I just got an HD2 yesterday, and I was just wondering what would be a good rom for it? Is their any type that makes the internet faster, and can get me the full android market, or at least some good apps from it? Please help a lonely noob .
Edit: Also, is their a fix for my proximity sensor? It now will not turn on when I take it away from my face. It goes off when I put it to my face, but won't come back on.
try this one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514465
maybe will help what you need
Best rom would be depending on ur usage... If you are not too much into flashing and stuff, then better stick with stock rom.. Else provide detailed requirement so the forum members suggest a suitable one...
I have tried in vain on and off over the past several weeks to deWindows mine.
I finally managed to flash this one last night...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
...so far so good.
I had also previously come across what agastya154 has mentioned and will probably try that one too.
And like everyone else says though... research & search, and then search some more, and then reasearch on what you've searched.

hi guys, not sure if this is where to put this, but i wanted to say thanks to all the guys on this forum... I am a no body, not very good with anything over basic computer skills, same skills with my cell phone... Well i purchased a H2d 2 weeks ago, i really liked the phone stock, my wife got a moto. defy a few days ago and i really like that phone... well long story short, i have read for about 4 days straight.. i read so much and tonight i added android to my phone. There are issues, like robot calls and I'm having trouble doing a soft reboot, it locks.. I can power off and restart in WIN MO. I'm using darkstone HD2Froyo v1, stock 2.13 ROM, 2.10.50.26 radio... Tonight ill be reading more about changing the ROM, i might even try another build of android, this one seems like an early build, not sure but not as flashy as some Ive seen...
Anyways i just wanted to say a big thanks to all you guys who lay this out for us, not real easy to find all the info, but it is here..thanks again, you made my phone "cool"
Dude, thats the best first post ever.
Usually first posts go like...
Can somebody answer this question that could have been answered by a little reading, or using the search function
or
Can somebody post a .cab that solves an ongoing problem that is discussed in countless threads
No, instead, you took the high road and READ FOR 4 DAYS STRAIGHT
Keep reading bro, your phone will keep getting cooler
As for the robot voice, I'm almost sure you know this since you did a bunch of reading and got Android running, but you did tap CLRCAD before tapping Haret right? Only reason I ask is because you have a good radio for Android ( X.XX.50.XX), so CLRCAD is the only other thing I can think of offhand.
If that's not it, I'd try some other builds. There has to be one that will give you clear call audio
Good luck in modding your phone and welcome to XDA
Formatted card this morning and downloaded another ...HD2Froyo_V3.7z .. works good, froze on 1ST camera use.. now sounds decent on calls, i can live with it no problem...I was up most the night trying to get others to load, I found that double twist left a file on my card after i erased it that was not allowing me to run programs off my card, I got a new card and this loaded very fast, under 1 minute...love it..
I really want to try bluetopia.. I love the look of it.. maybe tonight...
I own a powder coating business and this had made me get real backed up...... need to work now, maybe ill try some more soon....
Blue and Redtopia are in my opinion THE best builds of Android available for the HD2. And the robot voice is not from your radio, but from your ROM being the stock 2.13...most builds, Froyostone and the 'topia builds excluded have that problem on the stock 2.13 ROM.
I'm not around here much, but if you copy helpful noob links onto my sticky I'll post them in the 1st post.
Just trying to make it noob friendly.
I have searched a little, but also wanted to ask a few questions:
What ROM do you like best and why?
For some reason I am leaning toward the Evil port of Desire Z. It look nice, from what I can tell and have seen.
It seem from my readings, that there are pretty much always small issues with each ROM that is released. And yes, it also seems that those issues are being addressed.
But each time you must wipe and then flash. By that you mean the HDD on the phone, not the SD card right?
I can see it being a pain to install all your apps, etc over and over again.
I also have a question on rooting, but I want to post a outside link, but need to post a few more b4 it will let me, so that will come shortly.
Thanks for the help.
Notes (don't need to read this):
First I'd like to thank you for your help. I know you don't have to. Also, I'd like to say that I had enough of this. I spent my two last weeks on this and I couldn't find the solution. I searched here, on Google, YouTube and on many more places. I know that I'm a noob loser (as the video says) but at least I know that I gave my best and tried all I could. With that said, lets go to my freaking problem.
THE problem:
I have a HTC MyTouch 4G Glacier. I bought it in the US (I'm from Brazil) and since I bought it I have this freaking problem with the battery life. I can't think about one day that I didn't faced the Cell Standby, Cell Idle, and Wireless consuming more than 30% (each) of my battery. The company sent me another battery and I still have the very same problem. Reading on the internet I discovered that one way to solve this was to root the phone and give a S-off to it.
Here is something important to know, I'm not a advanced coder. I don't know many things about the language you use. However, I can get things through reading and trying. So, please keep in mind to not use acronyms or difficult words 'cos I will ask you to keep it as simple as you can.
Moving on... So, I managed to give a super user and to set a S-OFF (whatever this S-OFF meanings). After that, I tried to follow the tutorial posted on the website TheUnlockr (the one that uses revolutionary) but without any success. So, I read and found an app called "Rom Manager". I installed and bought its premium account. My first shot was the CM 10.1 that I found in the same website (theunlockr). The cell gave me the Status 7 error. So, to keep things more simple, I decided to download the CM-7.2 Glacier, which I downloaded from the same app, and install it.
I wiped all the data and installed this ROM. It seemed to work fine. The ROM is working amazingly, my apps as well BUT the freaking battery life problem is still haunting me.
What I tried to do:
Searching for a solution here I found many posts talking about RADIO, about AOSP, and many more. The thing is, I have no idea what they are. I might've searched on google, and I did searched AOSP but I couldn't see any difference, but, as I told you, I'm tired of reading many things and find no solution. I'm trying now to download another ROM to see if it will work better or not. But I really think it will not. In addition, my GF's friend has a HTC (but not Glacier) and its battery works fine. The only thing that consumes its battery is the display and it is below 25%.
Which apps I have installed:
I don't have many APPs but I will list them here:
- ROM Manager;
- Waze;
- Facebook chat;
- DU Battery;
- WhatsApp;
- File Manager;
- Lookout;
- Japanese Pro;
- Shazam;
- Swype;
- Terminal Emulator;
My cell phone info:
HTC Glacier
Android 2.3.7
Kernel version 2.6.35.14
I tried my best to give you all the information I thought it could be relevant for you. If you need more infos, just ask.
Once more, thank you for your time.
I have read that CyanogenMod 7.1 gives better battery life.
Also STOCK (the type of operating system your phone came with) suck with battery life; I would leave mines at 100% and overnight I'd wake up to 8%
Once I installed custom roms, it got a lot better; 100% at night, when I wake up, still 100.
Also it may be a hardware problem since 2 batteries didn't help. If you really want good battery you might have to spend some money.
Try buying these

Thanks for your answer.
Would you be nice and give me these roms names or links to download?
And, how can I change/delete this STOCK from my cell?
Once again, thx.
You already have gotten rid of stock.
If your running cyanogen that means your not running the normal operating system.
Go into the development forum for the glacier on this site.
The 2nd thread is a resource bible.
Open it, then pick a ROM you like.

Thx again.
I will try another ROM. Maybe tomorrow I'm here to say if it worked fine or not.
sigh let's start the horror story. So I rooted my verizon LG G2 (VS980) phone yesterday using this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2013/10/25/root-lg-g2-versions-video/
I found that pretty easy so i decide to then be more adventurous and load cyanogenmod 10.2 on my phone since I heard it was officially on nightly release for verizon phones. So then i came across this youtube video explaining how to do this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s3eO-jvNWk
I make 3 mistakes in this process:
1. i don't do the settings part
2. i don't wipe the phone
3. and most importantly i download the wrong cyanogenmod 10.2 version. I put the 802 international version on it instead of the verizon version.
Now my phone is stuck with fastboot with a black screen.
I can go into download mode and have tried the following guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
In this one it gets stuck at 49% loading when i use the verizon version
the second:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
here when i start to load it says my device is the wrong model because i loaded the wrong cyanogenmod
Now that i know why my phone wouldn't load the verizon rom (because i had cyanogenmod 802 international). I have successfully loaded the stock 802 rom on my phone. the bad part is the touch screen is all wacky and i can't get into setting to go into developer mode and finally fix my phone.
Any ideas on where i can go from here? If i could just get into developer mode i can restore everything by loading TWRP then loading the cyanogenmod for verizon.
Just an idea, but maybe you could use a mouse via OTG in the meantime.

thanks i didnt know i could use a mouse. I will try to find a cable that will allow me to do that.
I was able to help a few peeps with the same prob get back to stock. Pm me if you need help.
some updates.
I didn't get the mouse to help me around the touch screen. I just memorized where all the new locations where for example the middle of the screen clicked the bottom left
I have been able to get this european 820 stock ROM running on my verizon phone and have it in debugging mode.
All the other flash methods are failing me because i get "different model" error.
I'm currently trying to update my build.prop file so i can get the other flash methods to work since this is the file they are looking at to see if it's ok to flash with the rom you have select. Personally i find that kinda silly. I mean i'm flashing the thing give me an option that say "are you sure you want to do this? you are about to flash your phone with an compatible rom". Yes i'm aware i put the wrong rom on the thing now flash my phone with this one.
Oh it would be great if someone out there could post me their verizon build.prop. Would really appreciate that.
update
don't change the build.prop model number to VS-980. my phone is now in a reboot cycle.
I can get into download mode but i fear that i still won't be able to flash with the right rom because that build.prop is wrong. can i skip this verification step?
I also have twrp running but again it's the European version so the touch screen doesn't work properly. i can't swipe across to do anything even if i wanted to.
I would just do this and start over...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
WHY?

I can't help myself, I have to speak up..
nothing against the OP BUT this is exactly why I DO NOT try to do this stuff. There's really no benefit that the stock ROM on this phone cannot do...and more...and I read so many reports of people turning their beautifully working phones into little black plastic paper weights. Simply not worth the trouble, time, and possible money :silly: to get a little more screen space, or a smaller NAV bar, or whatever.
And then so many people want KIT-KAT...WHY? Will it REALLY be that much better than what this thing can do now? Or will it just introduce BUGS like every other update always does to an android device? If, and when this phone gets an update to KIT-KAT or whatever version they decide upon, and it actually works without new bugs, then I will be pleasantly surprised. Here we have what just might be the best android phone to land on earth so far, and people want to "improve" it??? My $0.02

Totally unnecessary to make this post. Unless you have something to contribute regarding the prob at hand, please keep your opinion to yourself. The point of these forums is to ask questions and provide help when possible. If you wish to voice you're opinion, I suggest you start your own thread.

I can't speak to everyone else's why but I do it because I'm an engineer and here is what i mean by that. Ever since I was a little kid I would mess around with stuff even though I had no clue what i was doing. I remember the first time I took apart a stereo was because our living stereo broke (the CD player wouldn't play anymore and that's what it was used for mostly). I told my mom not to throw it away so I could see if I could fix it. I was maybe 10 at the time so of course she knew i couldn't possibly fix but she let me. In the end I couldn't fix it (hell i had screws left over) but it was just fun looking around and exploring. As I grew I still kept doing the same thing, taking things apart and explore. Sometimes I can improve the thing I took apart other times I completely break it but most of the time I can just put it back the way it was originally. That's my why.

Sounds like my childhood and I'm an engineer aswell.
Software to me is pure magic, but I'm very happy there's people that can code Roms.
Good luck mate.
Once you fix your phone and it's back to stock it will feel better than sex.
Keep stock for a couple of days and that itching feeling of "i need to do something with this" is gonna come creeping back

I feel you pal. But i also got the point of the other guy. But is in OUR vines to mess things around and turn in back. lol. Bout your concern, i think there is a thread here that got it working. Just try searching in Q & A thread. Maybe search "brick"? Read everything you can read. I'll help and comeback when i see it.

Same issue. Fastboot mode.

I am horribly confused as to why you are an XDA member. :-/
Support your Devs......
I'm having the same problem and haven't been able to get it to work. As soon as I flash the stock d802 (my phone is really d803 but I had a d802 custom rom on it before) the touch screen goes all weird and my phone keeps restarting.
Hey,
I'm getting my Find 5 in the next week and looking forward to flash it. Still tho, I dunno what rom I could flash (looking forward to a KitKat flavor). I got several questions according to choose the best rom
1. What's the difference between "original Android dev" and "Android dev."?
2. Does flashing work without any precaution (since the Bootloader is unlocked @ stock)
Offtopic: I've heard of not a little amount of people who broke their phones at the first drop. seems like the find 5 is despite its very rocksolid body kinda sensitive. Could you suggest me a good'n cheap case (previously I used an HTC sensation)?
Thanks in Advance

1.i dunno what the difference is sorry.
2. There's always the risk of bricking your phone no matter what. No Dev will ever tell you their rom is foolproof because fools will prove them wrong lol. Just follow instructions and read, read, read. The find 5 is the easiest phone to root and install a ROM IMHO but there's always risk. I personally think omni ROM is far ahead of anybody else. It's fantastic. Give it a shot you won't be disappointed.
I've never had an issue dropping it, happened once or twice, can't tell. But there's hardly any cases for this phone. One of the only bad things about it. I've had 2 imak cases and they are pretty good. Mostly just add some grip. The corners wear out fast though. Hope I helped!
