Nice to see that I'm not the only 15 year old with either a blackberry or an iPhone
Anyway, what I did was just use the latest official stock ROM from HTC themselves in order to update the radio. If you flash ROM 3.14, then you will have radio 2.15, then you can use HSPL4 to flash HSPL 2.08 and follow the guide from there You might have to search for a mirror of the official stock ROM for your device as if I'm not mistaken HTC has taken down the file from their site. You can't really brick your phone unless you flash an incompatible radio and if you use the stock ROM you won't need to worry about that. Your HD2 is a 512 if you don't have a TMOUS logo on the top, and also all of the hardware buttons are white.

when you flash a rom does it matter for these?
what if you want 6.5.x but currently have 6.5?
how does that work?
which rom do you like for the t-mous hd2 and why?
which rom has the least bugs, good battery life, and fast?
6.5 is what u hav now, 6.5.x only differs from the start menu going from the top of the screen to the bottom of it alsowen dealin with the newer roms 6.5.x usaly has the most updated software.... now always keep in mind to research the info before making a new thread, the reason for this is because when u go into a cooked rom thread all the info u need and pictures of the rom is in the thread... and please read before u do anything to your device
but i was wondering, if you flash a 6.5.x rom onto your 6.5 after you hspl will it still work or will it brick?? im not really sure about the whole flashing thing yet it still confuses me

when you flash, your current rom is completely wiped so it doesn't matter what version it is.

so to my understanding on flashing, you first hspl your phone then download your rom and radio first you flash radio then rom?
if you downgrade from 2.13 to 2.10.0 to hspl your phone, and you flash via micro sd, there isnt a possible way to brick your phone right? :/

doesnt really matter what order you flash them because you have a tmous, so the rom will work with any tmous radio, including the one already on your phone, and if there isnt a tmous radio on your phone then its already bricked
You probably learned that re: the normal leo, where the rom doesnt boot until the radio is flashed, but doesnt affect tmous.

Heh, theres always a chance, just like theres a chance you will fall over in the bathroom and break your neck whilst brushing your teeth, , , , , , hehe.
Make sure you have plenty of charge in your battery, and dont mess with it whilst its flashing, and it should be fine.

so whe i downgrade back to 2.10, you just install the rom right? and if your radio is 2.10 its fine right?
your radio should work fine with most of the roms that you install. If a particular rom requires a specific radio version 1 of 2 things will happen. 1) The chef will include it in the rom or 2) the chef will state the radio version needed as a recomendation. Sometimes a specific radio version will work better where as a different radio version may affect reception, battery life among other things. You can't however get whatever radio version you feel like because some radios are location specific (no need for a portuguese radio when you live in Chicago) Go to the XDA-Wiki and look for radios. They have a table explaining each radio version, it's carrier and it's location. Best of luck on journey through flashing. It is an exciting one.

go for it, you are flashing a tmous rom onto a tmous phone with a tmous radio 1 - included in the rom and 2 - already on the phone. It will alllll be fine.
Just wondering, what rom are you flashing? I understand your anxiety about flashing. Took me couple of months to get the courage to do so. I was afraid to brick my precious TP2.
Just making sure before I look at ROM's...
Speed 1024
RAM 576
Flash 1024
Storage 688.48
Radio 2.10.50.26
Model TMobile_LEO
So, I would use the ROM's for the 1024Leo, is that right, or am I way off?

No problem
Read the flashing thread, there are some steps you need to take before flashing ...
Search for HSPL3 , you will need it first ....
I have one 1024LEO too, but...
I've installed last hspl, it was a T-Mobile but is now unlocked, but no ROM seems working, the mobile doesn't want to boot anymore!! Help please...
Update infos
Since one upgrade test, the hspl disappeared and now writing as
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.02.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0X05
MicroP(Touch) 0X50
You flashed an incorrect ROM. If you can get into bootloader( which it looks like you can) then you need to flash the original carrier ROM in order to restore your SPL to stock. Reflash the original T-Mobile or whoever ROM in order to rewrite the stock and correct SPL to your phone. Then you can HardSPL again.
But how can I know which one was the original and where finding it? Because even a Task 29 doesn't work anymore... Thanks
you are stuck. spl 2.02 is a test/manufacturing spl, and nothing you do now will allow you to change it.
Do a search for threads with titles like 'stuck with spl 2.02' and the like. I 'think' you can now only flash teh 2.01 and 2.02 (and perhaps 2.03, if i remember correctly) and you can flash cooked roms using SSPL, but you cant change the radio with sspl. so the only radios you can use are those contained in eth three roms i mentioned.
Unlucky.
Yet tried
I tried all ROM, but even 2.01, 2.02, 2.03 give me RADIO_V2 failed...
What else can I do? How is it possible?
I tried to let the mobile without battery for hours before try to flash, I even tried the fridge for the mobile...
progress
After colding device, I was finally able to flash until 2.03, but 2.05 and up are not able to be flashed. The problem is when I insert my SIM, the phone always reboot...
Any Idea? Incompatable ROM with 1024LEO? How to upgrade ROM? Thanks
Yes, dude, like two people have already told you. You are stuck with the SPL's from hell. You flashed some other carrier ROM, and that has screwed your SPL. Search for the threads about being stuck in that SPL and see what you can dig up.

Did I read that right? You put your HD2......IN THE REFRIGERATOR? It's amazing the darn thing still works.
It's the only way for me to flash it again, when it's cold... When it runs more than 1 hour, the phone doesn't react anymore... That's why I have to send it back for repair but I don't have the original receipt and I live in Belgium, this is a US T-Mobile I've unlocked...
JTAG?
Do you believe the JTAG Flash is a solution? Is there already someone tried this? Thanks
JTAGing your device won't do you any better than what you can do now. And honestly, if you are the type of person to have done this to your phone in the first place, JTAG is something that seems to be out of your reach.
Thanks, I'm Electronic Engineer!! I will do it for sure and as fast as I can...
And how can you tell it won't change anything? Have you tried to affirm that?
wow reading this thread made my head hurt.......
Hi
I'm afraid to BRICK my HD2 like i did to my other one
how can i know what ROM is the right version for my T-mobile US?
what do i need to check before i install?
what parameters in the build of the ROM'S i need to pay attention to?
plz help me use my HD2 the right way this time
THX...
read the stickies...........
then read them again.............
then read everything else...............twice......
all the info you need to prevent a brick should be on the first page of the rom thread
dont flash a .51. radio........ that will brick a tmous
you might be best to start your reading in the tmous section......
best advice ive ever seen on xda.......
"read evrything......... even if you dont understand it" - samsamuel
hope that helps.......
I have a T-Mobile (TMOUS) USA myself. If you haven't already, install HSPL3 1st (fairly simple instructions in the "how to flash everything" thread. If you want to try a new radio, I would do that next. Yes, only .50 radios, NO .51 radios.
I have the newest 2.15 radio, and it works well, had 2.14 also. Both work much better for me than the 2.10 that came with the phone.
I use "Energy Rom", but I am sure others are on par with it. There are some that will not work for us, but they do note that in their thread. Good luck. For me, having a custom rom and radio made all the difference.
read EVERYTHING about the ROMS and make sure you are flashing one that is compatible with TMOUS.
as stated in a previous post, make sure you flash a radio with .50 and NOT .51 or you will brick your phone.
from what I have read on many posts here, if you install 2.08 HSPL then you cannot brick your phone but im not sure.
i flashed the 2.08 HSPL on my TMOUS HD2 and running elegancia V5 rom with no problems.
you can always flash back to the stock SPL if you need to return your phone to TMO.
since the new nand android got released for the leo...i have one question about flashing which i just cant understand is this how it goes? ->
1) install hspl3 anything 2.08 or higher as mskip said.
2) install magldr version 1.something or higher
3) install nand Rom (Nand Version Only Not the sd Ones) By going into usb flasher mode...
the only thin i cant understand is where does radio come into all of this...on mskip's tutorial he says use 2.08 radio or higher....
are these hacked radio's or just the same firmware needed to run radio devices on android ?
and when we install like a cyanogen nand or the desire nand do we have to update the radio to a particular version or something?
i understood everything about hspl and magldr and android nand...just cant get where the radio comes into all of this...some guides dont even have radio mentioned.....
do we just need to have 2.08 or higher and just leave it and forget about it...or do we need to upgrade to a particular version....
will it harm the phone if i upgrade or should i just blindfolded upgrade to the latest 2.15 or something(dont know the version number)
i hope i havent troubled you guys a lot...just needed this clear for myself and maybe the community....sorry for the incoveneince
can any1 please help me out?
Just make sure you've got a suitable radio, as you said, and that's it. You don't need to update it when you flash new builds.

hi htc hd2 users...i love my hd2..first the stock rom was installed in it..i felt some few bugs in stock rom n i tried energy rom after seeing good reviews for it..once i installed energy rom..i found having hanging issues or freezing issues..well i didnt know whats the reason for it...so again i formatted or uninstalled energy rom n installed the ols stock rom itself...now again i found another one rom named as cleanEX RV Ultra 1.01 ..its great n its compatible with my hd2 version...n i am running on it only..today i saw a tmobile updated official rom of 3.14 n i am plannin to install it..but i am scared what ll happen if frequently changing the rom...whether it ll affect my hd2 or cause any damage etc etc
thanks for the reply..
phone-T-mobile htc hd2
Os version-21913
Rom version- cleanEX RV Ultra 1.01
Radio version-2.08.50.08_2
nothing will happen
Just remember to run task29 before you flash your new rom
I have my device now for about 15 mounts, and in the meal wile I have install more than 70 Rom's on it without any problems.
The most important is not how much Rom versions you will install but eater if you would do it correctly.
Why don't you put HSPL3 2.08HSPL and MAGLDR1.13 on it so you can have Android on NAND, Windows Phone 7, hah? . . . now we're talking
Like kurt-willems, my HD2 is like 15 months old, I´m a flashaholic since other devices in the past. I think I flashed roughly 50 custom ROMs (plus some stock ROM flashes before task29 was possible with stand-alone apps).
It is being said that the memory chip technology which stores the OS ROM can be at least re-written 1000 times. I don´t think I will still use the HD2 in 20 years.
Maybe, I´ll keep it as a souvenir as one of the greatest smartphones in the early 2000´s. And at least 1 ROM of each OS on an SD... just for fun, hehe...
I couldn't really remembered how many ROM flashing i've had done since my Dopod 838 Pro, TyTN II, Touch Pro, Touch Pro2, Snap and now HD2, nothings bad happened. So the point is, it's safe as long as You do by the rule Sir. Go a head, You can do more than just that, Cheers

Bro, your avatar is the same with the signature of Bro Tictac (above your post )
I have been flashing my HD2 for 13 months and I tried almost all wwe roms available in XDA and HTC Pedia. But I think it still below 1000 times.
And when it reaches 1000 times and something happen with my HD2, I will not regret it because HD2 is the best phone ever made by HTC
Cheers....

Since you are running a custom ROM, then you alread have HSPL running. I would go into BootLoader Mode to confirm that the SPL is 2.08.HSPL
Your RADIO is fine (although there are a few updated verions 2.12.50 and the 2.15.50 are the more popular).
Once all that is done then you are able to go into the Android NAND ROM Flashing.
