it shows them taking up valuable ram. This allows them to use less cpu cycles to wake up PREVENTING Ram and cpu spikes. Thus using less resources and battery consumption. Yes i nknow techie guys this is not totally exact explanation but its a quick and easy one. With the basic concept.
I will add the above is the reason why task managers that Auto kill aggressively will fight with the android built in memory management. Thou they are good for trouble shooting apps that are rogue.
Sorry if this turned off topic just my screen shot being a fresh install was not totally accurate now im averaging 301 to 320s and it looks to be the average .

Interesting knowledge.

I'm probably not alone in watching this thread with interest...I'm looking forward to ICS, while admittedly happy with 3.2.1. I'm looking less at memory use than I am at stability; since moving to the almost-stock-yet-rooted Honeycomb, I've had close to zero problems I didn't create for myself.
For me, changing ROMs (I often wonder how the OS image got the nickname ROM, which means read-only and implies flashing to EEPROM to old guys like me) is something of a PITA, since there's much about stock Android I rip out by the roots (including Market, BTW, so everything on my tablet is sideloaded), which makes me want to do it once and get to the most stable. So for those of you brave enough to leap into ICS before us, keep posting those reports!

I'm on stock ICS AV041_A500_019

I currently am running Icylicious 4.0.3, works awesome. Really a lot faster then before, I was starting to get frustrated with the lag in between pages... but it's better now! Love the rom, nothing's really wrong with it. Fixed dhcp drop as well as a weird problem I was having with my headphone jack when I'd plug my headphones in (had honeyvillain kernel before.) But yeah works great now! No face-unlock that I could find, but didn't really want it anyway.

[REVIEW][ROM]Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 1.0 “Welcome to Win!”

I've done my best at a review, and here's the result. Also here's a link to the site in case you want higher res screenshots or see any of my other work. LINK
The Motorola XOOM, it's the original Honeycomb tablet and, to me, still the best. But that's a discussion for another day. Today I'll be giving the first ROM for the Xoom a thorough walk-through. It's Team Tiamat's Xoom ROM 1.0, some of the features include Tiamat's kernel version 1.4.4 with the cpu clocked at a staggering 1.7Ghz, Desktop UA string and CRT Screen Off Animations.
First off since Google hasn't released Honeycomb's code (yet?) you won't see anything too extreme in this ROM outside of the overclock, which if you missed it before is at a whopping 1.7Ghz per core, (and there's two of them...lol). As far as the installion goes it's pretty straight forward you can head over to XDA for the full instructions. But all you have to do is make sure you're rooted, unlocked and have CWM installed, you can then grab all the necessary files and flash as you would any other ROM.

One feature included in this ROM that I love is the battery percentage in the notification bar, which you can see in the screenshot above. (By the way shout out to Fahrbot Mobile for making Screenshot ER which is the app I use to take all of the screenshots you see here) For those not familiar with Tiamat's kernel I want you to know that it does more than just turn your Xoom into a speed demon. It also adds SD card support, no thanks to guys at Moto, the ability to overclock the GPU, USB tethering and USB mass storage mode. The ROM also supports themes, like the one I have (BigDX Xoom|Zoom Theme).
Outside of the changes I mentioned above the ROM is pretty straightforward, it doesn't add too many additional apps only Quickboot, Estrongs File Explorer, and the Flash Player that allows you to watch Hulu. Other than that it's completely deodexed, zip aligned and adds the cool CRT Screen Off Animation thats found on the Nexus S. The Desktop UA string mod which allows you to see full sites instead of mobile in the stock browser and lastly it's got USB Mass Storage enabled so you can plug USB flash drives into your Xoom.
Now I want to give you my personal opinion on a few things about this ROM, one is that the battery life is phenomenal. I didn't think the Xoom's battery life could get any better but alas it did and I couldn't be happier. I also love how fast and smooth it is, BRD has taken a good thing and made it even better, launching apps and swiping from screen to screen is near instant. All in all, if you've got Honeycomb v3.1 installed on your Xoom this is the ROM to try, it's fast, has rock solid stability and excellent battery life. Team Tiamat's Xoom ROM has some great features included and makes an already stellar device that much better.
K guys that's my review, any feedback is appreciated. Also if you have any questions about the ROM feel free to ask and I'll try to answer for you guys.
Excellent review. Thank you for posting this!

So is Tiamat xoom 1.4.4 a different ROM? How come you have focussed on 1.0?
Sounds very tempting anyway.

No, there's only one ROM right now. What you're looking at is the kernel. And that Kernel is included in the ROM.

Disable ad blocker
Does any one know if there is a built in ad blocker in tiamat. I am on tiamat 1.1 and i am trying to enable ads due to an old issue with medscape and updates that are unsuccessful due to adblockers.
I stopped and force closed every ad block program , stopped their super user access and i still cant get ads again on my xoom .
Thank you in advance

No, the rom doesn't contain any ad blockers.

Three-way ROM comparison - Transformer

All,
I've been trying to decide what rom to use on my transformer, so I took a look at the three roms: Revolver 3.2.1, Revolution HD 1.2.2, and Prime 1.9.
I used the basic information in each of their threads, and looked back through each of their change logs to get the data for this spreadsheet.
Take a look, and if changes need to be made, let me know.
Asus Transformer ROM Comparison (Google Docs)
Thanks for doing this! Been wanting to update, but not sure which to go with.
Googledocs is blocked at my work, but I'll definitely be looking at this tonight.

That's exactly why I gathered the info. It's kind of difficult to assess which ROM is better based on screenshots and manually switching between threads. I'm currently running Revolution, but based on what I've found, Prime may be the way to go.
Are you sure that Revolver 3.5 isn't adfree? Looking at the hosts file you can notice quite a lot addresses being redirected to localhost
Revolver is adfree..
Revolver has an option to automatic battery calibration and mobile data in his Revolver Parts app!
Revolution was updated
Prime too

No offense to the op but the comparison is useless without actual long term experience with the roms. Revolver is way more stable and smoother than the other two. I dont care what the spec sheets say. I care more for experience and practicality.
I honestly can't tell the difference between prime and revolver on stability. I switch between them after a couples of testing when they release a new one. Gave up on revolution long ago. They are all based of the same asus rom so unless the dev does something really bad then there will not be much different except for looks.
I did more than just test. Ive benen using them in practical situations. I know they all are based on stock but revolver is way smoother.

I think he means instead of benchmarking and stability tests etc he actually uses them in everyday situations where faults and bugs are prone to show.
Atleast i think thats what he meant there both a way of testing but i guess he feels one is better than the other?

ive stuck with Revolver aswell. the Revolver parts is a nice addition and the extra support with the otas.
Prime was similar in running so it was just the extras on Revolver that swayed me.
If anyone of them could fix the browser bugs (blocky page loads in particular) then it would put them clear of the rest. I know Opera doesnt do it but its way to slow to load. Not any of the devs faults but its frustrating.

Opera first load all the data of the site, after that it displays it. That`s why it is behaving slow. Stock browser loads the data while you are viewing it, that are the blocks you are talking about. So, it is not a bug, Opera is not slower than stock browser, it is behaving an other way.
Its not a bug, it's a feature

Benchmarking, stability tests, etc. tells you nothing about how the rom will act in practical situations in everyday life. This is why I generally don't do these tests. I would flash a rom and then use it for a couple weeks, sometimes trying to push it to its limits.
Revolver really is much more stable and runs smoother than the other two roms. In fact, opera seems to be behaving in revolver while it would stop logging me in in the other two roms.
Like I said, I don't care about the list of features comparing the 3 roms. And I don't care about benchmark and stability test results. I care about how the rom acts in everyday situation.
These test results and feature comparisons are little better than those unboxing videos. You can't know a product's full potential after spending 2 minutes with it right after you unbox it. That's for ipad 2 users, where you have to lower your IQ by 50 points to use.
What's worse, I've seen unboxing videos where people actually conclude whether a product is good or bad based on a mere 5 minutes "test runs" with the product. Take most of the reviews by tech websites of the transformer, for example. Almost all of them go through their reviews completely ignoring the huge advantage of having the OPTION to turn your tablet into a notebook for productivity. In at least one review, I ever saw the reviewer say "since the ipad 2 doesn't have a keyboard dock, it's not fair to include the transformer keyboard dock in the review..."
Anyway, the point is in order to really know how good a rom is, just flash it and use it for a week or so. These benchmarks and stability tests are almost useless.
Edit.
But then again, since most people think a "public option" means slavery of the American populace, it doesn't surprise me that most people would see the keyboard dock OPTION as asus' way of enslaving the world population. Probably why they keep ignoring the keyboard dock of the TF.
I've used both Revolver and Prime, but I think I actually crashed more in Revolver... granted, that was like Revolver 2.something, but I think Prime is more stable. However, I do like the Revolver OTA update a lot, and I'm probably gonna flash Revolver once I get my new usd card. Prime is working great, though, so I'm not sure if I really wanna go through the trouble.. haha. If only there was one clear winner! Damn the many options!
nice comparison.. just a question, what does Ad-free mean? Do the Prime or Revolver Roms show some kind of Ad?
About bloatware.. what's exactly treated as bloatware? For example, I don't want most of Asus apps, but the mail client or the note taking app included in the latest update are quite nice apps, also the asus mail widget.
I may try it myself, I know... I really wish my B80 was rootable Hope to have it soon.
Stock untouched ROMs have Ad's
These don't - and there is a program called Ad-Free you can use on a Rooted Stock ROM
----
I've read this thread and decided to go for Revolver based on the comments - so far a nice quick smooth bug free ROM
I used to flash custom Windows Mobile ROMs a while back and found every single one had something broken on it and ended up back on stock -but that was porting 6.5 onto 6.1 Mobiles so ...
Although I am liking this ROM and have found no faults, something makes me want 100% stock TF again
I think maybe because it is still brand new..

Just wanted to say thank you. I loaded this ROM this weekend and have really enjoyed using it. Once the kernel issues are resolved, I can definitely see this being y daily use ROM.
ROM KF
Hello, I'm using this rom since several days ago and I really like, the only problem is I can not play videos from youtube, for everything else very well.
good speed
the touch screen works perfect
I think it's the best ROM created for the KF, I hope you continue like this.
Thank you.
Wanted to say thanks for all your hard work on this ROM. I've been following your thread in dev but can't post there yet.
I'd definitely suggest anyone with sod problems underclock following lovejoy777's suggestions; doing so has really improved stability for me (though cpu intensive tasks such as games tend to crash now)
I'd agree with those saying it would be best not to include launchers since you can't uninstall them. I'm using apex myself.
If anyone is interested, Swype works great on here. Would have been, almost a deal breaker for me if it didn't
Do you mind if we ask questions in this thread that haven't been addressed in your dev thread, or would that be best served by a new thread?

Good work. Looking forward to to more customizations in 1.2.
Very Good ROM and you have put a realy good job in it, and I use it now
but there is one problem the device freez several times
and in a diferent situations, sometime it freez when I play games
other times when I browse the Internet, and I try change the CPU mini and max freq
to 600 and 1200 still freez then tried to change to 600 and 1200 then try to change to 600 1080 then to 600 800 and try to chage the gov too, and yet still freez
is there a Solution for this problem it realy disturb me
thank you very much for this development and it realy a good job what you do
and I hope you have a Solution for the freez bug
nice.. will do this afterwork
i Cant post on the development so i will post here.
Any one got Swype working on this ?
mine says something like "screen resolution NOT suported"
by the way your ROM is AWSOME! keep up the good work
I can't remember if you already said it or not, but will you be including the reflective blue soft keys with 1.2, or will you leave it stock? Thanks for the hard work, great ROM

The ROM is beautiful and works very well. Some times the kindle will freeze up and restart, but thats okay. The only thing is adobe flash doesn't work., which results in not being able to watch videos. Even if I download flash from the market it still wont work. That just might be my deal breaker. good work on the rom, though.
EDIT: the flash works but the frequent freeze ups r still a problem

600 min 12000 Max governor on demand for both wake and sleep. Remember that all kindles handle over clocking differently and these settings may not be perfect for you since you may have a different amount of wear down on certain components such as the thermal protection substance etc. These settings seem to work for about 80 percent of the users with this rom. Some can over clock to 1.3 without freezes or reboot but some just can handle it. This setting again work for about 80% of the users I see using this rom.
Hope this helps

programs freeze and apps disappear after reboot
I love this from and have a hard time imagining messing with any others. I only have a few questions... after installing apps and its not one in particular, I will notice that while running some apps it will freeze and I have to reboot. After reboot several apps will no longer work. The icon will still be on my homepage but not n my app drawer. When I click them it will say app isn't installed. Has anyone found this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
ROM quirks, praise
I'm noticing that high-end games are troublesome. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, for one. It just doesn't seem to work. When I use "Hide My Root", Dead Space works, but it's very crashy, and it disappears upon reboot.
That said, I DO love this ROM. It's the most fluid experience of ICS yet. Thanks, dev!
I can't post in the Development Forum yet, but I wanted to say thank you for this ROM. I was occasionally getting the SOD, but I've found turning off wifi if I'm leaving the Kindle for extended lengths of time has eliminated that issue completely.
Freezes up way too much. Went back to stock.

New developer, working on my own custom rom
I have been using this Rom for a week now and have not had one single issue. OC to 13 stays at 13 not resetting,no SoD, no lag,no nothing. Not had any of the problems others have mentioned. Fast , smooth ,looks great. Followed the step by step instructions.I used Twrp to install Rom and gapps. Fantastic job.

Thanks everyone. I hope that in the future this from can become even more stable.
~ BiteBlaze via HTC Sensation
I'll be happy to give it another shot when 1.2 is officially released. I just had continuous freeze ups and SOD everytime I sent it to sleep.
With that said, I am very appreciative of the effort you guys as devs are putting in, and am confident that once the kernel issues are sorted we will have a great little ICS running Fire.
Great Job
Just wanted to echo the other comments and say how great this ROM is. Been running it for only a day, but no issues and vastly superior to stock.
My only issue is the same one Mao_anguita had with Swype saying it has an unsupported resolution. Probably a Swype problem but I'll keep looking at it.
Thanks again for a great job!

Its really nice and fast.
That's great. thanks for share.
My Initial Thoughts
Well I'm extremely annoyed - I was promised a few bugs (OP) and there are none! Drat! I wiped everything within an inch of it's life, then flashed the ROM followed by inverted gapps. I have not had one force close, no burps, no screen flicker, nada, nothing bad in 6 hours of heavy running.
This ROM is as smooth as , well, teflon - easily the equal of any CM10 I have tried. I noted with pleasure the toggles and particularly the "put the screen to sleep toggle" (I like to save mechanical switches whenever possible) and I can never understand why other devs don't include this very simple toggle.
Truth is, I will be using this as my DD on my GTP3113 - I'm not sure that any significant improvement is warranted.
Thanks much to hjkr and the original dev for this great piece of work.

I'll be sure to pass this over to the dev - I flashed this morning, tinkered with some settings, etc. Haven't tried the inverted apps nor tried to drop Jonsels awesome kernel on it - wanted to let the dev know if anything came across this forum, I'd be more than happy to relay over to him, etc.

The camera is borked - I think this true for CM10 generally (no way to exit app) so I d/l'd Camera JB+ and will use that. Only issue so far.

camera's working fine for me
This rom is really nice. I flashed the inverted gapps and after several hours of steady use I haven't even had a stutter. Kangorade was the very first rom I flashed on this tab and this is the only one I've used since with this many features. Amazing job guys. Best alpha ever...

Only major issue I had when I first flashed it was, Superuser was having problems allowing permissions and it froze up once or twice and had to do a hard reboot. But it seems to have settled in now and is playing nice. Froze up a few times initially when using some apps as well Maybe it was a bad flash from AOKP ? who knows ....
Really Impressed with it so far , nice to mess about with and customise that little bit more than you can with AOKP. Pretty cool you can edit build.props ( even though i use Rom Toolbox to do it , but a good feature to have none the less).Themes work well on the ROM.
Apex in landscape is a blessing !!!! Customisable settings menu as well . For the first build its pretty damn good , will be my ROM of choice that's for sure.Cant wait for the next builds to be released.
Only thing that i can fault is when you install an app and the icon is added automatically to your home page it seems to be cut off at the bottom , but deleting the icon and adding it from the app drawer again remedies that problem ( anyone else have that ?) Not sure it that's a problem with Apex as I'm using a theme on it with custom Icons.
On the navigation bar when you add new icons they show as "reflected " in the selection menu but don't seem to work in reality , but I'm making some new ones that you can add pretty much exactly the same as the ones in the ROM with a reflection, anyone wants them send me PM and i will send them over.Got a few more to do but wont take that long.
Apart from that its a sweet ROM ! Loving it big time
Plzzzzzz...........need it for P3100 too...........

You're always left out on these. I was flashing 3100s on my 3113 but obviously mine has no phone function :silly:
I'm digging this so far. Can't seem to find anything wrong except for getting the screen to rotate when using trebuchet. Besides that all is hunky doory. Thanks!

what about some themes? Where can I find different nav buttons and theme colors

Custom roms and lag speed for an artist

Hello, I have a GN10.1 2014 and I was an ex owner of a GN10.1 2012, my question is quite simple, does the custom roms actually get rid of the lag when you draw ? I will be more specific, I didn't had any kind of lag on my old GN and now with the new screen (double the pixels) I have to use the 2x mode to draw smoothly... which mean that it's like drawing with the old one.
That occur with Layerpaint and Layerpaint HD, I own these 2 on the old one and I have to say I barely use them now because of that responsiveness. Sketchbook is cooler but of course (and I guess you noticed) it's zoomed in.
Can anyone confirm that it's getting better by installing a custom rom specifically to draw ? I don't want to lose the warranty (knox), because here now they check if you installed a custom rom or not...
Thanks in advance !

Ive been using both since 4 months, I have to say that I dont see any diference... obviously, if you want your tablet much faster than before, you need to mod your rom, is that why I have a custom rom, modified by me. (Just in a few things)
Is almost like my desktop, I just drawed that faster, without zooming, with my mamboo stylus actually, I prefeer to draw in this tablet than my computer... (just drawing and sketch's)
Greetings!
ROM: xKat 3.0
Kernel: Xluco kernel V1
Nevermind, I found it ~.~ *

if it helps, i am on a custom rom and no lag with snote that i have experienced (have only had this a few weeks). I was recently makin a list of the plugins and various settings for my n64 emulator, for each game i have, and i had both snote and the emulator multiwindowed to make the task easier. Both apps ran well and no lag. Games were still playable and snote very responsive.

yes exactly one in my sig. I use my tab so much that my phone (also in sig) battery life is around 3-4 days. I charge my tab every night though.
For drawing on Note 10.1 2014 edition, I recommend Artflow studio. I get no lag whatsoever using that.

I have just read the posts corresponding to the ROM and Kernel you are using... And I'm convinced! I should install this on my tablet.
But first... Can you please tell me if I should install the kernel first and then the ROM, or is it the other way around?
I don't want to make any mistakes.
Thanks in advance!
You have to turn off the force gpu rendering, ull see a notable change in how smooth it is. Custom rom would help, gets rid of the crapware which eats up system resources and slowing down processor speed overall.

Flash rom see how you like then test out kernels you might want. You want to know the rom is working for you first then you can jump into adding other stuff, you know.
