Screen comes on blank - EVO 4G General

Alot of times when I press my power button, my screen doesn't come all the way on, it would just be a dark screen and the buttons at the bottom light up and once I press the power button again, it turns off but when I try to turn my screen on again, its comes blank again. This happens randomly but alot. Some times I have to sit and keep Turning the screen off and on for 1-2 minutes for it to finally come on and if a call comes thought, I still cant see. I thought it may have been a rom or kernel issue but I've flashed a few different roms and kernels and the issue is still here. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

Hey, me too! I'm running CM7 and the latest Tiamat GB kernel (as of 2/27/2012), as seen in my sig. Does anyone know the root to this problem?

Yes, Ive tried classic rom, mikG and miui and the problem has come up on all 3.

Try doing the whole setup in the thread below. Usually, when I don't do this setup with a clean flash of an aosp rom, I have the same problem.
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702

If you're undervolting at all, try a lighter setting, less of an undervolt

Also try raising your Min CPU speed a little higher

CM7 Incoming Call Screen Issue

I have an EVO, rooted with CM7 final on it. Sometimes when i get an incoming call, i can hear my ringtone and the phone vibrates but the screen stays black, like it doesnt wake up on the incoming call. Kind of hard to answer the phone like that eh? (No im not Canadian, i just figured it would be a great spot for the use of the work "eh").
Anyone have a fix? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Believe that's your kernel
Happens to me.
Press power and power again to get it to wake properly.
I believe the newer tiamat kernels fix this issue. (Don't quote me)
I just flashed to Tiamat_EVO (v.3.3.8). Not sure if that is the one you speak of, but i will post the results of this.
Okay, even though the screen issue did not happen every time, I have noticed improvement. It does not wake up right away and fast, but is showing the answer call screen. Any improvement is good improvement.

I have been having this problem also
any fixes?
Haven't seen the issue yet with Salvage-Mod kernel 2.1
Have not seen on cm7.0.2.1 with Savaged-Zen 2.0.2 either.

Anybody got a fix for this?
This is driving me crazy.
I had the same problem. Thought it was fat chicks calling me and my phone was kindly blocking them. How they got my number I have no idea.
Try changing your minimum frequency to 348. Worked for me

LOLLLL @ phone blocking fat chicks...Lolll
Ok I'll give it that a shot. Are you using interactiveX governor?
Ok yea raising the min frequency definitely solves this problem.
Yeah I've always ran 384 as a minimum on CM7 for that very reason.

I have wayyyyy better battery life with Savaged Zen
This happened to me with Tiamat, Savaged-Zen, G0dM0de, and stock kernels.
I've noticed at random times cm7 fails to kick on the back light. If you look carefully you can tell the screen is on but there's no light. I haven't tried running 384min yet

Wake up lag

Hey, do any of you guys get wake up lag? If i don't wake up my phone for about 3 minutes, and I try and wake it up, it takes a good 3-4 seconds to turn on the screen. is this normal? I am running gingerblur, launcher pro, and a fingerprint sensor, so I don't know if that is what is slowing it down.
yeah its normal i have it too. i returned my atrix for the same reason got the new one right out of the box with the same issue
thanks for the quick reply!! hopefully this will be fixed in a future update...
yep. it got used to it already.
Nope. I have no wakeup lag. I would say that mine takes a fraction of 1 second after I press the power button for the screen to be ready to be unlocked.
are you running everything stock motoblur? and do u have fingerprint setup?
Search button anyone? This topic has been done to death....
3-5 secs lag is too much. I tested this (in 1.86) with//without fingerprint lock, with/without launcher pro, with/without GB 3.5 and although fingerprint and LP seem to add a small lag, no combination that I tested had anything close to 3 secs of lag. The few times I've seen that kind of lag in the couple of months I've owned the phone were far and few between.
Yes, 3 seconds or so is normal, sometimes out doesn't turn on. Tomorrow I'm exchanging for an Infuse.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Don't really have 3 secs, I'd say about 1 or max 2. Go louncher ex removed motoblur widgets, everything else stock and live wallpaper.

Turn off fingerprint sensor and problem solved
I have this problem as well, very annoying. It has happened ever since i first booted it. But its weird, even though the screen is off, its is still responsive and i can feel the screen vibrate when i drag where the unlock bar would be across the screen.
If you are using set cpu in sleep below 500mhz you maybe will get a delay/lag
.......................................................
Sent from my loved atrix ;D
No lag.
Only when it boots up the first time but that's expected when all my crap is loading up.
I don't use the finger scanner or password or anything just turn on the volume button and its fast no lag.

Power button not working on CM7

Hey guys for some strange reason my Evo's power button is not working at all. Its def not jammed or broken and it just started happening last month. Idk if its CM's fault and its a bug or what. Im lost any sugggestions would be super awesome. Thanks
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've never heard of CM7 causing something like that- though I assume you mean you have your evo on but can't press it to bring up the power menu. If you mean the power button won't turn the screen on, check to see if the buttons are at least lighting up. If they do, that's a backlight issue caused by the CM7 kernel, not the power button. Try to turn the screen on and off a few times and the backlight should eventually come on. Then, in cyanogen settings, turn the screen-on animation off- that solved the backlight issue for me.
Otherwise, try pulling the battery to turn it off, then plug it back in, if it doesn't turn on at all when you hit the power button from there, that's a hardware issue and it's time to take it in to get fixed.

There is a widget as well that you can apply that will put the phone to sleep for you.

Waiting time for screen on.

I have tried kj4, kka and sheep rom. All have the annoying long wait after pressing power button intil the screen is lit up. Also tried different CPU governors without result. What is the problem here? And can it be solved?
Is it just me, or do others experience this as a prob?

Just to clarify the issue here:
When the phone is on but screen has been off for a while, the time between pushing pwr button and until the screen lights up is about 1 second, it may not sound much but it just enough to make one press the button once again. Not what i am used to on my previous androids from HTC.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Same here. KJ4, stock KKA and sheep KKA. It is annoying indeed...
Probably a user experience thing, you guys who claim to NOT have the issue:
Can you lock the screen and wait for like 10 mins and then on the screen again and time the delay from button press to screen light-up?

I am judging this by my 2 previous HTC's whith all kinds of different Roms where I have never seen this.
My thought is that it is on all notes but some people does not see it as a problem but you and me do.

I think I figured out the issue. I disabled weather on the lock screen and now my phone comes straight on. Maybe everyone with the issue can try that and see if it works for them?
Confirmed, getting rid of the weather on the lock screen gets rid of the lag

yea, mines also has the same 1-2 sec delay. no weather on lock screen. found it odd, cause i've only had HTC phones so far, and never saw this.
Samsung don't use early_resume in the kernel, that Seems To be more qualcomm Related code.
It's that Code that gives you instant screen resume on the HTC devices et al.
I found this a niggle on the note as well, but have got Used to it,especially compared to amount of work it would take to fix it.

Won't turn off.

Got a question. My girlfriends phone won't stay off. We press the power button to put it to sleep and/or turn the screen off. When we do, it comes back on right after. It is a little annoying and battery draining. Any help?

If its plugged in it could stay on. Is her phone rooted? Can you clear the cache and dalvik? Make sure its unplugged and do a battery pull. Then leave it out for a couple mins, replace, wipe cache and see if it still happens. She may also have a crappy power button.
Nah, she's not rooted. I've thought about it, but I also don't want to mess her phone up and go through the long gfree process. Mine is rooted, g2. But I told her maybe later I would. She likes the way it is, dunno why, but does. So ill let it be for now.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. She has a theme on go sms that tries to get her to download go launcher. I want her rooted so her phone will work 10x better, but she's an if ain't broke don't fix it girl. But her phone is pretty broke ha ha
Sent from planet Vegeta.
Haha well it could be an app and I think you should just keep trying to get her to let you root it and then give her a great custom rom and she won't have any reason to complain lol

wont turn off
hi, i have a rooted my-touch 4g w/ cyanogen 7. i am currently experiencing the same problem. pressing the power button only momentarily shuts screen off then it comes right back on. after that it will continue to shut off and on. i believe the problem has to do with the track pad button, possible=y something making contact or an improperly working switch. i have found that if you time pressing the power button right when the screen starts to turn back on it will stay off, but you have to time it right. as to why i think its the track pad, i have found that if you hold the track pad button down and then press the power button the screen will remain off until you release the track pad button. i pressed down hard on the track pad and released then tried the power button by itself and it seem to be functioning correctly for the moment. i am 99% sure its the track pad button.
Could it be stuck power button
